I guess that there is no reason to create the academic essay by own efforts! For me, it's more comfortable to buy the essay thesis at essay writing service, just because it saves free time.

2010-01-28 21:49:59 UTCPepe LePew

Citi banks is behind the number. If you have a business relationship, the do not call list doesn't apply. You must call the business directly and be removed from their database. Of course, if you are delinquent, not much chance of that happening as they are allowed to call to collect on debt.

2010-01-24 23:09:39 UTCRegi

I have received several calls from them today and have not answered. I saw that some people on this site are saying it's because they have past due accounts, so I immediately logged on to my account and I am not past due on my bill at all. Either this is a scam or they've got the wrong number.

2010-01-08 23:15:22 UTCFF

No kidding! Just today, I got 3x the call from this stupid #.

2010-01-04 21:56:10 UTCJackie

Still receiving calls from this number, even though I signed up for the DO NOT CALL list. How can they be stopped?

2010-01-02 13:19:29 UTCKieran Lavin

They've called multiple times over the past few days. There is one card I have that the bank screwed up and screwed me. I'm still making minimum payments on the bill though so there is still no legit reason to be calling. I love having a VOIP phone because any annoying calls like this, after a few times, I just reroute their call back to their own number. How annoying that must be to them (or "confusing" to a robot dialer)

2009-12-28 14:13:26 UTCPissed Off

8:15am is too early to be calling, Citicards. They have called without leaving a message at least 6 times over the past 2-3 days, calls starting before 9am - not acceptable. Harassment.

2009-12-09 13:23:25 UTCTS

Found out Citi bought the Key Cards. Been harassing me with calls so going to just pay the card off and not do business with Citi. They win.

2009-11-14 23:35:46 UTCJJ

This IS CitiBank Credit Cards. I hardly ever in my lifetime have had a late payment. I had a late payment this last month and they are going crazy over it. This number is the number they called me on. It is legit.

2009-11-09 16:43:24 UTC2nd number

I was being buggi=d by citi something else byut this one stareted. I had to do the *57 call trace to get the first number to stop.

(816) 420-1002 CITICORP CREDIT HARASSMENT CALLS- NON STOP!

Automated robot dailer, no live person at the other end.....

2009-06-20 16:37:19 UTCds

update: I called Citicard, and they (2 different departments) told me that this number was not them calling. I have no changed my phone number.

2009-06-20 16:05:22 UTCds

I received a call from them, and answered. It was a security call from Citicard. The recorded message was for someone else. I was given the option to tell them the person was not me. (I didn't give them any other info, though I did confirm the number they called). I did not talk to people from India, as far as I could tell...

Then they called again, and I didn't answer. (no message left)

2009-02-01 22:38:59 UTCLurker

(816) 420-1002

I must have received at least 30 calls in ten days from this number. I answered it once in the beginning. It was an automated call from Citi Card with a request for me to get in touch with them concerning my account. The message also said my real name and asked that I enter a code number which; of course, I did not. Thinking on the matter, I realized that I hadn't made a payment on my last statement which put me in delinquent status. Between back surgery and a painful recovery, I completely forgot to pay my bill. Since making a payment; just this past Friday, I'm still getting bombed with calls from this number. I suspect they'll stop as soon as my payment posts. If any of you are late paying your Citi Card, I suggest you make a payment or you will continue to receive those automated messages. They're relentless! They're Bots, and they don't care if they're annoying you.

2008-11-29 19:16:25 UTCJackJack

I DO NOT have an outstanding account with Citi Cards, and they called. It may be about services they offer; but if it's about accounts its a scam

2008-10-05 09:33:00 UTCMica

Got calls from this number four times today but I screened calls so didn't pick up. They also had the nerve to make the first call at 7 am! I was so annoyed that whoever it was kept calling that I eventually I did a *69 and found out the number that was making the calls. From some comments here I see some people saying it is Citibank and then other comments that its a scam. Call blocking sounds like a good idea! The sounds on the answering machine were muffled music and voices and then hang-up.

