How do I stop them from calling?
- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

It was an E-bay automated message
I have nothing to do with ebay - scam. The cell carrier is selling your cell number to marketers.
a recorded message from eBay explaining the new rates coming in July
They called my cell phone (weird). A woman called and didn't even know my name. Was talking about selling on ebay and boost my sales, talked about auction and fixed listing prices. (bunch of basic information that all users already knew.) Was polite and nice, but useless information. I don't know if she is trying to make me say certain words, but I kinda of questioned her on the phone. She quickly said thank you and hung up on me. Just don't share your information over the phone, if they are really ebay, they should already know about you.
eBay knows my real name, the caller did not....SCAM !
It was a valid business call from eBay. It was a recorded message that I had to take action on.
I did recently have dealings with ebay that went poorly. Seller kept harassing me for a negative review that he deserved. The caller id/ call blocking app on my smart phone said it was a spam call and forwarded it to voicemail, which was not left. If it is ebay, this last purchase will my final one if they want to keep harassing me over a bad rating!
Woman left message with my user id and informed me about changes to EBay shipping fees and that some of my listings would need to be changes if applicable. that was all.
It was eBay calling to explain new listing rules and requirements. I did not answer and they left a detailed message.I does sound very much like a 'scripted' call center that was hired to do this sort of thing for companies willing to pay for their services.
PROBABLY EBAY BUT MY ACCOUNT IS SUSPENDED SO I DID NOT ANSWER CAUSE I DIDNT KNOW THE NUMBER
This is someone trying to scam ebay users.
Have no enough cash to buy a car? You should not worry, just because that's available to receive the loans to solve such problems. Thus get a sba loan to buy everything you need.
I missed the call, but they left a message. It was e-Bay talking about their new policies coming up.
Ebay - a buyer has a problem and they are calling to alert me of the matter and to login and resolve it.
Ebay .. gave me money and now they want it back!.. fu
eBay will call you for certain reasons. Some are dealing with billing, trust and safety issues and other times it is a promotional or information type call. You can go into your eBay preferences and opt out of receiving these types of calls. The eBay User agreement requires that you have a valid phone number on file so that we may contact you in matters that are associated with non-sales type issues.
Of course you should always use common sense when talking with anyone on the phone. eBay employees will NEVER ask for your password or credit card information in an email or in a phone call - EVER. PERIOD. We already can see your account and do not ever need that information to help you. We offer a variety of helpful tips and services that can help you grow your business should you chose to hear our advice.
This number is real. Just call it back and you'll hear our message. Call any number in the range and you'll actually reach a live rep sometimes... if you get lucky, you might just get me! =]
I am a 10 year eBay employee. All eBay employees in the (801) area code of Salt Lake City have numbers ranging from 545-1801 to 545-2700.
When an employee calls outbound the system masks their direct extension behind the (801) 545-1800 number. If you call (801) 545-1888, you'll get a company number.
It's real people, calm down...
Got a call from this number on Jan. 5th, 2010 at around 2 p.m. Caller I.D. shows this from Ebay Inc. I don't believe the call was really from them.
Yep, it was eBay customer service; just a courtesy call
It really was eBay customer service and they were calling for a good reason and were very polite and courteous. Feel free to return their call on the number they leave on your voicemail.
Beautiful site,
It's eBay's customer service
Karina from ebay called to tell me about these new and exciting changes forthcomin on 6/15, and that I might have to make some adjustments to my selling preferences. Oh boy, more changes at ebay.
ebay called again today. changed my preferences so i do not get any more of these nuisance calls.
Ebay called to offer a special promotional listing fee for seller's who had a high DSR ranking.
They left me a voicemail trying to encourage me to sell Globally with eBay.
They say they are from Ebay...but who knows.
received on 11/11/2008 at 10:23am...Caller left message promoting ebay and seller tools.
This a an eBay marketing/customer relations call center, most calls from this number are to eBay members who are "Power Sellers," alerting them to special promotions and service upgrade offers.
Left no message, no caller ID.
Called my cell phone
none left-they called at app 6:oo am-west coast time-no message-
other than my caller ID brought up"Ebay Inc."
Not Fraud, they leave you a voicemail with this link to get more information: pages.ebay.com telling you how you can enhance your sales through global trade. Didn't ask me to call them back, just go to that ebay-related website.
Just ignore the call. Nothing to worry about.
Caller was from eBay and wanted to "encourage" me to sell globally.
Called, never left message. No caller id info displayed.
Missed Call. But 801-545-1800 left a Message. About "How to" Increase sales on ebay. 100% Scam! Must Report!
i got this today - it was a man - hard to understand giving advice on how to ship faster which scared me becuase we had something on ebay and sold and shipped it out and now i wondered if they people complained on the shipping time. but now i know it was a spam call. glad this site is here - i changed my preferences on ebay to not want calls at home. weird thing is - i never put my phone# on the preferences page so it is scary that becuase they have a cc they have EVERYTHING.
Same thing Here she says she is ebay.
Ebay called (live person) to say something about a training online under announcements.
Received a call today from this number...let it go to voicemail and the message they left was that this is Ebay calling UserID (was correct) about changes in the contribution options. Apparently there is a workshop or call-in posted on Ebay for this. I think it is legit but I would be very careful about giving out any info.
Lady identified herself as being from EBAY. Said she wanted to talk to me about the new changes to the feedback ratings.

