How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the
FTC. - Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

should probably ALL be presumed nuisance calls.
Unfortunately, including your number on the FTC's Do Not Call registry DOES NOT stop companies from calling to do surveys, collections and others.
From the FTC website: "Because of limitations in the jurisdiction of the FTC and FCC, calls from or on behalf of political organizations, charities, and telephone surveyors would still be permitted..." (URL: ftc.gov )
Each state law may differ. In Oregon, survey calls (telesurveys) are still permitted under the state's Do Not Call law.
There may be other laws that could be brought into play here. The main thing to keep in mind is that if you tell surveyors that you are on the Do Not Call list, they will likely laugh at you because that law does not apply to their company.
A piece of advice; before blaming someone like the president for something that he is not responsible for, you might first consider researching the laws to see how your elected officials are representing your interests. You might be surprised to learn how much influence "big business" has on setting policies and how uninformed the media is (either intentional or unintentional). Therefore, we only get half of the story and allow our misdirected anger to influence our comments which is a reflection of our collective ignorance. Things will change when the telephones of our elected officials start to ring as we collectively express our anger about their failure to represent our interests on this issue, DNC, or any other. If you have not registered your complaint with them, then you are part of the problem. Become part of the solution and register your complaint to change the law on DNC.
Paetec is worth blocking, whether your phone, or your internet access. They have been a problem since they launched into business.
