The biggest problem with these so-called Collection Agency's Is that most of these people are Outsourced,So when you get a call you can't understand a Dam thing they are saying.It's really sad to see all our jobs sent overseas.Then you get some idiot on the phone who gets upset because He or She Can't speak Decent English. Oh yes I've had a few Bill's But I did pay them.But again there Is nothing worse than speaking with a person you can't understand.
I am a debt collector, and i read just about every post on here, and wow im kinda torn i wanna be mad as hell that debtors who owe a legit bill, still place anger in the wrong place. I am not the reason you are behind on your cc. I am not the reason you owe my client thousands of dollars. I do in fact treat every single call with respect, and dignity, cuz who am I, I have bills too, i dont rack up several thousand dollars worth. Bottom line is every 3rd party debt company in the US is bound by the FDCPA, every collections office has to be licensed to collect in your state. There is a saying in collections its only illegal if you get caught. So as a collector who gets paid off bonuses, we do and say pretty much what we have to to get you to pay. Understand that you had a legal contract with our clients, and if you read that contract that you were so eager to sign upfront, it says that if you go into default you balance will be do in full, so now your in default and its our fault right. Because my client extended you credit that "YOU" used racking up several thousand in debt and now dont want to pay. We are not the bad guys here, we get lied to countless times a day, we here ever sob story in the world, the economy, its obamas fault, there is no work here, ive been out of work for a year, who does that. Me as a collector, i am willing to do what ever i can to get you the lowest sett offer, set up on payments, what ever i can do to help you get your account taken care of, my approch is based soley off the intial contact, if you come to me sideways, if you want to cuss me, talk shit to me, then i will do my job, ill call your house work mother brother, sister cousins, friedns, neighbors, whom ever i can find attached to your name. This number is from Global Credit & Collection (in Montreal, Qc, Canada), they are a collection agency. Although they represent themselves as agents working for whatever institution is owed a debt. In our case it's a debt (of approx. 500$) that dates from more than 6 years ago, which we tried at the time to resolve with the bank in question. We were told that they no longer held that file and it had gone to a collection agency, hence the agent in question misrepresented herself as an agent of the bank. She would not give me the name of the company she worked for as she wanted to speak to my wife, even though I had added my wife to this account which was in my name, after we got married. I told her she was a collection agency and that my wife had already sat through the robocall and told the woman that they were a collection agency and that their time for legal action had lasped and that the damage to her credit score was done. The "agent" said that this was the first time that they had called (this is a BOLDFACED lie), and asked if I knew the repercussions of lying to her in a recorded call, and that I couldn't refuse to let her speak to my wife, which I wasn't, she was at work. So I had my wife call her back at the number she left 514-282-3779, and got an answering machine in which the "agent" gave her name and the company she works for. My wife left a message informing her that when she calls back we would like to know her licence number and the licence number of her company, and that after we had verified who they were, we need to see the original contract that makes up the alleged debt that the collection agent is collecting. So far we haven't heard back...

1.) If you people would pay your bills to the actual company you owe you would never be in collection with encore RMI to begin with.
2.) If these calls are actually not for you take the time to press one to get an actual person, to get the number taken out, you are always going to get a recording first that asked if this is "John Doe" please press one.
3.) If you owe the dept take responsibility for the fact that it is your mistake and fix it, take the time to listen to some of our reps. to explain what we have to offer, most of the time its better than what customer service could ever offer you, including settlements, and payment plans You most deffinetly have the time to talk on the phone if you are taking the time to complain on here.

