How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

This number is for a research company called NRG Research Group with offices in Vancouver, Calgary and Winnipeg. To have yourself removed from their in-house call list, go to nrgresearchgroup.com and send an email to the address given under "Did you receive a call from us?"
Received calls from them before but they always call when I'm at work. Really annoying on a cell phone!
They are NRG Research Group - a survey company for many companies including ICBC and several other private, government, political groups and companies. They are not a scam they never ask for CC or anything like that (maybe a age and other basic stats for reference) - they even sometime offer to give you stuff or $$--but rarely. They WILL keep calling - though may be often or rarely - depending on the survey target. IF you speak to a live person and DON'T ever want a call again. Then POLITELY REQUEST they remove your number. They will!!! (for 2 years). Do not get angry or hang up - they will just call back another time. It is NOT subject to Canada's "DO NOT CALL LIST" - surveys are specifically allowed! Call the number back (it does work) and give them your full number - tell them it is a cellular number (even though it may not be!) and ask to be put on there own "do not call list". They will stop calling you withing 10-15 days. Rinse and repeat for Reid and Ipsos! Note: will have to do every 2 or so years.....
6 calls in the last 10 days at different times - no spoke and then hung up.
Received call July 7 - did not answer
Called the number back and found an answering machine identifying NRS Research. They are Canadian so I requested to have my name removed from their auto dialer. Lets see if this works.
These are "ANAL Retardates" that are looking for a date,, so they can eat thier own feces in front of some one. BEWARE!!!! Block these calls.
Rang mid-day Saturday, did not answer, they did not leave a message, blocked further calls. Scumbags.
I just got a call from them at about 3:30pm and the same thing nobody was there so I eventually hung up. I'm living in North Vancouver and using a fido prepaid cell phone with a 778 area code. I also read below that they were asking about ICBC and I have been getting letters from ICBC lately so maybe it has something to do with that? If anyone has any familiarities with me then please say so and maybe we can narrow down why they are calling us.
spam caller, hang ups or no answer when picking up
Had 4 calls from this number within the last 2 days.
This company is NRG Rearch Group, #1380-100 Melville Street, Vancouver, BC, Canada V6E4A6. Their direct tel# 1-87-530-6184. You can email the privacy officer to have your name taken off their call list at: privacyofficer@nrgrearchgroup.com
Thanks for this awesome information forum. Just called the switchboard number InfoJen gave below and was given the Call Center Number(204) 989-8988, I asked for the Floor Manager, spoke with Chris (who was very professional and respectful)and asked that I be placed on the do not call list for all campaigns.
These people call me 3 times a day, it's really pissing me off.
And don
Calling an unlisted private number? who is this?
sounded like a scam artist, hang up!!!!
When I told them they had the wrong number they said they were calling from the BC Ministry. They sure call alot if you don't pick up. Persistant bastards. I say pick up and act as if they called India or something.
shitfourbrains.blogspot.com
Very low unetical people who are deceitful and will do anything for companies that will not do for themselves. Received a call on Feb 1 and as the same as other comments listed.
Energy Research Group, calling to ask some questions about radio stations. When I asked to be removed from the list, the caller hung up on me.
I have received more then four calls from this phone number NRG Research Group. I have complained to their office on this. Also this is near my first year being on the CMA (Canadian Marketing Association's version of the Do Not Call List"). It seems to me that telemarketers always find ways to defeat such lists, even if you have signed up for one. nrgresearchgroup.com - those who would like to complain to NRG research not to be called I have done so all ready but I don't think they will listen to your requests for privacy. cornerstonewebmedia.com - here is the web site to Canadian Marketing Association's Do Not Call List cornerstonewebmedia.com over all I hope this helps. Clearly NRG Research Group does not care for peoples personal privacy, I would love to see these guys reprimanded in any sort of way, but something tells me this will not happen.
They never leave a message: They call at least once a day.
