Who Called Us

it is sprint! if you want to know, answer in SPANISH. they are obviously targeting us. Send complaints to Sprint! this is round three for me. First 888-657-6537 then 866-847-4509, now 888-862-3983. If you get a call, answer in spanish and they will answer and try and sell you something, if you answer in english, they hang up and you can't call back to complain. Send a complaint to sprint at executive.offices@sprint.com, you will get a stupid response but if enought of us complain they may stop. I will next file a complaint with the fcc now that i know i really is sprint

I canceled my SPRINT service more than a month ago. Got nothing but annoying calls and the run around from their so-called customer service and, like Anabel above, I know that somehow, someway they are involved. Now they want 160+ for each line I canceled! I am going to e-mail my congressman and ask for guidance on filing a formal complaint/class action lawsuit. It seems that laws against telemarketing cell phone numbers and registering your cell phone on the national DO NOT CALL LIST just isn't enough to make these people understand!

Could it be that they did another rotation in the numbers? Well guys, I can only support what worked for me and that was contacting those people I listed. Its happening to me too. Texas.Hispanic.I think its sprint that is behind all this.I just have that gut feeling its them.I only have 200 minutes on my plan and unlimited sprint to sprint. I just dont trust them....they are always charging me extra for things. The number is Now 888-657-6537.

I was also getting calls from this phone number (866)847-4509 (3-5x a day). Now it's (888)657-6537 and far more frequent (at least 5-8x a day). I'm pretty much fed up.

hey guys the name of the company calling you guys is startec, its a company that leases its number from level three communications, you can report them to the fcc like i did. the info was given to me by level three after i treatened with a lawsuit

I thought this torment has ended but it is beggining again...I am getting a call from this number every now and then starting yesterday I have been getting calls from this other stupid number 888-657-6537...this sucks so much...... Hey Luis are you still out there man?

FCC has been contacted and I will be stepping this up!

Same trouble here... but it's my home phone. This has been going on for ages we though it was someone playing games. Until today where my wife spoke to them. They asked if they were speaking to _____. Then hung up. What they don't know is I work for the phone company so I can push alot more buttons than a regular joe. Here's the kick my phone number is unlisted. So it's not a telemarketer exploit for the white pages. My wife has only two accounts Capital One and Sprint/Nextel. So it's not CapOne...hmmm! My hunch is Sprint sold info to telemarketers or the other end of the spectrum they got hacked.
I use a special voice over IP that logs all calls

they call at least 4 times a day . I am also a hispanic sprint customer. This has been going on 4 2 months

Received 2 calls in 2 days. Caller ID just showed the number. Didn't pick up either. Just called back from a land line an dit said, "Your call could not be completed as dialed."

Everyday twice a-day... WHO IS THIS!!!!

I've been getting daily calls, at least 3 times a day, from this number for the past 3 weeks. It is bizarre. At first I ignored it, then I answered once and got the dead air. I immediately thought it was my deceased mother trying to contact me (she's been dead 10 years). I used to have a phone number very similar to this one, so I made an unconscious link which led to this bizarre idea. (It's not the first time).

Anyway, they're still calling. Do the calls ever stop?

I've been receiving these calls for two weeks. It is really driving me crazy. When I tried to return the calls, it is a message sating that the number is wrong. Yes, I am hispanic and have Sprint.

As Luis has suggested, Just review the messages, most of them posted up by Luis and myself. See the list of emails on there and try to complain to some of those people to see who can help you out. So far I have not received any more calls. So the main think to do is COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN, COMPLAIN.....and Don't let "them" win..

Issa, we don't know what the number is. Like you, we all chose to pop it into a seach engine and see who it was and ended up here. I suggest you e-mail the previously provided e-mails including the FCC.

I agree with roy. You should complain to all the e-mail addresses you find above. That's how i got my issue resolved. Now i'm just hanging out here trying to help others with the same issue.

Andy, The best advice I can give you is look at the messages posted on this messsage board and just complain, complain, and keep complaining to anyone you think might help.