FRAUD ALERT! BEWARE!
This is a telephone number used for supposed eBay marketing calls which DO NOT originate from eBay! I have a friend who works at eBay who has told me that they NEVER make marketing calls. Correspondence is purely online through eBay.com.
The voicemail left on my cell phone went like this:
"Hi, my name is ... and I'm calling in reference to [your eBay User id here]. I just wanted to let you know that eBay is making changes to it's trading assistant program. You must create new profile by February 11, 2008 in order to remain in the directory. Please go to: ebaytradingassistant.com. Thank you for using eBay."
A legitimate eBay web page should have ebay.com/ in the web address. The address provided above does not originate from eBay. If you do a simple Google search for "eBay trading assistant", this URL does not appear as one of the top sites!
You can also double check by logging into your eBay account, searching for "trading assistant" and making a note of the URL from there.
FYI there are eBay offices in the Salt Lake Area, Sandy City to be exact. If they are trying to scam you... I dunno. But I have seen their building right off of Interstate 15 at the south end of the SL Valley. It happens to say eBay right on it in big neon signage. Hmm.
I received the same phone call from 801-545-1800 saying that it was eBay. They left me a voice message saying that since I haven't listed anything lately to please go onto eBay and resubmit a new username. I contacted eBay about this. they said that they NEVER call anyone at anytime. All of their support is thru email or online support. They told me to report it to the FCC b/c it sounds like someone is trying to get my information. Report it to eBay and to the FCC, PLEASE!!!!!
EBAY message
Spam call from Ebay.
My wife took a call from someone who IDed themselves as being from eBay. They told her I would know what it was about. This follows a trick eMail which I received through the eBay system. Maybe the two incidents are related. I don't think anyone should call the number, unless maybe it would be the law!!
Received a call from this number. They stated they were from ebay, however ebay did not show up on the caller id. It showed up as \"unknown\".
I just got a call from this number. It's eBay: sitelead.com
Does not leave message, sometimes hangs up
Have been receiving calls almost daily from Iowa 515-242-0292, Utah 801-545-1800, if I don't recognize a number I don't answer it and it goes to voicemail. Whomever this is won't leave a message.
Called about %33 of listing fees and ebay store holiday stuff. Sounded official on voicemail, mentioned my user ID however not my first or last name which I would expect to verify they are real. didn't ask for any info or for me to do anything.
A lady told me that someone used my eBay ID to sell an item on eBay.
No message left. If this was a valid call from eBay then they would have left a message.
This was eBay calling to invite me to open an eBay store. I guess they had my number because I am already an eBay Seller.
Woman called stating she was from ebay and wanted to tell me about opening an ebay store.
Was an indian lady doing a telemarketing call for EBAY... wanted me to upgrade my ebay store to premium level.
ebay - best seller practices message from a live person
it was ebay trying to get you to open an ebay store
It IS Ebay. When your account gets the warning that you need to entire a new 4 digit code, this is the number that calls you to give you the new code to enter in. I have received calls from them many times, and i assure you it IS 100% Ebay. If you need proof i can provide that also.
got a call from this number again!!! And a woman says she's rebecca and blah blah blah...can someone do something about this?
I get calls from eBay once a month. However, this time the man with a New Dehli Indian accent asked my name. I simply stated, "this is he". He then proceded to read a bunch of crap that everyone already knows. He then asked how many employees I had and if I want long term customers. I replied "doesn't everyone". He kept trying to get me to say "Yes". I finally hung up. This call was a scam. They want to cut and paste your words to answer questions they will make up later. I later got an email from Chinas development team. A TRUE SCAM.
Woman called about E bay selling . Ark accent . TN .. No name . Knew my E-mail address but never used name or seller name . Told her I thought it was a scam !!

Some ebay guy trying to give me a reach around. The Turd Burglar wanted to see my poppycock he said we could engage in a circle jerk or something to that nature
this is not ebay...don't think it's ebay. in my preferences it doesn't say anywhere to call...everything is e-mailed for me...do not be fooled...seriously! it's a scam, these people just want your money, BE VERY CAREFUL!!! Take immediate action after receiving the phone call!!!
I got a call, I ran out of the bathroom to get it, ahem, it was ebay a real person, telling me about best selling practices. They had to call me on my cell for this? LOL Anyway I loged on and opted out of telephone under newsletters etc. screw that! Ebay gets enough of my time.. LOL
Got a phone call from this number, I picked up and noone talked.
This is the second time this has happened.
Although several people claim this number is ebay, I ran across several pages with a Google search that claim this caller is part of a scam to get user information. Apparently the caller asks for passwords and other information, which eBay says they never do. NEVER GIVE OUT SENSITIVE INFORMATION OVER THE PHONE!!!
This was on my answering machine when I got home. A woman said she was calking on behalf of Ebay for user ID called IDC or soemthing like that. She hung up once she realized she was talking to a machine.

Ebay Inc called while I was at work, talked to my husband..he said they wanted to talk to me about selling something..and would send me an email.
Someone identifying themselves as Ebay called. I told them they have the wrong number. I don't trust anyone calling about Ebay given the number of scams going on.
