I have tried to get these people to stop calling me since I do not know the person they are looking for. How can I stop them?

My husband gets numerous calls nightly on his cell phone from this number starting around 5pm after he gets home until @ least 9:30pm, he never answers because he doesn't recognize the number and they never leave a message. And well after reading all the information from all you wonderful people on this site, I will tell him to just keep letting it ring and go to voice mail.

They called and said we owed money. However, they did not have our correct name, and we did not have any outstanding credit card bills, and this one was supposedly from 2004. They did not have our correct address, in fact, it was an address in another state. They were very rude and gave me a hard time when I asked to talk to the manager. They gave me another number to call back and verify the company. I did call that number, but who knows if that really was the "bay area credit service" that really called in the first place.

The people calling from this number stated they were a collection agency for Premier Credit Cards and immediatly started making threats even though I told them they had the wrong person and they have called 5 times today between 8 am and 8:50 pm

They keep calling my cell phone but never leave a message. It must not be that important if they don't want a call back. As long as I see that number coming up, i'm not answering unless I get a voicemail.

Rec'd this call on a business line, just said important to call, not selling anything. I've had this business # for 6 years now, last person to have it died in 2004 and I STILL get calls for her. I can only assume this was for her too, as I never give out my business # except to clients and consultants. Most irritating, last time this kept happening our asst director had to send the company a threatening letter and that stopped them.

keep getting phone calls but they havent left a message yet..i just let it ring...stupid people like that really annoy me though!!!!!!!!

And of course they just called AGAIN, asking for yet ANOTHER weird name, and AGAIN promising to take my number off the list.

These people will not stop calling, no matter how many times I tell them I've never heard of the person they're calling about. Today there was a recorded announcement said "this is a message for [silence]. If you are not [silence], hang up. If you are [silence], press 1." I pressed 1 to speak to a human being, ask who they're looking for, and tell them to stop calling. The guy was nice about it, but I doubt it will stop. It's a different name every time they call. Not quite sure what they hope to achieve with these random calls asking for fake people.

This call came from a call center in India. BACS is an American owned company with offices in several states. Their specialty seems to be purchasing out of SOL debts (for pennies)and scamming frightened and uninformed comsumers. Do not ever give any caller any information! I hope they call me back, I will simply ask them to hold and let them listen to bad synthesized music until they get wise. Time is money and I have multiple lines, so I won't miss any calls. BTW, the call wasn't for me, but they didn't believe me.

They call several times a day and leave no message. Don't know who they are and I do not care.

They've called twice but never leave a message. I called them back and got a person with a THICK Indian accent. Could barely understand the guy, but asked to remove my number and he said he would in 24 hours-yeah right, we'll see

They are Satan by phone. they call all day but I writing the fair debt people and yall should too, we need to let them know that we are being harrassed.

Have had repeated messages left saying to call this number. They say it is important and not a sales promotion. I have not called back and don't intend to. I have also had calls from United Mortgage and when I told them I was on the Do not call list and had never done business with United mortgage the line suddenly went dead.

I don't answer Toll Free number just let the answering machine pick up the only message they leave is
"its important for you to return are call". I was reading everyone comment thanks for the information.

messages are left almost daily. The prefix 773, google shows to be coming from Illinois. They give me no information, so I will not give them any information and do not call numbers I don't know. Also I have had the same message leaving this number 1-866-515-3445, this prefix is Iowa. Think about it. Any time that you do business they have your address, correct. Before a company sends information to a collection company. The company you did the business with usually calls you first and they send out past due statements.I haven't seen a one. Could it be that companies that I dealt with have been paid for their services. So to me these phone calls are phoney. I will keep track of the different numbers they are using.Because they all seem to link to this "Bay Area Credit Services".

My wife received several messages from this company. They asked you to call back and press "1" for English. She did. Nothing happened. Finally, today we got someone from the company. They asked for someone with an Asian or Arab sounding name. We told them they had they wrong number and told them to stop calling us. They called us back 5 minutes later from a different number, 678-328-2060. My wife tried explaining to the idiot on the other end who seemed to be struggling with English that she was not the person they were looking for. This has been my wife's phone number for about 7 years. The male would not listen to my wife, so I got on the phone. I explained to him I was a Detective with a local police department and he was harassing us. I told him that if he needed to stop or under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, I would hold him and his company responsible and sue them both. He did not let up and said, "I know what the law allows me to do. Explain to me how this name is on this phone number then!" I told him, "Do you think maybe it's possible someone gave a fake phone number, or perhaps there was a typo?" Then I demanded his supervisor. I also advised him of my intention to seek a legal remedy if this harassment did not stop.

Have had numerous calls on my recorder from this number telling me to call them. They do not give a name so I do not call them. They say it is very inportant that I call and they are not selling anything.

i have received numerous messages with a recorded message asking me to call this number. it must be a scam or they would say who they are. i called the number back from a phone where my number wouldn't show and just got a recording with a message to leave my number.

I keep getting a recorded message to call this number. But I'm not gonna call.

Threatened me about a credit card I never had. Tried to get me to give them my SSN. I refused. I asked them for their information and the woman I spoke to said her name was Carol. Thick Indian accent. She wouldn't give me her last name.
I just laughed. "You want me to give you personal info but you won't tell me your name??" These are scam artists. DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY INFORMATION.
