Daniel: You can start by reading about the federal laws I have promoted in this thread since the end of 2010. You should also have a cause of action to bring suit for a harassing call pattern.
ftc.gov
MeToo, the only waste was your time in complaining before you had the facts, and possibly your reading comprehension. As non-sales callers, all debt collectors are exempt from filtering out any numbers registered on a no-call list. The FTC never kept this a secret, and practically begged you to read the linked FAQ at registration time.
ftc.gov
The FTC has primary jurisdiction over debt collectors and it does bring civil actions against the worst actors, though we may argue it's not often enough. When your rights are denied and you have laws with private right of action to help you, there is little excuse to sit and grouse while waiting for a rescue which may never come.
Thia morning I got about 8 or 9 calls from this phone #. I need to put a stop to these calls.
Message sys "Hold on for a representative" for over 2 minutes. Then a female voice asks for someone else. This must be a previous caller, because I just answer and leave the phone off the hook. She asked once then, surprise, she hung up. THESE FOLKS HAVE A LOT OF NUMBERS and IT SEEMS the FCC/FTC CAN'T or WON'T DO ANYTHING TO THEM. What a WASTE the DO NOT CALL LIST is, eh???!!!
This is coming a collections agency calling themselves Omni Credit Services. They seem to be a scam though, just harrassing people and attempting to get illegal information.

At least twice a week, I receive a recorded message from a woman asking to return a call to this number. I can tell that it is a recording, because the message is never changed. My name has not been specifically mentioned in the message, nor has the reason. I just delete the messages. The calls come in during the day and I get to review them on my answering machine when I get home from work. Just hit the delete button and double-flush these clowns!
Rebecca: Your story describes multiple counts of abuse and discussion of debt with a third party to the alleged debtor. Also a collections rep must at least give a business name on demand. You can go to court next week with this for your $1K if you have solid memorialization of these calls and/or audio recordings.
In your cease-comm to Omni I hope you mentioned a workplace was receiving calls, which gets special mention in the FDCPA. If you'd sent CMRR like I keep promoting, a bear trap will snap over Omni's foot if you're bothered again. Then you approach with your summons like it's a serrated knife and finish the job.
Their representative calls me on my direct line at work, for a person I don't know and has never worked for the company, calling me a liar when I tell her I'm not the person they're looking for, continuing to call me by that person's name and accusing me of being a deadbeat, telling me how much this person owes and to whom and that I should just pay up. Refused to identify herself or the company she was with. I Googled the number and came up with Omni Credit Services. Total scum.
I've already reported it to the FTC and sent them a cease and desist letter. We'll see.
The phone carrier? That's your first move? Let us know how that doesn't work out. All the advice you need at this early stage is right here in this thread.
They are calling me too. I don't know who they are
Or why they keep calling. I have received about
10 calls from them over the past month. Am unable
To reach anyone. Very frustrating. Am calling
The phone co next.
Lolly: I would call that a harassing call pattern, illegal under FDCPA.
Have no idea who they are - may be trying to collect from the person who had our number. We have had it only for a short time! Called them to tell them they have the wrong party!
Jeez!!! Those people calling and calling. They won't stop and call every 15 minutes and in 2 hours they made 7 calls!!
Stupid idiots calling all the time.
Omni will probably keep calling, SF, to prove how rude they can get. Document those calls and send a written cease-comm via USPS Certified with card. You might list what you flag as Federal violations while you're at it. I would argue the rep's denial of early calling is itself a violation. They should already have outbound calling records, easy enough to reference. Do not breathe a word of legal action unless you intend to file in court. Give the fools a chance to obey, and if they don't, that's just more ammo for you.
They keep leaving recorded messages on my machine for someone I've never heard of and I've had this number for over 4 years now. I finally called them back and they were extremely rude from the very beginning. We'll see if they actually remove my number from their dialer. When I told her they called before 8:00 a.m. which is illegal, she said no they didn't even though I have a clock (with atomic time) on my phone.
The rudeness and sneaky tactics are sadly common across the debt collection industry. If you are receiving repeated, misdirected, and/or abusive calls from a third party debt collector, you may find relief in the provisions of the FDCPA, the Federal law which regulates collector behavior and provides you simple tools for your own defense. It grants you control of how you are contacted, and collectors can be sued for their crimes. Learn your rights and first response tactics at FTC-dot-gov. See also your state laws for additional support.
I tried to call this number today and it rang and rang and rang w/o answer. That's how I finally found your site. I know it's regarding debt...duh! We have plenty in our home but I am not going to rush out to fix this or set up payment with an "unknown" person. I cannot believe that when I googled the %# how MANY people have the same situation and dating back to sometime in 2007~
OMNI Continues to ignor a posting on my credit report that the vehicle was voluntarily accepted by Ford due to Defective Speed Control. Control Exploded, almost caught Fire. Covered under Moss Magnuson Warranty Act which voided contract when veh was unrepairable. Filing Civil Action under Section 1532(g) of the Fair Credit Reporting Act for Punitive damages against OMNI and maliciously ignoring a recalled product under Federal law that Ford Motor Company Voluntarily took back. When contract was voided, no longer required to go to Arbitration, opened up both State & Federal Court Relief.
