Who Called Us

I have NO idea who this could be. As reported in years back, the caller hangs up when I answer. Mine is a DO NOT CALL number, so I will be reporting it - for whatever good that does. However, to add to the mystery, I've had this phone number for over 15 years. Am not, nor every have been in debt. So I find this very odd. BUT, I have been receiving annoying calls to support an upcoming vote in the Atlanta, GA area. Could it be a political number?

Received numerous calls within 2 hours - after 2 "hello"s they hang up each time.

I don't know anyone in Holladay, UT, so I didn't pick up the phone, and the caller left no message.

"Figuredthemout" back in March 2009 had some good advice, though the law being cited is the FDCPA. The actual procedure he tried to describe is that of debt validation, under which collectors must keep quiet until proof of claim is provided to you. There is no stated time limit for response to your request, and many collectors are unable or unwilling to properly honor it.

they call 5-10 times per day- how can you stop them from the disruption?

Started getting phone calls from 801-943-0000, several times a day. Calling for a Dee Ann Kolb or Dee Ann Giordano. This person is not at my number. After all the stress of trying to get to talk to someone in person, to no avail, I finally found out the contact number is 1-800-357-2274. I finally talked to someone and got my number on the DNC list.

Started receiving these harassing phone calls recently. Sometimes I opt not to answer, other times I pick up to give "them" a piece of my mind with only silence on the other end. I'm not in debt and do not understand how a person can be harassed without any rebuttal.

This number keeps dialing my phone and it is annoying. On the caller id it shows Cottonwood, Utah and I have no idea who it is or what they want. I wish they would stop calling me.

After 6 calls from 801 943 0000, some with no message and some with a computer offering only one option, "press 1 if you are Jane Doe", I pressed 1 because, a) the computer only gives you 1 option, and b) in this case I know that Jane Doe is an elderly woman who many years ago had the number that I have now, and had her identity stolen. I reached a heavily accented woman called Maria, who said she was with "FIA". After I gave her a police report number she agreen to remove the phone number from the record. She couldn't or wouldn't explain why the computer calls so often without leaving a message, a callback number, or allowing you to opt out of the calls; she also couldn't or wouldn't express any regret over harassing me.

they keep calling me from that number and they never leave any massage but they thier automatic voice system ask if you are the person press 1 if not press 2.i think its fraud and they try to use your voice to steel your money from your bank account or credit card .i had abad experince

Started to receive blocked calls on 9/25/09. Used the *77 (block calls with out caller ID ) That worked for a day until they used Holladay UT and 801-943-0000 for called ID. The last four are bogus just to by pass the the *77 block. However you can use (and pay for) *60 which will block specific numbers. One person commented here that on Nov 26 2008 they left a call back number of 1 800 357 2274. I will give it a try.

A pre-recorded call that asks for someone who no longer lives at this number. Chose the option to let them know that I was not that person and that said person doesn't live at this number. Their automated response? "Thank you. We'll try again some other time." Ummmm...that's not going to do you much good. The person you want to reach doesn't live here and isn't going to live here any time soon!

They just hang up >:(

am getting as many as 5 or 6 calls a day from this #, except caller id shows 000-000-0000 Name Unavailable. The message that they leave is in Spanish, saying that they have "una message importante para" me. I am not of spanish nor mexican decent and do not speak the language, nor do I have any business in Mexico. And I do not use Verizon or Qwest...What the heck???

Receive calls from this number multiple times a day. I am not bothered by them anymore though. If they are calling your cell phone, go to your settings and choose a particular ringtone for this number. I chose "SI
LENT" When they call, I don't even know it. Let 'em call, no longer a bother. Good Luck!

They somehow got my cell phone (Verizon) whose automated customer service system says no wireless companies can block calls. I pressed 0 and spoke to a customer service person who blocked the number free for 90 days. Verizonwireless.com offers a call block services for the very inflated price of $4.95 a month.

Okay. Here's how to stop the calls. #1 Answer it. #2 Ask them to send a payment request in writing to your HOME address. After you do this the are NOT allowed by law to call you again until a specified time (I do not know the time frame). #3 DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR HOME ADDRESS. If it is a legitimate debt they will have your address on file. If not tell them all of your debts are legitimate and your creditors have your address on file. #4 TELL them not to call any more. Start keeping track every time they call. Document it. Then file a complaint or take it as far as you want it to. You may also tell them at the beginning of the call that you are going to record the call. Most of them will hang up. They MUST comply with your requests per the Fair Debt Collection Act. IF they do not, report them. Do this and they will stop. It has worked for me since my wife has a VERY common name we get theses calls all the time, but not for long. They are just looking up names and if they find a match sometimes not even a very close one, they call the number looking for payment. SOMEONE will eventually pay them out of fear for one reason or another. Don't be that person.

this number calls me repeatedly, on the hour, all day long. they leave messages in Spanish, with my name electronically inserted. they do not leave a call back number. the number listed on my caller ID is bogus and does not work.