This number is from Energy Research Group
This is a marketing company that ( for whatever reason ) likes to see who is home between certain hours during the week and weekend. This company is used by T.D.Canada trust amoung other companies. They like to create a long number trail so it doesn't come back at the people they work on the behalf of. I used to get calls at my last residence. I then reactivated my credit card and updated my contact info, presto- the calls start a short time later at the new residence.
A political survey for Angus Reid.
This research/telemarketer company are probably outsources by other businesses.
I don't answer these calls. As soon as I see toll free number on Caller ID, I type it into Google search. usually it's junk.
they called me back when i left a message
say go to nrg.com
NRG Reseach called three times in the last two days. So, far, they haven't left a message. Apparently, they are looking for a live person to answer their survey questions.
I get regular calls from this number, but if you have Shaw Digital Phone you can block calls by pressing *60.
Called me couple of times a night for a couple of nights. Never Answered. Just getting old.
Hey, if their automatic diealer is calling your cell, it's illegal. Check the rules on fcc.gov
Angus Reid company doing political polling.
I just sent them an email, of course, using an email address that I just created quickly, informing them of the rudeness of their employee and asking them to add me to their do not contact list.
More people should send the same email complaint/request to their privacy email address (see their website)
NRGResearchGroup.com.
Yup, got the call. He started by talking about Energy. As I NEVER deal with any company who solicates me in this manner, I always tell them to put me on their "Do-not-call-list".
As I began to request this, I got out maybe 3 words and the prick just hung up on me. I called the number back and left a rather strong VM stating that I don't deal with calls like this AND that how do they expect anyone to buy anything from them when they hang up on people.
I seriously HATE ANY AND ALL telemarketing.
The ONLY reason why this continues, is because there ARE stupid people out there who DO buy their crap. It's so easy to get them to stop calling... STOP BUYING THEIR CRAP OR PARTICIPATING IN THEIR SURVEYS! Geeze! It IS that easy.
Same as most other reports - no one there. So you do not answer or you do pick up but do not say anything... These leeches are in fact still able to gather elements of information they are seeking. They have your number already, and probably your name and address (if it's listed). Now they are calling your number to compile in their database when you are home (someone picked up the phone, even if they did not say a word) and when you are not - your answering machine picked up the call. So that's just more data. If they call you repeatedly, they are able to narrow down the time slot when they just might reach you next time. Do that enough times and they can establish your routine. Use your call blocking option and black-list them.
NRG is based in Vancouver B.C. but has offices in Winnipeg MB. The Winnipeg address is:
213 Notre Dame St. on the 8th and 11th floor Between Portage and Albert St. Ask for the asshole in charge. You might speak with Greg( Field Manager), Mike( Human Resources), or Dave( Vice-pres. of the Winnipeg office). You can also ask to speak with them directly. Keep in mind that NRG is not the only company this is like this. There are far worse companies out there. In ever major city there is at least 5 different offices of this sort.
Don't treat the interviewers like crap it's not like they want to be on the phone getting yelled at. They're just doing their job like everyone else. Alot of people who work in this field are students who are anywhere from 16 years of age and up. So to sum it all up NRG isn't breaking any laws. All you can really do is ask to be but on the do not call list. And be sure to said the word "list" otherwise they don't technicly have to put you on the list. No one under the age of 18 can ask to be put on the list. Nor will they accept third party refusals if they are asking for someone by name. Don't tell them to call back because they will... every time.
I don't think a law suit will be affective becuase that's how alot of big cororations make money. They need to know what you're thinking, they also do surveys and polls on behalf of the government. (Canadian, and The U.S.) That's also how political parties buy votes. This industry is going to be around for a long time weather we like it or not.
Depending on the project the client will give them numbers of their customers or clients, or they call general population numbers that are generated by computer. So even if you have an unlisted number you still get called.