a business call and that my home phone is a "contact" number provided by the person they are asking for.
Whenever we ask for our number to be removed and placed on the do not call list, we are HUNG UP ON!!!!!!!
In one morning they called 4 times in a two hour period!!!!!!!
numbers are being called because (1.) there were registered by the cardholders themselves when they applied for the credit card (2.)these cardholders used these number to call the store/customer service/encore itself (3.) they were skiptraced, meaning these were searched from databases....if they are receiving numerous calls a day, that means they are not picking up their phone to answer it....if it's a wrong number, please say so, so we can remove your number from our list...it's a waste of time and money for us to keep calling wrong numbers, doesn't that make any sense? we are not too keen on leaving messages on accounts on late stages of delinquency coz we most probably did that when it was on it's early stage (obviously cardholder haven't returned the call at all)....and we are highly regulated by federal law...most of the complaints here are exaggerations.....the best thing is to be civil about it...if we have the wrong number, please say so, we would remove it, for sure...if you are the delinquent cardholder, do face up to your responsibilities....for all you know, if you take time out to listen, you would appreciate that we are offering you options most convenient for you to save your credit standing.....
Encore is a collections agency. I work there now, and not really ecited about it to tell the truth. But I can tell you that it is all legitimate. Nothing we do is fraud. the main issue with wrong numbers is that people lie to us all day. Also, when someone gets a new number it will still be listed to the last person so we dont know if you're lying or not about having a wrong number. If you do tell us we have the wrong number we are supposed to remove it. There is no do not call list because this is not telemarketing. We CANNOT call after 9 because the computer system doesnt even let up. you may have a number with a different area code than the state you live in which can cause phone calls to come before 8 am or after 9 pm. I will agree that some of the collectors here are very rude and it does make the job harder on the rest of us. my advice is to check and see if your phone number is listed to someone else. It not, tell the callers it is the wrong #. If that does not work make sure you got a name and talk to a superviser. After that I would report them because that is harrassment. We also have to verify information before we can tell you why we are calling. It is easy for us to have a wrong number and it is illegal for disclose your information to anyone else. The only way to know we are talking to the correct person is to verify the last 4 of your ssn. And to anyone who says our job it pathetic and the money we make is pathetic, we have collectors who ger paid $12.00 and hour with $6000 bonuses every month. Thats not so bad.
I've received several phone messages from this company. The very first message stated that they found my name and number in the local phone book, but they never said why they were calling. According to my google search, they are some sort of collection agency,as others have reported here. After getting several messages from this company, with the messages getting more threatening, I finally broke down and called them. They claimed that someone at my phone number was related to someone who owed a debt and they were trying to get in touch with the person who owed the debt. Ridiculous claim!! Since they found my name and number in a phone book, how could they possibly know who I'm related to?!? I told them that I was in no way related to whom they were looking for, and I asked them to remove my number from their call list. We'll see what happens...

These people call every 10 to 15 minutes, 7 days a week. I have asked them to stop at least 100 times, and they usually hang up once I ask. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and got hung up on. I have contacted the police and filed a harassment claim against this company. Hopefully something will happen.
For a few days now, we've been receiving calls day and night asking for a Demi but we don't have any Demi's living in this house. This morning, I received another call from a rep named Kathy asking for a Demi LAST NAME (which turns out to be a relative of ours). She said that our relative left our phone # as the contact info, and that it was a personal matter and would not be right for her to discuss this private matter with other people. Instead, she gave me 877-409-2110 and asked for me to pass along the # for Demi to call back. I did a search online and good to see that this has fraud written all over it. Pretty amazing they were able to track relatives' info data!
Caller called several times on cellphone (private number) asking for someone who we dont know. Wife called back and the lady said the person they were asking ofr was not in their system. Finally they said they were a company called ERCO (her spelling) They were told to not call back. WE'll see if they stop.
How to annoy a Telemarketer...
If they start out with, "How are you today?" say, "I'm glad you asked I'm having a bad day. My therapist wont return my calls. My husband cheated on me. My 14 year old daughter is pregnant and my dog chewed up my brand new heels. Ask them "Can we talk for a lil while?" Make up as many horrible things as you want...
If you get a call from a carpet cleaning company ask them if they can out blood stains? Also ask them if you can get blood stains out from the trunk of your car... Assure them that you were transporting meat for a barbeque or some other cRazy story. :P

Tell the telemarketer you are busy (shaving)(making love) at the moment and ask him/her if he/she will give you their home number so you can call him/her back. When the telemarketer says no they cannot give out their home number. Tell them I guess you don't want anyone bothering you at home either. I'm sure they will get the picture. :P

Then ask them to spell it backwords.... :P Ask them if they were named after someone famous like Jane Seymore... or some other actor... tell them about your favorite actor... or actress... tell them you tried to stalk them but you ended up in jail... etc... :P ask them to help you stalk someone...

