The phone is ringing, and I don't recognize the number,
All Caller ID says is, "NAME UNAVAILABLE".
Please help me figure out who is calling and what they want

Calls multiple times a day for 2 months, caller leaves message saying my first name repeatedly. Today we picked up quickly, and caller said she was calling on behalf of EBSCO Publishers re. my canceled YOGA JOURNAL magazine. I am going to contact YOGA JOURNAL to inform them that they are outsourcing to a company that employs annoying tactics.
I got a few calls from this CALIFORNIA number a few weeks back. I was able with about 4 hours of searching to get hold of an IT guy who works there, plus one or more of the non-profits they tout on their website. They are legit, but . . . there is only a small number of companies that do non-profit fundraising, they seem to be high tech but low touch (which doesn't work for donations too well), they are probably overworking their resources (the full mailbox), and they don't leave a message (like, "We miss you. Renew your membership", etc.) and have some really frustratingly bad communication skills.
For instance you can really be removed from the list just by calling one of the working numbers -- however, you won't know what non-profit tried to call you. I told that to the IT guy. He said he'd never thought of that. I told him one of the other companies at least does that. That was the week before.
Not that I like being punished for contributing, but at least it's nice to know who's deperate enough to use a third party fundraiser.
In this economy,
I've been receiving several phone calls from this number since 11/20/2009. They typically call between 4-6PM EST. I never answer and they never leave a message. If this is for ACLU, I am disheartened and frustrated. I donated money to foster some small change not to be harassed.

when you call me i will not answer this fucking phone so just stop calling me or .......you know what's next
"M.Harris" calls from 818-591-8391 REPEATEDLY. If answered, no one will speak on the other end of the line. If the call goes to Voice Mail, the caller leaves NO MESSAGE! Does anyone know the reason for these calls? We are on the National and Pa. DO NOT CALL lists!!
called twice right at 9 PM accordint to my caller ID. it showed m. harris and I do know an m. harris, but the area code was not right so I checked the number in google. one group of posts said it was soliciting funds for doctors without borders and this site says world wildlife fund. i did read one person who had a brilliant response to these kinds of calls. he said he tells them he only donates directly at the organization's web site, never to solicitors or phone calls.
annoyance calls from this number. i see it's an epidemic.
TY, to this website and those who have posted usefull info pertaining to the the annoying calls from the # listed above. A special thanks goes to Sue for listing the phone # to call Harris Direct and have them remove my name from their call list. I did call (818) 222-3470 and the lady I spoke with was very friendly, helpfull, and happy to remove my name from their call list. I must say that I do support charities, and would not mind if they called me directly. What I find upsetting is a computer dialing our #'s and then hanging up on us when we try to answer the call. Not to mention that calling it back does nothing (no answer, just another disconnect).
If you dial 1-818-591-8391 the recorded voice mail message indicates that you can be placed on a do-not-call list if you leave your area code and phone number.
I get four or more calls a day, morning to late night, from these people. I never answer, they don't leave a message. I'm so sick of this.
Please don't call me from this number!
Charities have blanket DNC exemption anyway, Donna. I gave my answer almost a month ago to your question.
Harris Direct have called my house 19 times yesterday in a two hour period and 9 times today in a 3 hour period. They will continue up to 8:30 to 9 p.m. I have call block but apparently their computer does not recognize that. Unfortunately, I do business with some of the charities they represent so really do not qualify for the "do not call" list which I have been on for years. Any suggestions on how to get them to stop? No one on the other end.
Man would not identify who he was except to say he wished to speak to my wife and that he was from an organization my wife contributes to. That statement was not at all true.
According to another page Harris Direct works for the Democratic National Party too.
As a commercial entity, Harris is expected to honor its own no-call list and add any number upon request. Break that order, the FTC declares, and "the telemarketer may be subject to a fine of up to $16,000."
OK, they have called 7 times in the past 2 hours. The number is blocked on my phone, so it only rings once, but they come right back. Thus far, these calls came in between 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM. Let's see if they keep it up all afternoon and into the evening. Bets? Anyone know how to get them to stop?
They never leave a message and if you pick up they hang up or it disconnects. Calls come at all hours, 7 days a week!
Travis, no one has criticized your own work, so let's talk about Harris instead. What I see are piles of complaints about aggressive tactics and multiple daily calls and ignorance of no-call requests, behavior that a responsible charity would not condone if it managed its own phone bank. I also see Harris Direct carries an 'F' rating from BBB. Comments in this thread call out Harris and its management as driven by greed. Take those or leave them, but they parallel opinions of other big box commercial fundraisers like InfoCision and MDS, which routinely pocket most of what they collect from donors. Yes, it's largely anecdotal evidence, but I doubt those hundreds of forum respondents have anything to gain from deception.
They keep calling my Cell phone. They don't leave a message and when I pick up the call disconnects. I wish this would stop!
Folks that have a problem with how chaitable contributions are directed can go to many sites including Charity Navigator which will break down what % went to the program and what went to fund raising. It will also give the salary of the CEO. You can generalize on telemarketers & whether they like it or not, I could care less: they call several numbers at the same time so that when you pick up - silence; they call during the lunch hour and the dinner hour. Get caller ID. Asking to be put on a do not call list is a waste of time.
very annoying - how to block?
Resident47,
Are you saying that fund raising organizations should not apply strategic thinking to their approach, and if so why not?
Also, you seem to be asserting that all third-party fund raising companies attempt to circumvent FTC regulation. Do you have any evidence for this?
I work for a Door-to-Door fund raising company, and we always comply with the laws and city ordinances and we always get the required permits and background checks. And I am always polite to people even when they are not polite to me. I simply tell them to have a nice day and go on to the next door.
Quote from the Harris Direct home page: "Harris Direct is a full-service firm and pioneer in data mining."
On other site pages they gas on about how much strategic thinking goes into their phone campaigns, how they slice and dice the populace into target groups. Makes for a very costly form of "free speech", particularly when a call center pockets most or all of the coins those targets are told go to "charity".
There sits the vital difference, when these third party phone drones are deployed mainly to circumvent or fudge the intention of FTC regs. Honest charities managing their own marketing do it politely. Once control is handed to the hired call center, the usual annoyances begin: predictive dialing, aggressive tactics, rude treatment, and so on. The issue of collection for fake charities is another long thread entirely.
When someone calls promoting a political candidate or an alleged charity, that still counts as sales by a different name. If these firms could manage to do it in a less disruptive and suspicious manner we might actually quit complaining, but they don't seem to realize their boundaries.
I have to agree with Betty, Maggy. These companies have a right to call and raise money for charity. If you wish to ask them not to call that is your right. But I believe that this is a free-speech issue. It's important in a democracy for non-profit organizations to be able to be able to find new supporters.
