NCO Financial calls the house at least 3 times a day. They are trying to collect a debt I owed to Montgomery Ward. The debt was charged off over 15 years ago. These folks are debt buyers, the lowest form of debt collectors, they buy debt for pennies on the dollar and then spend their resources in an effort to collect money. When they collect, the money is pure profit to their company. They never send any additional money back to the original creditor. There is no statue of limitations on this type of debt recovery, they can call you the rest of your life. I just ignore them and let is go to voicemail. In response to the other comment about student loans, they may be one of the collectors, but I would check it out carefully. If the student loan is with these folks, then it has been charged off and bought for pennies on the dollar.

They called me on a cellphone and left a message. I called them back and told them that I was recording the call for "quality assurance". They asked me to turn off the recorder. The representative was pleasant (marginally) and promised to take my phone number off their list. We'll see. If they call again I will make waves!

NCO is the worst. I paid off a debt a year before NCO started calling. I explained the debt had been paid off and I had all the documentation to prove it. They told me I was lying and that my credit report showed differently (which was a lie on their part since I had just received copies of my credit report from all three bureaus and nothing was showing on them). They requested I fax the documentation to them, which I did that same day. They claimed they never recieved it, so I faxed it 5 more times and sent it hard copy with return receipt and signature confirmation requested. The harrassment still continued via phone and they never provided written documentation of the debt that I requested everytime they called. It took the original creditor threatening NCO with a lawsuit to get them to stop!! Never agree to anything on the phone and if you truly owe a debt, contact the original creditor to work out a payment plan, they will work with you!!

Debts should also fall off your credit file in 7 years from the date of last activity,so never make a payment on a collection unless it clouds title to buy a home. Paying the old debt will only hurt your credit and lower your score.

They have called my home phone several times stating that they need a return call from a female who doesn't exist in my household. I put them on my call block list.

This is NCO Financial. They're a collection company. Probably THE worst in the business.

They called my home and left a message on my answering machine "Please call John Adamson at 800-685-4343" I called, gave them my phone number, and they asked if my name was "Jodi Holt". I told them it wasn't and she just hung up on me!
