This is DELL COMPUTER calling with an automated message about tracking info for a warranty exchange I have pending with them. This is NOT a bill collector.

No one there... I hung out on the line for about 45 seconds before an automated message begain. It was a Dell Warranty Returns Team 'courtesy call' reminder for me to return parts (even though there was not enough time for them to get back when I returned the faulty parts the same day I rec'd replacement). This isn't normal for Dell in my experience (we do about $1M/annual business with them), I think they've hired some third party for this fiasco.

Automated call service apparently hired by our local school district - the call told us to check our email for a notice. On this day it was that someone had scrawled graffitti on a boys room bathroom that someone would blow up the school. Nothing happened, just the school wanting to be sure we knew what was occurring.

Political robocall. I would like to know how one can opt-out of these...I get about 5 a day and they are annoying.

Companies use this outgoing number to contact everyone on a large list. It could be anyone at any time who has paid to use the service. In my case today it was the New York Jets who called as a message to season ticket holders from the coach.

Received a single call from this number. The voicemail was a message from LifeTime Fitness, and it was for an emergency announcement for one of their facilities. I agree with whomever it was that stated this was some sort of company that handles bulk calls for various clients.
Since LifeTime is a company I do business with, there was no violation of DNC, and it was an informational, non-telemarketing call, so there was no violation of the robocall ban.

Got a call to my business with a recording talking about the ASI Show, a trade show for the printed apparel and sign industry as well as basically any other kind specialty advertising involving a print of some kind.I find it interesting that this number is accosiated with so many different companies, i guess it's a telemarketing company that places bulk calls for clients from a phone list. My business is part of that specialty advertising industry and i have attended those trade shows so makes sense that i would get a call.

Calls 7-10 times per day, is a collection agency for Sprint, who I used to have a wireless laptop card with. The card DOES NOT WORK IN BUILDINGS. Sprint continues to maintain that "it works in your yard" so it is good. I have spent at least 50 hours on the phone trying to CANCEL this service, they DO NOT LISTEN. They PROMISED to have a supervisor call me, but never did. They have suspended the service but have not callcelled it yet, even though I have asked them to. I have my US cellular phone teathered to my laptop and IT WORKS IN EVERY BUILDING AND EVEN UNDERGROUND IN THE LOOP. The SPRINT CARD DOES NOT WORK. I have replied with a certified letter to the collection agentcy that SPRINT HAS SENT AFTER ME, but they refuse to acknowledge that they were NEVER ABLE TO PROVIDE WORKING WI-FI in my house or various INDOOR locations. DO NOT BUY A SPRINT CARD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't care what they tell you, THEY ARE LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was Dell letting me know that a laptop I shipped back for RMA had been received at the depot. It was an automated message and they DID leave a voicemail. Would be nice if their caller ID said "dell support."

unknown....when I answered it was just a recording telling me it was an important matter regarding Macy's to call 1 800 511-3207. It did not say who it was calling or what it was in regard to. I do have a macy's credit card and I am also waiting for their furniture Store to also call me regarding a delivery. so I called them and a man answered who was a little hard to understand with his accent and the other noices on his end of the line. He asked how he could help me and I told him I did not know since they called me and told me to call his number. He said it was probably be because I had either a Macy's or Bloomingdale's account. He asked me for my phone number and my name. I told him and that is when he told me it was a courtexsy call for Macy's with probably a past due balance. he was then able to pull it up and told me my past due date and balance. it was correct because I went onto my Macy's account on my computer. he said he could take a payment over the phone, but I preferred to do it on my computer myself for security reasons since I had never been called this way. he said he would note it on the account and was very nice although it was hard to understand him!

The number was familiar, so I kept dumping the calls, but finally let it go to the answering machine. It was an Illinois state representative, who left a message about town hall meetings.

This Number comes through a "Toll Free". We received 20 calls in less than 30 minutes, this morning.

Recording telling us of a lost person in our area. Sort of an "Amber alert". The person actually was lost and was later found safe.