That said, Maggy could have made her point without the name calling. And in case you're wondering, yes I am a fundraiser for a nonprofit organization, and I love doing it.
This comment is response to Betty Minsky's comments. Sorry to see that you resorted to name calling. The people on this blog are annoyed because of the unsolicited phone calls they receive from many companies such as Harris Direct. Understand Betty Dear, that the represented charities receive only a very small percentage of the collected funds. Most of the money goes to extremely high salaries of the CEOs of these telemarketing companies. The people making these comments are not idiots; they are annoyed and fed up. You must work for one of these places or you would not be so rude. "Pick up the phone and ask to be removed from the list," seems simple enough except that there are hundreds, perhaps thousands of lists. In the last 6 months, I've asked to be removed from no fewer thantwenty of them. When Harris Direct or any other telemarketing company (yes you are telemarketers) removes you from one list, they do not remove you from all lists. I do not give to charities that use telemarketers. In fact I deliberately avoid these charities when giving my considerable sums to others. So, Betty my dear, acquire some manners and an education, and stop bothering people.
Calls three to five times daily for more than three days. Time to stop this.
Take us off this damn call list. 3 X a day, everyday, is so annoying. I do not make
any donations over the phone!
You guess are all idiots. People calling you are just trying to earn a paycheck in a bad economy and there are worse things to do than try and raise money for non profit organizations. The call files come directly from the organization they are calling on behalf. Stop trying to be so dishonest and clever. Simple pick up the phone and ask to be put on the do not call list. Every single one of you are the cause of your own problems. THE FEDERAL DO NOT CALL LIST DOES NOT APPLY TO NON PROFITS AND CHARITIES. Every idiot knows that, so, you are all just a bunch of righteous buffoons.
this is doctor's without borders irresponsible telemarketing firm. i called and spoke with a development assistant at their NYC headquarters...they will put you on the do not call list. this is CRAZY F-UP'd TELEMARKETING! THESE PEOPLE ARE ON CRACK! they call me like three times a day. and instead of letting it be a missed call i answer and just sit there. a few times i was in the john and i flushed the toilet in their ears which is the most appropriate response to this kind of aggressive bullshit. doctors without borders will NEVER GET A SINGLE CENT FURTHER FROM ME AS A RESULT OF THIS SHITTY BEHAVIOR.

24 hours a day, 7 days a week
I took the advice from one of the bloggers and called 818-222-3470 (chose to speak to an operator) in order to get rid of daily calls from Harris Direct (818) 591-8391. The operator said she would remove our number from the calling list and said we would not receive calls any more. I hope this will take care of the problem. With today's technology, we don't need others to remind us when to make donation and we don't need make donation through the telemarketers.
I've been getting incessant calls from this number. On one of the earliest calls I picked up and the minute a young man went into the "I'm calling on behalf of" spiel that they all use, I interrupted to say I had no use for these types of calls and not to call again. No fear. I think they've been calling twice or three times a day for a month. I too donated to Dcctors Without Borders during the first days after the Haiti earthquake and I guess no good deed goes unpunished.
Called the 818-222-3470 no., pressed 0 for operator, reached a polite person who said I'd be taken off their list immediately. Hope it works!
For the last several months, Harris Direct has been calling our number many times daily, even on the weekends, and never leaves messages. This is such a violation of citizens' privacy, but I guess if it has anything to do with $$, nothing else matters.
Very persistent will not stop daily calls
I have been receiving phone calls from this number daily for the last two weeks, and sometimes twice daily. Very annoying! Most time I simply ignored the calls. When I did answer, there was silence; and I asked them not to contact me again. Instead, I just got another call just minutes later. What is even more frustrating, they never leave a message. I am feed-up with this harrassment. I've blocked 818 591-8391 using AT&T Residential Custom Calling Service - Call Screen. According to other comments, they indicate that Harris Direct represents Doctors Without Borders. I did make a charitable contribution to Doctors Without Borders, and if this is who they use to solicit donations, I'll be hard-pressed to make another donation. Yikes! Unbelievable!
They've been calling 7 days/week for the past several weeks. No message. Very, very annoying.
I tried to leave a message at the "executive office" by dialing "1" after calling 818-222-3470 but it cut off and nobody had answered. I called again and pressed "0" and the operator was very nice (even said "it gets pretty bad sometimes") and took my phone number, verified my name, and said she'd put me on the do not call list. Like everyone else, "we'll see."
I have received calls from this number numerous times. No message left. Today they put me on automatic dial or smth. So now every 6 minutes the phone rings. Just counted 13 of the calls within 1.5 hours. Called that number to learn that "the voice mail of the person you are trying to reach is full".
I receive calls from this number daily. The person on the other end asks for my husband, refuses to give information about the purpose of the call, and refuses to remove us from the list.
I get up to two calls a day, sometimes every week day. May stop for a week, then starts up again. This has been going on for months, possibly a year. No message is ever left. No one is on the line when answered by us. ID is always Harris Direct. When we call back to complain, "Box is full no message can be left." We have Federal No Call status.
I called and got a recording saying, "If you want to be put on our Do Not Call list, just leave your number after the tone." I left my number and hopefully they will stop calling.
Multiple calls. No one there when we answer. We are seniors and this is a major nuisance. We are on the Federal No Call List. I will file complaints with the State of California and the Federal Government.
I've been getting daily calls from Harris Direct (818) 591-8391, never any message left. After looking at a comment on this website, I called the phone number (818-222-3470). I chose the "speak to an operator" option. Operators are there 24/7. A polite guy answered, said that because it was a charity the federal "do not call" list didn't apply but that he would take me off their list. He apologized for their disturbing me. My fingers are crossed that this will take care of the problem.
They've been calling daily for about 6 weeks -- 7 days a week. I finally picked up today, they said they represented Doctors Without Borders. I asked to be put on the do not call list, and was told fine, no problem. No questions were asked. We'll see...
from google searches, looks like they represent multiple charities. the one I sent money to previously was medecins sans frontiers. if they use these guys, I'll never give them money again
When I answered the call, I heard a "beep" and then a hang-up. I contacted "Harris Direct" and instructed them to NEVER call me again. Please do the same if you do NOT want to receive their solicitation calls. Their office phone number is 818-222-3470. Also, their website is harrismarketing.com
GREAT ADVICE FROM BARBARA: I ALSO CALLED 818 222-3470 AND ASKED MONICA, WHO ANSWERED THE PHONE, TO PUT ME ON THE "DO NOT CALL LIST". THIS WAS DONE WITH NO QUESTIONS ASKED OTHER THAN TO CONFIRM MY NAME, WHICH THEY WILL KNOW WHEN YOU GIVE THEM YOUR PHONE NUMBER.
