- Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
- If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
- Block them with a call blocker:
Uniden DECT1288 blocks up to 20 numbers, plus Private and Unknown, with the reject tone, without ringing the phone.
Panasonic KX-TG106 blocks up to 30 numbers, plus all unidentified callers, with a busy tone, after the phone rings once.
JF Teck Caller ID with Ring Controller blocks up to 70 numbers, and can be set to always allow up to 100 to ring through.

Wow did I just go thru an ordeal! After getting the constant calls from the (503) 403-2674 number, I called it and did what it said. Call 1(800)988-8019. So I called. In our day and age the first thing they ask for is your credit card number. This is how WF identifies us, and it's kinda weird and scary. So I gave it to them, they read me a bunch of jargon about how my account was overdue. I didn't believe them, cause I never received my paper bill over the holidays. I demanded to speak to a manager and they hung up! I call back and get a similar sounding Asian girl, and I immediately ask where she is. Where are you? "Manila." What like the Philippines? "Yes." I said, thank you I think I'm fuct, and hung up. I've had my id stolen 2 times, and by this point I'm sure I've just sold my soul to some Filipino scam. So I immediately call the 800 number on my Wells Fargo card. I get this guy who sees the same overdraft fees, he explains that the (503) numbers that have called me 5 times a day are from the office next to his. A new "call out" service. My account is overdue $15 so I'm throughly pissed at this moment. I paid the account and considered closing my WF savings, checking and CC services. Be sure to get on their "NO CALL" list!!!! I will pay-off and close my WF CC tomorrow. :(
Tupper white pages doesn't have everything bro, not every number will be available via reverse lookup. The number belongs to Wells Fargo Bank Credit Cards like many others have stated before you...do your research
I'm getting 4 to 8 calls a day for the last month or two from Wells Fargo - on my cell phone, using various different numbers. A message was left maybe once. Usually in the morning before 9 or a bit after 5. Obviously automatic calls. If I pick up but don't say anything, the system doesn't connect to a person. If I speak, there's a delay and pretty soon a person comes on. I usually ask "who's calling", usually get only a first name (VERY dis-ingenuous), though a couple times they have said wells Fargo. They keep trying different numbers, this is the latest for the first time today. One call a week would be entirely sufficient should they wish just to do a diligent job trying to reach me. 6 calls a day is just harassment. I add each new number to a my directory with a null ring tone to minimize the impact. They call my home and business phone too.
This number belongs to Wells Fargo Bank (credit cards)
Got the same call as many of you did. Asked for my daughter. Then they gave me this number to call. I told her as you all should do that we would check with out local bank. I put the number in reverse look-up in the white pages...their response...0 results for that number. Always contact your local bank only!
Automated message for an EX-employee's spouse; bankcard services with an important message for Jane Doe, press xx if wrong number; gave 300-988-8019 to have number removed from their system. Sounds like a collection agency.
If anyone is throughly concerned about a telephone number that they are associated with in some way, use the number that you regularly use or the one listed on the back of your card or bank statement. The 800-988-8019 number links all of the corporate offices that house collection depts into one so you may get an agent from oregon, california, iowa, texas or relitivly anywhere. The numbers generally show as Private on a caller id. When you call in it is true, Wells Fargo doesnt know who you are and like any person wants you to identify yourself. Remember solutions to problems arent found by demands and argueing. The best way for you to find out what you want to know and have change made is to compromise and listen.
People keep calling my business 800 number thinking I'm Wells Fargo at 1-800-988-9089 and after reading this post I understand why NOW because people are saying the number is rattled off so fast that they barely can remember it and it's not repeated so it's no wonder people keep calling me thinking my number is wells fargo which is really annoying but I'm annoyed at Wells Fargo and not the people who call because I realize it's not their fault. I called Wells Fargo and all they could tell me was that people are writing it down wrong - they never told me it was this hideous automated message that rattles off the number so fast nobody could get it right. I'm going to have to change my number because I keep having to pay for all these wells fargo calls to my 800 number since I have to pay for incoming calls - bummer. anyway in the meantime, if anyone gets these annoying calls DON"T call me - I am NOT Wells Fargo! I even called some of the people back who left their number to tell them but I can't call everyone back as it's pretty time consuming!!! Thanks and good luck.
Doug, it's not a scam, do more research before making bold claims! The 8009888019 number is the collections number for repayment back to your credit card that was either missed or its not being made. If you don't have a credit card then it may be a wrong number, or in your case, it was someone you know. The reason you got the 503 number is that they're located in Beaverton, Oregon, Portland, Oregon being where there Executive Office is located, and that's the area code for that location, they also have another center in West Des Moines, Iowa, so you might get a 515 area code. Your claims of that's not how a "real bank call center works" are false and your statement is asinine, because you've probably never worked at a "real bank call center" before, so to say something like that to begin with is stupid. Another thing, the person you spoke with is correct in saying that you called them, because YOU DID CALL THEM when calling back. The information isn't going to magically appear to them when you call in, they need to know who they're talking too so of course they're going to ask for the account number.