I got this call yesterday. CID read "voice messaging," so I didn't bother to answer. I just listened to the message that was left on my answering machine and it was a recording of Michelle Obama reminding me of the senatorial runoff election here, in Georgia, tomorrow. Don't mind that call, but I wish that what shows on the CID was a bit more telling.

The call all the time about some old 7 year old cellular one phone bill due. I have never had a cellular phone. They call my home phone and ask for my social security number. They are scammers as far as I'm concerned.

Called my work number at BofA in Charlotte. Must be an autodialer, because I had 6 missed calls from the same # between 7:39pm & 8:00pm.

I called the number back and exercised the option of having my number removed from their calling list. The recording said it would take one day. The next day my number was called THREE times, two hours apart.

Interesting technique to use a local number to test if a number is good before the autodialier rings the phone off the wall. Guess it is time to turn off the ringer again for several months. Answering machine has been off for 18 months now.

I've received a call from this number four times now, from someone who says his name is Scott from Walmart. He says they got my application but I need to log onto a certain website so I can complete the application. I never applied at Walmart and don't know what he's talking about.

I just called the number back and there was a female voice recording saying that I could block them from calling me back if I press one. It said it would take one business day for it to take effect. There was a couple seconds delay in the recording so don't hang up if you hear silence for a second.

They got Callwave and the automated female voice said, "Fine answering machine! Thank you!"

Recorded message told me to go to merchantcircle.com to 'verify' my business. They called a month ago and asked for the same thing. Someone wanted to find out if I was a 'real business!' Why don't they just call here themselves?

I should check on what people are saying about my business (this is a residential number on the DNC list).

merchantcircle.com calling to remind me that i haven't verified my business on their website after someone supposedally found me there. I called the 866-849-3243 number back and there was an option to bave my number blocked from their calls. I did that.....so we shall see.

I hate getting these calls!

I have been receiving calls from this phone number for about 3 days now. They call every 20 minutes or so for 2 hours, and then give me a few hours rest from looking to see who called. They call early in the morning, in the afternoon, and late into the evening. I am lucky that I have Verizon Wireless and have a ringback tone, so every time they call, my phone says, "Please enjoy the music while your party is reached" and then the number calling hangs up. This phone number is making me very mad, especially since I am on the "Do Not Call Registry" with the government!!!

2 calls today, 4 yesterday..and at least 10 last week....I answered once it was a political call but I am getting SICK of it... so I also called the number back like a few others did and had them block my phone number from their stupid auto-dialer..why can’t they just add these creeps to the Do Not Call list...When will the people running for office get it......no freakin phone call is going to change my vote.

I received 7 calls on the 29th of April from these jerks. I do not answer if their is 'no name' so they can call forty times a day. The calls were from 3:06 p.m. PST to 8:30 p.m. PST. If it continues I will have to do something else. I pay my phone bill... they do NOT!

Received call from 866-849-3243, thanking me for being part of the American Cancer Society and letting me know it is National Volunteer Week.

Repeatedly call all day long through all hours of the day and night! Nobody is on the other end it is just a bunch of loud and obnoxious beeps! I called the number back and big surprise, its an automated service saying it is the voice messaging service and they will call me back! I chose the option to have my number taken off their call list and that has never happened. When I have done reverse look-ups there is no record of that number. I am registered on the Do Not Call list and I swear if I ever get a hold of an actual person they will regret calling my number!

I have received a number of calls from this number some as late as 8:30 in the evening. After receiving yet another today, I called the number and a man answere. I asked his name he said Ken. I asked what company I called and he replied, "West at Home". I told him I had been receiving calls frm this number at all hours of the day and night. He said he was surprised becuase they can not call out on the 866 849 3243. He did not volunteer any other information. I thanked him and hung up. On the internet West at Home shows upo as a " Work from Home" emplyment opportunity which acts as a call center for numerous companies. Another website that deals with phone callers said the number belongs to Macy's Collection Department and that they also use 702-366-0303 and 513-573-8739. The person who posted the information saids that they too have recived calls at all hours of the day and night.