Attempted to send an email, email address is not valid, attempted to send a fax, fax number not on line. I called Office: (818) 222-3470 and selected "1" for the executive office. Gave Monica my phone number, she knew my name and she put me on the do not call list. We will see.
Constantly calling and leaving no message. bs call
Unwanted solicitations; why dothey mimics a legit caller ID "HARRIS M"
I did not answer; no message was left on my recorder.
14 calls over a week's time. This has been going on for weeks and weeks and weeks. I ignore them since I do not know who it is. My husband picks up and says nothing. No one speaks. Dead air. These calls are incredibly annoying. Anne, who posted her experience on this "whocalled.us" page, mentioned Doctors Without Borders. I gave to DWB for the first time after the Haiti earthquake. Others say that Harris Direct is a scam call center. Legitimate or not, HD is guilty of harassment.
ditto
I was getting calls from this number once or twice a day. My phone has a "block number" feature, which causes it to ring once then disconnect the call. I've blocked this number and now they're calling about every 10 minutes!
Watch out for recently big scam in USA

Strongly recommend reading from above article.
I hate this number! They call me MULTIPLE times a day and never leave a message. I get at least two calls per day from this number. Ugh.
This number has been calling my phone every day (sometimes - lik today - twice a day) for about the last 3 weeks. Never left a voicemail. I have never answered because I don't recognize the number.
No message left on answering machine.
Always a red flag except from people
you know well.
They will not stop calling regardless of how many times you tell them to cease and desist. They deserve no consideration whatever.
They won't stop calling! Often hangs up if I answer. One time I got someone and they said they wanted to talk to me because I had donated money before, but they wouldn't say to who. I said I wasn't there (suggested it wasn't me they were talking to), and they hung up.
Someone from this number calls daily - two times per day, and they do not leave a message.
For the past couple of weeks, they've been calling and left no messages. I don't bother answering it considering thankfully my phone is on silent 99% of the time but still VERY annoying.
I have been receiving calls for about a month now, not daily about ten in all. When I called back, no one answered. When I did answer a couple of these calls, there was no one on the other end of the line.
8 calls in a day on my cell phone. No ID, no answer
These people call 5 to 6 times a day and I am getting tired of it.
I never answer the phone when they call, sometimes it says private caller.
I get several calls a week from Harris Direct. I never answer if I see their name on my caller ID.
Just for fun, if you are working or living in an environment that you could do this in, answer the phone whenever a suspected telemarketer is on the line. If you hear a real human voice and they start their shpeel, hold a gas charged air-horn to the phone & blast them for a second or two! You can get them from amazon.com for as little as $7.00 for the 1.4oz can or under $30.00 for the 8oz which will last a very long time if used in short bursts. Refill 8oz cans are about $16.00. Free Shipping often available on orders over $25.00!
Even if it's a recording, wait and see if a human takes over the call or if there is an option for them to start recording you, then blast them!
Don't get mad, GET REVENGE!
Asked for a mane I know but, does not life here and, never has.
Dead calls, no answers.
These b******ds have been calling us for MONTHS, but never say anything! You CANNOT call them back - the number is either busy or you reach a "full" mailbox!
They call any time of the day or night, often at mealtimes, or when we are relaxing. We have been on the Do Not Call list for years, but this does NOT (unfortunately!) bar charities, churches or political groups - which is criminal.
EVERY ONE of these obnoxious b*****ds who start or own these boiler room ops should be taken out and shot - publicly! Those who commit these offenses for churches, charities, and other such shucks should be first in line...
Numerous calls with no left messages. Annoying, annoying, annoying!
Who is making these calls?
This woman is only 1 of a number of pests who think by driving people to distraction with multiple phone calls day & night will break down & donate to the charity they're representing (& I doubt on a voluntary basis). Another one is TeleFund which is FOR PROFIT!!! To the contrary, I have decided to stop giving to any charity especially after checking them out on the internet & seeing the huge salaries the CEO's make.
These people call every day, several times. Called them back and the mailbox was full.
they call repeatedly
These people call all times of the day and never leave a message. Very annoying.
I get a call from Harris Direct every day between 4pm and 6pm. No one is ever on the other end of the line.
Rcvd multiple calls daily for weeks. Tried to call number back in the evening on several occasions. Always received a voice message that the person's mailbox you are calling is full. They called me again early Friday while I was home so I tried to call back. This time got a message, which said if I had received a call from them, they had been given my number by a nonprofit organization I have been involved with. It went on to say if I did not want to receive calls to clearly leave my number and they would remove it from the system. It is Sunday now and so far no new calls. Fingers crossed it will stay that way!
FYI - if you have a phone you can block numbers, like the message posted by Anne, below you will probably only make the problem worse. The caller receives a busy signal while it rings once on your end. Since almost all telemarketing uses auto-dial/black boxes they re-dial busy numbers more often then no answer or answering machine responses. There is a call block feature you can pay for through your local phone provider but it doesn't work on numbers that call from a multi-lined system, which all telemarketers use
It was Doctors Without Borders calling to ask if I would donate to Haiti disaster relief. The caller hung up on me when I asked him to place me on his Do Not Call list.
hi
I have had this number call my home
amsale.co.il
My wife said that they asked for me. She asked who was calling, and they responded that they were from the DNC, Democratic National Committee. The same think happened to us last year. This appears to be a scam. The true DNC does not call from this area code or with the name Harris Direct.
Fake caller saying that I donated to democrats last election and they need me to write a check for $100 right now to hel the interim election. That total BS. Fundraising is NOT done by phone back and this was a telecommuting phone bank. i can tell by how long it takes someone on the other end to say hello and connect.
I told her I use my unused minutes to volunteer phoneback activity for canvasing the Democrats in Evanston. She stuck to her script and kept asking me for $100 bucks.
Then I got one saying I donated to american cancer society. NEVER done that. But they wanted $50 out of me. I never donate to ACS.
They don't say anything when I pick up and they don't leave messages.
Call from Norther Los Angelis, call many times / day!
is it terrible to say i almost regret donating to doctors without borders? i've been getting many calls from unknown numbers since.
Call received on a Sunday morning. I did not pick up.
They are calling at least once a day and sometimes late (after 10 PM EST).
When I answer there is no one on the other end. It happened twice today. I've contributed to Doctors Without Borders. Perhaps it's an organization who is contacting people who have contributed in the past and they are trying to scam from them.
These folks call on behalf of charities. Note that the "do not call" registry does NOT apply to charities so it is completely legal and appropriate for them to call. That said, if you answer and tell them to remove you from their list they will likely honor it. If you just don't answer, they'll likely keep calling you.
calling for Doctors w/o Borders
I am receiving calls from this number everyday. I answered once and told them that I was not interested in what that had to discuss. They continue to call everyday. How do I stop this???
