Who Called Us

I get calls 3-5 times a day starting at 8AM lasting through 9PM. Extremely annoying. Just want the calls to stop.

I had stopped getting these calls, now they are starting again. This morning I have gotten 2 already within 25 mins. I have never answered it so I don't know what they want. I always come here first. Thank goodness for this sight!!!!!!! Thanks to all who take the time to post!!!!

Phone rang, no message left on machine.

Keep calling saying that they are discover. I Hang up.

They have called 3 times today and 9 in the last 2. This is every month I finally get someone to answer say no to payment protection and it all starts over again. This is HARASSMENT!!!!!

You know those little pamphlets that come with all your credit card statements? You know the ones you don't bother to read and just throw away? well if you read them you would see that it's a notice giving them the right to sell your info to third parties and just about anyone in the free world so if you don't want these annoying scam calls read the pamphlet and OPT OUT. If you don't you're asking for it....

if they had anything i wanted i would be calling them,my wife has a discover card and tomorrow it wii be trash like the company that keeps calling.

Said hello, and after about 15 seconds of silence someone in a boiler room answered. They were representing Discover Card Company trying to sell payment protection coverage.

Just got the third call today from Prescriptives- ( discover) I answered "Nations Bank Credit services how may I assist you today"- they hung up. hmmm...Think I will answer that way each time now-

This is dicover card-( a service Discover hired to promote Credit Card protection) they want to send you information on credit card protection. I have asked to be taken off the list. Doesn't seem to matter. I now say nope I canceled my card, have no other credit cards, no credit at all or my dog ate my card whichever I am in the mood for.

This number has called daily for several days. Tonight I answered knowing from reading the comments of others on this site that it was Discover Card. I listened nicely to his sales pitch on identity theft protection, and declined the offer. That put him into the bully sales approach and I declined several more times. Finally he said he would call back another time. I told him again I wasn't interested and said not to call again. Since then they are calling once an hour.

We get called 5-6 times a day from this number.

Have received calls from this number for the past couple of weeks, usually 1 or 2 per day. We have not picked up. This is a private home, not a business, although we do have a Discover card. Caller ID says PRESCRIPTIVES. Is Prescriptives a division of Discover?

Constantly get called. I pick up & immediately hang up; annoying as heck. Read somewhere there is a way to keep them hanging (wrote down, now have to find) but don't know if it works.
Maybe we should bombard CEO of Disc Bank with emails & calls & see if he/she appreciates it!

As many as 3 calls per day. When I answer, no one there. Pure nuisance!

i've been receiving calls from this number and other 866 numbers. after they gave me the name of the person they're looking for, i just asked them where they're calling from and the guy hung up on me immediately.

I have received calls from this number, but not nearly as many as some others have. I don't answer calls that I don't recognize. As for Steven and others who have mentioned the DNC (Do Not Call) lists, if you have a card with them then you have a "Relationship" with them and they are exempt from the DNC rules. There are also exceptions for charities and Politicians (go figure). Also, if you call the number back, as Store GB.com stated, you are "soliciting" them and that exempts them from the DNC also.

5-15-2009 Operator said this was Discover Card Services offering credit card lower interest rates and other options. 5-14-2009 Also I have recieved many calls over the last several weeks from this number and when I pick up woman breaths heavily with explict sexual sounds and hangs up. I called Discover Card Services and they said it is not their phone number

After I answered the phone they hung up without saying anything! Woman operator have called nearly a dozen times past 4 weeks. Hang up and don't leave message I recieve heavy sexualy explicit breathing on other line!
Telemarketers for Discover business card Wanted to tell me the benefits of their business card over the one I already have.

I have had a call from this number for the past 4 days. I don't answer it because I thought Prescriptives sounded a little fishy. a Prescriptive for a new card I suppose.

Get about 6 calls a day from this number 866 290 6517 -- as others have stated, we answer, no one is there...they hang up. Call every hour on the hour just about. IF YOU CALL A STRANGE number - you are AUTOMATICALLY put on a list that states YOU SOLICITED THEM....strange but true. A polite telemarketer explained that to me in my frustation one day. Probably is a computer calling...bu as prev persons have said, we wait for someone to respond to our hello, hello hello - but none and then a hang up -- strange but they only hang up when we speak.

They have called 6 times over 3 days. I've missed most of the calls but the one I did answer hung up as soon as I answered.
These people (whoever they are) are pests!

Called our business phone and once put on hold, they hung up.

They called every hour on the hour for a whole weekend. No answer when phone picked up.

got a call approx 2:30 pm on 2/18/08. The just hung up without saying anything

This is from a Master Card Company that offers cash back on purchases.

called my business phone at 9:00 pm I called then right back and acrually got a real person. told them how tacky it was for them to be calling a business at 9:00 at night. Told them that most businesses were NOT open at 9:00 pm. I said I didn't want them to call me anymore. Gave them the number and they informed me it would take 30 days to have my name removed. I told them I knew the routine and told them that IF I got a call after 30 days I would turn them in. My call to them was answered "discover business".

CALLED 3 TIMES AND HUNG UP, CALLED BACK TO BE REMOVED FROM LIST AND STILL TRIED TO GET ME TO GET THEIR CREDIT CARD.

They unhung up when I answered. They call everyday but they hang up!

This is from the discover card folks. They call at all different times of night and day.
I called the number back and told them I was on the do-not-call list. They gave me the same line
of bull about it taking 30 days or more to be removed, etc. I told them that was fine, I was
recording the time and date of each call and would be reporting them each time.
May not do any good, but I plan to follow through.

Called them back serveral weeks ago to have them remove our number from their list. Am still being bombarded with their calls. Called them again to have them remove us from their list. In the meantime we have cut up our Discover card and will never do business with them again.

The call came in at our office at 11:21 AM 12-17-07. I didn't answer. Called back within a minute. They answered on the 7th ring and identified themselves as Discover Card. I told them I was returning their call. She asked for our number and then confirmed that they had called and jumped right into a sales pitch. I stopped her and told her that we were on the DNC list and they were in violation and that any further contact from them would result in the filing of a complaints with the Federal and State DNC agencies.

She apologised and promised to have our number removed and explained that it would take upto 30 days to complete it and that we may receive more calls during that time.
I responded that her first call was in direct violation of the Federal and State laws and that any further calls would be considered harassment for attempting to remove my number.
She said that the computers are what takes 30 days to remove the numbers. I replied that I didn't think a Judge would agree that with that, nor would a court agree that because their computers were unable to remove a number for 30 days that it would be a legal defense.
I then told her that I will be returning my Discover Card because they are violating criminal law and that I do not want to be associated with criminals.

If Discover is willing to violate the laws concerning DNC Lists, I wonder what other laws they are willing to violate with your credit information?

Got called 3 times today. Each time just silence when we answered the phone. Called them back to have our number taken off their call list. The person on the other end had the gall to ask us whether we were willing to their pitch! I told them they were the last people we would consider doing business with!

Called- No message left

I called the number back, it is DISCOVER card looking for one of the owners. I just asked politely to be removed from the list because this is a business and told her that whenever we were called there was no answer. She claimed that you had to wait a while for an operator, but I didn't want to argue (I previously kept saying, Hello hello over again for about seven or so seconds when they called earlier). Said it would take up to 30 days to have our business removed from their call list.

I just checked the call log, and this number called the store twice previously- once when we were closed!
