Who Called Us

I'm on the do not call list and shouldn't be getting any unknown calls political or otherwise.

This number has been calling me 4-6 times a day for the last week. I believe it is most likely a political fundraiser of some sort. I called the number back and got a recorded message stating it is the "Share Group" and they are calling me on behalf of a non profit I have supported in the past.

The next time they call, I think I will blow whistle in their ear!!! (Is that legal?) It'll make me feel better, anyway!

What can one do?

The Share Group (telemarketing firm for 'non-profit' type organizations) keeps calling repeatedly, sometimes several times a day. The insidious nature of it is that an automated machine makes the call, not a person! And if you don't answer, they leave a lengthy message on your phone. How strange that when you call it, the first thing they quite eagerly say is that they'll take you off their calling list by leaving your full name and 10 digit phone number. That sounds suspicious to me, more like a verification of your number. If they were really legitimate, they would offer up front the name of the agency they're calling on behalf of.

I am going to first try what someone else suggested--sending an e-mail to them about removing my number. If that doesn't work, then I'll have to resort to calling them and trying to find out who they are calling on behalf of. And once I figure that out, the instigator is going to get a mouthful of angst.

It's this kind of intrusion that serves no purpose but to create aggravation. I doubt that many people actually make a contribution or renew a membership (and if anyone does, I'll bet their number goes onto Share Group's "live one" list, so you'll get called "on behalf of" many more organizations). The same thing goes for spam. It's so damned cheap to do, that an actual sale easily covers the cost of several thousand bursts of sending spam. Something has to be done about this horrible problem.

It is Share Group - if you call them back you can be put on their do not call list. Hope it works; I left them a message today to stop calling. They have been calling at least once a day every day.

When these people call, ask them what organization they are calling for, as they are usually working for some fundraising campaign. Then let them know that you will never again contribute money to that particular organization. If enough people do this, it will get back to the people that hire these monsters in the first place.

On of over a dozen callers over the last week - gee do you think the primaries have any thing to do with it????

I get 2-3 calls a day from these folks. Tonight, I got a computer generated message that said, "Someone wants to speak to you. Please hold." Then I was put on hold for a sec, but when they answered the line, no one would speak to me even though I could hear people talking in the background.

HOW DO I GET THESE FOLKS TO STOP CALLING ME? THEY RING AND HANG UP

caller ID said "Toll Free Call". Did not answer; voice mail picked up. There was a pause and then a recorded message saying that "all operators were busy ...wait and someone will be with you shortly". A woman soon came on the line and asked for my wife's given first name (which she never uses). Receiving no reply the woman hung up.

Was getting numerous call every day for the past month or so. I finally called the number back today and got a recorded message saying that they are a share group for not-profit organizations, followed by an opportunity to have your number placed on their DO NOT CALL list... or to make a complaint. Hope it works and hope this note is helpful.

A telemarketer representing Share Group and purportedly calling on behalf of ACLU.

These assholes call every day, numerous times a day. They're drumming up money for Planned Parenthood. Told them never to call back. Guess what - they called back! Over and over again they call - EVERY DAY!

Getting really sick of this SH*T!! What a pain in the ass. They have called 2 times with in a half hour. Nobody there when answered. Have told them before not to call here, but they cannot understand what that means.....DUMBASSES!!

'operater recording message about "hanging up if", then someone picked up and said 'Hello, I am calling because you have supported us in the past", then a noisey background, then dead line. I don't support anyone thru my WORK number so the are either phishing or bought a bad phone list.

This is "Share Group", and they work on contract for non-profit groups. They will stop calling if asked, then call a few weeks later for another group. I find out who they're working for, then email that group and tell them I will never support them again. maybe it'll work after a while...

This company does fundraising for nonprofit organizations and political groups.

I called their number, and got a message saying they only contact people who have donated money to one or more of their clients. The message said to leave a full name and phone number, and they'll take your number off of their call list once they ascertain on whose behalf they called.

Says he's with SHARE, calling for John Edwards campaign, says they have LOCKED UP both Iowas and New Hampshire, wanted me to sign up to make monthly donations by bank draft. He babbled for 3+ minutes without letting me get in a word edgewise, so I took my dog for a walk. When I returned, the caller was gone.

How long have you worked at a call center, Rich Johnson? I have been receiving calls from this number forever, am looking at legal options.

These types of calls should be illegal. They call me at least five times a day and I am on the Do Not Call list.

They've been calling 24/7 for about a year, clogging up my answering machine & there's not enough space left for real callers. Often, it's Sunday mornings every 15 minutes. How can I stop them?

Ladies and gentlemen, as has been pointed out a couple of times here, Share Group is hired by an organization you belong to, who has hired them to renew your membership, or get you to make a donation.

The actual calling is done automatically by Share Group's computer, and then plugged into whichever of their operators are free. available, and that's why you're getting numerous calls.

I suggest you answer the call the next time, find out on what organization's behalf their calling, and then call that organization and tell them that if this is how they expect to get money from you, they're sadly mistaken.

Tell them that email solicitations are fine, but that future calls from Group Share will only cause cancellation of your membership to their organization, and severance of future donations.

They called 12 times in two weeks, no one there. Finally someone was there so I yelled at them and told them never to call again. They called again two hours later.

The phone rings and when I answer no one responds. Its so annoying and it has has been happening for some time now. I tried to call the number back and it rings and rings...

