Who Called Us

I am a paid employee for Harris Direct. I was coersed by Talia Fero (harris Dorect hench woman) to write the previous review Sorry. It turns out that it was a lie and wrong.

I am an employee of Harris Direct and I can not do this with a clear conscience. You see Harris Direct makes a huge commision off of the charities. They are hidden cost such as when they call you, if you refuse to talk to them or give money, the charities have to pay Harris Direct $4.00. (four dollars)per contact. This drives down the average donation that you make by seventy percent on the average. So in other words by my exact calculations. Thirty percent of your money goes to the Charity if you factor in the surcharge that Harris Direct is not obligated to disclose or factor in on the charities behalf. The average day at Harris yeilds from five to ten thousand contacts (or 20-40 thousand dollars for James Harris and Harris Direct) You do the math. Ripp offs! James Harris runs a sweat shop/boiler room that treats its employees like slaves. They pay $9.00 dollars an hour and give the callers a spiff of $2.00. (two dollars), every time the donors pay with a credit card. However the owner makes huge commissions. All very secret. Do not trust them.

This "Harris Direct" company checks out. My wife and I have donated to them three times this year.I called the State Attorney and FTC. They are in excellent standing with them. I also called Doctors Without Borders, they claim that Harris Direct Marketing (and I quote) "raises more money for them than any other agency without taking commisions".According to DWB's administration "Yes they do pay them, But, pound for pound and time and time again they have produced huge numbers without beeing greedy,shady or perforating the charities donations". "They work on a point scale per call"."A flat mfee for marketing that comes out to less than three percent". "They generate new leads and never take a commision on charity proceeds". "They keep adminitsrative cost to a bare minimum 87% goes directly to the program services" Does anyone even know what Jerry's Kids numbers are or United Way? Hope your sitting down...

I am a doctor a Pediatrician for thirty years. I have been to Mexico, South America, and Kenya with three different organizations. I know how important it is to have compentent people organizing the allocation of funding. If you have been overcalled it is certainly fustrating. Just be patient and realize how many babies, children and lives are beeing saved by their efforts. I will continue to support them. Hey, maybe if you give they will stop calling for a while. Or pick up the phone and get it off your chest. Please from first hand experience,it is hell in Darfur and Mogadishu. Peace to all and may God bless you if for your unselfish donations..

I picked up the third time they called and asked to be taken off their list. So far so good.

If you call this number back, the answering message says roughly quote: This is Harris Direct Marketing calling you in behalf of a non-profit organization which you support .... If you don't want to be called by us in the future, clearly state your phone number after the beep and we will place you on our Do Not Call list.

We get a call from this phone number (1.866.685.4646) several times every week. Now we recognize the number and do not answer and they leave no message. I called the number back and their recording says that they are calling on behalf of an organization that basically has paid them to contact people to raise funds and to leave your phone number if you wish to be placed on their Do Not Call list. I did that so we'll see if they respect my wish to not receive phone calls. Also, the recording says they are Harris Direct Marketing and a google search gave me this result: harrismarketing.com
It's a company based out of California. We are sick and tired of the almost-daily interruptions from this phone number.

A dozen calls so far with no message ever left on my answering machine screening my calls.

Receiving calls every day from this number and they do not leave a message.

We get a call from this number at least once a day, asking for my wife (who is of course at work). The caller always says "We'll call back." I always say "Please don't bother." As far as we can tell, this is a solicitation for the DNC and/or some non-profit org.
After months and months of this, we're ready to take legal action. This is one heckuva way to say thank you for supporting progressive causes; if you don't want to be phone-spammed, I guess you gotta go Republican ...

14 Calls in one hour! They keep ringing back every 3-4 minutes. I have this number on my blacklist, so Asterisk picks up immediately with an SIT tone, and doesn't ring the phones... maybe that's confusing their robo-spammer machine.

This was PBS asking for money from me again. Don't mind too much, just wish they didn't call my cell.

Rec'd call at 8:13 pm MDT. No message.

Keep getting calls from this number. I am registered on the no call list also - wish they would quit using up my minutes.

Called...left some weird gobbly gook on the answering machine...hung up.

Called my cell phone, hung up on me when I answered. Whatever!

Called on 4/6/07 - Left no voice message or caller ID but their number was available. Since then two calls a day are coming in that have no call-back info including a number, and there is no one on the line when I answer. Don't know if tehse are connected.

Whoever Harris & Harris is soliciting for, I will no longer support that organization with my donations - no matter who it is. I am being harassed up to 4 times a day, every single day, and I deeply resent it.

Someone called from this number, after 2 rings, hung up. This is the 3rd time I am receiving. If this is some marketing organization for non-profit orgs, I think they are punishing people for donating. I will stop donating to all organizations from now on.

Donated to Doctors Without Borders over a year ago, got this call today and did not answer. On the DNC list.

Harris & Harris is a legitimate outfit. They work for non-profits, notably Doctors without Borders. 86% of the $ donated to DwB actually goes to places like Darfur. Only 14 cents of every dollar go for admin.

Haris and Haris called me and din't even have the balls to say anything on the phone and just hung up on me. I am trying to find their location so I can sue them for $$$ I have been on the National do not call list sience 2003. They called me today at about 1 pm.

Someone calling from Calif state parks wanting donations. Agreed to a small one if they send it by mail. Afterwards I called the # from caller id and it was Harris & Harris who say they do marketing for non profit orgs. Seems plausible.

They are constantly calling. Its a cell phone which can't be marketing too no matter what
