Comment on calls from 850-438-3174

I got tons of calls from them until I found out on COMCAST phone service if you push *60 on your phone you can block the phone number. Since then, I go the following warrenty company numbers come up: 1-800-837-0738, 1-800-253-9049, 1-800-691-3202, 1-866-440-5376, 1-866-770-7241, 1-866-311-7847, 850-438-3174, and 506-228-27328. Yes - as said earlier in this blog, they will use the extra digit number. Since putting them on block I have not GOTTEN ANY MORE CALLS - now just junk mail in my mailbox.

2008-08-01 04:15:45 UTCb4n0m4n

Could this be a bill collector? I am having a dispute with a low life finance company over a fraudulent account they set up in my name. After months of arguing with them I now ignore all the calls I receive--seven to ten per day from the company and dozens of their collection agencies. They won't give up. I think this Pensacola caller is another agency using a fraudulent ruse to get me to answer. Any other credit victim/debtors with a similar experience?

Your flim-flam bogus car warranty has expired ... click !

Probably one of our desperate Financial Services industry leaders that hasn't figured-out how to get a fed bail-out yet .

2008-07-28 15:08:24 UTCMickey

Called about some card did not get name of card as the message started before my leave a message call was over. My last chance to ask for a lower rate no idea who or what the call was about.

2008-07-27 01:19:35 UTCTM

The number showing up on your Caller ID is a fake number placed there illegally by the company responsible for these calls in ord4er to make it meaningless to report to the authorities (and also why you can not call the number back). They also add an extra digit or two or a fake name, like "David Smith", for the same reason. They rotate these numbers weekly, sometimes daily. Also, they will never give you any information about their real company identity (name, address, phone and fax numbers, etc.) until AFTER you have given them your credit card info (which is another one of the many laws they are breaking) so they can zap a $900+ charge to your card.

The Florida-based company responsible is American Debt Negotiators (using their call-center company PHL Inc.). Thousands of complaints have been posted on dozens of internet site over the past year about them. Just Google their names and see for yourself. You can also go to heatherwithaccountservices.com for a lot of good information on who they are and what you can do to help stop them.

This is the same con-artists known as Credit Card Services and/or Warranty Services that has been calling for about three years more or less even thou this company has been told by myself and several hundred others on the National Do Not Call Registry and Texas No Call List to remove our numbers from their calling list.
It was the same old pre-recorded message call saying to push one to speak to a representative to lower your credit card interest on an offer that ended today or to push two to be removed from the list. I pushed two this time like the hundredth time, but have spoken to a representative several times over the years requesting that my number be removed and that I am on the National Do Not Call Registry and Texas No Call List. A couple representatives have replied that they have no control because the phone numbers are dialed automatically by a computer or they just simply hang-up the phone.
Is the following statement true that this is why nothing been done that I know of at this time to this telemarketer/con-artist is because both these companies are scams, and the numbers they give out are fake, and they use technology to spoof or mask Caller IDs. Reporting them to the Do-Not-Call will not work because they are not legitimate companies that can be track down. They cannot be fine, or penalize, or even caught because they do not exist to begin with in the first place in the eyes of the government.

2008-07-23 23:00:03 UTCMarla

This was a pre-recorded message saying my car warrenty was almost up. I chose the option to speak to a representative and a woman came on-line who identified herself as "Teresa". I asked her the name of the company and she said "Consumer Services" and refused to give any other info. When I told her she was in violation of the law and asked again for her name and the name of the company she worked for, she hung up. When I tried calling the number back, I got a message saying that number was out of service.

2008-07-18 18:33:28 UTCMel

Recorded message begins "Don't be alarmed...". I hung up and when I picked the phone up a couple moments later the message was continuing.

2008-07-17 14:40:21 UTCRob

Oddly, I probably have no grounds for complaint. The 850-438-3174 solicitor is blanketing this area with calls, but has never called me. On caller ID, thats how the number shows up, no "1" for long distance access. Without the "1", the phone system treats the dialed number as a local number, strips off the last 3 digits, and calls 850-4383, which is my cell phone number. I get a half dozen calls a day from people in my area code who are trying to return the call from Pensacola, FL, nowhere near here.

2008-07-16 02:58:28 UTCPaul

Great these jackasses again. They call my home cell and work cell phone, my home phone, and even government numbers constantly. I filed an FCC complaint and received a huge paperwork package back to my surprise...but anyway, they will NOT STOP CALLING and do not respect any DNC lists, etc.

