How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).

Got a voicemail that said "I watched you after the basketball game." I have no idea who this is.
robo call for roommate from 4 roommates ago that moved out a lot a years ago. starts off if this isn't so n so then hang up else we presume you are who we want ... BUT THIS GETS INTO MY VOICEMAIL.
this is against the FDCPA law that says no third party is to learn of a debt.
Probably a debt collector of some sort, called with "an important message for" a housemate
Whoever is currently using this number is obviously a bill collector. Left a recorded message saying there was an urgent message for someone I had never heard of, and that if I continued to listen I would be acknowledging that I was that person. I hung up. As I am receiving a barrage of calls from another 800 Service number that belongs to Allied Collection Service, my guess is this is about the same matter - whatever it is. I inherited this irritating problem when I got a new phone number a few months ago. I just do not pick up the calls. My advice is never pick up a call that says "800 Service" as it will always be a bill collector or solicitor.
If you are not too uncomfortable with the idea, you can say something lewd to the agent. I did this, was met with awkward stutters, and asked to be called back for a date. I never heard from them again.
This is Bay Area Credit. They have other numbers including 800-454-2227 and 770-776-2500. They are rude and you need to be rude to them and call them back often or they will continue to call you. Make it worth it to them to chase other fish. If you have time to keep calling them back they will finally agree to not call you any more
this number just called me at 9:01pm, no one was there when i answered, and when i called back, it said the office was closed. didnt think they were allowed to call after 9.... which i think is too late anyways.
Called 09/30/09; all I could hear was the phone ringing sound in the ear piece after I answered it.