They call every day and don't leave a message. I called the number back [800-956-0076] and they claim to be the "Share Group" calling on behalf of a non-profit agency and not subject to the do not call list. They have ignored my requests to stop calling.

About six calls in the past several days; only rings once.

I called the 617 number and requested 1: the removal of my number from the call list and 2: their source for my number.
I then called the source and explained that to which we have all been subjected, (noting that not all calls were on their behalf.) That organization's representative was most helpful and assured me she would investigate the problem with Share Group. You folks might find the same satisfaction, should you choose to pursue the matter. Good Luck!

They seem to hang up as soon as I pick up. If you call them they do not answer. I am on the do not call list They have called at least 3 times in the past two days.

they called to catch me up on the activities of an organization i support. they were very nice and i think you should give these folks a break since they have a difficult job dealing with many rude people. it's not their fault you don't answer your fucking phone!

Calls every morning around 9:15 to 9:30 and doesn't leave a message. Quite annoying!!!!

I have been getting calls from this Share Group all day and all night for months now. It wakes up my baby and its driving me crazy. Does anyone have any idea how to stop them from doing this since they are not subject to the do not call list?

Today, July 5th, I received 3 calls from this number at 6:31 PM, 7:21 PM, and 8:41 PM. I did not pick up; no message left. If, in fact, this is an organization that fundraises or something for non-profits, i must wonder why the non-profits are allowing this to happen.. or if they are even aware of the tactics used.

Phone rings and stops after the third ring..just before my voice mail would pick up. This is the fourth call today (and it's only 1PM).. 3 from 877 696 2722 and one, so far, from 800 956 0076.
I think it is true that when you call back to tell them to stop, they mark your phone number as a Live One.

800-956-0076 called me 3 times today in it is 12:24PM Monday July 2, 2007. Last week I was called a total of 8 times. Each time I have not been home, God help the person on the other end when they call and I am home to pick up the phone.

I am a registered Republican and they still keep calling me. One person stated I had to give to Clinton or I would be sent to fight in the war.

I returned the call and the message was that they represent nonprofits. I asked them to stop calling - they have been calling several times a day. We'll see!

If anyone has received these calls on a wireless device, report them to the FCC. It is illegal for telemarketers to call wireless devices. You can file an FCC complaint online at esupport.fcc.gov
If enough people report them, they will be fined and shut down.

I missed the call. No message. I called back several times because i thought it was a telemarketer and i like to give them grief.

I am getting calls from this number repeatedly throughout the day. Today 8 calls came in as last as 10 PM. The ID I get is just the phone number and when I dialed back to see who was calling, the phone just rang.

They keep calling and calling. It's the Share Group. I called them two weeks ago and asked to be taken off their list, the receptionist said she would. Uh, they're calling again. This all stems from a phone number given when I'd made donations to various groups in the past. I'll donate in the future, but NEVER give my real number. Ever.

I sent them the following e-mail. Hopefully this will stop them:

Please add (213) 268-2258, my mobile phone number, to your do-not-call list immediately. I refuse to answer solicitation phone calls and am sick of getting dozens of them with no message left.

I have been getting phone calls and text messages from this 800 number for the past 2 weeks. At least 2 or 3 times a day. They hang up after 3 rings then leave a text message that costs me money. They claim to be exempt from caller harassment laws by virtue of their political affiliation? Who do we complain to to stop these idiots?

Get multiple calls a day from this "Toll Free" number. This is nothing short of phone spam. It is sad that "progressive" organizations have to resort to spam to keep their movement going.

I receive calls from this number daily. Finally called back and left a message to stop calling me 3 days ago. They didn't stop and are still calling me daily. Today, I actually picked up the call (this is on my cell) and there was no one on the other end.

I talked to them and said they call everyday and no one is on the line and if they can;t talk to me, I won't talk to them. I also asked them to stop calling me or I would report them.

It is WBEZ Chicago Public Radio. They call when you don't respond to their mailings wanting donations!
They won't give up! Drives us crazy!! My wife tells them to stop calling, but because I am the one who has contributed before, they have to hear it from me. I am not donating any more!! I just want them to stop harrassing us!

Sounds like its a call center doing work for multiple organizations. Mine was for my local Public Radio station, asking me to renew. I asked him where he was, and he said he's in Phoenix.

Called @ 2030 on 03/12/07. Normally when I'd hit Answer (it was my cell) and not say anything, they'd stay on the line about 15 seconds. This time I hit Answer and repeatedly played a .WAV file I have of the beeping you'd hear if you called a disconnected number, and the call ended after 4 seconds.

Just realized I commented about this number back in August 2006 - and they are STILL making phone calls.

The Share Group--aggressive political marketing--told them to stop; just kept calling--seems once you tell them to stop calling, they add your number to their database and start calling.

Called 1/11/07 7:47PM. Did not leave message. Have called me several times. I left message for them to stop. I'm fed up with being bothered by them, and also having to pay for their calls to my cell phone. There was no called ID indication as to whom they were.

We've been getting one or more calls every day. I talked to the caller once. It's fund raising for NARAL, a legitimate organization. I called NARAL to ask if the call was authorized by them. I left a message and have received no response.

Multiple calls. One message that was someone speaking in a foreign language ? and another that was just background noise. calling at least once a day.