They called me about 15 names today looking for somebody that doesn't live here. They didn't believe that I wasn't the person they were looking for. I called back the number on the caller ID, and asked them to stop calling me. They said that my name is Christina, and my bill is 106 days late. I said that my name is not Christina, and what bill? They then hung up on me. They continued calling me, and as soon as I said next time, I'd call the cops, they hung up on me. I have receved a letter from a complaint I sent the Missouri No Call Center. This place is a collection agency. You have to file a complaint directly with them and they should stop calling. There address Is Encore Receivables Management, 400 N Rogers Rd, Olathe, KS 66062. I am sending a certified letter and if they don't stop calling, I can file a complaint with the Consumer Proctetion Division. They call 15 to 20 times a day and when I have tried to tell these people that the person they want does not live here they get very rude.
First they were callin my home phone, which no longer is the case, as they now call my cellphone. What a true irritation, since no message is left, just silence.
I work for a 3rd party collection agency.... now b/4 you all jump be..... there are a few things you should know.....
1) federal law allows calls between 8am and 9pm local time of the person being called... most agencies systems will not let a call go out b/4 or after the time.
2) Chanches are if you are getting calls and are not the person they are asking for, then your number has been associated in some way. telling them you are not the right person should get get the calls to stop ... but.. many time the number is associated in a national db and any one trying to find that person will get your number and call....
3) if you are getting calls..... call the co back... thay by federal law must make sure they are talking to the correct person ie... address, phone number last 4 of ss, they have to get this info b/4 they are allowed to tell you why they are calling.
4) don't get nasty with them it will get you no where!!!!!!!
5) always get the co name and the name of the person you are talking to ...... if you still are getting calls and are the wrong person... speak to a supervisor.....
6) i know the calls can drive you up a wall...... however stay calm......the person doing the collections cannot by federal law make threats that are not intended to be carried out. ie cannot say is going to file suite against you unless he intends to do it and has the power to do it. if the threat is made then federal law has been broken and you should report it.

just received two calls from this number. when i called back, i was placed on hold for a good 5 minutes before some idiot picked up. So when he asked me how he could help i replied"how about you tell me? you keep calling my phone saying its important i speak to someone" if it was so important, why am i listening to a recording?"

i get a different employee who manages to transfer me back to the bafoon i as previously speaking with. After i explain who I am, he informs me that my "PAST DUE ACCOUNT ISN'T COMING UP AND CAN HE GIVE MY NUMBER TO CUSTOMER SERVICE" . I said ABSOLUTELY NOT! I want you to stop calling me. You should be able to tell me what account your calling about. He then informed me he will "remove me from the list" so help them if they call again.

We have gotten a dozen calls from those morons for a company that has been out of existance for five years. I have the former company's phone number, but have no other connection. We have asked to be removed from the list, but the calls come at all hours and every day of the week. This is bound to be illeagle, but what can I do? They called several times all day long beginning at 9AM until 9:20PM. One morning they rang @ 7:45. My husband whom the account belongs to that they are trying to collect on set up a payment plan with them for $154 a month yet the original debt owners (Sam's Club) have no record of this and are now expecting to receive $880.

This is a debt collector for GE Finance (WalMart). I do not appreciate them calling me after 9 pm at night. It was 9:20 pm when they called.
They call atleast 10 times a day. When I answer they hang up. I called them back today and they would not tell me what they were calling about. They just said that they need to speak to my husband. They are jerks.

