I have been receiving collection notices from Collectech Systems even though I have worked out an arrangement with Direct TV. I have also spoken with a rep from Collectech and the gentleman I talked to noted on my file that I would not be turned in to the credit bureau. I disputed the debt pursuant to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. Thereafter, I received another call (which I understand is subject to a $1,000 fine after disputing debt) and she was very rude and uncooperative. I called Collectech back and got another woman who was extremely rude, would not look up the notes on my account and kept telling me she wanted my Direct TV account number. When I gave it to her she said it was the wrong number. I have recently had a family death and I don't have time for fools who do not understand the calls. Please help

Called my cell twice. They ask for me but they won't identify themselves. Since they won't, I don't either. First time they said they would call back. Did some research, found this place. Called DirectTV--I don't owe them any money as I put my account is suspension when I moved. I verified that I didn't owe anything and the young lady verified. I asked her to report this to her manager--she said she would. Who knows...shady that they won't identify themselves.

I never made the correlation before, but I had just paid my bill via directv's site this morning and a couple hours later received this call. Now that I think of it, I receive the call every time I pay my bill.

I saw no mention of anyone whom pays their bill on the Internet.

I think Direct TV's site or data base must have been hacked or is exposed. I received a call from this number today, 4 hours AFTER I made a payment over the Internet on directtv.com, and changed my phone number on my profile to my cell phone. DTV never had this number until today. And my account is current and in good standing. Simply, someone has hacked their system.

I can't wait for these knobs to call me again. I'm going to have some fun with them. I'm fluent in German and Korean (former military linguist), so they're going to be really confused when I respond. I think I'll mix up both languages in one sentence, and leave that fricker scratching his head.

Tried to call the number back immediately after I got the call and it said it had been changed or disconnected.

The aholes call me 3 sometimes 4 times a day on my cell. Some how they even got my moms cell number and ask her if i was available,she said this isnt' her phone number. The jerk then asked if i had a husband....what do these people want? Next time i see that unlisted number (now that i know who they are) im going to give them a piece of my mind and all my favorite 4 letter words.

when I answered I got a recording that started saying please hold... I hung up and didn't listen to their recording I looked up the number on MSN reverse phone and its listed under a Ralph Phillips in Los Angeles Ca.

Answer calls from 818-450-5600 and the operator always speaks Spanish. I have no idea who this is!!!

Called twice early in morning and didn't leave message. I found this site by googling the number. Glad to know I'm not the only one. It sure bugs me when people don't leave a message.

When I answered the phone, an automated voice said "Please hold and you will be connected to a representative." I held and the call disconnected.

They call everyday, many times a day, don't leave a message and if I answer, there's no one there.

Called us today. It's a robodialer, with an automated "please stay on the line, this is an important matter" type message on it. We hung up. Just the number on caller ID, Googled and found this site.

It sounds like a major scam from what I'm reading, and I suggest that anyone who gets a call from this number immediately contact the FCC, the FTC, and the FBI and report it as an attempt to steal personal information.

They call me about 10 times a day at least. I am not in collections with Direct TV and called them to tell them about this. The guys said he apologizes for the calls but it's not them. I asked him if they have reported this to anyone and they claim that they have no knowledge of anyone having this issue. I does sound like someone broke in to the database, either that or Direct TV doesn't want to own up to them hiring on a scum company to try to collect on customers that are not even 1 week past their due date

Last 4 days in a row, calls late afternoon, with no messages, no caller I.D. As i read all these messages it sound like someone broke into Direct TV, database and has gotten some of our information. Its time we all call Direct TV and hold them accountable for it!

They called my Husbands cell number and asked for me by my full name. They didn't give him any info on where they were calling from, all they said was his name was Juan and that it was a personal business matter. Today 1/10/07 is the first time they call.

I think these people are trying to steal Identies some how. Maybe they steal numbers from different companies like Direct TV, and try getting info somehow.
Strange thing is, they called my husband's cell asking for me.

It would be interesting to find out who's doing this and for what reasons if most of the time they hang up on people when they answer.

Maybe if u say they have the wrong number they will stop calling you.

It's now the number of the office of Walter Liss, president of ABC television.

I answered it was a guy saying he was calling from Directv about my past due bill. I had already paid my bill and service was not even interupted. When Directv calls there is always a toll free number. I told him he had the wrong information and he got nasty, he even had the amount of my last monthly bill. This is what scares me, Directv claims noone has our information, but there is someone calling asking for my cc and having my account information and its not their acct dept. For as along as I have had this service I have NEVER had them call me about this.

If this is indeed a collection agency claiming to operate for DirecTV then they're in violation of federal law by not properly identifying themselves. A nice class action suit should hammer them for $500 per violation...

We are DirecTV customers but not in collections.

