This is the number from The American Cancer Society. They're very aggressive about reaching out to the community for help with the fight against cancer. I read a note from someone further down, and they said ACS calls more if you've donated in the past. Which is not necessaraly true. He also said that the only way to stop the calls is to stop donating. PLEASE DO NOT DO THIS!! That is not the way to stop calls. The ACS is extremely important in fighting this disease. And the ACS cannot continue without the extremely generous people that do donate. The next time you get a call, if asked, the agent has the ability to limit the calls to one time a year. Or they can remove you from the system with a note saying DO NOT CALL. but please don not take the advice to stop donating. cancer.org

Received and ignored calls daily from this number for weeks (I pick-up and immediately hang up phone each time). Tonight my wife answered and called down to me to pick up. American Cancer Society - I called the number back (866-915-0385) - Automated system - pressed "1" for more information - pressed "2" to have my number removed - entered my number and then was asked to press "1" again to confirm my number - received a message that my number would be removed in 30 days.

Call it back (866-915-0385) and pressed ONE. Then it will ask you to press TWO to enter your phone number to be removed. Enter your number, and recording says; "your number will be removed from our system within 30 days".

Yes, a very pesistent person asks you to ask your neighbors to give to the Cancer Society. When I said I don't believe in imposing on my neighbors that way, he kept right on talking and wouldn't stop. It was annoying and made me wonder why i give to Cancer Society myself if they're going to hit me with this kind of stuff.

I am getting these calls during the lunch hour at my business--I guess the American Cancer Society can expect me to NEVER donate again.

This is ACS's notes to neighbors campaign. Calling the number gives you a message to call 866-435-7227. I did so and got a nice lady who took my phone number off. I also mentioned automated calls made me much less likely to give to a charity.

American Cancer Society Notes to Neighbors program. You can no longer call this number and get your name/number removed. I only answered this call because they have called me 3-5/wk for the last few months.

I am getting calls from this number every other day. No one says a word and finally the call ends.

These guys are really disappointing. I'm all about the American Cancer Society, I've given them money many times. Both my parents had cancer. But the people who run the Notes To Neighbors program are just bastards. They won't take no for an answer. I have requested they remove me from their list 3 times now and it works for a while, but a few months later I start getting new calls. Seems the only option is to ignore them or keep calling them back and getting of the list each time.

Sadly, I will now not contribute to ACS in the near future. I will find other cancer-related organizations to contribute to. If I ever do contribute to ACS again, it will be anonymously.

They just call at all hours of the day & hever leave a message.

As with all telemarketing pond scum, I answer and use a foreign accent -- faking Farci or Hindi really works well. They usually hang up and don't bother you again.

Have been getting repeated calls from this number through mid-evening for months. Leaves no message. Tried the 866-435-7227 number they gave to remove me from their list, but person who answered said it was not ACS. Redialed 866-915-0385, listened until I got the prompt to remove me from their list. If I want to donate, I'll call them, but I don't want to. EVER.

I have been receiving several phone calls from this number, so I called them back on a Saturday and received a recording that stated it was the American Cancer Society's Notes to Neighbors program.

Redialed the number from caller ID, pressed 1 and then 3, entered my 10 digit number, IVR repeated my digits and claimed the number would be removed within 30 days.

We are repeatedly called by this number. My husband first spoke to the caller several months ago. He felt they tricked him into receiving information about them. If he had known they were sending a begging campaign and he would have to send requests for money to his friends and neighbors he would have declined on the spot. He was Very angry with the deceptive tactics used by the caller. We have asked repeatedly to be removed from their call list.
This Time I again asked to be removed and she hung up on me.

caller id showed "out of area" this time the man was polite and said, "sorry dear i'll put down wrong number." other callers have actually cursed at me for asking them to take us off their list or whatever they want.

This is the thanks we get for making donations to the american cancer society.

I will never again. Time for me to research and find a more trustable organization.

I seem to be getting an incomplete call every time I try to dial any of the numbers listed with everyone else. I will keep trying but may be that they are getting wise to our efforts and are working out something else.

I've received several calls from this number, I finally answered the phone. It was a smart ass telemarketer from American Cancer Society. I told him to remove my number from their call list and to stop calling; he said that wasn't going to happen that he could call anytime and as often as he pleased. I hung up on the arse hole.

Hitting 414 area code now. Seems weird that it just hangs up when someone answers.

Got a call from these folks at 8AM! Tried calling 866-435-7227 as suggested. The automated option to be removed apparently no longer exists. Grrrr. I left them a message asking to be removed....we'll see.

Called 09/13/2007 at 9:23 AM PDT No response when I answered, so hung up.

Unknown caller-I don't answer, the caller hangs up without leaving a message. I get these calls twice a day for the past six months. Twice I have picked up and ask them not to call my numner because it is on the do not call list. The person hung up at that time. They continue to call anyway.

Keep getting calls! I called this number tonight. Got a Nicole. Asked who this was, what were they selling. She said they work for different people. Was there something I wanted to purchase. I stated I keep getting calls and I am on a no-call list. Asked how I can get off. She had no idea. She didn't id self as ACS or anyone. Just "Hi this is Nicole"??

I have this no. calling about every day. I have an answering machine, but they want leave a message.

No message & no response to my hello greeting although I hung up immediately after.

How to remove your number:it's the Amer Cancer group calling to get volunteers to mail donation evelopes to neighbors on your street. I called the number again after reading the comment that said "press 1". I pressed 1 and another message and at the end it told me to press 3 if I wanted to remove my number. I did. This the American Cancer Society's toll-free number. Instead of calling the Caller ID number and talking to someone on the other end, call this number and register your complaint and let the ACS know you won't contribute and will pass word to all your friends and family not to donate. Maybe the message will get through that way.

Second day in a row 866-915-0385 says unavailable on my caller ID. I reported this for the second time for them to remove my name and number from their list. So I will call for a 3rd time. This had better stop once and for all. They should have taken care of it the first time it was reported.

As mentioned in the previous comments, it is the American Cancer Society. You can call the number back and have your number added to thier "do not call" list.

I called that number and spoke with Karen and requested my number be removed from their list. She stated she would do that but it may take up to 30 days.

Here's what I posted on another forum: We've been getting calls from this number over the last week. Unfortunately they are indeed exempt from the DNC list. However, it appears that most of these charities call *more* frequently if you've made a donation. MLS is another example.

When my wife complained about the calls I told her there's nothing we can do except to stop all donations to them. Then maybe after a period of time we'll fall off the call list.

It's ashame because she regularly donates quite a bit to the American Cancer Society and MLS. But the annoyance factor is too much so she's agreed to not make any more donations to any of these charities.

I cannot get anyone to answer. How do I stop this number?

This number calls every day, but no one ever talks.

Called the number again after reading the comment that said "press 1". In the recording it doesn't say to press any numbers. I pressed 1 anyway. I got a different message. At the end it told me to press 3 if I wanted to remove my number. I did. It took my number & said it would be removed within 30 days.