NRG is a tele-survey company so it is legal for them to call, even if your number is on the national do not call list becuase that only applies to sales calls, and they are legaly allowed to call up untill 10pm and the managers take advantage of this. Also if you do ask to put on the do not call list it takes at least 30 days for it to go through, and you are only on the list for three years then your number is legal to call again.
The reason you may be getting so many calls is because, depending on what projets are in field you might get called quite a bit. Also if they are trying to make hours or finish a project they need to recycle the sample (sample = phone numbers)so they may wind up calling you a few times a night. All numbers are on a dialer so for every computer the dailer dials four different numbers, and depending on the project they will turn up the dialer speed so it's calling 4+ numbers per computer, so they don't always get to every call. That's why you may get hang ups or no answers.
Starting about two months ago we receive minimum 3 calls per day from this number and from 888-441-0442, sometimes as many as 10 calls per day. They sometimes come one after the other, sometimes with a delay in between.
I have tried to block this will call screen and call privacy, for some reason it doesn't work. Very frustrating
I called and spoke to the receptionist, Sharon. Told her i was interested in speaking with the party responsible for class action litigation. The donotcall.gov protects US citizens from even canadian solicitation. I urge you to keep calling about class action litigation. If you are interested in a class action suit please reply.
i just moved into a place and got a new phone number and they must have called me my second day here. The calls have been once a day and sometimes twice a day. Has anyone emailed the company and requested to be taken off their list and did it work? Annoyed...
fido cant block the # but they said to call the police and have them block the # and they will open a file and deal.
on NRG website they have a privacy policy - and you can be placed on their do not call list - I have emailed that they cease and desist immediately and that no calls from their office will be answered. We will see if that works.
Just an fyi, the phone # 866-418-1349 is a Winnipeg based calling centre called convergys that performs call centre functions for MANY companies. Yes, they are annoying, but so is Shaw Communications. I read some of the comments on the site, and need to let you all know that MTS is the telecom service provider and has NOTHING to do with this call centre.
My niece answered the first call from 816-380-3192 on my cell and they said they had dialed the wrong number. I will be adding a special ring tone for them, it's called silent and a great choice for callers you don't want to answer!
DO NOT ANSWER OR CALL BACK
NRG is a public research firm. MSG is a communications business, specializing in wireless and the like. My guess is that they have employed NRG to do some sort of market research which involves calling people like us and using the data they collect from us answering the phone to help them to develop marketing strategies. I don't know how this would work, I can only assume that they are calling us and not saying anything/hanging up on purpose. There must be some point to it all that serves to further their self-interest. So by not calling back or answering, you won't be giving them what they want.
The company is NRG Research Group, Winnipeg. NRGResearchGroup.com. It's a public marketing and research company. Contact the President, Brian E. Owen at beo@nrgresearchgroup.com.
Guy named Joseph said he was calling from a company named NRG Research. Wanted to ask survey questions regarding my travel habits. I requested he put me on their Do-Not-Call-List.
This is yet another number that calls and won't leave a message. I get at least 3 a week from these people.
I don't answer them.
got the call, 7:45pm, they've called several times, but no answer, nobody on the other line. i'm dying to talk to them so i can wish whoever finally has the balls to answer cancer on them and their entire family.
This number has been calling me at least twice a day for the past week. I finally answered and it was a woman calling to do a survey about ICBC.
I was called from this number. I was told they were Paddington Research, and they asked questions about the upcoming provincial elections - had a Conservative slant.
To the ppl in vancouver: I have a question for you...what is your phone company?I'm wondering whether or not this has anything do with the fact that these people have obtained our numbers from our telephone companies - Mine is Telus
I have a brand new cell phone but obviously rogers recycled the number. Started getting calls from this number right away. I just don't answer anymore. Maybe we need to bump up the heat on this company. I will write an official complaint to Ottawa about this.