Got a call from this number tonight while at work. I called it, after dialing *67 to block, but all I got was a recording of a female voice saying "You have reached the voice-messaging center. If you are calling because you've missed our call, please hang up. We may try your call again later." It went on to to say that if I wished to prevent additional messages, please enter phone number with area code, etc. Not sure I trust that but I'll see how it goes.

The message left by this phone number said they were "Merchant Circle" dot com. Go there and verify your membership by clicking on the red button. Ho hum.

Despite being on the Do Not Call list I got so fed up with all these unwanted calls (including from this number) I found this neat little unit that can be programmed to either block or send unwanted calls to your answering machine without your phone ever ringing! You can add as many numbers as you want and even program it to have ALL 800, 888, 877, & 866 numbers dumped straight into the answering machine. I’ve had it about three weeks and love it. Got 4 calls in 2 hours. I didn't answer any of them. Called the # back and got a message saying that I had reached the message center and that if I wanted my phone # removed to enter it. I did and it said my # would be taken off of the list w/in 1 business day. So annoying! I hate telemarketers or whatever they are. If I want something I'll go buy it myself. I don't need someone trying to sell me something I have not sought out. Plus, I hate my phone ringing after 8 pm at night. Ugh!

Received one call (so far) at noon today at home. They left a message on my answering machine saying it's Macy's and they needed me - using my full name - to call them as soon as possible. I have an account with Macy's, but it's not delinquent, so I have no idea why they are calling me, other than to watse my time.

I keep getting calls from this number. When i pick up there is no one on the line but if i dont, it leaves a message saying "This is not a solicitation, this is a call from MAcys for Pedro (lastname- i forget)"
I am also on the do not call list. I get these calls at least 2 times a week.

Expedite aka Premier Global Services. They are a wholesale telemarketing firm located in Georgia. If you get a political call, tough, these are exempt under any state and federal do not call lists.

If it is a business related call, for merchant services for example, on a phone line you use for any business, tough, these are exempt under any state and federal do not call lists.

I just got a call from these people and I answered it. Contrary to most of the others who have commented on this, I was not given one of those "intended for answering machine" messages BUT the way it was set up is so wrong. It said it was an important business call for some unintelligible name that sounded like Farraq and that they were calling from Capitol something or other. It said to press 1 to speak to someone immediately, 2 for something else..etc. I pressed 1. It did nothing! It continued with its message telling me to contact them at a different number with a reference number and the calling hours included. I didn't have a chance to write down ANYTHING! What a crock! Tell me to press 1 to speak to a person and then ignore me when I do it!

I just recieved a call from this number, it was a public service announcement from MODot about a road closing.

Obviously some kind of phone bank. I've answered twice and get that delay. Shows up as Unknown.

This is not the same as the Do Not Call list. Listen longer from the automated message. A second message will play letting you select to be removed from this list. If you are concernced about attempting this call from a payhone.

When I called back after class, I received a recorded message saying "You have reached the Messaging center. If you are returning our call, please hang up and we may call you again later." Then it gives you an option to have them stop calling you. It seems like this is coming from political campaiging so I haven't put in my number because I want them to call again so I know what politician is responsible for this and know who NOT to vote for. Then I call them back to find out who/what they are, it's some generic voicemail service - no names... "we'll call you back"... what kind of crap is this??? There ought to be a law! Answering machine message was an automated voice advertising "MerchantCircle.com" telling us to go there to receive our rating.

Judging from previous comments, this phone number must be a filter screen number through which many companies can call to keep their identities and return numbers hidden....either that or a boiler room for many spam companies.

Received a call at 12:26 a.m. this morning, very scary being woken up with a flash that the call must be that someone close to me has died, what mother wouldn't think that? Only to find out it was a recording that said "were sorry this call was intended for an answering machine" and hangs up. It is astonishing to see that this has been going on with the same 866-849-3243 number since as early as 2004 and still nothing has been done about it? I filed an FCC Complaint, but come on, I'm sure so has thousands of others since 2004. What the hell something needs to be done!!!!!!!!!

Caller ID showed 866-849-3243 but no company name. I answered and got some stupid recording saying how they found me in Google and that my search engine ranking should be higher and how they can help. I'm on the DNC list and have been for years. I just filed a complaint there against them.

