Who Called Us

I REALLY GET RATHER IRKED WHEN THESE NON-PROFITS SHARE THE PHONE #'S OF PEOPLE WHO SEND THEM MONEY. SEND TO ONE CHARITY AND YOU WILL GET PHONE CALLS AND SNAIL MAIL FROM SCORES OF OTHERS. THERE SHOULD BE A LAW AGAINST THIS SHARING OF OUR PHONE #'S. AND OF COURSE THEY ARE EXEMPT FROM HAVING TO ADHERE TO THE "DO NOT CALL' LIST.

Infocision has called for American Lung each day for a week from rotating numbers, reusing this one every three days.

HAVE REC'D NUMEROUS CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER WITHIN THE PAST FEW WEEKS. NEVER ANSWER B/C I DIDN'T RECOGNIZE THE NUMBER. THEY NEVER LEAVE A MESSAGE.

Too bad we can't send them the message that they deserve.... or can we ;-)

Infocision is a telemarketer based in Akron, Ohio and routinely runs aggressive campaigns for charity and political groups. Here is a potentially incomplete list of their past and current clients for the year 2010:

Recent Infocision tactics include predictive dialing and the use of multiple rotating numbers to frustrate caller blocking. Because campaigns can run for weeks and months, the call center is encouraged (if not obliged by contract) to keep pelting the same unresponsive targets through the bitter end. Charities are among the FTC DNC exemptions, even if third party for-profit firms are involved in collection.

Note that there may be overlap with other telemarketing firms working the same accounts in parallel, such as Donor Services Group, Echo Marketing, MDS, and Telefund. However, as phone campaigns from client groups also tend to overlap, it is quite possible (and has already happened here) to receive calls by the dozen each week. Ostensibly they are from different sources but often they all originate from Infocision.

This means that while you may successfully get on the internal DNC list for a single client group, Infocision is bound to call again soon for any of their other thirty-odd clients. Stronger countermeasures may require entry into a master DNC list for the call center itself, a sort of blanket protection. Sometimes you may get satisfaction from contacting the charity or interest group directly and reporting to them the irritation caused by its hired phone jockeys.

However, my records show that the same charities and PACs run the same campaigns at the same times each year. Some will add a call recipient to internal DNC as requested, then conveniently forget the request just in time for the next campaign. If comments to these caller databases sound strident, it's only because we are so very tired of saying "no" every day we are near a ringing phone and having to repeat and redirect our requests.

never leaves any message. This has been happening for months.

The Do-Not-Call registry does not prevent all unwanted calls. It does not cover the following:

American Lung can hound people to death because they are a non-profit and are excluded from the do not call list. You can read more on the website: fcc.gov

This is the message I got when I filed a complaint with the "donotcall.gov" web page:

Guess that is how some get around the "do not call" list. Get a new number every 30 days and continue to call numbers with impunity.

They have called several times in the past week and never leave a message in my voicemail.

Those mentioning being on the Do Not Call List: charities, political messages, and anyone you have established a previous relationship with (banks, credit card companies, insurance, etc) are excluded. In other words, the Do Not Call list doesn't do squat in keeping the most annoying offenders from calling you.

These maggots 877-504-6339 have called on several occassions and have nothing to say (not even any identification ) I have done a search of this number and it comes up as the "North American Numbering Plan" )NANP. which says that calls from this number may be billed to your account.

Since I have received so many calls from this number and and been bothered so much and now know who it is (american lung assoc)I will never again support them in any way.

this number calls me day and night at all times. I do not answer 800 #s. I am on the DO NOT CALL list. Why do I still get these calls?

Call came to Kansas at 09:40 CDT on 3-20-10. Call not answered and no message left. This number is known to be in the phone bank of American Lung. Pitch for funds

877-504-6339 called. The operatior hung up when I requested to talk to her supervisor and lied about the ability to remove our number from her list. A simple callback to 877-504-6339 gives you the option to be removed. I will exact my revenge in 3.....2......1.....

calls over and over

This number called me at 9:04 am this morning--ON A SATURDAY MORNING!!!--I just got in around midnight from a long plane flight--so I am groggier than usual this morning--God I hate these callers!!!! I got up to look at the Caller ID screen on my phone--but did not answer--no message left of course!!! Dammit!! just past 9 am on a Saturday morning--is nothing sacred to these people???

This number calls my home day and night all day.

In the past two days we have also gotten calls from 877-504-6336 and 877-504-6335 - all from these slimeballs that can't even identify themselves on caller ID.

These low life change their number often...yesterday, it was 877-504-6336. Guess their at it again since the stink that Shumer of NY has cooled down. Hey Ackmaad....American Lung hates you A-rabs....go get em.

This is the American Lung Association requesting donations etc. Can be removed from call list by return call, follow voice-menu.

I received a call from this number at 8:17 am. I called it back and got a recording saying it was the American Lung Association.

This number called our house today at 8:50 am. We are on do not call list. We do not answer calls from numbers we do not recognize. We are on the do not call list. It appears as if the do not call list is useless.
