1-866-683-7588 calls my cell phone about 8 times a day I answer many times & no response which is so annoying I want this # to please stop calling me is harrasment

This number is from Everest College (formerly FMU). If you call it back you will get an automated system that will allow you (hopefully) to remove your phone number from their calling list. I'll come back here after 72 hours if this didn't work ;)

I have no clue who ever it was does like using the phone and get bored with their lives and want to bug others

Started receiving many calls a day since I went online and looked at getting info on a few universities. No message ever left. Very annoying.

I used e-mail to research online colleges and now everyone I researched is calling constantly. I cannot get rid of them. Why do people not just let you call them if you want more inormation?

IT'S FROM ONE OF THOSE 'READY TO WORK' TYPE UNIVERSITIES LIKE EVEREST INSTITUTE (FORMERLY OLYMPIA). IF YOU'VE GONE TO THEIR WEBSITE BEFORE AND HAVE SHOWN INTEREST IN ANY OF THEIR PROGRAMS AND PUT IN YOUR #, IT'S THEM.

a lady by the name of melisa left me a message sounded very rude

when I answered a women said she was sorry but she was having technicial difficulties and would try another time and then hung up. sounds like someone is wanting to see if Im home. they might be surprised when I answer the door.

I just filed a complaint with the police in my town and they did nothing.

Today I have already gotten 4 phone calls from this number (866-683-7588) in the time frame of 11:20 a.m. to 1:50 p.m. I'm sure there will be more to come. I do not ever pick up numbers I don't know, hoping they will leave a message so I will know who they are. But this number never leaves a message. I've looked on other sites and it sounds like several different universities are using this number for marketing purposes.

I get calls every hour from 866-683-7588.

I would like for this number to stop calling. I get calls from this number every day of the week about 4-6 times a day. I am FED up with this. They don't even leave a message.

i forgot i gave my number to 2 online universities - that was my mistake, now how do i get out of it? they could have answered my questions online (that why i emailed them, i didn't want a sales pitch)

I get this number on my caller I.D. about 10 times a day. They don't leave messages.Just hangs up.I called the number back and they say the number has been removed.

first calls with 1-866-683-7588 after i don't pick up they call right back with a 1-303 number....EXACTLY! i ddin't start getting these calls until like others, searching adn asking info for Online universitities.

This # would call 100 times a day. When I pick up no one is there. So I would pick up and stay silent until it eventually hung up. The caller id says "Removal Request". I called back and got the removal message and it still continued. But now that I see everyone else's comments I know what it was, request for info for some online courses. I am on the do not call list.

Like other people have said, they call about every 40 minutes and then will not say anything.

Keep calling me 4-5 times a day. I decided to call back and see who it was. It did not say what company it was and said, "if you want your name taken off our list, enter it now"...I did this then read the comment on they call even more if you do that. I will see. I have call rejection on my line and I entered it on my list. Hopefully this will fix them. I have calls like this.

Calling for FMU Online is what I was told when I finally got a person on the other end of the line. I did request information from FMU but I didn't give the OK for any one other that the FMU to contact me. They call about 10 times per day and I've already enrolled elsewhere - If they can't be bothered to contact me themselves why would I choose their school...

I just started receiving this yesterday. No idea where it came from. I am an online student and have been for a couple of years. I have not requested information for anything. I have no idea where it is coming from.

This is from some wilderness program called SUWS that specializes in helping troubled and defiant youth with behavioral problems. It's based out of Shoshone, Idaho.

Ok I have suddnely started getting calls from this number. Probobly receive about 2 per hour. Just looked at my Caller Id-14 calls since 9 am today alone. This has been going on for 2 weeks. Call back and it is a recording to remove your name from thier list WHAT LIST??? Sounds Mighty FISHY TO ME

My Complaint is the same as the rest. I applied to an online school named Everest college and minutes later the calls started. My wife is suspicious that there are other women calling and I've also had repeated calls during MegaMeetings at work. Im afraid if this doesn't stop there will b more drama

I signed up to get info from FMU too (florida metropolitan university). I only requested an info packet and now they call me about 15x's a day and wont stop...they never leave a message. I enjoy picking up my cell phone and hanging up.