This appears to be an agency trying to collect a directtv bill. I am disable and had given direct tv my cell no. by accident and they are the only ones who had my cell phone number. They were trying to collect a direct tv bill that I had already paid. Don't ever, ever share DirectTV your cell number. I wonder now, other collection agencies may get my cell number now. The person was very rude even though, I said it had been paid and he finally read the notes, and said, yes it was paid. Geezzzz....

Have recieved before in the past. Recieved again late night. Don`t have a clue. If it is a collection agency they could be collecting for different companies. I had a collection person tell me they have several different companies the handle. So they could be calling for any company. I personally dont think they should be able to call more than once a day.

They are from collecttech, claiming to be collections for DirectTV. I received a bill also in the mail so they with my satellite info on it. I called the number on the bill and it's direct tv customer svc...go figure

Oh, now this is ripe, I did not realize that the newest posts were at the bottom, so it is Direct TV’s collection agency? Now this is a complete joke, I am in theory a most valued customer, not only am I paid up and have several of their high end packages {NFL, MBL HD}, the morons charged me for a receiver they should not have and I still paid the charge until they get it cleared up. Those jokers are going to be real shell shocked when people like me start bailing on them when better stuff gets rolled out and it is just a matter of months now, a couple of years max, to get it out to the outer areas, but if you are in densely populated area, just months. AT&T is just winding up getting the permits for their fiber to the prim projects and when that happens, they will be able to roll it out in a matter of a month in some places, the back bone is in place, they just need to move it that last leg to get it close enough to the homes to make it work. We been breaking our backs over it for over a year now and they are going to roll it out at cut throat prices when we get those last needed permits, these jackasses are in for one hell of a shock real soon.

They keep calling my cell phone and never leave a message. Once I answered but no one said anything. Another time they asked for me by name and I told them they had the wrong number and they tried to get me to verify ...I just hung up. They are very annoying and they call me several times a day..now I just push ignore on my cell phone and disconnect the call.

Called three times and I didn't answer. Tried to call back but got a busy signal all day. They called again this morning and I answered. It was some guy claiming I owed money to DirecTV and to send him a money order or give a check by phone. I owe no money and told him I had tried to call and got a busy. He said that's because they are on an autodialer and I needed to give him $$. I called him a scammer and hung up.
Then I called DirecTV to report it and they said they would pass it to a manager. Yeah Right. These guys are con artists. I"m going to have fun with them now. I hope they call again.

Has called 4 or 5 times daily. Onlyu answered first time and could not understand what was said. Then I came online to see if I could find out who was calling and here I am. I wish there was some way to stop this. Can anyone help?

They are a debt collection agency for DirecTV. I know this because my account is in collection! Ha! And no, they will not leave a message.

Called my work today at 11:25, ask for me by my married name. They asked me if I was CW? I said that depends, being that I went back to my maiden name. He then said well think about it for a while and hung up on me? WTF? I'll think about a harrassment suit if they keep it up!

When they call- which is 3 times a day, I tell them that I am selling Magazines and ask them if they would like to buy them. They hang up.

This number is connected to Direct TV.
The irresponisble representatives at DirectTV refuse to properly disconnect my account that I have not used for over a year so now I must suffer through having my phone ring constantly by whoever is calling from this number.

There ought to be some type of law preventing this.
It's one thing to owe money and be harrased, but it's another to owe nothing and constantly be harrased by this company who.

btw, why isn't simply illegal for people to call from an outgoing line only that can't receive calls and provides no caller ID info? No reputable company would do this.

I suspect this is someone who has stolen account information attempting to garner credit card info. DirecTV says they dont use these people. Doesn't mean their records weren't hacked tho. What's amazing is that the feds or at least the LA DA doesn't go after these people.

They call once a week and never leave a message. I never answer number's I don't recognize, too many telemarketers. I called the number back and couldn't get through. I do have DirecTV, but this is the last month of my contract and not renewing.

Caller Id says 1-818-450-5600, they called this morning, my wife answered, I could hear her speaking to someone, but paid no attention(I was half asleep still) she said they were asking for me, but they would not give a name and no number for me to contact them, I use vonage, I can change my number to appear that it comes from any state, it would be impossible to know were the call was truly coming from. I will never answer again, but will check here for updates.

They've been calling me too! I called the number 866-230-1983 because this is their business line that I found on this website. She said they had the wrong number and would remove me from the list. They would not state how they got my number or why noone leaves a message or even speaks when I answer.

Collection agency calling for Embarq phone service. The name is Collect Tech Systems - it shows up as a dialer number the contact nubmer is 800-785-1606, if you cancel service, they send your bill there to get paid.

We receive 3-4 calls per day (beg. 8am and ending just before 10pm) from the number 818-450-5600. My wife is ill and they are a constant bother. We plan to contact Verizon on Monday to have the number blocked. Cell phone people should check their phone instructions as there are easy ways to block numbers on cell phones. I do not know if landlines work the same. Hopefully, Verizon will have a quick remedy when we contact them next week.

