I would argue that doing ANYthing on Facebook is a mistake. The whole point of that site is to set up honeypots to encourage you to be loose and free with all your private data, so that Schmuckerberg can monetize it and you will be forever plagued with sales vultures.

As to online dating, I think the few sites which follow a sponsorship model (free to users) are by design more honest than the paid subscriber sites with their misleading national TV ad campaigns, narrowly populated mostly by newlywed "winners". Free sites lack both the "closing bell panic" of paid ones as their billing cycles end, and also the incentive to essentially sabotage your efforts through poor or unhelpful site coding. The paid ones will always blame you for having to stay active for months and years, not the way they wreck your content or make it hard to access or find ways to dull your profile "shine". Free sites tend to try harder to help the members, and at least one has a whole discussion forum devoted to profile critiques.

I have received three phone calls from this company with the same M.O. Each time, a different number appears on the caller i.d., but it is always from Florida. A pre-recorded message in Spanish says I have won a prize and to press option '1' or option '2' to claim my prize. I decided to placate them so I pressed an option. I was then transferred to a 'black hole' where the phone rang over and over again. I hung up, waited a little while, and called back. The first two times I did this, I reached the same black hole phone number. However, the last time I called back, a human being answered the phone. I told him in Spanish I was with the FBI financial crimes unit and needless to say I haven't received another phone call from any of these cons in months.

My fiance Googled this number and I'm glad he did before I called back. It sounds like a scam! I too am on the DO NOT CALL lists. But I know the phone companies don't do much if you have repeated calls. My fiance once had a fax line ring at 1:14 a.m. every single day for two years, and no one was ever on the end not even a fax machine. I talked to the phone company and they could not trace the call because the hangup was right away. They said my fiance had to pay for caller ID on his fax line, which they admitted probably wouldn't help, or change his number , which was not acceptable because it was a business line. Finally it just stopped. Anyhow, I think this is another one of those type calls where you just have to ride it out.

I received a call from this number a week ago, and I answered it - some Spanish recording. I received another call today from same number and let it go to voicemail. No message was left.

Just got the call, The message translated in English is as follows: "Thank you for being our client, to receive a free gift dial 1. Please Dial 1 Now." It rang and I spoke to a woman in Spanish who asked me my name. I asked what was the purpose of the message and she simply hung up.

Recorded message in Spanish; I hung up very quickly as I've heard of calls like this that will backcharge an enormous amount. But the message began with "Hola, esta una importante mesaje..." which translates to "Hello, this is an important message..." but I hung up right after that. If I get charged on my phone bill I'm going to be muy furiosa!

When you answer say " Home Land Security, Field Office" This works 99% of the time with any unwanted call. When it's a machine calling sometimes you have to wait about 10 seconds for someone to come on the line.

It's a scam. They called me about giving me vacation packages. All of this happened in Spanish. The company she said she worked for was Megatravel. My cell disconnected twice and she called back with this number (305) 407-8019. She asked to make sure I was a valid credit card holder. She asked for my name, address, phone number, credit card info. I gave her all this info...fake of course! I get two calls today from 859-212-1501. Pressed one to get my prize (I speak a little Espanol) but when I spoke English they hung up on me. Saved entry in my phone and set Ring to "none."

Prerecorded spanish message. "won a prize. press one blah blah blah" Twice a day for the the last week!!!

Started receiving calls from them on 6/2/07 and call me 2 times a day since. I can't figure out what they are saying cause they are speaking in spanish. Someone needs to do something about them, STOP THEM. Wish I knew how!

I just called pac-west. The phone number has been removed from their customer switches yet the calls are still coming. Looks like a hijacked number :-/

I picked up, and he kept talking in a language that I couldn't recognize. Maybe it was Spanish, I'm not sure what it was. I kept saying "hello, hello" then I hung up. I tried calling the number back because I it thought it was very weird and unusal, but it didn't go through.

Just go to donotcall.gov and on the left side click on "File A Complaint"

i receive about 2 calls a day. tried calling them back only to get a busy signal. i guess they are too busy making calls out. must be working on some poor spanish people otherwise they would stop. hop it ends soon

I have been receiving calls regularly from this number on my cellphone for a few weeks.

No vm left. I finally just pointed the call at my silent ringtone.

I suppose Caller ID can be spoofed. If not, why can't the service provider for these idiots be notified?

I got a call from this number on my cell phone. I pressed 1 as indicated by the recorded Spanish recording. A man came on the line and I asked 'Habla Ingles' (do you speak English?) He replied uno momento and then hung up.

It's a scam or advertisement, if you answer the phone you will get charged heavy on the minutes. It's like accepting a collect call from China to USA lol.

answered the call, spanish speaker said press 1 for gift. Curiously, I did. Woman came on line and asked a couple of questions in spanish which I answered in english. She asked if I understood her, which I did, but asked her in spanish if she spoke english, after which she hung up. clearly trolling for spanish speaking gullibles...

I didn't answer the call I received as I didn't recognize the phone number... I looked it up on Google and found the blog list. When I called the number back I got an outgoing message that said "this is a non-working number". Why am I not surprised? Jerks.

I just received a call from this number on my AT&T cell phone. No message was left and I called back, but heard a beeping sound. I'm on the Do Not Call list. If they are Spanish, then certainly they can't read the Do Not Call list in English.

Received this # on my cell phone...didn't recognize it so I ignored it as I will cntinue to in the future. Verizon Wireless offers no protection from this type of spamming so far.

I have received several calls from this number. For the past 3 weeks I've been getting every other day. No one leaves me a voice mail and when I call back it says the number does not exist!! goosh this is pretty annoying!!

I got my first call about two weeks ago while in NYC. I live in Albuquerque. I answered it and hung up when I heard the spanish. Then my wife got a call on her number a few minutes later. She did not answer.

Called 3:48 pm, CDT, May 31, 2007. A man said a couple of words as I answered the cell. Ours does not work in the house. The caller hung up as I walked to where I could receive call. I tried calling back (am in dog rescue and get lots of calls from unfamiliar numbers)but got message that that is not a working number.