2008-09-26 19:59:25 UTCJack

after calling back...it is citicard but they call from India...

2008-08-30 02:10:04 UTCmeow

suck. hate it....can they stop calling people around. so annoying...if late fee, then just send the email then. i really hate citi card customer service

2008-08-19 19:26:31 UTCCM

This number IS from Citibank credit cards. I just received it so I called Citibank directly and it is valid - not a scam. This number calls you if you have an outstanding balance due to bring you current. I was only $4 overdue so they called me anyway to straigten it out.

2008-06-26 23:21:43 UTCJay

Some post on here seem to think if an automated message asks you to enter your information that its legit. That does not mean that its legit, most likely they are trying to obtain your information. Always call the Card Company directly.

2008-06-16 15:55:47 UTCBrian

I have received 7 calls in the past 24 hours. The first three voicemails I checked contained two chimes then a click. I just hit ignore now. This must be a scammer.

C'mon guys! It's not CitiCards or At&T. Just the usual attempt to steal your identity.
Don't answer the # you don't recognize! It has nothing to do with your bills overdue
or whatever. Stop being an easy target!!!

2008-03-17 21:47:51 UTCMSM

Got called by this number twice today in two hours. Did not leave a message either time. 03/17/2008

2008-03-11 13:09:31 UTCScott

(continued) I called the collections department and told them that I had made a payment arrangement, yet the robot continues to call me, and mentioned the FDCPA. They stated that they can continue to call as long as the account is past due regardless of whether an arrangement has been made. Perhaps I'll sue them and see who's right.

2008-03-11 13:07:20 UTCScott

in march of 2008 this number is an automated collection robot from citibank credit cards. In my opinion it's in violation of The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act 15 USC 1692d(5) (Federal Law) which forbids repeatedly causing the phone to ring for the purpose of harrassment. I had made a payment arrangment with Citi stating that I would bring my account current on or before March 15. They accepted that arrangement, yet the robot continued to call 3 or 4 times per day. The robot will not say anything until the answerer says something first. It is not possible to get a human being, yet the robot continues to harrass and will not hang up until it gets a payment. If you hang up on it, it will call back in a few hours. It called on my cell phone, and left voice mail.

2008-03-06 00:23:37 UTCTheJenellen02

I've gotten calls from 816-420-1169 and 816-420-1000. I've read about a half a page of what everyone else here has written and I called Citibank too, the number on the back of the card. The first guy I talked to was completely oblivious to what I was talking about. He, of course, said Citibank had no connection to those phone numbers, but that didn't help me at all. I went ahead and called again (I happen to have 2 cards... idiotic move, but they were my first credit cards, student cards). The second person I talked to was a young woman who knew what to do about it. She forwarded in the info to the Fraud Department and said I'd get a call back in about 24 hours. I'd agree with everyone else; it's a phishing scam. It only makes sense. Yeah, my payments have been late recently, but only because I'd just gotten laid off by the worst managed company ever. Other than that... for 2 years I've never gotten harassing phone calls like that. Who the heck would answer a call at 7 in the morning anyway from someone they don't know and it's not local? I saved the # in my phone book and set it to "NO RING" just like someone else on here did, good idea. Something for those who happen to have this feature on their cell, you can switch you volume to "ALARM ONLY" so if you use your cell as your alarm clock, that's all you'll ever hear in the morning, your alarm. This doesn't work so well for people who use their cell for emergency purposes... unfortunately. Might have to change my cell # after all this. Jeez.

2008-03-05 20:40:48 UTCJ Hugol

Suspicious call from Citicard. Wouldnt stop asking for a payment, even a partial payment, just a little payment with my check/debit card. When pressed about his background info, account number, address, etc. he hung up.

