How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Called me today, hardly an hour after I got a new phone number. Left a message wanting to speak to someone I've never heard of. Some kind of university.
These jokers call us several times every day, despite being told that we were not interested in whatever they are peddling. We asked to be removed from their list and they said it could take up to 1 month for the change to be processed. We filed a complaint with the FTC.
dear sharon obivously whatever english courses you have taken through american university have not been worth your time, otherwise, you would not say "make sinse" instead of "make sense." You need to a refund.
Oh and by the way, the school’s Accreditation is through SACS one of the nations oldest Accredited Body. And it is Regional. It is the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS). They are with SACS because the main 2 campuses are in Georgia.
My comments about AIU are simply…this school is NOT a SCAM!!!! They care about trying to help people who want to go to school and can not go to a physical campus either because the nearest school is far away, or their schedule would not permit or maybe a person did poorly in school and would not be able to go to an IVY League school or a BIG TEN school because of poor grades or poor choices in their past. The Advisors call because they received a request . If you are home and they call several times a day then wouldn't make since to pick up the phone and find out why they are calling? The only way I know to stop a ringing phone is to pick it up...if you can not really talk, tell them. If there is a better time for them to reach you...tell them. Here’s an idea...take their name and number and call them back so they can get out the information to you. It is call being proactive with your education! I hope this helps. Oh and by the way, the school’s Accreditation is through SACS one of the nations oldest Accredited Body. And it is Regional.
And to the other response about them being accredited.. they will not be specific. Only tell you they are regionally accredited. Well! I live in Texas and they are calling from Oregon.. Hmmm.. I don't think that is in my "region", maybe a few trailer park zones up in the northwest..
I have never signed up for AIU... it's too far away to begin with! How did t hey get my cell number?!
getting phone calls from this number, i already told them i'm not interest it, but they are still calling me few times a day
When I answered the girl said she was from American Intercontinental University calling a number that "John Evans" had left on their website. I told her to remove our number. The problem is that we have gotten calls from three other numbers claiming to be different online universitys saying the same thing. One was Rocky Mountain University, one something else but all came from 847-851-xxxx - Obviously a phone mill
THIS # HAS CALLED ME AND I ALMOST ANSWERED.BUT I DECIDED TO LOOK IT UP FIRST. THIS IS COOL THAT U CAN DO THIS
This number called me every 20 minutes or so.Finally I just simply called it back, asked to be put on the do not call list and within 30 seconds the problem was taken care of.
i really wish these people would stop calling me.
People need to realize that a lot of colleges and charities are not subject to the donotcall.gov list, and so can keep calling.
AIU _IS_ accredited (read wikipedia if you dont believe me...they've been around 20 years) but they've gotten into the online university thing big time for a big profit, and are a pain in the ass to get rid of.
I yelled into my phone to get my operators attention last time and told them to take me off the list. I havent been called again yet.
Called cell phone and no sound.
this company is a pain. they keep calling me. and don't talk. they waste my cell phone minutes.
BASTARDS!
I keep getting this call but when I answer they hang up and do not leave messages
it's getting really annoying
they've been calling for weeks now
This number calls me 2 or 3 times a day. I am at work and it calls and I ignor it but they call me later. It is annoying because I even got an email from them and unregistered from their list.
They are accredited. My roommate has a degree from them. They are an online university mostly that calls nonstop.
I am getting calls from AIU every day! They call my cell phone several times each hour. It only shows the phone number on my display. I read a noticed online that said that this a scam. AIU is not an accredited university.
Yup, this si AIU and is a total scam. Get on that dontcall.gov list. They are now calling my cell phone ever 20 minutes. Nobody ever picks up.
This number called tonight and the line was dead for about 2 minutes, all the while I was able to hear people talking in the background.
Obviously a computer dialer with operators who are "on the ball". ;-)
Caller ID simply comes up "ILLINOIS CALL". How can companies get away with not having their names displayed? What good is caller ID if you can subvert it???
Next time they call, they get forwarded to Dial-a-Prayer. ;-)
I did a little research, this company is called American Intercontinental University and from what I can find out, they are a scam. Brandy, all I can say is to put yourself on the National Do Not Call registry at donotcall.gov
Good luck with it!
