this number con stantly calls my cell but never says anything when answered

2013-01-02 17:56:47 UTCCJinCNJ

Start posting on their Facebook page... facebook.com They may not like that publicity...

2012-05-23 17:55:00 UTCDave

If you call the number, you will be asked if you want to be placed on the do not call list. They prompt you to press 1 and then enter your 10 digit number. The system will enter the information and repeat your number for confirmation, after which you will be prompted to press 1 again to confirm the number. If only the rest of the yahoos would make it that simple.....

I solved this problem (somewhat) by buying a Panasonic phone with "call block." One ring, it stops. More than one ring, I check to see if its someone I want to talk to or else somebody that needs to be blocked. You can store up to 30 blocked numbers. Most 800 numbers give up after a few weeks and can be eliminated to make room for others. but, if they don't just put them back in block mode.

2012-01-20 16:07:37 UTCSarah

I've gotten this call a few times a week for the past two weeks. No one is there when I answer.

2011-11-23 19:55:43 UTCstill annoyed

Well, it seems that if you call Nuance 29 times (bother, I thought it was 30), the telemarketing company will call you back. Their number is (319)378-1400. Soooo.... there's a number you can call and complain to if you need it.

2011-11-23 19:28:18 UTCannoyed

I've had my name and number removed from their list. They're still calling. So... legitimate question here. Is there any law regarding me calling them incessantly and not talking then hanging up? I mean they do it to me. I'm on the national do not call registry, had my number removed from their list, and yet they still call and hang up after I say hello. I don't know what else to do.

Our phone has rang twice now a few weeks apart for this "NEW ONCE" ID Phone # 866-771-6288. It seems that no one can back trace this # to get an actual ID and source. Please help to Identify who this is, or what it is.

Nuance distributes Dragon Naturally Speaking Software. I have purchased several versions of DNS over many years so that gives them the right to call me without violating the DNC List. However, their calls about upgrades are annoying and I've requested that their offers be limited to email. Nonetheless, they continue to call after each new registration. I simply return the call to their Toll-Free number which goes directly to an offer to be placed on their internal DNC. That takes less time and is more effective than listening to their offer, or complaining on this site.

2011-04-27 23:12:06 UTCRalph

Nuance called seven times in a row, within a twenty minute period.
Here's a web page for complaining:
nuance.com

2011-02-26 00:17:46 UTCRalph

Nuance is Dragon Software, a voice recognition package. that has way too many updates and can never get it right, functionally working that is.

From reviewing this thread, I see this firm has "been having some problems with their auto-dial program" for 2.5 years. Come on, now .... Machines may get flaky but ultimately can only obey human orders.

2011-01-07 19:32:12 UTCJuan

My fiance complained that she initially received several phone calls from this number at her work, followed by immediate hangup. It has escalated to about four times a day. I got the number and called it. I then talked with a guy, apprised him of the situation and said that if this didn't stop, I wouldn't hesitate to contact the police. He said they'd been having some problems with their auto-dial program, asked for the number of my fiance's office, and said they'd put that on their "Do not call" list. He also said that they'd investigate if it was someone personally doing the calling, as if they were, they would not have a job there any longer.

2011-01-05 18:10:07 UTCEllen

This number calls me repeatedly. I have told callers from Nuance not to call me. I now pick up and hang up without speaking to them. They still call. This morning a call on my machine. . child screaming for two minutes was the message. What can be done about them?

2010-12-07 22:20:41 UTCGertie

I called this number and got a recording which allowed me to put my phone number on a do not call list. They have been bugging me to death with their calls. Hopefully this will put a stop to the annoying calls. I'll keep you posted.

2010-09-22 20:08:10 UTCBarbara

Nice, I am on the FTC no call list , and they keeeeeeeep calling.

2010-07-09 14:27:38 UTCPrincetonBrat

I answered this call today, usually ignore it. I've been in email communication with Nuance Software about these telemarketing techniques. I've told them that I don't want telephone calls to inform me about software updates or new releases or price breaks. That's what email is for. I told them I don't appreciate the daily calls (sometimes multiples) for weeks on end. I was told by the caller that he's a subcontractor for Nuance, doing telemarketing.