2008-03-03 20:10:23 UTCSt. Pierre

Have received at least 40 calls from this number. I do not answer if I don't know the number and not once did they leave as message as to why they were calling.

2008-02-15 19:14:01 UTCDon Muerte

The number is Las Palmas Apartments in Las Vegas. You can leave a review of their complex at the following site: apartmentratings.com

Maybe a few hundred negative reviews will suggest to them that placing annoying calls might not be in their best interest.

2008-02-11 22:18:49 UTCSteven Kaye

I said "Hello" as I answered, got a message about my "associated bank card" and how I should press 1 to continue in English (or 2 in Spanish, but that part was said in Spanish). Pressed 1, got disconnected.

2008-02-04 18:16:40 UTCjj

thes people called and verbal threatme...either they are from other side of the world or retarded.

too bad they are not in houston ..

2008-01-31 15:01:37 UTCcarol

I must get 30 calls a day from this number, they call and call but no one is there when you answer it. I am so tired of them calling, what can I do?

2008-01-30 04:41:35 UTCDallas

I thought for sure it was suspicious even though the prompts sounded legit, but there was no professionalism from the person I spoke with- sounded like a used car salesman. I called the # on the back of my Citi Card after reading the comments below, the rep said that they do have "collectors" that call out of this area code, and that the information it sounded like they knew of my transaction history and bill amount could only be known by Citi... I'm 96% sure its legit now, and probably just a bill collector bc I too had a payment due about 10 days ago.

Keep us updated on if you find something out other than what I'm reporting, b/c it fired me up when I thoguht it might be scammers.

2008-01-29 20:53:39 UTCMichael

It is Citibank Credit cards. They called me today and I answered and it was due to me missing a payment. They were giving the option to pay by phone with no fee.

2008-01-25 02:26:53 UTCprimemover

No message was left but when calling them back, this is CitiCards/Visa/MasterCard contacting you about some irregularity, including late payment issues. This could include Sears cards (the CitiCards manages.)

Recommend that if you don't have any cards, then some new card user either entered the wrong contact number in error or they entered in a bogus number that happens to be you. When callees don't answer, the citicard system dials your number from a different number, including different area code. Ultimately, yer gonna want to call them back to get to the bottom of this. If you do have a citibank credit card, not calling back will damage your credit rating because these boyz don't call to sell you anything. Waiting for your statement to arrive will only make it harder to resolve the problem.

This is related to citicards for sure. Citicorp Credit shows in the callerID. I have a card, yet no issues, no debts, no transaction disputes. This number calls 5-10 times a day. I especially don't like when some of the calls only have two rings, while others have had up to 20.

2008-01-13 17:23:30 UTCDEB

Phone rang this morning and I didn't make it to the phone by the 4th ring - got a busy signal. Called the number back and asked if this was Citicorp Credit and was told it wasn't.

2008-01-12 01:06:29 UTCmeat54

it is citi bank card pay your bill!!

2008-01-07 14:44:37 UTCJazz man

They call me at the most inopportune times. Once at 3am another time at 10pm. I think they've worked the whole clock. I paid my Credit Card Bills but still these people keep bothering. I just won't answer and I'll wait till they get tired or get another profession. Thanks for the form, it reassures me.

2008-01-05 19:27:02 UTCjk

This actually was a legitimate call from my credit card company (ATT Universal Card). I called the number on the back of the card, and he confirmed that they had tried to contact me twice. The agent acknowledged that the call probably sounded 'scammy', and said that lots of customers were suspicious about some of their calls.

2007-12-21 01:12:49 UTCLulu

I got at least 3 times from this caller ID...today

2007-12-14 21:03:32 UTCChris

Yes, it is Citi. I had a past due account and that's why they called... I never actually answered though so I don't know if they would actually speak when I answer.

2007-12-10 22:54:08 UTCAria

I started getting the calls - many of them - when I/my phone was in Italy roaming!!! At $2 a call every time it rang. Plus w/ the time change, it would ring half the night;( I never answered. Hate them!