Same thing happening. Live in 636 area code. Multiple calls, no one on the other end, no msgs left. Mailbox full when you call back.
i got three calls from this number. but somehow i couldn't answer the call. when i called back it goes to the voicemail...i don't what it say NRG or energy..
I received several calls from this number, and I will not pick it up again. No one said anything after I have picked up.
I got a call from this number 1-866-418-3149 on my cell phone, but I missed it and I got a weird long voicemail msg of just background noise.
this number called me once today at 1pm but i didnt take it, and i m in vancouver.
The called our cell, we did not answer as it was a 866 number. Will not return it. Hopefully they will not call again.
I'm in area code 604 - I received 2 calls from the same number, once on 03/16 at 7:15pm, and today 03/17 at 2:3pm. No message was left for me. When I called back, same thing, voicemail for 989....is full. Gonna keep trying them back every 5 minutes until I get through, see if I can piss them off like they have the rest of us.
I'd like to know how these companies or whoever they are keep getting our phone number. You answer the call , there was no one there ,you hung up.
It is constant harrassment.
I thought that was against the law!!!!
I guess if they call back again, we just won't pick it up OR pick up,don't even say hello and just hold the line open for a period of time.
PLAY their game.
i got a call today from this number...and like the rest of you...same thing...mailbox was full when i called back...
The same happened to me today. Everything all of you have written applies to when this numbers calls me.
Want to get them to stop -call them collect:(204) 989-8999(switchboard)or 989-8949 (direct)[ask for Greg Cherwonick - Field manager @ NRG].
I have contacted NRG directly. Three times!!!
I advised them of what was going on as I have experienced the same a lot of u have: hang ups; don't leave message (just breathe in the phone); call over 6 times at all hours; their voice-mail is full (can't let them know or advise them to stop); etc...They keep filling up my voice-mail box and don't even leave a message, name or telephone number.
This is excessive and must stop!
They said they were a focus group for telephone, internet, etc. and were inviting business people to a meeting (in our local city) for 2 hours Thursday, March 8. Participants would receive $75.
These people are calling you from Winnipeg Manitoba CANADA. Their direct number with area code is 204-989-8235.
(204) 989-8235 is a land line based in Winnipeg, MB
The registered service provider is MTS Communications.
I would encourage anyone who may wish to contact MTS the service provider to visit their website and review the list of Execs.
It is a point of considerable concern if this company obtained and disclosed your number unlawfully. In CANADA the Federal Privacy Commissioner has the responsibility to enforce the provisions of the law in regards to this.
Same thing as most other people, although I don;t think the number call-forwardedwhen I called back. I actually got a voicemail message with room to leave a message, so I told them to take me off their list. Fifteen minutes later they called again, and i repeated the process.
They just called again at 1:48 pm and it is a research company looking for information on ICBC. Hope that helps. It was NRG or something like that.
They called me 4 times yesterday and 2 times today already and its not even 2 pm yet. It is really annoying.
I'm a 604 area code. called on 1-20. I didn't pick up.
This number called me the evening of 1-17 and 1-18 at the same time both nights, 6:40pm and 9:17pm, I missed it both nights, since I'm in class. When I call back it forwards to another number, 989-8235 and says mailbox full. It's making me mad, who are they and why are they calling!! I hope to get it tonight and someone better be on the other end!
These fuckers need to stop calling! its driving me nuts, i get like one a day...and same as what mike said..voicemail is full to another phone number when i call it back
Number showed up on Caller ID while I was out. No message left. I called the number, which was forwarded to 989-8235, but the mailbox was full.
my phone rang, displayed the number. but apparently i miessed the call
These guys have called 3 times tonight. I'm not picking it up!
My Cellphone rang, the number diplayed was 1-866-418-1349, I answer the phone and said hello, and the person on the other end hung up. I have called back the number, and it is now forwarded to the voicemail box 989-8235 which happens to be full. Upon further investigation, I found out that the voicebail box, or telephone network, was called MTS message management service.
