Who Called Us

They let the phone ring until the answering machine picks up and then they hang up. Sometimes they call several times a day.

I called them back - The Smith Company. They telemarket for magazines, fund raisers, et al. I requested my number be removed - they politely responded it would be off in about 2 days. 'Should have called them LONG ago.

Soliciting contributions for the so-called "Non profits." Yeah, right. I agree with "Go Away:" just block this number and be done with these shameless, clandestine, money-hungry irritants.

3/10/11 1:12pm: answered but no one there. Called number back "Smith Company". They call on behalf of magazines and fund raisers. Will remove me from their list.

I answered (so they would be charged for the call) but didn't say anything. After long pause a female asked for me by name. I never spoke and hung up.

These people have been calling me for months; everyday and sometimes twice in a day.

Caller left no message. Called # back and got recording that it was the " Smith Company " and to leave my number and it will be removed from their calling list. We'll see!

They call several times a day and never leave a message. This has been going on for weeks and I suspect they are calling on behalf of a magazine we aren't planning to renew (it is on the list a previous poster shared below). I guess writing "Cancel/Do not renew" instructions on invoices mean nothing these days.

Calls from 1-800-895-0900 often daily close to 9pm, filed complaint with Donotcall registry.

Asked for me. I said I'm not in. The delcined to leave a message.

Will not answer any unknown number no matter how many times they call. We are on the DNC list.

Called & left no message. This is a Spam.

They will not go away. If you can get me an address, I can stop it.

They have called several times. I let the answering machine handle the call and they leave a message asking for me by name. Called the 800 number and a person answered saying it was "Smith Company"

They have been calling daily for months! I never answer the phone. I don't want to encourage this type of intrusion. It doesn't seem to make any difference. Do not call registry is useless.

Went to voicemail & no message left.

I answered & noone said anything.

This number showed up when a friend called using their AT&T prepaid calling card. They said they didn't hear my answering machine, which did activate but no one answered (I was watching it to filter the call). They must have been cut off when the answer machine came on.

This isn't any mystery it's a scam! Don't answer or give any info as these are just "phishing" expidtions looking for another sucker

As usual, the phone rings and I let the machine picks up. No message is left AGAIN. I never answer 800 numbers. I am on the do not call list but that doesn't seem to stop them. I could do like my late father did and cuss them out or yell at them but I choose to report them. Has anyone else gone to the Do not call site and reported them?

They are persistent. I have caller id and let the machine pick up. The caller asked for me by name and then hung up. Lately, I've been picking before the machine picks up and let the caller listen to background noise. I'm usually cooking dinner, watching tv or washing dishes. Just trying to give them a taste of their own medicine.

This number has been calling repeatedly for several months now, sometimes several times a day. Have been on the DNC since it's inception, and stopped answering any unknown numbers when they all started to claim they didn't know, or were exempt. Even if they are just doing a survey, the law requires them to show a company name associated with the number, NOT "Unavailable" or "Out of Area".

If they can't follow the law, I don't answer the phone. UNAVAILABLE = DO NOT ANSWER

Seems yet another one of these MYSTERY callers who won't leave a message. Hang up when I do answer. And if I call the number back, "the number you have dialed has been disconnected" message is heard! -- I am on the DO NOT CALL list, as I'm sure many on this posting are as well. -- What gives? -- I'm growing tired of this issue as is my family, and is why I googled the number and found this posting. At least I see we're sadly not alone.

We filter all calls through answering machine, don't have Caller ID, do have unlimited *69 and use it to find out who has called when they don't leave a message. Someone from this number is calling several times a day and hangs up on the answering machine every time.

this is the smith company, website is thesmithco.com ... they are a telemarketing firm for anything...read the site...and they are out to get info from you for their clients, using severe tactics...which is why they hang up on answering machines...

Spoke with the person... Claimed to be from some Diabetes Association. Had my correct name, but then claimed to have an incorrect P. O. Box when I explained that I had not previously subscribed to anything related to Diabetes. Hurried off the phone and promised to make note that the info was incorrect.

Calls at least 2 times a day; doesn't leave message. When I call back, all I get is the name of the company and the voice mail.

I just let these ring; they hang up when the answering machine comes on.

just got this morning. was actually on the phone with ANOTHER nuisance caller, scholastic books, asking them to remove me from their list. suddenly i am on some kind of list to get calls even though i am registered on donotcall

They called 6/27 & 7/23/07.
I do not pick up "800/888" #'s, but called them later; answering message said "You have reached the Smith Company & to leave a message". No indication of what kind of company they are.

Called # back and a recording stated that I'd called "The Smith Company's" voicemail box and asked me to leave a message. No other info given.

Male with rought voice wanting to know if I was interested in a subscription; he did not mention which magazine. Asked for me by last name... I never confirmed and requested he put me on their Do Not Call List.