Everyone's trying to make a living; I don't have an objection to that. But if you're told to stop calling, you should STOP! I was told they would put me on their "DO NOT CALL" list, but that it would take as much as 30 days (THIRTY!) before the information was disseminated. We've tried that before, and apparently it didn't "take". In this day of instant updates, web access, and electronic phone systems, that's just plain ridiculous! It shows that a VERY LOW PRIORITY is placed on this task, and it's relegated to a pile of paper on some desk that's not even manned most of the time. Come on, people, let's get real! That phone operator has your number right in front of him, with God knows how much personal information about you. With the stroke of a key or the click of a mouse, he should be able to tag your number with "do not call" at your request.

These calls are recorded, so it says. Does anyone actually LISTEN to the recordings?

2010-01-07 21:21:34 UTCIrritated

This company keeps calling me with there automated system. Below is the guy responsible with his address and offer letter. I just googled his name and found it. I plan to find his home phone number and return the favors.

Andover, MA 01810

Dear Don:

Congratulations! It is with great pleasure that I confirm our employment offer,
in the position of Sr. Vice President, Global Sales, reporting to Paul Ricci,
Chief Executive Officer of Nuance Communications, Inc. The anticipated start
date for your new position is October 10, 2006. At the next Nuance
Communications Board of Directors meeting following your start date, I will
recommend to the Board that you be appointed an Executive Officer.

Your starting annual base salary will be $350,000.00 paid on a semi-monthly
basis. In addition to your base salary, you will be eligible for a variable
incentive opportunity with an annual target of $300,000.00, pro-rated in the
first year based on your date of hire. For Q107 your variable opportunity will
be guaranteed at 100% of target. Your incentive plan will be tied to revenue
achievement and associated expense budget targets.

Once you have accepted our offer, I will recommend that the Nuance
Communications Compensation Committee grant you a new hire stock option for
400,000 shares, with a four year vesting schedule (25% cliff after one year and
monthly thereafter) so long as you remain a Nuance employee. I will also
recommend that the Nuance Communications Compensation Committee grant you three
(3) time-based vesting restricted stock awards and one (1) performance based
vesting restricted stock award. Assuming approval, the time-based awards will be
as follows: 1) 150,000 shares with a three year vesting schedule (1/3 each year)
so long as you remain a Nuance employee; 2) an award for a number of shares
equal to $600,000 divided by the closing price on the date of grant which will
vest 100% on December 2, 2006 so long as you remain a Nuance employee; and 3)
225,000 shares with three year cliff vesting (assuming continued employment with
Nuance), with opportunities for acceleration of 50% in fiscal year 2007 and 50%
in fiscal year 2008, should you achieve certain Board approved financial targets
(measured on September 30, 2007 and 2008, respectively). The performance-based
award will consist of 225,000 shares, which will vest in 1/3 increments, if
ever, upon the achievement of certain Board approved financial targets at the
end of fiscal years 2007, 2008 and 2009. If achievement is not met or you
terminate employment before vesting, you will not vest in the installment for
the applicable measurement period and that portion of the award will lapse.

You will be eligible for a sign-on bonus totaling $100,000 that will be paid to
you at the first payroll cycle following the first date of your employment. The
bonus payment will

be subject to the usual required withholding. Should you voluntarily terminate
employment or are terminated for cause within one year from your date of hire,
the bonus will be refunded to the Company.

Should your employment with the company be terminated involuntarily by the
Company for any reason other than cause, death or disability, you will be
eligible to receive twelve months base salary & COBRA coverage if you execute
the Company's specified severance agreement (including, among other things, a
full release of claims and non-competition agreement). If there is a change of
control transaction and your employment is terminated within twelve months
following the change of control transaction by the Company for a reason other
than cause, death or disability, and you execute a severance agreement specified
by the Company (including, among other things, a full release of claims and
non-competition agreement), you will receive the above stated severance plus
immediate acceleration of any unvested stock options or restricted stock grants,
excluding restricted stock grants issued as performance-based grants. In
addition, if there is a change of control transaction and there is a significant
reduction in your duties, position, reporting status or responsibilities during
the twelve month period following the change of control transaction, you will
have the right to the same level of change of control benefits, as outlined
above, provided you remain with the company for the full one-year period
following the change of control, you execute a severance agreement specified by
the Company (including among other things, a full release of claims and
non-competition agreement) and you give notice of your intent to terminate
employment within 30 days of the end of the 12 month period following the change
of control transaction.