I have gotten several computer-generated recorded messages from this number. The speaker says he's calling because someone at a website called merchantcircle.com gave my business a good report. BS, of course. This is pretty obviously about selling membership in some kind of Better Business Bureau-type thing. No thanks :-) I wouldn't take up their option to press a certain number to not be called again. This probably only confirms that yours is a good number., kind of like "unsubscribing" from spam.

Problem: Telemarketing Abuse

Consumers pay for calls and text messages received on their cell phones. More than ever, consumers are being harassed on their cell phones by telemarketers and businesses trying to sell goods or services. Unfortunately, these calls and text messages result in charges or a reduction in the consumers’ available bank of minutes. As a result, these harassing calls and text messages cost money. Consumers feel powerless to stop unwanted calls from companies who do not have express permission to call them.

Why Are We Suing The Telemarketers?

These calls may be illegal. The federal government and many states have enacted laws to prevent consumers from being harassed by telemarketers on their cell phones. These laws allow consumers to pursue damages or penalties and seek an order stopping the calls and text messages to their cell phones.

“I received a call from this number on my 30 cents per minute prepaid cell phone. I use it for emergencies only and only family members have the number so it would be interesting to hear how they got my number.”

“The XXXXX is entirely welcome to pay my cell phone bill if they think it’s cool to use up my minutes. Screw them, I’m tired of them calling. I don’t want to hear from them!!!!!”

Rcvd call at 7:45 PM Sunday evening, 01.28.08 - stated another business posted a rating to my business as found thru Google. Message requested I call Merchant Services at 866.849.3234 - phoned, got voice mail and followed prompt to remove number from their data base.

19 calls in one day. No message left and they call 4 times an hour. One message was left saying that Macy's was calling.

calls come in after 7pm... never leave a message - getting very tired of all the marketing calls.

Macy's, a department store, teamed up with (outsourcing) tele-collection agency like Xpedite who owns 866-849-3243 (now Xpedite removed this# from its site after being exposed by commentors on this scheme); Macy's gave the tele-collection agency Macy's customer's names & phone#, asking the Tele-CA to fire rapid collection calls; Tele-CA's doesn't have Macy's customers' acccount#, its task is to use computer programmed calls to force Macy's customers to pay Macy's "delinquent" or at least "confirm" if it is his/her phone#. Now Macy's customers' names & phone# are permanent assets of the tele-collection agencies who are also doing telemarketing. Related #s used by Macy's telecollection agency are: 702-366-0303; 513-573-8739 Seems Macy's customers will receive tele-collection calls Macy's "believes" you owe something; if you don't, you receive tele-marketing calls unless you change your # and cancel Macy's cards.

Left no messages, I answered once, it said that it was an important call from Macys which required my immediate attention, told me Macy's business hours and gave the option to visit their website. But for crying out loud, why in the world do I need 10 calls in 1 hour?!?!?! For Goddess sake LEAVE ME BE!

This was on my business line. It said, "Sorry to have bothered you. This message was intended for an answering machine." And hung up on me! This is ridiculous! I have 5 lines. They have called all 5. All of them are registered on the Do Not Call list.

On a no call list, yet continue to call. One time I answered a similar call and it was the Ohio State Troopers Association who said they were exempt from the no call list. So smokey bear can solicite for more money after they already are paid by the gasoline taxes and state income taxes and don't have to abide by the federal law of no calls because they are non-profit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Five times a week, three weeks long now.
Called Macy's corporate office and told them it has become harrassment and has to end. Lady was nice and said she was sending out messages and told me to call her back if continued.
You'd think, if you cannot contact a person using an auto dialer (or second party dialer), someone would finally make a call in person to realize the person they are looking for does not live here.
The pre-recorded message first states, "this is not a solicitation", however, it has legally now become harrassment.