These people are claiming to be calling from Citibank, according to the automated message left on our voice mail. I'm pissed. No one wakes me up at 8am on a Saturday unless someone's dead or dying!

2007-10-24 13:09:36 UTCRich Michigan

Calls incessantly. When I answer, it tells me to wait for an important call. If I do wait, it just disconnects. I know it is from Citibank because it says so if I call the number back.

2007-10-18 15:30:00 UTCMatt

This is Citibank/Citicards. 2 reasons why you may be getting calls from this #:

1. They want to sign you up/you've been "pre-approved" for a card.

2. Like KH said:

"This is the Citi Cards automated line, it is just like telemarketing. It is the phone number that calls you to let you know you need to pay your credit card bill. If you call the number back it directs you to the automated payment system."

I have a late payment on a card and they will call you incessantly until you pay it up (times per day varies). Of course I just ignore the call (because I'll pay it as is) :)

2007-10-14 23:27:09 UTCKatie

This number sucks! They have called 7 times today beginning at 5:18am and it is only 4:26pm and this has gone on for over a week. They claim to be Citicards and ask for my account number. Completely sketchy, but more annoying than anything else. They will never get any information from me.

2007-10-04 15:48:15 UTCJulie

816-420-1002 // This # calls me 2-3 times a day. I haven't answered it. Today, I called it back and got the message "Thank you for calling CITI CARDS". So it is for Citibank, credits cards, in which I am a card member.

2007-09-30 19:17:41 UTCunknown

I keep reading and hearing about this problem, but I still have NOT heard what are all of you doing about it. Have you guys contacted your phone provider, what aboutthe police? Have you all filed a report for the police to look to find whose number is this and what are they gonna do to shut it down? Maybe there needs to be something additional done like escalate it to the higher authority. Bottom line is we all know about this number and have no idea who they are and how to make them stop. BUT we are not stupid. Therefore, we need to join and fight this. No not by cursing at them. That gets nowhere, but by action and ending this joke for once and for all!

2007-09-19 18:11:33 UTCMK

I'm not sure who it is, but I'm guessing that it is a collections company. I've been getting calls from them as well.

2007-09-14 16:47:00 UTCKat

This is Citibank calling all of you-- They administer the following cards: Choice Visa, At & T, Sears, Associated Bank, Shell, Goodyear, Radio Shack, Zale's, Home Depot, Phillips, Rooms to Go, Childrens Place, BP, Quicken, Verizon. If you have any of these cards or do business with them, you are at risk of getting these calls even if you are 48hrs or less late on you credit card payments to them, They will call your cell phone and home phone if they have it and start at 8:00am til 9:00pm. Use call blocking provided by your phone services. IF you do not have this, it would be wise to get it.

2007-09-13 15:58:24 UTCpaula

This is gettng annoying. My cp keeps ringing at work and I don't take calls at work unless it's an emergency

2007-09-02 23:05:41 UTCM

I'd like to know why if there are so many complaints about these people calling, why isn't someone doing something? I've read in the comments that alot of us are on the DNC list, so aren't they breaking the law? Isn't it considered harrassment if they are calling 3 & 4 times a day, every day? Who do we need to start harassing to get these people to stop calling us??!!

2007-08-24 00:30:39 UTCChris

Today I received 5 calls from this number - I don't ever intend to answer the call. I also just got dinged with a charge from NY from my checking account yesterday. Related?

2007-08-22 16:42:22 UTCmike

The number is Citicard credit cards. They told me that they are only allowed to call 3 times a day and if they leave a message there is some legal mumbo-jumbo that says they cannot call back.

2007-08-16 16:50:26 UTCjose

Been getting 4-5 calls a day sometimes for the past 2 weeks. I cannot get number blocked. It leaves a message sometimes telling me to call some 800 number, and to tell them a code. It asks for the wrong guy. I will file a police report. It seems to be fraud. I never call them back or will. It's such a waste of my time. I will change my number now.

