- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).

- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Calling this number plays a fake, noisy, busy-signal recording. Unlike a normal busy signal, any touch tone disconnects you immediately (rather than after 10 seconds), so you know this is a computer answering system.
I received a call at 8:40pm, but from a male. Said "oh i'm sorry, wrong number." when i called the number back, i got a busy signal.
2 different calls from this number, one a man, one a woman, both said sorry wrong number

Recorded message states company is NAB, calling about Visa & MasterCard processing. Trying to sell some type of software or hardware to process credit cards- they charge a fee for each transaction of 1.5% (according to the recorded message). Call came from 866-270-4461 but the number left to call back was 866-485-6222. We use Vonage for our phones & it gives you a lot of the names of comapanies that block their names & it also provides the number they actually call from.
Called - I answered and they said wrong number.
They called me last night at 8:00 and when I said hello, the man said 'Oh sorry, wrong number' and hung up.

Female caller left a message at 8:58pm saying "sorry she missed me and she was with NAB and wanted to know what type of Visa machines and Visa offers my company was receiving." Duh! I have a residential listing not commercial.
OKAY...Understand this everyone...if you get a call that is not from your local area code or a toll free number that you don't know, just don't answer.
Why? I use to work for a firm (I did IT work), there main goal was to locate active numbers with someone who would answer. They are suppose to be nice to you and say, "sorry I must of dialed a wrong number".
Now guess what? They know you answer unknown numbers!
Again, if you don't know it they can leave a mesage for you and you can call them back.
There was silence for about 3-4 seconds before an automated female voice recited: "I'm sorry. I must have dialed the wrong number". Called me on Sun night at 8 30 pm Strange they would call for a busniess at that time of day...
called trying to shill some credit card - do not call list seems to be working wonders!!
Caller ID gave this number. Tried to disconnect by lifting receiver and putting back down again but wouldn't disconnect. I picked it up a few times and the call was still there. Used #77 as per instructions to block with caller ID but it did something to my phone which now has a lot of static.
It is a business credit company offering up to $75,000 is "free" cash. It came in on my business line, so if it called residences i can see (with the do not call laws) where it may try to say the call was not intentional. It is not welocme on my business line either, but it was a recording and you get a reconrding if you call them back
Same recorded message diffent day. Followed a similar call from 408-822-1645 that was just an vacuous.

Calling on a do not call number for a business. A recording only. Unwanted call. When we called back- we get message-"all lines are busy-please call another time."
STATED SORRY WRONG NUMBER AND THEN HUNG UP
Long pause after answering, had to say hello twice, then heard "Sorry to have bothered you. I must have dialed the wrong number. Sorry." This was the recording. I called back and the same voice had another recording saying something about this call was intended for business only, they were sorry to have bothered me and I could press 1 to be removed from their call list. I did. Hopefully it works!