I received a call today from this company for our company which "NO LONGER EXISTS" and has not for about 3 yrs now. The call was an automated call saying that our company had just received an excellent rating from a customer who googled the business name. I immediately went to check this out since we haven't done business for 3 yrs and there was no rating at all. I don't know if they are trying to get people to confirm their number so they can show us as a customer or what they are doing. Our number is also on the Kentucky "do not call" list to keep this type of stuff from happening. I don't know what can be done about it but would like to know if anyone has any ideas. Thanks

This is a ploy to get u to visit their website. It worked I checked it out and since we are a small business it was really neat to see all the people in my community signed onto this.

I got this in conjunction with a message from the FL Blood Center, asking me to go in and donate again. At least in my case I can see the link with someone I've dealt with legitmately. Still annoying though.

If you look at what they do - they are are message delivery service for hire. This way if someone wants to get a message to you from their business - instead of making thousands of calls - or having the capacity to make those calls from their call centers (at a cost) - they hire these idiots to make the call for them. Gives a whole new meaning to don't shoot the messenger I guess eh?

Question is whether or not the "REMOVE" feature works even if the company hiring them wants to get you their message. Mine was from a credit card company that's too lazy to call themselves apparently.

this number called my house phone at 5:37 then my cell phone at 5:47 - i called it back and blocked it from both phone numbers it said that it should be removed w/in 1 business day but i might get other calls until the block is in effect.

Said my computer repair business had been googled & a postive review posted on merchantcircle.com. Go to the website & enter my phone # to see the review. This is a lie -- my phone number is not used for a business (it's listed in 1 of the yellow page directories as a business in error).

Got 2 calls within 5 minutes. Answered the second time and got what sounded like fax tones. I called back and got a message saying I reached 'the message center' and that if I wanted my number removed to enter it. That really seems like a scam for them to determine which numbers are 'real people' vs. fax/data and unused numbers so you should probably call expedite and just harass them to relieve your frustration.

I have two business landlines and I never know if they are calling in to the business expansion line in which case their call costs ME a nickel every time they push a fax or robo-voice message (or oftentimes just dead air) on me, which is now at least twice a day.

Additionally, when I leave the office I forward the calls to my cell phone, which costs me again for each incoming. The caller ID on my cell phone does not display caller info unless I've already entered it into my cellphone's database, and I have more than a few clients whose outgoing ID is spoofed to show their main Toll Free number so I have to deal with every such call when on the cellphone.

I have received a number of unsolicited FAXes from these guys. I finally caught them with *69. I called the number, they said, "Welcome to the Message Center". They had a telephone tree menu to opt out and they knew what number I was calling from (all automated). It chugged along and said they would stop within 1 business day.

Political call this time regarding a cancer research funding proposition. I called ACS told them to look at this site and maybe reconsider who they contract to represent them. If you call the same number, you can have your number blocked on their call list. You don't have to call from the number you want blocked, either. It will give you the option to enter another number. And, it will tell you how long it will take to remove your number from the list after you're done.

Caller ID shows up as Toll Free Number. A man left a message stating that there was a bad review for our company on their website merchantcircle.com and that we needed to visit the website to check it out. It was a real person that called and from how it was spoken, it was apparent they were reading it from script. After checking their website, we found that they had incorrect and incomplete information regarding our company and no reviews of any sort. It appears to be a company that wants you to register your name and or company and hopefully make money off you. My only guess is that they are getting information from the yellow pages directory.

First call at 5:00 am, second call at 5:10 am, third call at 5:20am!!! I finally had to unplug my phone. Why should I have to do that? I am also on the Do Not Call List.

No message, no person, just dead air. Two calls 15 minutes or so apart.

The company that keeps calling is at web address info.xpedite.com The owner or CEO is Travis Lee Provow from Atlanta Georgia. Haven't found his number yet, but I will and I'll pass it on to everyone of you. This way we can call him at home in the middle of the night and see how he likes it.

This # with Unknown Name called me twice today (08/14/2007, last call at 11:20 AM). I recognize this number as calling previously. I have filed a complaint with the National Do Not Call Registry. I too called the # and got an Answer Service recording that talks about pressing 1 to have # blocked. It is ambiguous. Companies & individuals doing this kind of business should be terminated.