If you're getting calls that aren't for you, then just let your machine pickup the call and pick it up only if a caller you've authorized begins to leave a message.
For 6 months, ERMI cotinues to telephone for an individual that I have not heard of. We explain this fact. ERMI keeps calling anyway. One way to deal with this injustice is to make the caller aware that they are working for a very low wage in a dead end job (without a union). They will then have to pay Federal Income Tax, Medicare Tax and Social Security tax on a sorry wage. The corporate 500 companies that receive the money (from poor people) will then give the fat cats the money as a capital gain (at a lower Federal Income Tax and without Medicare Tax and Social Security Tax, etc). Let them know of their pathetic existence.

Someone from this number keeps calling and leaving messages on my answering machine that say if you keep listening you are validating that you are that person, but when you try to call back the number is just busy.... I want these people to quit calling me.....
I receive calls from this number VERY frequently, but whenever I answer there's NOBODY there. I have tried calling them back. All you have to do is tell them that you don't know the person. Keep in mind they have software to look at to see if they have talked to the person at your phone #. So if you let your friends or relatives use your phone, shame on you. Oh, the national call list does not apply to debt collections. If you don't want your relatives called, then you shouldn't fill out other credit applications giving their info. It is not against the law to call your home repeatedly daily as long as no message is left. I suggest you all learn the FDCPA, we did. Well there sure are a lot of ignorant people in this discussion...First of all "Oncore" is spelled Encore. It is a receivalble management agency which collects debts owed to third party companies.
The reason that they are so persistant is because they deal with scum on a daily basis that try to avoid debt collections.

I am one of the ones calling from 877-409-2110, its not fraud like some of you think. If we are calling for someone you don't know, inform the representative to give the number to a supervisor to remove it from the dialer system and ask for their name and extension.
They have started calling my 89 year old Mother who has seriouse multiple health issues-same as others multiple calls with no message,

(1-888-881-4966) Is also a number used my Encore RMI. Ask me how I know this? and I will tell you that they called my mother whom lives on the other side of the country looking for me. When she asked who they were, they told her that I had put her down as a referance for vender services that they were offering to me. They also gave her a vender/badge#. When I called to contront them on this, they denied ever making a statement. After repeated attempts to understand why they told my mother such a lie. I threatened to conference her on in the other line to confirm it. That is when they told me that they are allowed bye law to do what is called a Skip-Trace. At that point even though they didn't admit their lie, I know what I was dealing with. Not to mention the other red flags that went up along the way pertaining to their rude, demeaning, and unprofessional ways. I offered to set up a payment plan, but it seems as though they were not interested in anything other than payment in full.
That is when I advised them that I will be sending a certified letter ordering them to cease all contact with anyone other than myself, in regards to this debt. I also put a request in thru- to the attorney referral network on myfairdebt.com. I will see this thru- to the end to get justice, as I believe my rights were in fact violated. Returned a recorded call to them at this number and they identified themselves as Encore. Told them to stop calling and to remove number from their list. Very rude people.

Got the same type of call that others have reported. Called them back,was treated rudely by the aforementioned "lady".Continued to call back,and finally succeeded in getting someone to say they would immediately take our number off "the list". Maybe this site has had some effect-echoing others, we'll see.
I just received another one of those calls instucting me to press 5, which I did. Someone answered still looking for a person not at our residence. I told them about the FDCPA rules like Mike did in a previous note and she told me I was wrong and that she could and would continue to call as often as she wanted to. I reported them to the FTC and am having the phone disconnnected. It is soooo annoying.
We have been getting these phone calls everyday for a week now, including weekends, sometimes 4 times per day. I have pressed 5 on the phone like they tell you to do and waited till I got hung up on. We have told them they have the wrong number and threatened to report them but the calls continue. I just reported them. Thank you for this website and all the comments. multiple calls over the past week. they hijack the line! Usually if my machine picks up but I then pick up phone, my machine auto stops recording. but when they call I CANNOT connect to my phone; i cannot get into the call during the middle of the call! I have tried to call the #. a recording says all of their agents are busy. I reported them to the ftc because I know any company that calls your house and than asks for the last 4 digits of your social security number..its a scam! I also got a phone call today from them on another number! They called at least twice today!
I'm following up... I posted the previous post about Encore calling for Melissa Star. They called here again today. Four times in less than 2 hours. I was sleeping when they called. On the fourth time, I got up and called the number back. I got a different person this time and advised him that I told a man named Robert there was nobody here by that name and that he has the wrong number. I also told him that I am aware he is a collection agency and that I am also aware of the Fair Debt Collections Practice Act (FDCPA) and that it regulates the number of times a third-party collection agency can call a debtor. If you truely owe them money, they cannot call but once PER day. If you do not owe them money because they have the wrong number, you must advise them they have them wrong number, then they are prohibitted by law from calling back. I told the agent that and he promised me my number was removed from their system. I'm still going to contact my attorney today. I told him I very well might be pressing charges for harassment. Thats what the FDCPA law stipulates if collection agencies call back continuously. If anyone here is interested in getting on board with me, please let me know.