For purposes of this Agreement, "Cause" means Executive's employment with the
Company is terminated after a majority of the Board has found any of the
following to exist: (i) his obligations to the Company or which adversely
affects the Executive's ability to perform such obligations; (ii) gross
negligence, dishonesty or breach of fiduciary duty; or (iii) the commission by
the Executive of an act of fraud or embezzlement which results in loss, damage
or injury to the Company, whether directly or indirectly; (iv) disclosure of the
Company's confidential or proprietary information which violates the terms of
the Confidential Information Agreement; (v) Executive's continued substantial
willful nonperformance (except by reason of Disability) of his employment duties
after Executive has received a written demand for performance by the Board and
has failed to cure such nonperformance within 15 business days of receiving such
notice.

As a full-time employee, you will be eligible for our comprehensive benefits
package which goes into effect as of your date of hire. The enclosed material
outlines all of our benefits to which you are entitled as a Nuance
Communications employee. In addition to the standard employee benefits once you
are named an executive officer you will be entitled to a $13,500 gross annual
car allowance, paid on a semi-monthly basis and $5,000 net tax & financial
planning reimbursement allowance.

Your employment with Nuance Communications will be "at will", meaning that
either you or Nuance Communications will be entitled to terminate your
employment at any time and for any reason, with or without cause.

Ah! New once Nuance. Nuisance is more like it. Wonder what i bought from them?

2009-09-15 22:21:45 UTCNick

If you want to call to complain, it's better to call the company's director of marketing, rather than the CEO. Bad reaction to marketing is his concern. You'll never get through to a CEO, but you'll probably get at least a high-up in marketing.

2009-09-15 18:56:03 UTCnvr2amzd

They call at least once a day, for the past several months. I never answered (good ole caller ID) but my spouse did answer the other day. When the person asked for me, he asked who they were, then said "she doesn't know you...good bye"! This has NOT dissuaded these idiots from further calls, however. As many other respondents have commented, "I'll never buy another Nuance product again"...this goes for DirecTV, too...which is another "story"... I will send an email to the CEO, as Bobo suggested, informing him he is killing his business with this nuisance calling. Everybody here should do the same...surely THAT will make an impression on Nuance!

2009-08-28 17:05:39 UTCPVM

Calls at least once a day with no answer. If it is Nuance calling I wouldn't know it since there is no one to talk too. I purchased PaperPort from them a few years ago and it works fine. I do not want to buy anything else or upgrade. I changed my email address because they sent so many 'upgrade' (read spam) offers. Not so easy to change phone numbers. I will never buy another Nuance product just because of the after market sales.

2009-08-20 18:51:57 UTCDr Dale

Nuance has pretty good inexpensive PDF software, but they call - and when youi answer - they have a recording, which announces that no one can take your call. Truly this is a new LOW in irritating marketing.

2009-08-17 22:20:59 UTCBobo

Nuance Software is the culprit. Send an email to the CEO Paul.Ricci@nuance.com

2009-07-01 14:01:33 UTCSVF

They have called our business a number of times. It's one of those annoying things where you have to say "hello" a number of times before they actually answer. Then you can heare the other people on the phones in the background so you know it's a call center and not an official call from a business. They ask to speak to the owner of the company. He is rarely in the office (he works in the field) so I explain that he is not in and ask if they want to leave a message. They say no, that they will call back. But I tell them that there is no point since the owner is rarely in the office. If it's important, they should leave a message. But they never do. I called back on the same number and got a message stating that if I would like to have my number removed from their call list to enter it. So I did. We'll see if that works.

2009-06-29 23:02:03 UTCdo not call me

Left no message on voice mail. Third call in a month from this number. We are on National Do Not Call list. Reported, once again, to complaints.donotcall.gov.

2009-06-23 18:51:21 UTCDr.G

They have continued to call. I actually spoke with someone - NC: "Is Dr.G there?", Dr.G: "This is she." and they hang up. I attempted to call the number back as I did in May, but the line is continuously busy.

2009-06-12 16:53:59 UTCArthur

Call twice a day, no one there.