We have our numbers registered on the "Do Not Call" list as do most of the folks who've commented. My frustration increased when I was told that charities and people to whom you've contributed in the past are exempt from the 'Do Not Call' restriction. Other agencies have called, repeatedly. If I can identify them, they go on MY 'Do Not Donate Anymore' list!
she doesn't live here anymore. stop calling!!!!! i don't like you.
Harris direct is calling two to three times a day. When I answer no one is there - sounds like a computer. It is very irritating.
These people have called every day for the last few days. They are not on the line when I answer, nor do they leave a message if I don't. I called their number, and there is a prompt to leave your number, which they say the will remove from their records. I will report them to the Do Not Call Registry, for all the good that will do.
Let's see what happens...
Just like everyone else -- two or three calls a day. Would love to shut this off.
i have gotten many many many calls from this number.
Register a complaint with the do not call website... complaints.donotcall.gov
We just received another call (with no message) from Harris Direct. I went to the Harris Direct web site and called their phone number(818-222-3470). I chose the "speak to an operator" option. Operators are there 24/7. A nice woman answered, and I asked her how I might be put on a "no call" list. She said she would be happy to do that, and did, while I was on the phone (I hope). She said their "no call" list is different from the federal list. She also apologized for any disturbing phone calls we may have received. This was a pretty painless way to stop the phone calls, so I hope it works!
They call 3 times today with in 3 hours.
I actually answered when they called. They asked for a specific person by name. I told the male representative he had the wrong number. He proceeded to call me a name and quickly ended the call. I called the number back, however this number will not allow an incoming call. I proceeded to call the Harris Direct Office (818-222-3470), and spoke to a supervisor. I advised the supervisor of a law in the California Penal Code (653m(a)), which is defines annoying phone call(s), and is listed as a misdemeanor. I also reminded the supervisor I know their outgoing calls are recorded, as I heard a beep every five seconds during the call. The supervisor said they would "get to the bottom of it" and "dismiss" the employee immediately. I insisted I receive a follow up call to ensure this matter was handled properly, and asked them not to call official police phone numbers in the future, due to the fact California taxpayers will ultimately end up paying for these unwarranted phone calls. Feel free to call the above listed number for any complaints.
Take us OFF of your calling list. You have been calling every day for a week. Today, I was home and answered but nobody was on the other end. I tried calling you back from the caller ID to receive a message saying the callers mail box was full. This is unexeptable and just bad business. I don't like to be harassed by so many unsolicited calls each day. That's why I'm on the no call list.
Please do something about your bad phone service!!!!
These people called me twice today. I did not pick up. Caller ID: Harris Direct.
Calls every day without a message. I should just answer so they can take me off their list.
no answer
They are a bill collection agency that calls every person with the same last name as the debtor all over the country. They are paid a fee for every call, and a bonus if they ever collect from someone. Some people have actually paid the bills for some stranger to get them to quit calling.
The FCC and the telephone company-AT&T, Fred Whiteacre's old outfit-he's now running our collective company GM for us, you'll be pleased to know.
There is no technical, moral, or ethical reason why this nonsense is not stopped except for the low-life scum we elect to represent us.
They've been calling EVERY DAY for 2 WEEKS!!! Every so often I answer, set to yell at them to stop, but all I ever hear is chatter and laughter in the background. After a second or two I hang up. ANNOYING and FRUSTRATING!
They call me everyday and never leave a message. When I finally I answered one day they didn't even speak. So, after reading too many books and watching too many Law & Order episodes, I got freaked out and looked the number up. Glad I'm not alone!
They have been calling me every day for about a week. I don't answer and when I try to call it back to see who it is there's a just a busy signal.
Doctors Without Borders is on my shit list. They use whores loke Harris Direct, who lie and hide behind formalities that have been the pitfall and advocate for telemaking companies like Harris Direct to make millions of dollars of of donation money and hide the fact that they are just bullying whores duping Americans who work hard into beleiving that (a) they are being called directly from the charity and (b) that you are stupid enough to give to "Harras" Direct because in actuality you are giving to Harris Direct and not a charity. Jim Harris is fat of of charity monies,a stupid coward, and has no balls. This company ruins the credibility of charities. Any charity that would use them reeks of lack of integrity and is on the fecle matter list of philanthropic dirtbags. The worst part is that Mr James Harris claims to run a ethical bussiness when not to far under the surface of what he knows to be a total sham He eats sleeps (how..who knows) and breaths off of PURE BLOOD MONEY! Lowlife and Hypocrite! Gold plated poop. However I forgive them for Jesus forgave is all. Just say you will send them 20 thousand dollars in the mail. Yep..Everyone say this and they will lose thier clients! Just answer the phone and pledge ten or twenty thousand dollars. Mr Harris will have to pay it if you do not send it. Gorilla warfare works with monkeys. god have mercy on us all.
Called but no message left.
They call every day. I answered 1 and he asked for my husband, while pronouncing our name incorrectly. He was very rude and hung up on me. He gets the whistle next time he calls.
Ditto to all of the previous complaints!! There must be something that can be done to stop this harassment!
I am on the do not call list and still receiving calls from this company.
Relax everyone - this is a fundraising company calling on behalf of any number of non profits and political groups - see the list: harrismarketing.com
You're probably getting called because you already gave your number to one of these groups.
No name displayed on call. Called twice on 4/16/2010. No answer when picked up.
This number--which hasn't left a message--called 23 times in a week to my cell phone, and apparently to some of our other numbers, as well.
Calls and calls and calls and calls
So far today, I have received 15 phone calls from Harris Direct. First was at 9:11 a.m. and just now at 11 a.m., totalling 15 calls! They are blocked but this appears to be a serious breach of privacy, considering al the comments posted for this number. I am also on the DNC list.
Who's Harris Direct? I see one entry here says it's World Wildlife Fund, is that correct? They have been after me thru snail mail to donate money, anyone know?
I did not answer but did call them back to see what their recording said. It said they were HARRIS DIRECT who calls on behalf of various charities. And they said that if I wanted to I could leave my name and phone number for them and they would agree not to call me again. (LIKELY STORY.)
The caller asked for my husband. I understood this would be telemarketing call, by the caller ID and phone number, so said he was unavailable and could I take a message, they said no, they were calling about 'his organizations' and they'd call back. I said if they wouldn't leave a message, he would never take their call, and they hung up before I could finish the sentence.
These people call every single day -- a real nuisance. Apparently Harris Direct makes phone calls on behalf of clients to raise money for them. I want their clients to know that their causes are HURT, and not helped, by receiving menacing phone calls every single day from these folks.
I am incensed by these repeated computer calls.
I'm called by them twice a day.
They call my office and hang up on me! I give quite a bit to the World Wildlife Fund. I'm disappointed to see that 'Harris Direct' may be affiliated, as I don't want my donations being spent on a call center...