I did give Sprint my Number and they said they added it to a "list of numbers" blocked from all sprint advertisement. I would e-mail that sprint rep i provided for you guys. How was your experience with her Roy? Mine was very satisfactory.

I received a couple of emails from the FCC, and Sprint. I got one similar to yours Luis from the FCC and a response from Mrs. Amick who said she was thankfull for the feed back and that she would pass along the site. That was all. I also got this from Sprint today....

MLB,Rosie, and others, I am not too sure what you can do, only complain to the FCC and Sprint and the alleged company behind this called 8x8.com...I have only done that and my calls have stopped so far...What ever you do don't give them your number if they ask for it...at this point I don't trust any company...so I don't want to give any of my personal info..Just email and complain..

This number calls me every day at 8:30AM almost on the dot. Its really annoying, what do I do to make it stop??

im glad this isnt only happening to me.. i get a wake up call from them at 6am and then for the duration of the day about 4x. I would say something to them but they dont even answer. The FCC contacted be because I e-mailed them a complaint about 8x8 and this phone number. So it took them a while but they gotback to me. It's amazng now when the hone rings i know its really for me. Too bad it's been as quiet as a mouse.

Since last I was here. I have received no calls from this number. It's 9:38am 1/15/2007 and I still have yet to receive a call. How ever the FCC contacted me, and asked me "if you wish the FCC to act on your behalf and serve your complaint on the carrier(s) involved, you may file a complaint by completing our online Consumer Complaint Form 475 at fcc.gov; or by sending a letter summarizing the complaint to Federal Communications Commission, Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau, Complaints, 445 12th St., SW, Washington, D.C. 20554; or by calling our Consumer Center at 888-225-5322."

Tiana, I dont think you should be on the line to long with them. I heard, not sure if its true, but they may be trying to scam you and trying to get you to stay on the line for as long as they can to take away your minutes. Be carefull...

Man I got 7 calls from this number today and when someone answered they asked me if I speak spanish and I got my friend on the line who speaks spanish and she told me they were trying to sell some phones and when she agreed to buy it they hung up on her and kept calling my phone back.

Roy, that is good to know that you send an e-mail to her. This way they know that its more then just 1 customer. If they dont respond in the next 24 hrs i'd sent them another one. She seemed to be very helpful. Still no calls. How about you roy and everyone?

The friend that i showed this link to and was also getting similar calls was also a Sprint Customer. She is also in Texas. Did you send an e-mail the e-mail i provided Roy?

That is correct Luis, it is not time to celebrate yet. No calls as of yesterday or today, just hope it stays that way. I am still emailing anyone who can help us out, cause this may not be the only number that bugs us.

No calls, but i am still not celebrating. I e-mailed this site to one of my close friends and they seem to also be having this issue, but with another number. So, in a way this site does help very much with tracking down to the best of our abilities the ones responsible and/or at least give us ideas for taking action.

As for this service, all I know from the top right hand corner of this website is that its a PUBLIC SERVICE (venotec) venotec.com.... This site has helped me...would like to know who to say thank you to. Since I started posting on this site I have received help from other people on the message board. To email so and so and call here and there....Thanks to everyone who has helped, so far so good. No more calls...

thats great, that you have contacts at Univision, "person from Texas". I am from texas too, and I had also received a long time ago 2 or three calls from a FLORIDA number.... As for the 8668474509, I did not receive any calls yesterday and none today so far.... Does anyone else here want to get attention from Univision???? If so post something on this message board. Ummm I have a sidekick 3 and I've been getting these calls for the last week or so and I even got written up at work because this phone number kept calling me. I guess my name sounds hispanic but I have t-mobile, not sprint and am half black and half cuban. Maybe we all signed up for the same website or something? The phone number showed up on my cell phones caller I.D. I called the number back and get a recording the number is no longer in service.

got a call from this #. I didnt pick up b/c i didnt recognize it. I then did a google search and found this site. i was also receiving calls with the same m.o. and it stopped afte a couple of weeks. has anyone been able to block calls on your cell phone. i wa advised by sprint that they cant block calls from toll free numbers.

