Who Called Us

Calls keep coming to my home at all hours from this number and when I answer they hang up??
I do hear a high pitched beep just before they hang up though. My phone line is connected
through my DSL Modem if that makes any difference.

It does not matter if your on the do not call list! Surveys, charities, and political, and people not selling you anything can call all they want get your facts straight or shut up!

When you get dead air is when the auto dialer is connecting to you and if you wait for a response someone will answer its not some conspiracy to find out when your home, its computer lag! If you don't know what your talking about you should not talk! The more times you open your mouth the more opportunities you have of putting your foot in it!

Western Wats is the largest survey company in the united states and all the surveys are confidential to both parties! Big companies, political groups and market research firms hire them to get important public views! Most of the employees are college students trying to make ends meet so if you care at all about other peoples lives and not just your own you will take the time to answer the 5-15 min. survey and help them and their family make a living, not waste their time and cost the pay raises! Being a human being is not too hard!

Received call yesterday...no message...unimportant obviously...probably some republican pollster idiot try to drum up votes for their pitiful candidates

They wanted to ask some questions and would not tell why they were asking them.

Identified themselves as a political survey organization. I had to laugh.. The caller apparently didn't realize he had gone to my voicemail. Kept saying 'Hello, hello' and finally hung up..

i just got a called from this number and i did not answer for i don't recognize it. they did not leave a voice mail.

On Do not Call List and so I don't understand why they are calling!

I got THREE calls today from this number and 4631. No one was there any of the three times. I am on the Do Not Call list. What's the point, if these people can get away with this?

Received a call at about 7.35 PM here in California 4/23/08. When I picked up the phone, no one answered. But I don't know anyone in Utah, so I'm reporting this just like all the others here. Apparently, it's just another of these fly-by-night surveys trying to pump you for information. I'm on the Do No Call List too, so I'm filing a complaint with them too.

I received a call yesterday 2/18 @ 7:50pm EST. I didn't answer, and they didn't leave a message.

I just received another call today 2/19 @ 5:07pm EST. I answered this one, and a woman said she was "Linda Sanders, calling on behalf of American Viewpoint, an independent research company..." (don't remember the exact wording). I asked her to please remove my number from their list. At first she seemed confused, then she said she would try. I aked what company she was calling from, and she stressed that she was calling on behalf of American Viewpoint, so I got the impression that the company she works for is different. I asked her for a company number that I could call to remove myself from their list, and she said she could do it for me.

They called 02-12-08 at 5:52 on my cell phone!!! I pay for that SH!T. Not cool, said hello twice and nobody responded. Decided to look up the # and this is what I found. TO what ever company owns this phone # STOP CALLING EVERYONE THEN HANGING UP... if its a survey say something you ignit bassstards.

I am on the Do Not Call List as well... These people call our office all the time and solocit s*h*i*t to us... It's sooo annoying... I'm willing to fork out $500 for someone to go postal on them!

They called me last night on my cell at 8pm. I pushed ignore then the same number sent me a text message of all things! It said PLEASE CALL. I would like to get their home numbers and call them when they are eating or watching TV with their family in the late evening!!!

Jerks. Another call that shows up as Unknown Name that when I answer, there is no one there. I filed a complaint at DoNotCall.gov as I am registered, and also emailed them after going to their westernwats.com website and went to the Opt Out. In my email I stated how rude it is to have a POORLY FUNCTIONING autocaller that does not work. I said that if I receive another call from them, i will contact my attorney.

They called on a Sunday evening during our family dinner. I could hear someone on the line, but they did not speak.

I am getting calls from this number almost everyday. When I pick up, no one answers ! I am in Virginia.

I got a call from this number. He said he was with Sun Trust Bank, asked me if I had applied for a loan or opened an account in their south location. I asked for the branch address and he started stuttering and said I don't know. I replied how can you not know the address if you work with them, he didn't know what to say and hanged up on me.

None of the comments noted from those who have spoken to "Judy" or pressed #2 to be removed from the call list have said if this request has been honored and if so, how soon. Or is speaking to Judy exposing your phone number to future problems? Would appreciate feedback. In the meantime, people should proceed to seek out the legal remedies already recommended or simply answer and hang up on them. Good luck with that election and don't bank with Sun Trust.