"Harris Direct is a full-service firm and pioneer in data mining."
Taken directly from their web-site.
I'm sure they mean well. The big question is of course..."What % of the donations received do they actually pocket?"
The first time this number called us, there was a man on the other end looking for one of my family who wasn't available. Ever since then, when this number calls, there's no one on the line and there's never a message left on the machine.
They call me about 6 times a day (between 8am and 9pm) and of course never leave a message.
These guys started calling about once a week, but refused to talk to me, only my husband. The last three days they've started calling daily. I finally got wise and started checking the Caller ID before answering. It is really getting irritating. After reading the previous comments, I hesitate to answer the phone for them even to tell them off--I don't want these guys to get one cent. Catch 22.
I have gotten calls from this number but never found anyone there when I answered. Based on information on this site, I went to the Harris web site, called their main number ((818) 222-3470) poked "0" for the operator. I asked if there was a way to be removed from all their lists, and she said yes that was not a problem. She was actually quite nice. Gave her my number; we'll see what happens.
I don't call back any number that is not in my address book. This was one that did not get answered or called back.
I got a call yesterday from this number claiming they were calling from the "Democrat" National Committee. The man was very pushy and would not take "no" for an answer. I finally just hung up on him. I called the DNC this morning and found out that this is a legitimate fund-raising call! I suggested that they do something about then identifying themselves as "Democrat". I also told them that they should take a look at the complaints on this website.
Called early evening, didn't leave message
Called twice today. Didn't leave any messages
I got a call from 591-8931 A woman named Jennifer said she was calling from the DNC in Washington DC. I know this is B.S. What a scam. Parasites! This stupid ladie loved to hear herself talk. Qwak qwak qwak.....dial tone.
They call at least three times a day but never leave a message. I have caller ID and will not answer that phone number but I am getting sick and tired of them calling. How can I stop them.
I will be talking to the person in charge of the complaints division at the DNC today. With my membership number in hand, I will be sending them a copy of my complaint to the FTC. My good friend Sam Wilkerson, who worked in the Attorney General's charity police division for ten years in California are going to help. People like this James Harris and his henchmen like Talia Fero (is Talia Fero a man or women?, I could not tell) any how you are going to heve to be accountable for your illegal behaviors. Time will catch up and run out. Harris Direct is a company farming out nothing but brutal bullies and they are grossly misleading. Do not give to them. Coming soon a 'rip off' web site to warn anyone who considers giving through these charloteens.
I keep getting calls from 818-591-8391 and there is no one there.
the democratic national committee will be callin so be prepared
okay give me a job then
They call every day at least twice a day. I never answer, but I'm really sick of it.
I got a call from Harris M. They said that The World Wild Life wanted to stop the poachers and that there was a matching grant. I called World Wild Life Fund and thereis no matching grant. They are swindlers. This info below has been very infomative. It seems accurate. Thank you. I will be writing Doctors without Borders the FTC and State Attorney. I got a call Feb 2,from these idiots and I know that Doctors Without Borders was not accepting any monies for Haiti. I also agree that we should all complain in writing. I recieved a call from World Wild Life Fund this weekend. The same person calls me for World Wildlife Fund. Help! Harris M is passing my number around. Maybe if they call I will give to the "Help the Enormous Butts Fund".
Then, make a living the right way, with integrity, not skimming off of charity money, harrasing people lying to them. 87% my butt. You are no friend. Harass Diewrecked er...I mean Harris Direct.I am writing Doctors Without Borders and complaining.
According to the Harris Direct website, they provide telephone fundraising services for several charitable organizations such as public radio and TV stations, Planned Parenthood, and many other organizations, some of which I support. However, I simply don't care for telephone fund raising. I'll decide where to make my charitable contributions. I sent them an email asking that they remove my phone number from their call list -- I'll see what happens.
dont get mad at some people working hard and making a livin
You will never get them to stop calling you unless you read this., You have better odds expecting Talia Fero's huge butt to fit in one airline seat. l.o.l.! I work a Harris Direct and these callers and their complaints are status qou and accurate. We as employees of Harris Direct are trained to "get the money on a credit card" There are no intentions or instances of fraud however. The Frederal guidelines for raising monies are very lose. Yes Jim Harris makes $20.000.00 to $40.000.00 dollars a day sometimes. That is if the office has ten thousand contacts. A "contact is defined as "a telephonic communication to a prospective donor whereby the caller identifies himself to the client and tells them that he or she (or it) is calling on behalf of the charity" Boom, that is a contact and Harris is paid four dollars by the charity. This is paid to Harris Direct" regardless if you give or not. Jim Harris gets four dollars per contact. Jim harris does not give a crap about his employees or weather you are being harrased, or weather or not you give. unless you give on a credit card. This (four dollars a contact)figure is not disclosed or factored in to the "percentage that goes t the charity" or money used for program services. The disclosure laws are very very ambiguous. But Harris Direct raises around a million dollars (or more) a month for charities.. They should call this place Harass Direct! l.o.l. If you want to get some results, you need to call the D.N.C.,Doctors without Borders, World Wild life Fund, or the Sierra Club and complain in writing that the callers are abusive. This is where the rubber hit the road. Doctors without Borders national Wildlife Federation or DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS< Doctors without Borders is James Harris's bread and butter. I garauntee that if you write them and complain that you are being harrased and Doctors without Borders gets enough complaints you will bring Harris Direct to their knees. Oops I thought I saw a puty cat, I did I did. Meow! Have a nice day Mr. Harris.
The address on the website shows up as the American Red Cross on Google Maps. Although it is possible they share the building, it looks quite small compared to how many extensions they supposedly have when you call the number. I will call American Red Cross in Canoga Park and see if Harris direct is in that building. If so, Operation Dialtone will continue as planned.
Forgot to add, there are complaints over a year old, and the government has obviously not taken any action against these criminals. The only logical solution is show Jim Harris the true meaning of justice, through blood. Sorry "Harris Direct," you chose the wrong person to mess with. I haven't had my meds in 6 weeks, and the army taught me quite a bit about demolitions and interrogation techniques. After I blow your phone system, I will introduce Jim Harris to some pain until he explains why he makes these harrassing calls.
Note: This has ruined my life! My wife is convinced I am cheating on her because of the constant calls and hanging up!
This is a scam! I called the number back, and I got a voice recording to "leave my number with instructions do not call." This is a classic maneuver used by spam e-mailers to collect positive contact info. Most spammers include some link "remove me from mailing list," that only puts you on more mailing lists! I don't care if the website claims to support a bunch of non-profits, anyone can make a website! They could have acquired these numbers through all sorts of channels. They are most likely after your credit card or bank info to sell to some third party in the Cayman islands. DO NOT TRUST THEM. I called the official number on the website, and appeared to connect to their office. I connected to the call center and hung up as soon as someone picked up. I will continue to call and hang up, and I suggest you do the same. Maybe we can break their system. Barring that, I plugged in their physical address on Google Maps. I am heading to SoCal in a few weeks, and might just drop by to share a few Molotov Cocktails with them.