POSSIBLE BREAKTHROUGH! Sprint called me "Stephanie Amick" we spoke about this issue and she states that they are currently sending the paperwork to the FCC regarding this number. She is a really nice person, who i think might be able to help us in this situation. Canceled my Sprint service and basically told them that I suspect they are behind all of this. I told them I have 2 lines, one for bills/business that uses practically no minutes and one only for trusted friends/family which is posted *nowhere*. I was getting these annoying calls on my personal line only! What are the odds of hispanic sounding last names with Sprint #'s being the only ones suffering from some "random" number generation algorithm? (their explanation by the way). As of Monday 9:00 pm, I've gotten no calls. I AM DEFINITELY INTERESTED IN MAKING SOMEONE PAY FOR THE COST OF CHANGING SERVICE AND MY NUMBERS WHICH I'VE HAD FOR YEARS!

Yes I have been receiving fewer calls. Maybe they started reading this site and diminished the amount of calls. Still if we have our history of missed calls we can report it and not look like liars. I believe that if we dont follow thru it will be the same issue with the same or another number.

I'm down. I think we need to call up a local station. I think those big news stations like CNN or MSNBC would give a Fugde about this. It could be a coincidence, but my calls have diminished since coming on here and calling an e-mailing these people about the issue. Weather or not this is a coincidence i have no idea. Today i've only had 1 call normally it would be up to like 4-5 by now. on the weekend NONE. when normally it would be 10 a day.

Unfortunately at this time we are unable to block the phone number for you. The best I can suggest if it is not to much for of a hassle for you is to change your Sprint PCS phone number by contacting Customer Care at 1-888-211-4727 from a separate line other then your handheld device.

As well if you are receiving harassing phone calls it would be best to contact your local authorities to see if they are able to have the caller stop.

hey guys, i canceled my service with sprint and they say i'm crazy because they havn't have any problems of this kind.
i'm sure sprint is doing this for some reason probably to make people change # and renew contract. my contract was going to be over in 4 months, is your contract almost expire?

I get atleast 4 calls a day. I would call back and it says # is disconnected. Finally I answered and they said is this Alicia ****** and I said yes, and then in spanish they asked if i spoke spanish.. I said no and they hung up and I never heard back from them

Roy, I also am skeptical of doing that. I would suggest sending them this web link. This should tell them that it's not only you that get's these annoying calls. I would ask why they need your number or anyone elses? Seeing as how that number which is harrassing multiple people is theirs. See what happens then. How did you get thru, i send them an e-mail and got no reply.?

I got the same replies, but I got another one from the 8x8 company and they want my cell number to investigate whats going on. I am afraid of giving them my number, cause it may result in more calls, what do you think.

Roy, all got from Sprint was the Automated "we will respond within 24 hrs" and another auto from the mass e-mail to sprint of the "Were out of the office today" message. Other then that. Nothing solid.

lets see.... Hispanic, Sprint subscriber, harrassed about 4 times a day, everyday, in the last month. I heard that it was a scam, that they would try to keep you on the line, as long as they could so they could rob your minutes. I am not sure if that info is accurate. Have any of you complained via e-mail. I have just sent about 10 complaints, anyone get a response? Hope this non sense ends soon, cause its driving me nuts!!!!!!!!

Ok, so I e-mailed the suggested people as well as file a complaint with Sprint, i've e-maild the 8x8 company with NO REPLY. I'm going to give it about 5 days before i cancel my service, if anyone is with me, we could all pick a day and cancel our services, making sure they know why.

Some of you have said that there was a Spanish speaking person on the line when they did respond. What did they say? Were they trying to sell you something, did you ask where they got your number. Ive never had anyone respond when I pick up, but I've sent them straight to voicemail a few times and I heard them. All I got was "halo? halo?" though

The mayority of you are hispanic, have sprint and get these calls? We could all get together and do some of the following:
1.)Send a mass e-mail to the FCC everyday for the next month.