I hope that helps to clear up the mystery of who is cluttering up your phone's caller log. Yes it is very annoying that they block their outgoing caller-ID, but that's not the fault of the poor young people working as phonejockeys. Don't take your frustration out on the people who call, because they're already frustrated themselves. If they had any career prospects right now, then they wouldn't be slaving away on the phones for a pittance over minimum-wage. Most are students who couldn't give a darn about what survey they are carrying out, and this type of work makes them develop a pretty thick skin, pretty quickly. They develop what I call "personality callouses" so any foul language you might hurl at them just washes right off (and your rant will likely be recorded anyway, so don't be a jerk!)

On a sidenote to Western Wats: why don't you change your outgoing caller-ID to say "survey" instead of "unavailable"? If I see "unavailable" on an unknown incoming call, there's just Zero Chance that I'm going to pick up. But if I see "survey" then I get the option to decide whether I'm not too busy to answer a few questions. I'm betting that you only get a few "hits" per 1,000 placed calls. If your caller-ID said "survey" then I'd bet that you'll double or triple your number of "hits".

the western wats that shows up on this list is and independent survey company . the way that most of us get these phone calls is totally random I've been subject to more that my share ,and its been explained that a data base hits random numebrs and it bound to come up with a real phone number unfortunately thats how the whole thing works. I actually talked to the phone company and asked specifically about this and how they get the number . I myself am on a no call list but to a computer that doesn't mean anything I hope this might explain why you are receiving these type of calls hope it helps

Ive had at least 2 of these numbers come up on my caller id when I asked who they were. I was asked if this was a business they hung up the second time they wouldn't asnwer so I got irate and hung up

I was called by 801-623-4630 ON MY CELL PHONE. I have no idea where they got my cell phone number, but they have called twice, left no message and the last time I Tried to pick up and no one was there. If you call Western Wats at 801-373-7735 and push "2" you can be directed to someone who will then take your number off of their calling list. I found their number to call from their website.

They have called twice a day for the last week. I wish my foot fit through the phone.

They've started calling recently about twice a day. I never answer and they never leave a message. I'm in Greensboro, NC

I recieved a call a couple of minutes ago. Stupid me I answered it thinking it was some company selling something. Today 6/5/07 1900 hours. It caller ID said Provo Utah.

I received one call so far and it showed up on call ID as Provo Utah. After reading some of the other responses I see a few were from polling companies, and for those people on the Do Not call Registry as I am, this type of call is legal. Now if you keep getting hang up calls I would report them to my local Phone Company as they now become annoyance calls and are a Crime. I once received calls that were non stop and after doing so, a criminal investigation was the result, 2 people were charged(minors) and there Parents Phone was shut off. You need to write down these calls and also there may be a number that you dial after them that starts a phone company trace that the police use.
Also this latest call was on Memorial day at 7:36PM EST

I got a call from this number on Friday, May 25TH, 2007 at 4:43pm central time. I missed the call and there was no message left on my voicemail. I called the number back and the voicemail told me it was western wats and that you can reach them at westernwatts.com. They are supposively a survey/data research company. It's frustrating because I am on as many DO NOT CALL lists that I could find to sign up on. It's annoying getting these kind of calls to my mobile phone.

I let voice mail answer the call. Caller used my ex-boyfriend's name, saying "Tom, call me" then he hung up.

Got a call from this number at 3:30pm EST on 1/18/2007. No one on the other end when I answered!

sounded like a fax machine calling or a modem so I looked up the number and got this page. All that showed up on my caller ID was the phone number.

My cell had the phone number and Utah. I didn't answer. If I don't know the number I don't answer the phone!! Oh yeah... and if I were anyone on here I'd be hesitant to provide my phone number to this website. ;)

No info on why they called or for what reason

This is a political survey organization calling with questions about how you will vote in the election. Questions relate to both local and national preferences.

They called again last night. I answered, & much to my surprise, someone was there! A man asked to speak a male registered voter - did not want a female voter. I told him the "male voter" is not here. He then hung up. Just a bit ago, they called again. I did not answer, and again, no message left. Persistent little buggers, aren't they?!?!?
