Who Called Us

I got calls frequently from this number 866-515-3451 . Today I called the number and it went to Discover Financial Services in Utah , customer representative spoke to me and asked my last name , first name and then last four digits of my card number . I said i cant give the number , dont call my number again . Then he said he will add my number to their dont call list .

I am getting calls from this number 4 - 6 times per day - they never show a company name and never leave a message. Sometimes 2 or 3 times within a couple of hours. I have a Discover card with a zero balance - are they desperate?

I receive a third missed call today from 866-515-3451 and called back at 6:45pm PST. At the prompt, I pressed 1 to reach an account manager and was forward to the Phoenix, AZ office. When I asked the representative about the 3 missed calls with no voice messages, she said that Discover Card has been making outbound calls recently about new rates. I asked to be removed from the call list, and she said it would take 2-3 business days.

It is Cigna Tele drug, part of Cigna health.

Started getting these calls nightly. I never answer a number I don't recognize as I figure if it's important enough they will leave a message. They never leave a message so I guess it isn't that important. Anyway, if you call the number right back you'll get a voice message admitting that it's discover card calling about some BS offer. They even give you the option to press 1 and talk to a manager...which I did. I enjoyed chewing him out, and informing him that if they call back again I'll cancel the card. That stopped the calls real quick.

Called back, says discover financial (I do indeed have an account). Rep wanted my CC# or social, which I said seemed pretty silly since I really had no way to prove they were discover. Rep hung up on me.

I get a call from this number every day or two. I always let it go to the answering machine. The caller (presumably a computer) always hangs up at the same point in the answering machine message.

Received call @9:32am since it was an 866 number didn't answer and they left no msg. I'm sure it's Discover Card. They have a few other numbers they use to annoy people with.

Oh god, this is definately DISCOVER CARD. They call all the time. DISCOVER is too CHEAP that they have to hire people who live outside the USA to make dirty calls. I just cancelled my account due to all the repeated phone calls. DISCOVER calls at least once a month with new promotions but in actuallity they are the same ones being offered on a continuos basis! AIGHT

After I blocked this #, if this is Discover, I later got a call on 8/21

Just got a call from these idiots at 5:30pm/CST on 7/24/07. Complete static and no one answers. They've recently called me in the past about six times. All other calls are about 8pm or later.

I have a discover card. Guess why I never use it.

FYI.. if you have a credit acct. with Discover that is the loophole they use to call you. They are EXEMPT from the rules on the "do not call" list because you have an "open relationship" with them.

So sick of these junk calls daily. Caller ID reads TOLL FREE SERVICE and 866 515 3451 I called it and it is Discover. I hate Discover for continually bothering me the customer service is nice until you refuse the expensive extras they want to tack on, then they become pushy questioning and beligerant. I pay ontime LEAVE ME ALONE!! almost ready to change my #. I unplug my phone when I see they are calling.

Get calls every day I do not answer. How do I stop them.

Discover Financial marketing call. I'm a card holder and just asked them to stop calling. I'll let you know if it worked.

They are calling me every week day. Usually between 6:00-8:00 p.m.

I work at the US Embassy in Baghdad Iraq, recieved 2 phone calls from them on 0403hrs 12JUL07 and 2307hrs 10July07. Each time I identified myself and also ran a backtrace on the number (located in phoenix) informed then not to call again. We will see what happens.

They called and wanted to talk to my wife. In a heavy Spanish accent, I said she was working on an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico and I haven't heard from her in three months. Conveniently, our little girls were fussing in the background, so I said, "Si, I miss Mommy, too." Then I asked the guy on the phone that if he reaches my wife to please ask her to send me more money for baby formula and cigarettes. He hung up.

It always says 800 Service. But one day it said "Discover Card" instead, for the exact same number.

They called almost dailey over the past month or so but never left a message on machine. I finnaly answered and it was Discover Card trying to sell me card protection.

I got a call from this number twice today. The male caller left a message the first time and knew my name. On the second time that he called 3 hours later, I answered and there was no reply on the other line. Only silence. too get rid of these calls just send them a fax and when your fax does not get a fax tone it will repeat calling till it does. There phone is tied up for as long as you want. This works great.