Local congressman calling to notify of a "town meeting". Didn't answer the first time, recalled @ 5:25 PM on 23 August 2007. I have been on the DNC since the very first day but I believe congressmen are exempt although they shouldn't be. In fact, NO ONE should be exempt - WE should be able to choose those with whom we do not wish to communicate. I tried to send my message to remove me from the list but the message TO me didn't start until after my messaged ended. Guess you can't tell a recording not to call again.

And you know these scammers are going to sell your business number. And you then wonder why you are getting a ton of telemarketing calls at your place of business.

Calls several times a day. I ether hang up or don't answer. When I do answer they hang up, seems to be a telemarketing boiler room deal trying to find out when someone is home. Very simple to take casre of. Simply call back. You will get a recording that gives you the option of being removed from their calling list. According to the recording this only takes 1 business day to take effect. Problem solved. I just LOVE it when things are easy like that!!

This is a phoney company. BEWARE !! They are after your checking account and credit card numbers. Do not release any information to this company. If you try to opt out, they will get your phone number and continue trying to contact you. They will use the excuse that someone you paid off forwarded your information to them. Chances are they already know your name and your bank routing number. If they are able to obtain your bank info, they will make small withdrawals from your account..as many as 3 a day..disguised as a bill pay. This company was recently operated out of Florida near St. Petersburg and Largo. Don't be a victim of fraud. Best to add more security to your bank accounts such as an extra password to keep these people out. Their prior business name in Florida was Distinct Advantage, another phoney company.

Phone rings, you answer, they hang up. Did a search for the toll free number and came up with Xpedite. I have a No Solicitation recording on my phone and it was ignored by this company. I suggest we ALL file a class action suit against this company for harassment.

Received a call about 9PM PDT on my office phone.
No caller ID name just this number. The call put a different display on my Treo 650 (my office phone forwards to my cell after business hours).
I don't know how they caused the phone to change the display.
I didn't answer nor call back the number.

I logged on after being worried about a potential bum rap from some 15 year old blogger only to find that I had 0 reviews about my business in a cheap attempt to sign up for their internet marketing scheme! The business is in Virgina out of a PO Box.

A recording told us our business had a "bad rep" on the web and told us to go to merchantcircle.com, which was a gimmick to get us to sign up. Also on that website it listed the company as RSS, which was another 800 phoney number I had looked up earlier.

apparently this is a trunk number used by numerous companies. while it may be a pain in the butt. i dont think you will be able to do much about it,. now if the company left a message than that is a different story

This was a pre-recorded message from the temp agency I work for. When they're short on people, they call everyone on their list with these messages, telling us to get our asses in to the office and work.

I didn't pay much attention to because I knew from the outset that it was a robo-call. I just listened through it to hear who was responsible. The caller identified himself as a "voter from Memphis" (I think -- somewhere in TN for sure), and went into a rant about did I want my taxes raised, Harold Ford had voted for such and such a bill that would raise my taxes, and I should call Ford's office to let him know what I thought about that. Then came the message, "Paid for by American Value."

Called on 11/02/2006 at 10:59 a.m. rang once and before I could answer they apparently hung up because it didn't ring again. I called the number the recording said, "You have reached the voice messaging system, if you called because you missed our call please hang up we may try again later" and then went on to say that if you wanted to discontinue receiving calls to enter phone number and press #. I did so, then got a message saying the block would take effect in one business day and I may get calls again until the block took effect.

Interestingly enough, today's call from this number was a recording from Ameren (the local electric company). They reminded me to change my clock / change my smoke detector batteries and to winterize my house to save electricity. It was only about a 30 second recording.

Call was recorded message in support of Chris Gabrieli, candidate for MA governor. Smeared the 2 other democratic candidates O'Reilly and Patrick. I had already called Mr. Gabrieli's campaign several weeks ago about receiving recorded messages from his campaign and was promised they would stop. He also is not a very green candidate- using a lot of trees with all of the junk mail he is sending. As I have told his campaign office, they have turned off an informed voter who will not support this candidate who invades my privacy and peace and quiet. He's not alone- Mr. Patrick's campaign received the same message after calling here. I might have to vote for the Independent Mihos or, gasp, the Republican Healey!