2008-07-15 16:31:57 UTCSam I Am

The recorded message claimed I have outstanding credit card debt. I do not. I foolishly pressed "2" to be removed from their Call list, though I am already on the 'Do Not Call' Registry. A minute later the folks called again with the same message. I signed up for one of three Credit Monitoring Services after I hung up.
This group has every earmark of a Scam Machine!

2008-07-15 15:57:37 UTCKathy

These people call almost every day. A recorded voice says do not be alarmed, you are eligible for a lower interest rate on your credit card, to find out more press 1. I press 1 and tell them that I am on both national and state do notlists, but the women on the line are very rude and keep yelling "how much do you owe?" Then they hand up, but will call again the next day. The caller id reads unknown caller, and *69 says unable to track phone number.

2008-07-12 00:07:23 UTCK

I'm pretty sure this is one of those deals where they want you to dial "1" or "2" so that they can connect through your number with an out of the country operator... I used to have people call into my office asking me to put them through to extension "1" at an old job and that is what we were told it was, so this must be the same deal... The message said that it was for cruise information!

2008-07-11 18:18:21 UTCKevin

same as "cat" below, except that I pressed 2 - not that I have much hope that automated removal really works....

2008-07-02 18:21:11 UTCmary

I pushed one to tell the operator that this was the 11th time they have called and and that I have told them each time to remove me from their list. The operator hung up on me!

2008-07-01 19:41:53 UTCEleanor

Have rec'd mult calls from this number saying today is the last day to get lower rates on my account. It never says what acct or who they are. I am also on the do not call list & have an unlisted number. When you dial the number, it is "not in service".

2008-07-01 19:39:25 UTCfx

No msg left, most likely another place I don't need to talk to.

2008-07-01 03:32:20 UTCtrlamb

This telemarketer calls periodically to tell me my warranty is about to expire. My phone number is an unlisted second line, and it is on the Do-Not-Call Registry.

2008-06-30 17:16:42 UTCzippy

Does anybody get magazines from REED PUBLISHING? Is that common to us?
I told the caller "I am going to blow your head off" and they hung up... how rude!!!

2008-06-26 17:47:40 UTCSG

Recorded message about how my vehicle warranty is about to expire. I hung up right after I heard that. I'm on the Do-Not-Call list, so I reported the call. Ya know, I kinda miss the days of baiting telemarketers --- keeping them on the phone for 15 or 20 minutes with dumb questions ("I'm not sure I understand --- could you repeat that information one more time?"), trying to make them so mad that they hang up on me or, better yet, get mad and swear at me. Good times....

2008-06-23 18:32:07 UTCE

Just got a call from this number. It was a recorded message about car warranty service. Stated to press "1" to speak to a representative and press "2" to disconnect. After pressing "2" it stated that my number has been removed, but I believe that as much as I believe that gas pricing are going to drop back under $1.00 a gallon.

2008-06-20 22:10:14 UTCk.soto

I didn't call the number back or press any numbers because I have tangled with one of these type setups before. I don't respond to ANY automated call. If it's not human, I hang up... and sometimes even when it is! Beware - my last experience with this setup meant days and days of these freaking annoying calls on your phone just like TM said.

2008-06-17 20:42:54 UTCdanoday

Automated recording asking you to press a number to get lower financial rates on 'your account'. Connected to 'your account manager'. Spoke to live rep, who claimed the company was "Financial Services" from Marietta, Georgia. Wouldn't give me more information. I asked to speak to a supervisor, and he said "please hold", then disconnected the call. I am on the do not call list.

A call back to the caller ID number got a number not in service message.

2008-06-14 00:41:27 UTCRobert

It took a while to get the name but I found out who they are. They're called Clear Breeze Solutions. They're a company that negotiates your interest rates.

Clearbreeze Solutions

received as a missed call. called number and it was indicated as a disconnected number. would be nice if these boggus calls could be stopped.

2008-06-11 13:17:27 UTCBB

It's a machine telling me not to be upset! Time is of the esscence? I hang up.

2008-06-10 20:37:56 UTCTM

Susie is absolutely correct. Reporting them is the best way to put a stop to their illegal activities (and the annoying phone calls). But as has been posted earlier, reporting them using the unworkable phone number that they illegally placed on your Caller ID does little good. You need to report them using their real identifying information.