This is so obviously a scam! DO NOT EVER give personal information to someone who CALLS YOU. Calling them back and they say they are Wells Fargo is the same thing as yelling your name and account number in a crowded shopping mall!
I got a call from 503-403-2665 and they asked for someone I know but has never lived here. They've called about 10 times this week. I said she was in the shower and they gave me 800-988-8019 to call back and said it was a "personal banking matter". I called there and someone says "wells Fargo, may I have your account # please". I said no, please let me speak to your supervisor. That baffled them (not how it would work with real bank callcenter). I got transferred to someone and got into a fun verbal confrontation. I won't go into details but I told them that I didn't want to give away my information without knowing who they are "we're wells fargo, you called us". I asked for their address, she said "Portland OR", I asked for the ADDRESS and she said she needed my name and account number before she could give it out. I asked for her name "Rose", Rose-what? She pretended not to hear it... Anyway, this went on and on - I was really surprised they didn't hang up. Oh - I asked her for the Wells Fargo trading symbol and she said she couldn't give away any more information without knowing who I am! Oh it was fun!
I'm going to call Wells Fargo with this information but I suspect they'll say they can't do anything about it.
Guess Congress is too wrapped up in money issues to save us from the predators!
We've gotten repeated automated calls from "Wells Fargo Card Services" that show no caller ID. The automated message starts off asking me to "press 1 if Juan Lopez is available" and after descending just a bit into the menu selections gives me a chance to "press 5 if you are NOT Juan Lopez". At which point it tells ME to call WFCS back at some 800 number to tell them that my number is not the right Juan.
Of course, the 800 number rattles off too fast to write down, is not repeated, and then the automatron hangs up. After a few calls, we finally got most of the # written down (800-988-x019), and a google search of the first 6 digits along with "Wells Fargo Card Services" got me to this page.
Calling 800-988-8019 back, and pressing "0" for the account number got me to a polite employee named Lydia who did a reverse search of my phone number in their database, gave me the same name they've been asking for, and promised to remove our phone # from their records. Data entry error? Intentional wrong # from Juan? Who knows.
I don't like their automated message, but I guess it's just the nature of the game for collections departments to be somewhat rude. Probably gets the job done.
I get a least 5 call a day...they always say to call this number. I dont even have a well fargo account...they are calling for some lady. It just says that if this isnt the person to call this number. Just want to know if the number is not a long distance one so Im not getting charged a bundle for calling some trick long distance line...any help?
Receive 3-4 calls a week. Because it shows on caller ID as "Private" I don't answer. Message left says that I need to call Wells Fargo Card Services. When I call the number, I get an automated message asking for my account number.
Caller asked for another member of our household.
I asked "Who is this?" He said "Wells Fargo Bank".
He wouldn't give any other informtion.
Just gave me the number 800-988-8019 to have them call.
I asked where that number was located, he said Oregon.
I called 503-403-2665. Another man answered. Said that it was Wells Fargo. I asked where were they located. He said Iowa. I said that I received a call from Oregon.

They left message to call 866-850-3078. It IS a collection company (Rapid Response Systems?? Could not understand the woman on the phone!)for bank charge offs (i.e. checking accoutns). This was refering to Woodforest National Bank. The debt has been PAID for a couple years, but keep bouncing the debt trying to get more!!!!!
This IS Wells Fargo Bank. I recently had a problem with my account, and I quote directly from online.wellsfargo.com: "Your account is over the credit limit. The overlimit amount is due now. Make this payment today or call us at 1-800-988-8019."
This is likely the official Wells Fargo collections number. That's why they call so frequently.
Ive been receiving calls shortly before Christmas. It ranges from 2-8 calls a day. They even called on Christmas eve and Christmas. They will call from around 9:15 AM to 10 PM.(every day!) They call Sunday mornings and any other time you wouldnt even think about getting a phone call! Who ever this is is f'n crazy!! If by some small chance this is WellsFargo...very unprofessional!
Started calling at 7 am. Its almost 2 now, and they've called at least six times.
I received two calls from this number on my work cell phone on 1-3-2007 at 9:02 AM & 3:36 PM. I did not answer as I didn't reconize the number and no voice mail messages were left. By the way my work cell is for the Nebraska State Probation District # 6 Probation office in Lancaster County, Nebraska.
S: Receive 4/5 calls per week in Nov/Dec about Wells Fargo account. Want account number over the phone to check my account. Called back number on caller ID and get Wells Fargo recording asking for account number.
Got called Dec. 9th at 10:24. I didn't answer the call. It's obviously a scam of some sort. Why can't some people just get a normal 9 to 5 regular job?
Called 20:30 on Tues, Dec. 6. Returned the call, got a supposed Wells Fargo automated answering system. Asked me to enter my account number. Hah. Yeah right.
Called 6:15PM and 7:15PM on Sunday night
Called 9PM on Thanksgiving