I received a call and called the number back. I pressed 1 to speak with a customer service rep. It was Discover card and I asked them to take me off of their list! She read a disclosure to me and said in a short amount of time that I would be removed. However, for about a week or so I might still continue to get these calls. Hopefully, it works!

As to be removed from the calling list, just like Dominic suggested on 05-31-2007. Let's hope it works!

I asked to be taken off their list about two months ago. It worked for a while but now they have started up calling again.

Just call the 800 number back press 1 and ask to be removed and they will politely do so. It only takes 45 seconds. It does however take about 3 days to be removed from there computer calling list.

Caller said it was about a Discover Business card-- I don't have one and don't want one!

Calls almost daily, but party he calls does not live here. Sounds like a bill collector. Last call on May 23, '07. I again told him individual didn't live here, etc. He asked if I was his mother. I hung up. He dialed me again, I answered,and he had a loud sound device to blare in my ear. Definitely rude.

I just called the number and told them if they called me back I would call the 866 number 100,000 times. I don't think this is really Discover, which is a reputable company. I called Discover fraud department and told them to stop the pretexting which makes them look bad.

If I find a real owner of this number - perhaps it is "Discover" - I will call a real person at this toll free number and tell them that I will program my computer to call it 100,000 times tonight. Then I will find a fax machine number at Discover and program my computer to send 100,000 faxes to the fax number.

I called the number back on 05/18/07 and received a recording. It is Discover Card calling about new product or service they are offering.

This number is from the Discover Card company. I called them back and had them drop my name from their call last. They did it. It's that simple. But not all number are that easy.

I called the number back and had the Discover account changed to disallow phone solicitations. Hopefully, problem solved. P.S. As annoying as the calls are, the agent answering the phone was very helpful and apologetic.

They called at 5:12 PM...funny how thats when most people are eating dinner who work day shift. These people have no regard for the privacy of the people they are calling. They should not be calling at all if you ask me. Too bad we can't get some legislation passed barring ANY company, whether or not you have an existing business relationship with them, from harassing people or their "customers". I have declared war on these people. I am no longer being nice to any of them. If they have a problem with that then guess what? STOP CALLING!!!

To everybody annoyed by this number, try writing an email directly to customer service at Discover Card and ask to be put on their internal "do not call" list. I did and got this response:

I get a call every morning from this number and they never leave a message. Lately, I've started to just answer it and hang it up. After finding out it's Discover card from this site, I've changed the number on my account to my cell. Atleast it's not as annoying (on vibrate).

If this is Discover card, we should all call customer service and let them know we will cancel our cards if they continue.

Some bastard asked "Is... is [my name] there?" then this music starts "I love you baby" - this is like a stalking/harrassing call. Please someone else tell me who this is or if you've had the same experience.

The sales lady on the phone asked several personal questions after stating I would receive and upgrade on my Discover Card. Perhaps I should not have answered the questions. If I don't get the discounts she promised I’ll add to the list. I have received phone calls from this number many times, and in the past it always seemed no one was on the other end. My guess is the auto-dialer they use will not connect to a telemarketer until after it hears a word and then a pause. Called at 6:57PM central time.

This is from Discover Card. They are calling to offer a special low interest rate on using their card.

I called it back and a guy answered "Hello?" I got tongue tied and he said I must have the wrong number. Doesn't sound like a business to me!

It's Discover Card. As you know, they are allowed to call their customers even if the customers are on the national DNC list because of an existing business relationship. The solution is to answer the call, wait for a live person (the call is initiated by an auto-dialer), and politely ask to be put on their "do not call list". It worked for me. It's been several weeks since the last call...3 or 4 calls per day now down to ZERO.

This is so annoying. Just dead air.

They call everyday. We sometimes pick it up and not say anything and just listen. it is a dead line or you can hear background noise- the usual telemarketer 'hello activated' bunk. Ya, I think it's the Discover Card people.

I get this call 2-3 times a day, everyday except Sunday. I bought a little device on the internet that lets me block these annoying calls. I can block by full number, or even using wildcards. So I blocked 800*, 866*, etc...

