Didn't answer it but i would go with Sprint

Just got another call. For those don't know about US law...

Federal Communications Commission regulations prohibit telemarketers from using automated dialers to call cell phone numbers. Automated dialers are standard in the industry; so most telemarketers are barred from calling consumers on their cell phones without their consent. Customers can file a complaint by e-mail to donotcall@fcc.gov; telephone 1-888-CALL-FCC (1-888-225-5322) voice or 1-888-TELL-FCC (1-888-835-5322) TTY, or mail. The complaint should include:

* Name, address and telephone number where the complainant can be reached during the business day;
* The telephone number involved with the complaint; and
* As much specific information as possible, including the identity of the telemarketer or company contacting you, the date on which you placed your number on the national Do Not Call registry or made a company-specific do-not-call request, and the dates of any subsequent telemarketing calls from that telemarketer or company.

It is sprint. After I recieved numerous calls from this number over the last 2 weeks, I finally heard a voice on the other line asking to speak with my fiancee. The signal was very poor so all i caught was his last name, and then ofcourse they hung up. So out of curiosity and frustration I called sprint about 5 minutes ago and asked if this number was a promotional line. The rep. put me on hold to call the number, then told me yes that it was. If you want you can call sprint or just hit *2 on your phone, but I asked if they could stop the calling and her answer didn't sound assuring so maybe someone else can figure out how to stop it because all she did was switch it to my fiancee's phone.

called by 1-866-862-3983, when I answered they didn't say anythiny and just hangup. I called the phone number back, got Sprint promotion line, entered my phone number and was added to Sprint Do Not Call list.

My new conspiracy theory: These calls originate from Celaya, Mexico and the Country code (52) and City code (461) are being truncated. I cannot explain how they get the extra digits after the Country code and City code to look like the call is from 866-862-3983 but it has been reported that every time someone has actually answered the call they speak in Spanish and one person reported that his caller ID reported 461-866-862-3983 and 461 is the City code for Celaya, Mexico. This would explain why calling 866-862-3983 (which apparently really does belong to Sprint) and entering your number to be removed from the calling list does not work because it is not really Sprint that is calling but someone in Celaya, Mexico trying to reach Spanish speaking Sprint customers and steal their personal information.

They have called me 4 times in the past week. I never answer since I know an 866 number can't be someone I know. It's annoying though!

2 calls per day and no one is there when I answer. Is this really Sprint calling?

Ok this happend to me once before a while back. I called the number back, and they said they were sprint, then they were asking me for my phone model and password. I asked the lady (although it was rough, she apparently didnt speak english very well) why she didnt already know the information. She then responded " Steven C******, rattled off my address and my last 4 of my SoS. I got freaked. hung up on them and was on the phone with sprint a moment later. They said that it was NOT them and that I should get into contact with their fraud department. Long story short nothing happened with it to my knowlage and im starting to get the calls again.

They call mt CELL PHONE at different times of the day, for days on end. They quit for awhile and then start again. Woman on other end is almost screaming on the phone and I can't understand what she says.

Calls about ever other evening around 6 PM but nobody there when I answer.

Yet another call. I actually spoke to someone with a heavy accent. I requested they take my name/number off their list. He said he would. Right. We'll see if they keep annoying me.

I get this call about once every 1-2 weeks. No one ever replies to my pickup. Really annoying!

First it was someone speaking in Spanish mentioning Nextel and we told them to call with an English speaking person. Now it's a few calls a day with just hangups.

It's Sprint/Nextel. The call was in spanish offering me a new phone by adding an extra line and renewing contract. I speak spanish and told them that I wasn't interested. Hopefully they will stop bothering.

This person has been a female or male and they speak only spanish. I speak spanish but told them that I don't. They knew my name! They started calling one week ago and are calling more and more frequently. They have already called twice today before noon. I am thinking of telling them off today - I have been just hanging up.

They called me several times in several days. The call is usually around 6pm though I've seen it as early as 10am. No one ever responds and they give you directions to be removed from their DO NOT CALL list but apparently that does not work because I got called everyday! It is annoying and disturbing and I don't know who to contact! I'm not even a SPRINT customer!!! I'll never be one now!!!!

They call every other day, but today they called at 9am, and at 12pm...on the 12pm call, I answered, and then ended the call, hoping they'll take a hint?

I have the same problem but in my case the number is 461-866-8623983, weird ah? i have the 461 extra. I called Sprint and they cant do anything just change my number. In my case they call twice everyday and both calls are at the same time li for example: 0814 and 0814, just rang half time no even one time, i have no chance to answered.

What can we do?

Got four phone calls at work from this number today. When I say hello, someone with a foreign accent just echoes my hello back. Then they hang up. Very annoying.

This is so annoying... these people have called 14 times in the last four days, calling four times a day.

8 calls over 3 days. Nobody said anything but in the background it sounded like there was a croud of people

I answered and they hung up on me.

Same thing happened to me as RC. They thought I spoke Spanish. I told them I didn't. They a minute later, they were still on the line, I was waiting around for no reason at all, then they told me to hang up. I wonder why they didn't just hang up on me?

Called me and spoke Spanish. When I told them that I don't speak Spanish. They hung up.

Sprint is calling to give more plans. It's a recording and has an option to not receive these calls. I've already requested that THREE TIMES and they STILL call.

Called for the 3rd time and of course it hung up. Called the number back and it was a Sprint recorded message for a new service plan.

I'm receiving calls while I'm at work from this number. They never say anything and hang up. VERY ANNOYING!!

They call every evening around 6:00, weekends and weekdays.
No one responds if I answer the call, and they do not leave a message. It is extremely annoying and disturbing.