Have gotten a few calls from them. Them "name" shows up as 8184505600 and the Number is 818-450-5600. No message, I call back it is busy.

finally answered it. Guy was from Collect Tech, collections. Claimed I owed money from a ??? mobility, that used to be Arjay pagers. Said this had been in collections for a year. I didn't have a pager then, so he tried scaring me with the wrong address and SS#. I'll see if they continue calling.

I just started getting these phone calls last week. Can't say that it is annoying - yet. However it is more 'odd' than anything else. i am suspect of this as well and - if I have to - will change my phone number to avoid getting these calls in the future.

Anyone who is called by this number should send an e-mail or call the Clark Howard show (he goes after scam artist collection agencies like this) clarkhoward.com ... if enough of us send e-mails or call, maybe it will end up on the show. It's the only way guys like this get put out of business, and companies like DirectTV will quit using slime like this.

They've started calling me lately. We used to have DirectTv several years ago but don't owe them any money! I just got this cell number, so I have no idea how they know it. When they call me, I get a recording in Spanish. The same recording every time. The guy talks too fast, so I can't understand what he's saying. They never call my husband's phone, and he's had his # for 4 years or so - the time when we had DirectTv, so it can't be them.

i have gotten lots of calls on my cell phone from Direct tv from an 800 number. they ask for someone i dont know and i told them i dont have directtv. they said they took my number off the list. the calls stopped for about a month and kept coming. now this number is calling too.

I got one too, and I have Directv but my bill is simply a little late, it is not past due till the following week - even then nobody from collections would call as that would mean I cancelled my account, never paid, etc. I suspect they were a recipient of some stolen data and we just happened to be on that list. Just add a number with a distinctive ring and call it "F OFF" like I did. So when they call, it is actually pretty funny. If it continues, I will call FCC to complain.

It is Allied Westlake of Columbus, Ohio, a collection agency. They are absolutely hounding us over a debt that was long ago paid to the original vendor and was not paid due to a address change mailing error. They are relentless and unethical. No matter how many time you tell them it is paid and regardless of the information you provide they will keep calling. Scum at the highest level.

This company is harrasing my mother. They keep calling several times a day for several weeks and asking for my dad. They will only say its a peronal matter and if she tells them not to call they get a very nasty attitude and will say something rude and hang up. But they will keep calling back and I cant reach anyone by calling the number. It says invalid number. The operator says its a collection agency but its impossible he owes anything...These people are pissing me off.

This phone number shows on our caller ID three times a day. When we get home from work we get another. They ask to speak to one of our children and will not identify who they are, what they want, or the reason for there call. Our local telephone company cannot help as this is a company out of our area. Our local police cannot help as they have not "threatened us directly". GREAT.

Yep this is for DirecTV Collections department. I owe them a bill that i am disputing and they keep calling.. So if you have direcTV thats who it is!

Made calls to my cell phone and my home phone. Didnt leave a message. Tried to call it back, said it has been disconnected. Will block number and report number to the DNC list.

Starting calling me claiming that they were trying to collect a UPS debt from my company. He knew all the information about a lost bill that had already been resolved long before and UPS knows nothing about any collection. Keeps calling and never leaves a message. Sounds like a rip off scam to me since I have proof of payment.

They have been calling my home for over 2 weeks at the same time every morning- 8:15. At first I didn't answer, then I did answer and there was no one there. When they called this morning, I answered, and they asked for my husband and I asked "What company are you calling with?" They only said that they needed to talk about "personal matters".

Just the number appeared and below it same number appeared .. I believe as the others said its direct tv

They don't leave a message. It could be DirecTV. I don't owe them money, but they are trying to get my husband to subscribe to the football package. They send us bills that look like you owe it when in fact it's just a prepayment.

Called my home looking for my ex-father-in-law and told me HE didn't want to play any games when I told him he did not and had not ever lived here. Was a complete jerk, and if I knew who it was, I'd call them 50 times a day, just like they do me!

This number is for Collectech Systems, Inc of Columbus, Ohio. They claim to represent DirecTv. I called DirecTv and my account is not in collections at all. I smell a rat!

Received a call from 818-450-5600. Left no message and the caller ID showed no other info but the phone number. I get these calls about 5 times a week.

The number in question has called my home for atleast the past two weeks. Sometimes at insane hours of the morning. I get atleast two or three of these calls a day, everyday.

I am on the NDNC Registry and there is no way they could be calling me for any type of collection whatsoever. I am completely debt free, and have never owed a debt in my life.

They call my phone all times of the day and night and morning and have a horrible attitude. They asked for me by name and won't tell me what they are calling for. When I called it back i got the same recording as everyone else saying that the number had been disconnected.

Called and said it was a matter concerning my grandmother and needed to speak with her or a power of attny. I complained about the constant phone calls and he got real smart a$$ with me. Couldnt get any info out of him.