It really makes me mad that even after asking them several times to remove me from their call list, the calls keep pouring in. At least I don't have to hear the phone ring anymore. Now, those calls get picked up by my fax machine on the first ring... Let them talk to the fax machine, its lonely. : )

This is Bank of America doing this. I have allready re-financed my home, (they were the lenders), Now im paying off their credit card so I can close it down. I would think they should relize that their tactics drive people crazy.

These calls should not be allown. this number has called me five days a week. sometimes twice a day. Never called on weekends. How do they get by the do not call list.

In a few days after I applied for discover card online, I got a call from this number. They asked me to verify some of the info I entered on a web-form.
I called back and was connected to a live "account manager".

I like to have fun with these numbers, I have selective call forwarding, I can choose up to 12 numbers to fwd. I then fwd to the other numbers that call. Let them talk to each other

I have been getting these annoying calls for the last several weeks. Even on the weekends!

So we got two calls this week and they left messages to call this number back. So we called back. This type they were said it was a "fraud alert" and then used the names of several different credit cards ("Credit One", "Bank of Marin") and asked us for our account information. It smells like wire fraud to me. I wouldn't trust that it's actually Discover or anyone else.

Six calls today alone. I wish I could do more harm to Discover than simply canceling my business relationship with them.

This is a call from Discover cards. You can call them back and hear the msg where you have an option not to call regarding the service again(1 if you like them call again, nothing for no action)

I revived a call from 866-515-3451. i didn't pick up and they left a messege but it was really scratchy.

Judging from other posts, this is Discover. I actually have a discover card, which I have not yet activated. They have called on separate days: 527pm and 748pm so far. In my case, they are probably calling to be certain I use their card.

They always call, but I don't pick it up. I called the number and talked to "Destiny" who answered the phone. She was from Discover. I asked her to please remove my number from the list. I just returned the call to Discover and told them how frustrating it was to get calls with no one on the line. He offered to take my name off the phone list.......

HERE'S A THOUGHT: SINCE "800" #'S SOMETIMES CALL 4 IN A ROW, SECONDS AFTER I MAKE OR ANSWER A LEGITIMATE CALL, WOULDN'T THIS SUGGEST THAT PHONE COMPANIES SELL TO THEM A SERVICE THAT LETS THEM KNOW WHEN WE ARE AVAILABLE TO USE/ANSWER THE PHONE?; THEY'VE ALREADY SOLD US CALLER ID. AND SOLD THEM UNLISTED STATUS.

First call today, 9:09 AM, Call ID "Unknown name". Receive calls daily, sometimes as many as eight in one day.

They call here everyday and my number is on the federal DNC list.

We had them call probably 3 times a week or more at 5 to 9 o'clock central time (our time) and we kept telling them to stop calling, but ... well that didnt work BIG Surprise. I went to my grandmothers house and she showed me a trick someone called her and she said HI, and after a pause to listen to their response said no she died i asked Who died? and she said ooo they were asking for me, i do that to all soliciters, i tried it and havent gotten a call since!!! The caller actually said O im sorry to hear that... I woudlnt recommend that with all calls but it is an opition for annoying callers...

If you're that pissed, be proactive. Call them up and talk to someone. I had some luck.

Called them back (866-515-3451), spoke with a lovely-sounding girl at Discover in Phoenix. She asked for the number to "pull up my account." I said, "First of all, I shouldn't have an account with Discover, and I have two phone lines." I gave her one, she pulled it up, and asked for my name. I said, "Tell you what, my initials are RMK, does that match with what you have on that account?" They did not. She updated the account information to not call that number. I gave her the second number; same thing.

As expected, she understandingly explained that people move, and phone numbers change, etc., and that both accounts were updated, having removed my phone numbers.

I, too, am on the DNC list, but she said they are not telemarketers calling, rather account managers trying to rectify problem accounts with the customer phone numbers on file.

Try it - you might get lucky (so to speak).

Citi bank soliciting auto dialer. Being on a the Fed or your states DNC will not prevent them from calling you. Your number is in their system because you are doing business with them or or someone with your number had done business with them previously. Call the number back and follow intstructions to have your number put on they're own internal DNC.

I called them back and asked if they could take me off the automatic call system. Discover card was the company and the asked for my name and said it may take a day but they will remove it. They were very nice about it.

They would kill me, why they can call us all time even at night!

Very annoying caller, they call at dinner time, weekends, there must be a law to sue these spammers..

