Called my Sprint cell on 10/21/2008 at 2:45pm and did not leave a message. If Sprint calls my phone, it appears as *200 Sprint Cust Svc or similar, NOT an 800 number. Don't give these people any info at all, and report them at the FTC website. Go to ftc.gov to file a complaint.

Just got this call...almost "paid my bill" by inputting credit card #. Then thought I would be more comfortable talking to a real person. Called Sprint directly and was informed that this call did NOT originate from them. It's a phishing scam posing as Sprint get your bank info--don't fall for it.

2008-06-05 18:01:51 UTCjeff

IT IS A SCAM!!!!! Period.
Do not believe anyone who says otherwise or you deserve to lose whatever they con you out of.

I have been recieving calls from this number for the past 3 months. They started as sales calls and now are statting that I have a past due balance and need to pay immediately. I have never had Sprint/Nextel service. I called Sprint, they verified that they do not show anything every being in my name and verified that this is a scam! 800-839-4254 is not a Sprint/Nextel phone number. I reported it to the OAG's office who had me call the FTC to report the calls. Both departments have had other complaints on this number and stated that this is a scam and belived to be coming from out side of the United States. Best advice, do not answer or return the call!

I got a call from them at 8:49 am. I do not have Sprint, incidentally.

Just a little comment to all you people who are telling me to pay my sprint bill on time. That is kind of difficult seeing as I have never and WILL never have a Sprint account. Some jerk that had my phone number BEFORE I had it decided to not pay his bills and then get a new phone number. luckily I use grand central and I can make them think the number is disconnected. Thank you Google.

they have called several times & never leave a msg.

AN URGENT NEXTEL CUSTOMER MESSAGE REGARDING YOUR SPRINT TOGETHER WITH NEXTEL CELL PHONE ACCOUNT. IT IS IMPERATIVE TO CALL US BACK TODAY TOLL FREE AT 8008394254 IN REGARDS TO THIS URGENT MATTER AND USE THE FOLLOWING REFRERENCE CODE 2100. THE TOLL FREE NUMBER AGAIN IS 8008394254 AND THE REFERENCE CODE IS 2100 THANK YOU FOR YOUR IMMEDIATE ATTENTION. [odd, because I'm not a Sprint or Nextel customer. Never have been.]

I got this call and after speaking with a representative, I was NOT past due on my account. I don't know what's wrong with them. Computers these days . . . .

2007-10-03 14:44:56 UTCben

no message.

2007-09-20 14:20:25 UTCSprint customer

I answered the phone and an automated system told me my acct was past due $31.00. I pressed 0 for an operator and someone came on the line asking for my phone # and password. They also wanted my CC info to process payment. I called Sprint and they said they had no association with the people who had called. My account was not past due. This is a phone scam. In short, if someone initiates the call to you, you have no idea who's on the other side of the line. If you are going to pay your account, you should initiate the phone call. At least you will know who you are talking to.

2007-09-06 17:56:55 UTCmAd

Sprint and nextel are together, but there billing is so screwed up - I paid through sprint but nextel didn't associate with the payment so they called to tell me my account was past due and going to credit agency....

2007-08-02 19:02:51 UTCHH

As stated before: You get these calls if your Sprint/Nextel account is past due. Sometimes an automatd message is left and sometimes not. I get these calls all the time as I'm always past due. If you want to stop getting calls; PAY YOUR BILL ON TIME PEOPLE!!!! =-)

No message left. Called at 8:39 AM

2007-07-17 20:42:18 UTCTim

I've received 3 calls from this number and finally called back to see what's up. Nobody there knows anything about it including the "Fraud" department. They identify themselves as Sprint but I'm not sure it's true. They don't sound like sprint people. There is not even music on hold. The whole things seems really bogus.

2007-06-16 14:52:24 UTCSE

You get these calls if your Sprint/Nextel account is past due. Basically, it's their "nice" way of threatening to disconnect your service if you don't make a payment Immediately.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