They have called several times a day for MONTHS! They won't leave a message.
It is the same Harris Direct with the same phone #818-591-8391 as everyone else here is complaining about. Most of the time I won't pick up, but then it makes them call even more.
I received a call from this number which was OK the gentleman had a great sense of humor he was a bit anoying but he made me laugh and I can apreciate his hard work. However, I will never give to the Democratic National Comitee again. I received a "follow up call" from a woman who said her name was Talia or Talya Fero from Harris Direct. She was making sure everything went OK with a call we recived regarding a donation to the D.N.C. She seemed arogant and self absorbed. This woman had the most self agrandizing attitude of anyone I had ever spoke to on the phone in my 63 years. Some how she seemed very jelous (aprehensive of losing affection or position) of this person who had called. Weird!! I told her I had no problem with him but I did however think the call was a juvinile guise of some alterior motive. I asked her to take us off the list. We give ten thousand dollars a year in donations to the D. N. C. I recieve numerous calls from this number. I am very tolerant. I do not apreciate some wack job calling me with the most superficial tone and motive. This woman was a loon. I will be calling the D.N. C. next week. We are very involed with the Democratic Party and we are upset at this Harris Direct. I do not apreciate someone I do not know acting as if it is OK to call me at my home and give me her autobiography. This women Talia/Talya had the audacity to rant on and on, bragging about her accolades as a singer/actress/Broadway showgirl. I will be writing the D.N.C. and researching Harris through my husbands law firm. Take me off the list Ms Fero. Please do not call ever again koo koo.

I have been called by this number for years. The Democratic National Commitee uses them as a donor call center. It is not the D.N.C. It is an intermediary. There name is Harris Direct. Harris Direct makes alot of money from charities like Doctors Without Borders. (who in my oppinion should be flogged for using them)
Doctors Without Borders makes plenty of money withoout handing out their call list to boiler rooms like Harris Direct. I spoke to some one at Tim Kaines office from the Democratic National Comitee. They said Harris Direct was authorized to call. I called them numerous times to tell them to take me off the list. We give over ten thousand dollars a year to the D.N.C. I have only had one pleasant call from anyone from this company and that was recently. However, after leaving a message with one of the callers telling him that I may just help but not to call anymore,
I recieved a call from a woman named Talia Fero, She claims to be a call center supervisor. She was one of the most misleading and self agrandizing people I have ever had the displeasure of speaking to. (if you could call it a conversation). Ms Fero was concerned about the caller misrepresenting himself. She then went on a rant that sounded more like a autobiography. I really had no problem with the way this gentleman carried himself. Apparently she did. I do not want to her about your acting career or the fact that you are an actress and an aspiring singer and how many languages you speak. You have got to be joking!. My husband is a legal advisor for the largest non profit law firm in the nation.
I have researched Harris Direct. Jim Harris is the C.E.O. He makes a ton of money from these charities and he guises the percentages and financials in a MOST HENIOUS AND IRESPONSABLE WAY. I will be writing the A.G.'s office in California. For anyone who cares to know, Mr. Jim Harris recieves four dollars a contact. A regular day in this office is two to three or even five thousand contacts. This finacial number is hidden, never factored, and never disclosed as a deficit to the charity. Harris Direct claims that charities recieve 87% of this money. Well, if that is true they are going around the grey areas in the Federal statutes requiring charities to disclose financials. Harris Direct is gettig paid four dollars a call by the charities plus commisions. Thousands and thousands of dollars each day. All coming off the top off donations.
None of the callers recieve commision. They are treated like slaves and often call 12 hours a day at 9 dollars an hour. The culprit is Jim Harris. He is making a near seven figures a year or more. Harris Direct should be reported to the A.G.'s office. Their percentages raised and given to charities are grosly misrepresented. This staggers the percentage of money going to the charities, Harris Dierct has aproximatley thirty to forty callers on the phone at any given moment. This percentage of money that Mr. Harris and Harris Direct are claiming to go to charities like Doctors is 87%. Boulderdash!! That is a blatent lie. They are not required to disclose this unless requested in writing. I intend to write Harris Direct and demand a financial disclosure. Let us see if we can bring these charloteens into the light.
Obviously they hire deviants like Talia Ferro who appears to be some wanna be Broadway showgirl. Crass and unprofessional. This ego maniac and her company that need a wake up call.
Our family will not be giving to the D.N.C. or Doctors anymore. I am going to do everthing with the perameters of the law to expose this company for what they are. I asume someone from your company is on this link doing damage control. That in itself is a huge red flag amongst many. Maybe you charities should hire some professionals and not some anal retentive know it all like Ms Fero and Harris Direct. That is my oppinion based on my experience. TAKE ME OFF THE LIST!!!

After getting numerous calls between 8 and 10 at night from this number that I did not answer, I finally answered. It was "Michael" calling on behalf of the World Wildlife Fund was me to pledge money to them. He gave them impression that he was calling from a type of "telethon" center, telling me that he'd had a "long 12 hour day" and I was his "last call" and if I'd support them the "whole room" would be happy. I told him to put me on the do not call list and he kept talking so I hung up.
harris direct is well-regarded, and u guys are making a mountain out of a mole-hill... i run a non-profit .. and they called me today to ask if they could help us fundraise. what is wrong with that? if u are concerned about a charity and what they do with the money, use the web to do research instead of screaming your heads off without getting the facts.
These people do NOT represent any charities that I support ... and they *DO* call my fax line several times a night ... when we answer and tell them that that we are on the DO NOT CALL list for US, then they ask "are you threatening me?" .. WHAT ASSHOLES !!!!!!!!
p.s. They have been doing this for almost 2 years now ... sometimes, 3-5 calls per night, like others, there is often no one on the other end as their telemarketing is crappy even such that they are unable to route a live agent to you when a live person on your end picks up and starts talking (which is how these systems are suppsoed to work)
p.p.s. Abviously the poster FRIEND herein works for this scum bag bunch !!!!!!!
Harris direct is not allowed to leave a message because it is within the charities wishes that we do not. Our goal is simply to reach and speak to the donor themselves and that standard is set by the charities that harris direct represents.
keeps calling but won't leave a message
If your on the national do not call list HARRIS DIRECT is still legally allowed to call because they are calling on behalf of non profits. If you answer the phone and allow them to identify from what charity their calling from the calls will stop..... look at my other comment below for more info.
