How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the
FTC. - Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Caller ID is Toll Free Call. They want you to buy postage and send out their scam letters to your good neighbors so it will be post marked in your town. I think we should all say ok send them out and then trash them when they arrive.

I am on the National Do Not Call List and all of a sudden I started getting hang ups. At least I could tell a person not to call anynore. Why call if your not going to talk? What can be done about numbers that call and hang up?
Called 3 times within a 5 minute span. Let answering machine pick up each time. First 2 calls the hung up. Third time they tried to get me to answer by saying my name. I have had previous call from the American Heart Assoc. at all hours of the day and evening. I do not answer any of them. Don't they get the hint that you will not answer.
They've called several times this week, including today (Sunday). When I have answered, no one says anything.
Yup, it's the American Heart Association (or rather, the slimy telemarketers who say they're them and keep a piece of the money donated)
Since everyone has picked up on there other number, they've tried to switch to this one. They called at 8:36 AM,we left the answering machine pick up, they didn't leave a message.
Like MOI said - a new nuisance. Even Google couldn't find the number for this "Unknown Name". They called at 8:37 AM. My machine picked up - caller said nothing and hung up. The number is close to American Heart Assoc. (866-839-9604) It has me wondering....
Couldn't pronounce my name correctly and I couldn't understand a word she said. Called at 8:04 a.m.