2007-08-09 00:37:31 UTCriverside

I've been solicited for the past week and a half by thi number on my cell phone. I'm going to file a police report on them tomorrow. I get 5 calls a day or so, sometimes a voice message telling me what number to call back, and some kind of special code. I will never call them back.

I have bee receiving calls from this number for two day in a row since yesterday 07/14/2007. 11 times!!!!!!! I picked it up once and no one answered. The second time it was a message from some credit card company and to hear what was the reason they were calling the asked me to press 1. Then I hung up, cause I don“t know if they are trying to steal my signal or get my personal information.

2007-07-03 16:34:45 UTCJeff

Several calls a day for several weeks. I called back and got CitiCard. Pressed "0" when asked for account number, and talked to representative who found my name on her list and asked for security code. I told her I don't have a CitiCard. She thanked me and wished me a good day.

this is a scam...i have never had one late payment with Citi EVER and they are calling me...so for those of you who say "pay your credit cards",you dont know what you are talking about....this is a total scam...i called citibank---the number off my credit card---and they told me NOT TO ANSWER these calls, that they are bogus..........

2007-06-13 13:28:00 UTCMargo

My question is why on earth do you people think they would list individual customer service numbers or automated alert phone numbers on the internet. You people are complaining that it doesn't come up on google or your caller ID and thats for a reason. People shouldn't be calling back individual customer service reps at the call center to tell them not to call back. When you signed up for the credit card you gave them all your information by providing your Social Security Number. Go pay your credit card bills and the calling will stop.

2007-06-13 13:21:55 UTCKH

This is the Citi Cards automated line, it is just like telemarketing. It is the phone number that calls you to let you know you need to pay your credit card bill. If you call the number back it directs you to the automated payment system.

2007-06-05 22:26:40 UTCJay

Definitely a scam.

The people claiming otherwise are most likely part of the scammers. If you have a past due balance or a Citi account, it is a coincidence. I have a Visa Debit from work, I work at another bank, and I've had the card about a week.

It's impossible for me to have an overdue balance or for Citi to have my info. Don't give them a thing and ignore the people here telling you otherwise.

2007-06-05 15:44:58 UTCRacerdog

CitiCard/Bank has no reason to set up an automated phone call to obtain information about account information. They already have it. So the call is definately a scam.

2007-06-03 19:31:19 UTCadw

phish scheme i think - don't give them any info. i've set their ringtone to "none" so I don't even know they've called until my phone says I've missed a call.

2007-05-14 06:56:28 UTCGaines

I do believe these calls were placed from Citi as a result of my current bill's payment being late. I called the number on Citi's website instead of giving personal information to an unknown caller. I don't see why they felt they needed to harass me as they already charged me a $40 late fee and are going to rape me with 36% interest until I can pay off my balance and never use them again.

2007-05-13 16:41:55 UTCRobin

This is incredibly frightening.... seeing as how I *have* a Citicard... and I have a past due balance. However, going by the rest of their crappy customer service I figured that they wouldn't call to tell me my acct was late. By the way, this number does NOT google as a CitiCard number. Do NOT give your account number to ANY number except the customer service on the back of your card.

2007-05-12 00:20:27 UTCSarah

several calls a day no one says anything...getting really annoyed...anyway to block a specific number?

2007-04-30 01:23:43 UTCshoof67

I just recently started getting these calls. They have been calling for the last week. Unless I know the person, I won't answer. No messages have been left. They have called from 816-420-1168 as well as 816-420-1169. Luckily for me, I have never known anyone from MO so I have never answered the calls.