I just filed my complaint with the FCC. They are calling my DO NOT CALL LIST federally registered number. You can file a complaint, too. Just go to: esupport.fcc.gov. Hopefully we can SHUT THIS DOWN!!! PS, does anyone have a complete list of the "charities" they call for?? I'd like to contact them directly to complain and let them know they will not be receivint ANY more $$ from me!!!
Receive calls once or more per day for several weeks. Want the calls to stop!
Harris M shows on caller ID. They call 2 times or more per day, but never leave a message. I'm on the national DO NOT CALL LIST. Why am I being called??
Calls come almost every day, never anyone there, no messages. Want them to stop!
Get calls from 818-591-8391 everyday (including weekends) and often get them multiple times in a day. How does one remove your number from Haris Direct's phone registry?
They called and my wife answered; I was not home. The woman who worked for Harris would not say what the call was about. My wife calls me and says "a woman called here and wouldn't leave her name". Nice, right?
Got many calls that just come up "California". I don't answer them nor am I worried that I need to answer them. Thanks for all the comments
They are relentless, calls for weeks, never pick up, they just call at different times. Give it up buddy, no one wants to talk to you at this number.
So glad I googled this - I was starting to get paranoid and thought someone was harrassing us.
Repetitive calls, may need to get a loud whistle.
I don't care who this company represents...they're pond scum. I will NOT donate to any organization that uses this telemarketing service. I've asked repeatedly for them to take my name off their list but it doesn't work. I now call them twice for every one call I receive from them. You can also send them faxes and at least use up their paper too!

They call EVERY DAY! Whenever I pick-up the phone there's never anyone on the line. If you want a donation then talk!!!
I have received calls from Harris Direct on my home fax line almost everyday for a few weeks now. I really wish this would stop.
Harris Direct is good company with good intensions. They represent many charities without getting a single penny from what you give over the phone when they call or send you something in the mail. This is why many charities like Doctor's Without Borders only works with Harris Direct alone and no other call centers. Although, they may call alot it's just because they have to reach you the contact, member, or supporter of the charity. If you never pick up of course they are going to call back again to reach you. Once they have made contact with you and you identify yourself and they tell you from what organization they are calling from you can say "please put me on your don not call list" and they willl graciously put you on that charity's no call list. This company works strictly for the charities best interests and works to reach people when a crisis has occured. This company is not obliged to folllow the do not call list because they are calling for non-profit organizations and your number is only avliable to call because you were a past supporter. They make no cold calls to people who haven't given anything in the past. Harris Direct also does not call on nationally recognized holidays seeing that the call center is closed.
Thank you and I hope this helps.
yeah it's a pain. apparently some transaction i did with the democratic party allowed my home phone to get on their call list. they called over and over even after being told not to call. i spoke with them the other day and they really pressed me to make a donation. i told that is not how i make donations and not to call anymore. they have not called since. understand all these causes need money but i really do not appreciate getting calls.
YEAH THEY CALL ME TOO. BUT LISTEN THEY HAVE A CLEAN BILL OF SLATE WITH ALL WATCH DOG ORG'S. I DONATE THROUGH THEM AND REALIZE THEY ARE INVADING MY SPACE A BIT . BUT THEY HAVE GOOD NUMBERS AS FAR AS I HAVE THOROUGHLY RESEARCHED. 87% AVERAGE GOES TO THE CHARITY. I AM NOT QUITTING MY JOB AND CALLING A BUNCH OF ANAL RETENTIVE UNGRATEFUL JERKS TO TRY AND SQUEEZE OUT A FEW DOLLARS AND TAKE A MOMENT OF THERE IMMEASURABLY BLESSED LIVES SO SOME FIVE YEAR OLD WITH ARMS AS BIG AS A TOOTH PICK WHO HAS JUST SEEN HIS FATHER MURDERED RIGHT BEFORE HIS EYES CAN FEEL LIKE THE LUCKIEST KID ON THE PLANET JUST BY HAVING A WARM MEAL AND A BLANKET. OR A FEW OF THE MOST COURAGE HEROES/DOCTORS WITHOUT BORDERS CAN HAVE THE PROVISIONS THEY NEED FOR THEIR EFFORTS TO SHOW THE WORLD THAT A LITTLE TEAM WORK CAN SAVE LIVES, WHY DO PEOPLE ALWAYS THINK ABOUT THEMSELVES.PICK UP THE PHONE AND TELL THEM YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED! THEN YOU WILL HAVE TO CRY ABOUT YOUR STARBUCKS COFFEE NOT BEING WARM ENOUGH OR SOME B.S.. ONLY IN AMERICA,,,GET A LIFE ZEALOTS!
I blocked the #, but it still rings. I returned the last call. It was picked up by Harris Direct, telemarketing for charities. Recording instructs to leave your # and they will remove. We'll see.
Calls from 818-591-8391 have been received for the past 2 weeks, sometimes multiple times each day, in spite of the fact that I am listed on the Federal No-Call list. Please report this company to the proper authorities. I have no idea who "Harris Direct" is, nor do I have any connection to them. Thank you.
Annoyed with these blood-clots! They've been calling for months, sometimes 2 a day. I'll have to lodge a complaint with the FTC or the BBB and hope it works.
They WILL NOT STOP calling. The last two days I've talked to the person on the phone and requested that they remove our number from their list permanently. Both times they said "I'll take care of it sir". I fully expect to be called tomorrow again. These people should be in prison.
yep these guys have been calling me for the past week at least twice a day. never leave a message.
go away please!
I returned from Thanksgiving and had three messages from this number on my work phone and have received three more calls today (Monday) 11/30/09.
this harris direct keeps on calling and calling , every day , including week days and week ends , they even called on Thanksgiving day
it is very disturbing , sometimes they ring as late as 8.00 or 9.00 pm !
please stop this abuse , enough is enough
leo
I've been receiving several phone calls from this number since 11/20/2009. They typically call between 4-6PM EST. I never answer and they never leave a message. If this is for ACLU, I am disheartened and frustrated. I donated money to foster some small change not to be harassed.
They have called several times daily. reading the comments, I suspect they are calling on behalf of the ACLU, but I gave the ACLU money (I believe directly) only a couple of weeks ago, so I feel like this org just got a "live lead" number from ACLU and wants to make a little money themselves.
I called back numerous times, got a recording to leave a message with a phone number to get on their Do Not Call list. The recording says they work for "a charity you support". Probably legit -- we're a pretty charitable household -- but like the "skillet person" on this page, I concur with their crappy timing.
I ZAPPED this number with phonetray.com
They can call all they want. They will NEVER get through.
