How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

called twice today (mornig and afternoon) and no response when the phoen was answered
.
Blank, unsolicited machine without a message.
called 3 times in one day, left no message, no name on the caller ID. I agree, the Do Not Call list is a joke. I get more calls now than I ever got before.
It is an automated system.
Appears to be a number for multiple places.
Since I called it back from a different number, I got a recording that they did not recognize how to route my call and asked me to enter my 10-digit phone number.
I entered it and for me this was for my AAA renewal.
They do give you the option of pressing 1 to be removed.
Blank caller ID but recorder message left from Sick Kids Hospital tanking me for donation.
Received a recorded message from an Asian lady requested money for the floods in India. Stated she was calling from Unicef. Wth our government paying out tens of millions of dollars to India I think they have a cheek to be calling homes asking for more. Yes, its terrible there are awful floods, but it has happened many times before and will again, are we supposed to bail out every time. I'm angry...enough is enough! I will be contacting Unicef directly. No Call Regustry isn't working.
This person calls days and evenings- they never leave a message.
Computer voice message from Taste of Home .com regarding out of stock item I ordered.
First call from this number at 1:30 PM EDT. Call seemed to be a lunatic listener but, from comments I see on this site, it may be AAA. My membership renews shortly.
Hmm they only could have gotten my cell number from Leon's, I gathered that much from reading other comments left here. Whoever it is that called, called me four times today on my cell. I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message, if I don't recognize a number I won't answer it. Do Not Call List, is a joke.
I resent calls being made without identification of person calling. I am on the no-call list but this appears to be irrelevant to these callers.
Blank, unsolicited machine without a message.
Answered - no one on the other line.
It was an automated message telling me that my AAA membership was about to expire. I paid it 2 weeks ago...
1 866 786 3394 called and left message stating that i must attend the AUMNI meeting in a toronto canada college may 28 2009// never been to canada and DEFINITELY never attended college there.
It was an automated call telling me my order from Yves Rocher was shipped... how annoying. A simple email would have sufficed.
I received a call yesterday from this number. When I checked the message later it was from AAA telling me my membership was about to expire.
I received a call about 2 weeks ago from this number and it was UCare, telling me I would get a very important letter from them. from what I have been able to learn 866-786-3394 is an electronic company that does nuisance calls for many companies. It just puts all the phone numbers on its machine and away it goes. We must get some protection from this type of advertising. Everyone call your state offices and contact your federal and state representatives. There must be a way to get on the no-call list.
It was Triple-A telling us our membership will expire at the end of the month.
VoiceMail picked up the last part of a canned message about buying tickets to symphony events.
The message included "if you do not want to receive these calls press 1".
Pressing 1 made that part of the message repeat again.
got one call. Silence.
Called back -> "Your international call can not be dialed ....."
Call came to Kansas on 2-6-09 @11:18 hours. Not answered and no message left. The best idea for this number is that it goes to Tenor CMS Gateway and represents several customers including AAA and the large Canadian furnature store Leon's Furnature. On another site, a poster had done come work on this number and placed this post in September, 2007, suggesting a Voice Over Protocall outfit"

"Caller ID 1-866-786-3394 - "Tenor CMS Gateway"
Nobody on the line when I picked up the phone.
When I called back and was told, like "AF" above that my number did not correspond to any clients (or something like that) and I should enter a phone number. I have Vonage with 2 numbers on it, so I punched in my other phone number and was told they they were trying to contact me concerning the "Leons customer appreciation event taking place this Saturday. Press '1' to be removed from the call list." (which I did.)
Leons is a furniture store and I did make purchases from them and I do receive advertising mail from them.
Based on my experience and the other comments above, I am assuming:
- The company calling (let's call it ANNOY-INC) provides the service of contacting customers from other companies, attempting to automatically inform them of events or provide them with information. Presumably, in addition to Leons Furniture, they also provide this service to Columbia House, AAA, and probably others.
- Your phone number got on the list because you (or the person who had your phone number before you) gave it to somebody.
- When I search for "Tenor CMS Gateway" on Google, I come across a provider of VoIP technologies called QUINTUM.COM, so I'll bet ya that ANNOY-INC bought this technology and set up a phone number under the name of "Tenor CMS Gateway" because that's the name on the VoIP box they bought.
- When you call back they try to match your number (or the number you punch in) against their list of phone numbers, associated with any number of offers/programs/events/promotions/companies etc. and if found can play the appropriate response. For me it was Leons, EJ got some PETA propaganda, Timmy C got Columbia House, etc.
- The reason they can't be heard much of the time is that they're using VoIP and it's hardly the most reliable phone system mankind has invented.
- If you can punch in a phone number they're looking for, I assume pressing '1' will actually you off the list...until I buy something else at Leons."