I see below that this is a sleazy collection agency, and I will file a complaint and send them a cease and desist letter immedately. What a bunch of scumbags!!!!!

They've called 3 times in the last 3 hours today - they called a couple of times yesterday. I do not pick up, they listen to my outgoing message and then hang up.

Started calling a few days ago, up to 10 times a day. It's Encore Receivable Management, a collection agency. They've got hundreds of complaints against them and class action lawsuits for their tactics. Left a message for someone that doesn't live here and the message was worded that if you listened to the entire thing, you were verifying that you were the person they're calling for. You have to listen to an entire message in order to delete it with the voicemail service I have. I used my call block service and it seems to have worked. From what I can gather, they are an extremely disreputable company that has bought really old debt and have been harrassing people illegally.

I am getting 8-10 calls every day from Holladay, UT, and the number -801-943-0000. I have nothing going on with verizon or anybody else for that matter. I have a private line,unlisted phone number and thank heavens for caller I.D. I am getting sick and tired of the phone ringing all the time, every day!! No one has ever left a message. Now I am also getting calls from 000-000-0000,111-111-1111,555-555-5555,& 888-888-8888. The phone never stops ringing and there are no messages. I am just one more ring away from taking out the phone totally.

I have received several voice mail messages over several months. (CallerID: 801-943-000, Holladay, UT) Message is always the same stating that it was Asset Acceptance Capital Corporation calling for (gave name) in an attempt to collect a debt. The person they are looking for does not live here. Trying to find someone with some very old debt... I guess. Caller always states her name and a number to call her back on... I could care less. I delete each message and take no further action.

This was an automated voicemail from a collections agency and they left callback number 800-357-2274.

I do not subscribe to Verizon. Verizon is not even available in this area. I did not pick up the phone either time they have called

Caller ID displayed Holladay, UT. I do not have a Verizon landline or DSL. I was not home when they called but I wouldn't have answered anyway.

I have no services with Verizon and if Qwest has business with me they need to leave a message! Don't let the guard down just because you recognize Verizon. Sounds like unwelcome solicitation to me.

File a complaint on the national Do Not Call website, I just did. Very easy and only takes 2 minutes. Hopefully if enough of us do this, they will stop this company from calling.

They called asking for my husband, I asked who it was they said something about research, then I said he was not available and hung up. They now call every few hours and they hang up when I answer!! I can't get them to stop calling!

Let it go to voice mail. The caller left a message asking me to vote for a particular politician in my state in the upcoming election.

Have called several times a day for weeks. Asks for spouse then hang up when I say he isn't here. Finally was able to START the call with telling them to stop calling. They're STILL calling. On do not call list for some time already. Also, when call back # is disconnected. Won't identify themselves.

Saw number and Holladay, UT on caller ID. I have "Privacy Director" so I thought they let it kick in. I answered. The woman said, ("could I speak to Mrs...") then - hang up. Maybe Privacy Director kicked in and took the call. I have some trouble with that service. They called the other day. ID said Privacy Directory and I answered. I heard a voice say "Toyota". I would take that call so I said Hello. Call went dead. I guess I just don't know exactly how it works since I have never completed a call that went through that service. I have stopped getting calls from 062 area code - however that I used to get all the time. They say on the answering machine they want to offer me a better interest rate on my credit card (don't have one). I talked with someone in my family in Bangkok and they think that is a Thailand area code and told me it was probably a nigerian or thai scammer calling.

Got this call last night, left no message...all it says is Salt Lake City UT...don't have Verizon service...

No message left. If it is Verizon, we don't have that service. Any legitimate company would leave a message and identify itself on the ID. Can't these losers get honest jobs like the rest of us?

Has called twice this evening with no message. Once during dinner hour so I didnt pick up, once around 7:30pm. I dont answer calls from numbers I dont recognize. I dont have any service call in with Verizon. But it is true, you would think the company could identify themselves since they should certainly know more than the majority of people dont pick up a number they dont recognize... hmmmm

Scheduled an appointment the previous day w/ Verizon to fix DSL line. Got called twice from this number today, so I called customer service and confirmed they did try to reach me. I guess this is a Verizon number.

I had a service call into Verizon, as well. Maybe I'll pick it up if they call again today. I wish they'd ID as Verizon, though.

I received this call this morning on my cell phone, my house phone has not been working since this past Tuesday Verizon is expected to come to fix the problem. I'm glad that the comments mentioned Verizon--this eased my concern !

My CID showed a call from this number, which I figured was no good. A number ending in 0000? Holladay Ut was Id name. It is Verizon repair. Why can't they identify as such?

I don't answer any calls with unknown name and number. When I saw Holladay Ut, I did not know who it was so did not answer. The only reason I know it is Verizon, they left a message on my ans machine. Makes no sense not to Id yourself in the first place.

Lookup shows it's from QWEST CORPORATION, but I suspect that's just the long distance carrier.

People need to get a clue in this day and age that I'm not answering unknown callers and that includes city names!