2009-05-08 19:20:49 UTCDr.G

They call me during office hours 8 am - 9 pm Mon - Sat. I called 866-771-6288 - Nuance Communications, Inc. - chose option 1 to leave name and number to be removed from list. Recording said it may take up to 60 days. Thanks Joyce and Swuzy

2009-05-05 19:19:02 UTCCharlie

Regrettably, Nuance has embarked on a multi-year annoyance campaign to anyone who has ever purchased any of their products. Their lack of leadership is regrettable. I have asked them not to continue calling, but they persist. Because of this, I have moved on to another provider for their services and products.

2009-04-17 20:15:48 UTCJoyce

Hung up after 1 ring (I think, I was outside when phone rang) did not leave a voicemail. I called as swuzy posted
Called Nuance back at 1-800-654-1187 option 3, said their 866 771-6288. They said they would remove my number from there list. I monitor and track down all nuisance calls...so I'll be watching...I love these websites for looking nuisance calls up...Thank you to all the folks who put them up.

2009-04-15 03:49:00 UTCTracy

I have gotten a call a night for the past 10 days. Extremely annoying.

2008-11-26 21:07:36 UTCBJ

Probably gangstalkers

2008-10-14 20:08:11 UTCBrian

The calls stopped for a while, now I am getting them again, they never leave a message, just a click on the answering machine. Very annoying!

2008-10-03 01:56:18 UTCRick

These guys have been calling me everyday for a month and always hang up before I can answer.

As far as telemarketing goes, they are just shooting themselves in the foot. I will NEVER buy anything else from them.

Whoever called them Nuisance Software is spot on!

2008-09-19 18:20:17 UTCMary

1:20 pm on September 19, 2008. I let the phone ring, but the caller didn't even stay on long enough to get to my answering machine. I'm on the do not call list.

2008-08-21 16:47:57 UTCsrl

The line disconnects - noisily - as soon as I pick up the phone. Gives the impression they're just trolling for live lines.

2008-07-11 16:38:39 UTCswuzy

Called Nuance back at 1-800-654-1187 option 3, said their 866 771-6288 number was calling me all the time several times a day on a daily basis and requested my number be removed from their calling lists. She identified my name from my phone number I gave her, and said she will note to remove my phone number from their calling lists. Hopeful.

I suspect this is an outsourceing service they provide to unrelated telemarketers to use their computerized autocaller to determine at what time of the day and week, a human will be home and available to pick up the phone.

2008-07-09 14:23:19 UTCnuancehater

The telemarketing caller doesn't get it. These low-paid, do whatever they're told to do clerks, think if they harass you long enough you'll answer their call. They don't get that people are getting fed up with calls from telemarketing idiots and will no longer pick up on numbers they don't recognize. Ever wonder how, when you don't give out a new number, how it is that these morons still get your number? Check with your phone services provider -they're giving you number out legally. They.re selling it actually to add to their revenues. So no matter how many names your listed on for do not call, your own phone company is defeating whatever you do and they're doing it legally...Don't you love big business and how consistently they screw the consumer over time and time again?

2008-06-18 21:31:53 UTCPete

You should never be allowed to have a system that calls and then does not have someone to talk to. Bad business.

2008-06-09 21:57:20 UTCBrian

I have been getting calls at work from this number..for a few weeks, every couple days..I have yet to answer the phone..they never leave a message either..I had omnipage but no longer either, I get a lot of email spam from them too.

2008-06-06 19:16:22 UTCJohnnyW

I bought OmniPage Pro many years ago (Mac OS 9 version), and the program no longer even exists on my hard drive. It's been at least 7 years since it was used. I realize that the National Do Not Call list allows for something like "prior business relationships" but there should be a statute of limitations for this provision. A prior business relationship should either not be allowed, or should expire in some reasonable length of time, say 1 year. Since I have caller ID on my cell phone, I'll continue to ignore these calls, and I will NEVER AGAIN PURCHASE ANYTHING FROM THIS STUPID COMPANY! And I will never again submit my phone number when registering software with any company!

Sales at Nuance trying to sell an upgrade to Omnipage Pro. They call frequently. Since I have done business with them, the donotcall does not preclude them from calling me.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