Message left on my machine states "press 1 if this is not an inconvenient time to take this call or stay on the line" Well, this is poor English. Either way you would have to talk to the people!
automated message saying it's AAA about my insurance - press 1 to be connected - press 2 if now's not a good time
We get called from this number 3 times every day for weeks now.
The number is from Emerald Research. When you call back you get a message to call 1 888 268 2136.That number is just another answering machine.
I didn't answer..... I googled it while the phone was ringing.
Sometimes I loudly answer "F.U." to these calls.
I feel sorry for the people who work in these places, but it's not my problem.

Call was from AAA wanting to remind me it is time to renew my membership. Problem is, I renewed it 2 months ago and it is good for 15 months. WTH are they doing besides wasting money and my time.
Called twice and when I answer there is complete silence. So annoying.
called everyday before noon, picked up but no answer.....annoyed!!!
Junk voicemail left, telespamming "Twelve Angry Men" - I guess I'll be boycotting Mirvish Productions from now on.
2008.05.26 11 a.m.: Recorded message telling me that I can renew my subscription...
National Arts Centre, Ottawa (Ontario) Canada
worst part: I had already renewed.
It was AAA Motor Club about my membership renewal. I answered on the second ring and it took about 20 seconds for a human to finally respond, the auto dialer syndrome at it's best. Figured it I didn't answer it they would just keep calling. Told the rep. to remove my name and number from the list as I wasn't renewing and didn't want to be bothered...said No Problem, we'll see if it works.
I live in Ontario, Canada. I called the number back by first dailing *67 then the number only to reach an automated message wanting me to type in the number I was calling from...yeah right! At no time was a company name identified.
Yup.. AAA. stands for "ayy...Ayyy...AYYYY! Stop Calling me already!!"
It was AAA for me and there was an option to opt out of further calls. We shall see if that works...
Recorded message left on answering machine offering $10 Target card to renew AAA membership.
The phone number is from Ingrid E. Newkirk (PETA) It's a recorded message wanting donations. ONLY members of PETA get calls.
Because of the number of annoying calls from telemarketers - many of them repeats, I now pick the receiver up and give them dead air. No conversations, no "hello" no "no thank you" just silence ...until they hang up. I have NEVER purchased anything - goods or services, from a telemarketer and have no intention to do so in the future; so, calling me is a waste of time for both of us. With the silence added to these unwanted sales calls, they can now waste their time and be frustrated too.
Just a pause then CONGRATULATION..
What is interesting about that, 'bothered', is that by contacting anything like that back, responding to an email, clicking on a link on an email that says 'take me off', it just 'confirms' there is a human being on the other end, and now your information is more valuable :)
I seriously vote for the strip offenders down naked, tie them to the back of a Plymouth, douse them in lemon juice, and drive them around a broken field of glass and televise it.
This phone calls and crap that is killing trees and filling up my mailbox with needless crap that is not addressed to me should be penalized right up there with any sort of physical assault, in my opinion.
Automated message from AAA with "money saving tips". Must be a generic company that calls on behalf of different clients.
Leon's furniture, customer satisfaction survey. Had something delivered from them on Saturday.
It's PETA calling with a taped message. If you call back there is an option to be taken off the call list.
Leon's furniture
Didn't answer and they left no message. Tenor CMS seems to be a model of VOIP equipment