This in an online school. If you ever filled out an inquiry online for schooling. If you answer it and wait till someone comes on the line you can tell them your not interested and they will stop calling.

called my cell phone at 2:28pm on a saturday. i answered, and it was an admissions counselor from an online university. i never requested this call or provided them with my information, so i told her she had the wrong number. she apologized and hung up.

This company won't stop calling! The call 3-4 times a day and never leave a message. The phone rings only twice and than they just hung up. I called the number back and followed the removal instructions but the calls continue.

I have not entered my # online for any game sites and have not searched for or requested info from any college or university, but I still get calls.

what it is is a college that got your number online. a lot of game sites and stuff like that ask about college and what you want to do for a liveing. I filled one out and 5min later i started getting these calls. they piss me off. 24 of them in an 8hour period.

i was trying to see who the number was... then i read all of your comments... then i checked my caller ID. Not relizing they called about 20 times in a few days. so now i get to leave a comment too??? hahah. There is no info on my caller ID for them, only "UNKNOWN NAME" and the date that it started... is the same date i geve my number to some colledge for classes. (lccc) pennsylvania. since that date this number hase been comming up on my phone. i called the colledge and they said, they have heard the smae complaint from many others... and they do not have a clue to whom or what it is.

I believe this number is tied somehow to National University. I've done some investigating, and this is the only company that I have contacted that I have in common with other people receiving the call. Verizon said to change my cell #. Isn't that helpful. And why do I do business with Verizon???

If you are on the no call listing in your state, report this to the entity that sponsors that. It will take more than just one or two of us to stop this.

I get these calls many times a day also. I requested info. from an online college also. I wish there was some way to stop the calls.

I've been called today more than 20 times. Every time I pick up, it's silent. This is ridiculous. Going to report it and call my phone company to see if I can block it.

I filled out an online form for Maric College in southern California with my cell number and ended up on this call list.

An internet search reveals that quite a few colleges have some sort of agreement with whoever this telemarketing company is. University of Phoenix online came up a lot. Also looks like monster.com may be responsible, too.

You are receiving an automated dialing service which dials numbers to confirm what time of day you are available for receiving phone calls. It also is confirming that the phone number is active. By following the request to be taken off their call list, you just confirmed that you are a real person who has an active account. By answering your phone, you are establishing a pattern of availability. This will repeat until a pattern is developed at which time you will start receiving tele-marketing calls from a totally different business.

It's the result of a process where WE all must have requested infomation from an online university. Phoenix or whoever. they are netorious for selling the names. The bad part is, donotcall list will not work, because WE requested the info. I have gotten heaps of calls, never more than 2 rings. I have answered it right after the first ring, and heard silence and they hung up only to call back 15 minutes later. I think they use an automatic dialing device that waits for an answer and transfers to an attendent, if the attendent is busy it hangs up and trys again until the timing is correct to get the attendent. Best thing to do is answer fast, and tell them to f'ck off when you finally get the person

Like everyone else: while early sleeping to late night...same deal,nobody's there when you answer & when you call them, they tell you to enter your ph# to be removed and it NEVER STOPS. Can ANYBODY STOP these calls coming from 866-683-7588 & 866-282-5041

They will not stop calling and will not leave a message. They are using all of my cell phone minutes. So much for the "do not call" registry!

My complaint is the same as all others for this number. They did not start calling for me, however until I began searching for online colleges to attend. I'm very shocked to see how many people they have affected! You would think there would be some sort of nuisance law against something like this!

Just got a call from this number. Don't know who it is, but I recently have been using Monster.com alot and leaving this (my cell) number - it's the only way I can think of that it got out. No calls like this prior to Monster on my cell.

I recommend filing a simple online "FILE A COMPLAINT" on donotcall.gov if you have not registered.. so so quickly

i keep getting this call and i am very annoyed. They call every 40 mins and they will not stop calling! I left my number for them to take me off and now they seem to call even more. I suggest everyone that is recieving this call, call the no back and leave the line open. If enough of us do it it will tie up their lines.