We get calls as late as 9:30P.M. or sometimes 10:00PM and as early as 8:00AM.

We used to have other numbers calling our house as well and we'd pick up and all it would do is beep and beep and beep, but not like a fax beep. Those were real annoying since it would call at 2, 3, 4AM. And if we didn't pick up we'd have to lay in bed listening to the beeps on the answering machine.

EVERY SINGLE NIGHT between 5 and 9 pm for two weeks! I've never answered (caller id) but usually do the quick on-off trick to disconnect them. I refuse to call them back because then they can prove that they have an "established" business relationship with me(one of their cute loopholes) in spite of being on the DNC list. What a way to do business, huh?

Well, just got yet another call from this number. I guess it's Discover Card wanting to sell me useless crapola I don't need. If I need anything, wouldn't I call them??? I usually see that it's a Toll Free Number and let it ring until they hang up, but this time I took a deep breath and as loud as I possibly could, I screamed "QUIT CALLING OUR HOUSE!!!" I hope their ears are bleeding! I'm thinking about getting my bullhorn and sounding off next time! Might even go buy one of those airhorns in a can. That oughta make they're ears feel good, huh?

Discover calls us from this number upwards of 10 times a month. We've gotten as many as 8 calls IN ONE DAY from this number. We never answer the phone. I've tried asking Discover to take us off their solicitation lists (we are cardmembers) but they only switch to calling from another number, or claim since it's a survey or promotional thing they're exempt from the DNC list.

I'm ready to scream bloody murder at the next one to call.

Anyone know if there's a class action harassment lawsuit that could be filed over this? I saw one guy's web site logging how often he received calls, and Discover called him repeatedly for over 10 months.

There ought to be a law against this.

I've been getting calls like crazy from this number. I don't owe them any money (or anyone for that matter) so I'm clueless as to why they call me every day. Whenever I pick up, there's no one there. I'm not going to sit on hold to hear some sales BS when I call them back. It's ridiculous.

Looks like Discover Card new account services. I recently set up an account with them.

I am on the Federal Trade Commissions Do Not Call Registry List and I just filed 9 individual complaints (one for each time the number appeared on my caller ID) against this number and I urge everyone else to do likewise and maybe collectively we can get them to stop annoying people with their stupid calls.

This number has been calling me every day. I finally called them back & it is Discover Card calling from the Utah Calling Center.

11/2/06---10:07AM PST, Caller ID:18665153451, Super annoying!, I have seen this number left in my Caller ID list hundreds times, today finally I decided to find out who was it. Discover, listen! my phone number was registered on Do-Not-Call list, you'd better stop this practice sooner than later!

Already called me 3x's today at it's only 10am. More throughout the day. Getting daily for the last week. Only shows number, when I answer they hang up.

I got home to an answering machine message of "Hello?". I called the number back, and it was a recording that said "Thank you for calling Discover. We recently tried to contact you about a service. If you would like to talk to someone press 1." Either leave a message, or stop calling.

I don't know if it will do any good, but I just registered my phone number with the National DO NOT CALL Registry (1-888-382-1222). After 31 days I can at least file a complaint.

These people call every week, but don't leave a msg or no one is on the other line if I pick up.

I get at least one call per day from this number. I am on the DNC but they do not care.

They claimed to be Discover Card and would give me a special low interest rate for the next three months. Then they requested by birth date. The real Discover Card would already know this. I told them I wouldn't give out that information over the phone and they replied they couldn't give the special interest rate without it. Sounds like a scam to me. Also keep in mind that scammers can make anything appear on the caller ID. Fake number and name.

This number shows up on my Caller ID sometimes 4-5 times a day, almost every day. If I answer, no one says anything. This has been going on for months.

Its the discover card company so if you have a business relationship with them, they are allowed to call unless you specifically request them to stop.

If you are a customer of Discover, it doesn't matter if you are on the DNC list. DNC does not apply when there is an existing business relationship. My internet phone provider allows me to block numbers but still gives me a log of them as "missed" calls. This company calls everyday, 4 times a day, exactly 16 minutes apart before they give up. Next day, same thing. It is Discover Financial and before blocking them all I ever got when answering was an open line, so you can't ask to be removed. thank goodness for blocking.