That web site heatherwithaccountservices.com has that information plus links and suggestions regarding the agencies to report them to.

(And, by the way, "TM" are my initials and not to be confused in anyway with the word "TeleMarketer".)

2008-06-10 15:22:05 UTCSusie

I've had them call several times. Been hung up on when I press 1 and start asking questions. I have reported them to the FCC, and given them the details about the number being disconected when you try to call it back. I suggest anyone else with this problem to do so as well. The more complaints they get the more likely they are to investigate and do something!

2008-06-10 15:19:08 UTCEllery Rose

The call is regarding my 'credit accounts', no problm with your accounts but urgent that we comminicate.I have received this call in the past. They don't even know who they are calling. It is a TM to offer credit or a scam.
I am on the DNC list so the call is very illegal and mean.

2008-06-08 03:51:00 UTCMike

Recorded message stating "Don't be alarmed. We can lower your credit payments.....

2008-06-07 19:52:20 UTCTM

To "Anonymous":

Pressing the number that's supposed to remove you from their calling list does just the opposite, and is just another one of the TCPA laws that these criminal telemarketers are breaking.

People: Pressing the number to be removed from their calling list is not programed to remove you from their calling list. It is programed to show that the number that their auto-dialer called (i.e., your number) is an active phone number, which then just affirms that its place in their massive phone-number database is correct, and you WILL be called again because they just keep cycling through the same calling list over and over again (illegally placing false information on your Caller ID with each new call they make to you). You might go a week or two without receiving one of their scam calls, but its only because that's the cycling rate of the section of their database you are in. (Some numbers get called several times a week.) And not answering does nothing for this same reason. They'll keep calling your number until the authorities bust them.

You can help put a stop to these calls by reporting them to your state Attorneys General office, the FCC and the FTC, among other agencies. The anti-scam web site heatherwithaccountservices.com has the information you need regarding the identity of the culprits (because reporting only the fake information they place on your Caller ID does no good) and links to the online complaint forms for the agencies to report these criminals to.

2008-06-06 14:44:03 UTCAnonymous

I am also on the Do Not Call list and should not be receiving these calls. I have gotten these calls before and asked pressed the number to be removed, but these still keep calling.

2008-06-06 04:17:45 UTClisa

just like it was somebody else's experience, when called back i got the message the number does not exist.

2008-06-05 15:45:34 UTCTM

The number showing up on your Caller ID is a fake number placed there illegally by the company responsible for these calls in ord4er to make it meaningless to report to the authorities (and also why you can not call the number back or block it from calling again). The Florida-based company responsible is either American Debt Negotiators (using their call-center company PHL Inc.) and/or IXE Accelerated Financial Services. Thousands of complaints have been posted on dozens of internet site over the past year about these two Florida-based scam companies. Just Google their names and see for yourself. You can also go to heatherwithaccountservices.com for a lot of good information on who they are and what you can do to help stop them.

This was a recorded call saying that my offer was about to expire. When I pressed 1 to speak to a representative he told me he was from "Financial Services".

He started reading his blurb and I tried to iterrupt him. He told me "Don't cut me off. When I talk, you don't talk. I didn't cut you off, did I" (he asked)

I said, "You started talking as soon as you picked up and never shut up"

He got lippy so I told him to "F--k off."

2008-06-05 00:47:39 UTCR. Keller

None left-I didn't anwer the call.

2008-06-04 16:19:43 UTCAnonymous

Someone called about low interest rates....how can I block such numbers..????

2008-06-04 11:51:28 UTCJKsera

They called my home with a prerecorded message about vacation packages. I was told to press 1 to speak to a representative or 2 to have my number removed. I pressed 2 but suspect it won't help matters.

2008-06-03 20:25:40 UTCcat

It was a call saying to push 1 to speak to a representative to lower your credit card interest on an offer that ended today or to push 2 to be removed from the list. I pushed one and told a human to remove my number from their calling list. I am on the national no call list and they still called. I believe these telemarketing companies call numbers at random assuming everyone has credit card debt and will answer the call believing it is one of their companies which they hold a credit card with. Didn't work with me because I don't have credit cards and haven't for years thanks to Dave Ramsey on talk radio.

2008-06-03 19:58:31 UTCx

I called the number back and got the "This number is not in service" recording, must be a telemarketer using fake caller ID.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