2007-04-26 19:30:02 UTCRosemary

this is definitely not the collections department. whoever keeps posting that it is probably them. It is a scam to get you to give them your credit card number or social security number. I called them and told them I was reporting them and they laughed and basically admitted it. I have reported them to the FBI and the FTC and I spoke with the fraud department at citicards. They are getting right on it and hopefully the phone company that leases the line will shut down the number...they also call from 816-420-1168. They have harrassed me with 5 phone calls every other day for a week now. They messed with the wrong person.

2007-04-26 19:00:20 UTCnone

it's the collections department calling

2007-04-26 15:53:24 UTCRosemary

this is definitely a phishing scam...do not under any circumstances give them any information....they ask for your credit card number or social security number!!!they call 5 times a day and the last call they finally leave a message saying it is AT&T universal giving a different call back number and "security code" to punch in...I don't call back....I called 1002 number that calls me 5 times a day and asked for a supervisor, they would not give me a supervisor and kept asking for my credit card number or SS#, I told them I was reporting them to the attorney general office and the FBI and they hung up.

I told them that they have the wrong number and they say will remove my phone number. The next day yet again the calls from Missouri - citicards. I even called citicards and asked them to take off my phone number - lets see how long this continues. Very annoying. Can we report this someplace??

2007-02-24 13:26:43 UTC420

This number is from Citibank (a.k.a. citicards, universal card). If you are getting repeat calls from this number it means your account is past due. In other words, pay your credit card!

IT IS CITICARDS, AND CITIBANK PERSONAL LOANS...I HAVE BOTH, BUT ARE UP TO DATE. THEY HAVE BEEN CALLING ME LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO NEVER HAD MY NUMBER. JUST A MISTAKE. GOOD LUCK TO YA ALL...

2007-01-26 18:16:52 UTCBill

I was curious about this call and suspected it was a phishing scam. I called Citi directly and found that it was legitimate. We had only one call on January 26, 2007.

2007-01-22 18:21:53 UTCTrina P.

Finally spoke to someone... an automated voice asks for some guy. Does he want the unused minutes on his AT & T card. If he's there, please press 1, if not press 2. I pressed 2. The voice asked if he was at this number, I said no. They connected me to a person. It is Citibank Collections looking for this guy that used to have my phone number. They tried to get my name but I said they didn't need it, to take my number off their calling list and that I reported them for harrassment since they never leave a message and call all hours of the day and night. They said they don't leave a message because then the person they are trying to contact will never answer when they see their # pop up.... Anyway.. thought I would let you know! Hope it helps! They haven't called me anymore today.

2006-11-24 11:39:38 UTCSL

We get calls from these people every day, several times a day. They called 4 times between 8 and noon today. If you pick up, it's silent until you make a noise. Then this little automated voice comes up and asks you to push buttons if you are so and so. If you tell them they're calling you by mistake, they make you wait for 5 minutes and then connect you with a real person.

I screamed at some woman this morning and told her she better never call my house again, although I doubt it will do any good.

Automated call with specific name inserted on most recent call (08/24). Attempts to obtain credit card information. Hang up on this scam.

2006-08-23 14:27:43 UTCcarrie m

hey. turns out it was legit. if it happens again, i am still not going to give any information out. i'll still hang up and call citicards directly.

this campaign would be much more effective if the automated voice said to "call the number on the back of your card" instead of being creepy and asking the answerer to punch in numbers. that's so scammy. it still seems fake even though i know it's legit.

so yeah, folks. give citicards a call and ask them what's up.

2006-08-23 13:38:35 UTCcarrie m

this number has been calling very much over the past 3 days.
on monday 5/6 voicemails on my cell phone were blank, but one of them told me to call 1-800-298-6359 and enter a verification number. (it was an automated voice) then once i turned on the phone and answered their 7th call, another automated voice told me something we need to talk to you "about your citicards statement" and to enter the last 5 digits of something, i don't remember what.
then on tuesday, got 2 calls (i picked up and hung up right away.) one at 9 AM and one at 5:30 pm. looking forward to today. i've just reported them to the DNC registry, so we'll see if they stop.