Yes! Thank gosh for Google Voice. It isn't for everyone, but for me, it fixed this. I forward my landline (that these scumbags have the number for) to GV where I filter-out any number I don't like. It goes to phone-he11 where the operator lady says" you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer...." etc. They have ALL stopped calling, except one. (But I have to log onto GV web page to see it. The call doesn't ever ring my phone) The GOOD callers get forwarded to my Cell number. And to protect my cell number I use the GV number for outgoing calls, no one EVER sees my cell number, and I never give it out - just the landline or GV number.
Oh, and its FREE.
And voice mails come to my cell transcribed as text if i wanna take a quick look and not listen to the whole message, say at work.
If you want to get rid of this telemarketer and any other, download the FREE Phone Tray program and instruct your computer to hang up on them whenever they call.
Download it at: phonetray.com
You'll need a telephone modem that can read caller id to do this. Many computers already have one of these. If not you can get one from an older computer or just buy one and add it to your computer.
I use PHONE TRAY all the time and it has given me control of my land line again. No telemarketer bothers me more than once. The second time they call, PHONE TRAY zaps them! It's great and it's FREE!
We have been receiving calls from this number. The woman who called most recently identifed herself as calling on behalf of the ACLU and asked for my wife. I asked her not to call in the future. She informed me she needed to hear that from my wife--company policy-- and then hung up.
It's Harris Direct calling on behalf of a non profit organisation you've supported in the past - the recorded message you get if you call back says that by leaving your number you'll be taken off their list.
Get Google Voice. It screens these guys and others out for me. I never have to worry about it. Better than getting mad
I don't answer callers I don't recognize. When they call between 5-8PM, you can bet it's a telemarketer. I am on the DO NOT CALL list.
I would like to take the skillet I dropped on the floor accidentally to answer the a call from these assholes to:
1st smash their phone/equipment to bits
2nd smash their hands to bits so that they'll never bother us again
The number calls at least once a day and never leaves a message.
Just found an even better way of coming down on these predatory people: lodge a formal complaint with their Better Business Bureau:
la.bbb.org .
"file a complaint" link is on the left toward the top of the list. If you're not confident the FTC will do anything to them (donotcall.gov), then bring the BBB down on them!
That's lodge your complaints at donotcall.gov
Do not stop supporting the valued charities this predatory marketing firm CLAIMS to represent just because they are harassing you. This marketing group is in clear violation of the FTC rules on telemarketing, as many people report having informed them they may not call and yet they continue to call. LODGE YOUR COMPLAINTS AT . Enough complaints about this number (818-591-8391) will result in legal action against these jerks. Lodge a complaint w/ donotcall.gov every time these jerks call, and in your comments about the complaint make it clear when you asked them to stop calling and how many times they have continued to call. Let's get them off all our backs!
I have been getting many calls from this number. Finally decided to answer and find out who it is. They were calling on behalf of Planned Parenthood. I support this organization but I will no longer, because of these harassing calls.
I get two(2) calls a day, EVERY DAY, from this very
annoying telemarker. How can I put an end to this
pest? I'm already on the do-not-call list.
They have called twice already today, don't leave a message. Based on comments here, I am going to block their number.
They keep calling and have for about the past two weeks. I don't answer as caller ID tells me who it is. They never leave a message, just call back again. I am on do not call list and still get this call.
I finally answered the phone after innumerable calls from these folks. A woman got on the line right away. They were soliciting for a Planned Parenthood campaign.
They just keep calling day and night and will not leave me alone. How do you get rid of people when you are on do not cal list, and have nothing to do with the people, don't owe anyone etc.? I can't take it anymore. They wake us up everytime we try to sleep in, constantly call during mealtimes, I can't stand it! I'm sick and I can't get any sleep!!!!
They called on October 6 and again on October 7. When I answer the phone, there's nobody there, just a dead line. I have an unlisted number and am on a 'do not call' list, so I would like to know how they are managing to call me. How do I get rid of these jerks?
Harris Direct. They have been calling every day or so for the past few weeks and never leaves a message. I finally got fed up and answered in order to ask them not to call again. They asked for my husband, who wasn't available. Person on the other side said, "This is just a courtesy call," and then abruptly hung up. Some courtesy, huh?
call everyday and ask for me and i tell them i am not who they are looking for but keep calling back.Harris Direct is on my caller id they are a trading company.why are they calling me i wish i could trade something like maybe some peace and quiet from them calling.JERKS
These guys call every day between 11:30am and 1:00pm. They call at least 6 days a week and have been doing so for weeks. Several weeks ago I actually picked up and it was silence. It must be an unattended auto-dialer. Hopefully, they are out of business and the phone company will cut them off for lack of payment SOON!!!
called and asked for another party here and when I asked if I could take a msg they said NO and hung up.
Have called repeatedly, at least 4 times in the past 3 days. Today was the only time I've picked up and not screened them. I'm making a report of a violation to the national do not call list.
Why do you think people get on the NO CALL List? They don't want you calls and neither do I. STOP CALLING!!!!!
Answered on third ring for nothing - no talking, no breathing, nothing - just "dead air". Listened for about one minute, and then the call just "self-terminated" and disconnected.
Calling a business number and there is never anyone on the other end. Multiple times per day - very annoying!
This firm contracts to different charities to do soliciting for them. When they called me, it was on behalf of the Nature Conservancy (whom I USED to contribute to). It would be interesting to know what percentage of your contribution the charity actually gets. Probably not that much. And they just LOVE to call in the evening when I'm having dinner or watching a ballgame because they know that is the best time to catch someone at home. Makes me want to contribute!
Do Not Call again!
Received 4 calls from this number in two days. The caller left no message on the answering machine. Called back and heard a recording identifying the caller as Harris Direct...purportedly calling on behalf of an unspecified charity.
Calls come in every night around dinner time no message is ever left.
We get at least 3 phone calls a day from this number. As I do not recognize the number I do not answer. They never leave a message. Calls are at all hours of day and night.
This is a company that makes calls for charities. They call me every day and I see their caller ID but they leave no message. I have a new answering machine that I can program to block certain callers, so I put their number in. It rings once and then the system blocks the call and cuts it off. So far within the last 2 hours today they have called twelve times!!! Finally I stopped trying to take my nap and called them back. You get a recording that tells you to leave your name and number to stop the calls, so I did that. Then they called again the next minute. I answered and spoke to a very nice woman, who said she was calling for Doctors Without Borders, and seemed amazed that they had called me 12 times in the last two hours. She said it's their automated dialer. She agreed to take me off their list. It has now been a whole 15 minutes since they called. Whew!
We are now receiving two or three calls per day from them, with no message and no response
when we answer.
Call hangup at 630 pm.
PS. The caller ID shown was HARRIS DIRECT.
Got a call about 9 on a saturday night, loudly demanding to talk to me (with my legal name which no one uses) and hanging up abruptly when told I wasn't here.
Unwanted calls every day; no messages left
These people repeatedly call my number and never leave a message. Annoying.
