Every morning at precisley 0810 it calls, robo lady asks you to press numbers to put on hold, take a message, say its not you, ect... almost sounds like a scam. Now if it started with This is Dell calling about your past due account....well then I might have answered it the first two dozen times! :)

This number has called me, on average, seven times a day for the last week. They never leave a message on the machine and I have no idea who they are or what they want. They start calling shortly after 8:00AM and keep calling past 8:00PM.

Dell Financial hassled an old pal of mine for months some years back. She was sent to collections for not paying a bill she never received, and DFS henchies with thick accents would refuse to send anything on paper. They had to be the most dysfunctional billers of that year.

As I believe Dell is a first party collector, the FDCPA can't touch them, but your state laws may help choke off collector abuse.

We're getting their calls on one of the lines at work. When we answer there's nothing on the other line so if they're trying to reach someone who does owe them money, it would help if they answered and said who they are looking for. Since my line shows up privately, I took the number down and called them. When they answer with a Spanish or Indian 'Hello?', I wait a second and hang up. Fair is fair and besides, it's kind of a nice stress reliever!

I have an account with Dell Financial. I was late on the payment (not 30 days late). They seem to have an automatic dialer as the calls come in pairs, first from "UNKNOWN" with no phone number appearing on the caller ID and then with "TOLL FREE" (877) 298-0939 immediately after the first call.

just got two messages from that number... One of them just said "Where the F%#k are you?" Do they have the right to leave measages like that? ....and the other was a call for a Lisa (my name is def not Lisa, as I am a GUY!!!!) with some bullshit line about some internet call and to top it all of, I payed my Dell balance in full over a year ago.

I was 6 days late making my Dell payment. They got the money now and yet they call 4-5x a day to collect for June 9th payment. The say because I was late in May they have to right to continually call for June. It is still May!! How can a company aggressively attempt to collect a "past due" balance from 6/10/2010 on 5/20/2010. Not only am I sending them a cease and desist, but since after 4 purchases being late 1-2x total in 8 years I will never purchase a Dell computer again.

There reasoning is that because it went past due (even if it was only a few days) they have the "right" to call and collect the following month by a "postdated check by phone".

Wow, many people must not pay at all if they are so aggressive even when the account is current (yes, the have received the 6 day late payment) and payment is not due for another 2-3 weeks! It reeks of desperation and it's just bad for business. I know my rights and they do not have "the right to collect a post dated check by phone for next month" because I was a few days late this month. That is complete bull.

17 calls in four days. They always ask for William Webb when I answer, but I'm a teenage girl. I say wrong number. They call back anyway. What?!?!? Added them to my block list on my phone. Jerks.

31 calls over 3 days at all hours! Ridiculous. They never leave a message either. Harassment at it's best.

22 calls received in 4 days, and cannot seem tio stop them. I will never deal with Dell again.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