These assholes have been calling my house numerous times like you all have previous stated. I returned their call and got Robert on the phone. He asked how he could help me and I said "I don't konw, Robert -- you tell me." He said he was calling for a Melissa Star or something like that. I told him there was nobody here by that name and he said he would remove the number from their list. I said "Make sure you do, ass hole" and hung up. I better not get anymore calls from them.
These pricks called my house at almost 9 at night when my mom has to work overtime they called before with a recording than someone talked after we hit 9 and they said we owe money to sams club. But we never charged anything to sams club. They asked for the last 4 digits of my moms social security number!

I am getting calls from this coompany for my ex-son-in-law charges who has not been married to my daughter for 8 years!!!! They had called before, and still they call me at my home and work! Talk about ridiculous, they even call me in regards to his first Ex-wifes bills who have been unpaid and she has remarried, talk about a screwed up mess, this is it!!!!!
These idiots keep leaving a recording "this is Mr jones ...." on my cell. I called them back and a stupid lady was really rude!!!! I filed a complaint with ftc do not call list. I had already registered my cell some weeks ago.
REPORT THESE IDIOTS TO FTC.
Purchased a pay-by-the-minute TMobile phone and calls began within about 30 minutes from 877 409 2110 with the same automated message from Mr. Jones about returning a phone call regarding an important matter. Perhaps this number was recycled a bit too quickly and the previous person who has my new number was being collected upon.
I got a call from them saying it was "mandatory" for me to return their call. LOL!! I'll show them "Mandatory!" then again I am a "rule breaker"
Some guy calling himself Mr. Jones, acting-like he's owed money or something.
He didn't ask for anyone by name, nor did he mention any company-name during his message.
I reported the number.
We'll see what happens....

I am a receptionist and this call came through on our business line. It was a recording...this guy is a JOKE...the recording said something like this.."You have obviously ignored our previous calls and it is imperative that you return my call so this situation does not osculate any further." He was rude during his recording, but on the other hand entertaining. LOL Just wanted to share.

Debt collectors for Lowe's credit card...extremely rude...person they wanted was my ex-husband.
They call at all hours of the days and nights. Getting really tired of this bs. It is never a person, only a recording.
I finally called them back (from a masked phone number). They claim to be Encore, a Collections Agency. Robert (ext R21H) said that a "Clint Smith" had my phone number and owes someone money. I told them there was no "Clint Smith" and they said they fixed their system and will not call me anymore. I'll report back here if they do. I don't believe them.
They've been calling me every weekday at 10:30 and leaving messages. This is my cell phone...I don't give that number out.
I wish they would stop calling...I never hear a real person and only a recording all times of day and different days of the week. I reported them to the national do not call registry. Finally a chance to see if my tax dollars really work for me!
Don't know 'em, don't owe 'em. Calls every 15 minutes on my cell, on my work phone, on my home phone. Persistent. But so am I.
When I called to inquire what they wanted no information was provided.

These people called looking for someone I do not know. I asked them to remove my number from their list.
They called again a few days later. Same story.
They called again two days after that this time as a recording (not a machine).
They called again, this time a person. I told them if they call again I will file a police report against them for harassment... and I will.
After that I will personally track down the the jerks and deal with them in a way that works.