2. ) Threaten to drop our service provider [1-2 people dont matter, but i bet between all of the people who are experiencing this isue might draw attention].

3.) Call up the company 8x8 and complain, as well as send e-mail.

4.) This is harrasment, i believe we could file a class action lawsuit.

Someone mentioned they have a sprint phone, I have one too, don't know if there is a connection, but same thing, they are calling about 3 times a day for the past month. And yes, I'm Hispanic, well actually my brother says I'm a coconut - but WHATEVER.

They call my # 3 - 4 times a day- same thing as the others- Spanish speaking if they speak at all. Sprint is my carrier.

we've been sold out...literally. there appear to be a couple of common denominators: most of us have sprint as our carrier, and most of us are hispanic. I know that there are exceptions. it is becoming icreasingly evident that sprint may have sold our information to a marketing firm. target? hispanic clients. if this is the case, one must ask: does sprint have the right to sell our private information? the exceptions to the above exist when changes occur after the information is sold.

They keep calling every fucking day! I'm going to kill them when I find out who they are or better yet twist their nipples!

THIS NUMBER JUST KEEPS CALLING MY CELL PHONE AT LEAST 3 TIMES A DAY. I ANSWERED THE CALL ONCE AND THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR WEEKS!!!

I get three to four calls a day. It has been going for three weeks. What is the best way to get rid of this?

1) do you think Sprint is running some sort of scam?

2) have you called Sprint?

3) what do you think is the whole purpose of this?

well I first got the company Level3 Communications from someone else who posted here. So i called there number which is one of those which i posted earlier and went through the hassle of speaking to like 4 different people. They were very reluctant to give me the information but they represent Packet8 or 8x8 who is behind these calls. I also have some new emails where you can email to complain. I have not recieved any calls today so far.Thank God! here are the emails.

I did a Google search for this phone number is how I ended up here. I, too, have been getting daily phone calls from this number...about 4-5 times a day. There is nobody on the other end when I answer.

they've been calling me up to three times a day for the past month. no one says anything if i answer... just automatically hangs up after about 5 seconds. a fake (and very poor quality) recording answers if i call it back, saying the number is no longer in service, repeats once, plays the sound of a disconnected or busy phoneline (but it's that sound recorded badly, not the real sound) and then hangs up. i've been getting the 8am and 9am calls, too. then again around 11am and 3pm or so. this is HIGHLY annoying! i work overnight... so i'm asleep at these times and it wakes me up!!! if anyone knows who this is, we should all band together for some sort of class-action harassment lawsuit.

i can't believe this. these people have been calling me for days (6x's yesterday) and no one is on the other end. the very first time this number called my phone, i spoke to someone (in Spanish) and it was a telemarketer trying to sell cell phones. i hung up angrily and they've been bothering me ever since but with no one on the other end. i have a sprint cell phone. sprint is unable to block the calls. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

if you have a problem with this # 866 847-4509 don't pay a penny as you will fall for it. just make a complaint to the fcc and they will take care of this problem. ALL THIS CALLS ARE FRAUD!

all this freeking sites call your phone # so you can pay them then they stop calling it's a scam!!!!

hmmm Tony D, funny that you mention HSBC. I recently applied for a position there and these calls started about a week or so after I submitted my cell phone number... Anyone else make similar connections?

Have received this calls from this number for about 2 weeks now. Everyday at least twice a day with some days, 3 or 4 times. Very annoying. I've only answered couple of times before and now I don't because no one is on the other line. When I call back, the number is disconnected or unavailble. I really wish these calls will stop now.

oh my god i didn't think more people were getting calls from the same number. They started calling me a few days ago, and they don't leave message, when i pick up, nobody says nothing, then when i call back, the number either no longer exists or it's being disconnected (wtf?!)
Last time i said "keep calling and you'll get arrested". I also called my cell phone company to report the number..