Its a collection call from ocs 1-800-670-9944 ext 310 her name is darla a nasty old witch I just put her in her place for the message she left on my cell that old bag ......
THIS IS SO ANNOYING THEY WONT STOP WTF
Called three times in a row ... said who they were calling for, but nobody by that name lives here. Stated that if we were listening to message and did not answer then hang up (if we were not the person they were trying to reach) then they would assume that they were calling the correct phone number and that person had been given notice - I'm not really sure how they actually expect someone who is not home and receives this message later in the day on the answering machine to actually respond ... wish they would get their records straight and stop calling my number.
6 times a day they call and I keep telling them to stop it and they won't
yes, even I heard they are damn rude. I've never interacted with them but friends tell me they are mean when they collect. Try looking for online reviews on them. I got one here debtconsolidationcare.com For other details also visit their website omnicredit.net.
This number belongs to Omni Credit Services. Heard they are very rude. They called me once but were nice to me. If they are not worth working with I'd like to not work with them and rather work with my original creditor. Where can i find more feedback on them?
you don't have any debt and it's not from a person. it's just a company fishing for a reply by using some old school tactics; the same tactics the Better Business Bureau uses. "hi, this is the BBB and we've received some inquiries about your business. you need to give us a call back asap to discuss this." then, they pitch you on their services when you call back. getting a call back in sales is not easy but when you make it sound threatening, it's a lot easier.
Don't call this number back - 800 670 9944 - because then they'll have more information about you and try to reel you into their bogus service.
We just moved here a month ago, and every stinkin' day I get a message from "Sandy" that we must be working the same shift and she's been trying to get in touch with me and to call her back at ext 111. Well, today I was tired of the phone ringing and answered it- and a recording came on saying exactly the same thing!
We don't owe anyone any money outside of the mortgage company. So what gives?!
Bubba - caller ID blocking (*67) does not always work when calling an 800 number...
Did you mental midgets every consider that if you paid your bills, you wouldn't be getting collections calls?
Yep, this is a third party collection Agency. Keep in mind that even if you do owe someone money you owe these people that are trying to collect on your debt nothing. They work off a commission basis and may or may not report to the collection bureaus even if you do pay them assets towards your debt. Avoid these morons at all costs. They have no standing in the debt. They are purely parasites attempting to suck a potential host victim dry.
This is a Bill collection Agency attempting to collect on third party debts. The number that calls is an auto dialer and if you call back they know they have a good number for you. Don't call them back.
"This is Sandy. I've been trying to reach you for quite some time. It's important that you call me. I'll be in until 3 PM. Please call 1-800-670-9944, extension 111." I called the number within 45 minutes of receiving it, and I used *67 to block caller ID. The number answered only as "OCS" and I asked for "extension 111" and was put on hold for about 30 secs, then the same person (a black lady who didn't identify herself) came on the line and asked whom I needed, and I said "Sandy at 111." She said just a moment, the phone stayed live, I could here rustling/movement, and then she asked if I had received a call from them "at this number." When I said yes, she said they were looking for a Stacey Brinson (phonetic), for whom I've been receiving collection agency and sallie mae calls for nearly 3 years; sallie mae quoted me her phone and it's one digit off from mine. Regardless, I told the person at OCS, who had never put me through to Sandy or asked my name or my phone number about my experience with this Brinson girl and that she did not live here, that I had been here for 7 years, etc., and then the operator said (politely enough) "OK, we'll take THIS NUMBER (my caps) off our list." So, that suggests to me, since I used call block (and I know it works) and never game my name/phone/etc., the combination of the "operator's name" (Sandy, or Mellinda, or JoeBob, or whatever) and the "extension number" are a code to look up the phone number being called by OCS. I hope they are a true business and live up to what they said they'll do now.
Extremly nasty people...they need to be reported to the Better Business Bureau..
I recieved a message today, December 17, 2008, from 1-800-670-9944. They used a local number to leave a message to call the 800 number. The local number they used is, 617-848-3738, caller id saying Boston MA. I guess they thought that if I see a local number I will pick it up and answer but they are wrong. If I don't know the number, I don't pick up. Now I will see where that local number leads to.
I have received phone calls for my Fashion Bug card debt and the want to give me a second chance to pay off the card and to issue another one or I will have 7 yrs bad credit reports and they want to set up three monthly payments of 258 dollars each and if I don't give the dates of each month and my account info today they will put as refusal to pay. Can they really take that much of my check every month and what am I supposed to do about my other bills. The woman acted like she didn't care about how much I have going out every month and they just decide what will be taken out of my account. What am I gonna do with 92.00 dollars left on that week they take that out. Am I able to call and get them reduced by paying the balance back within 6 months of payment arrangements
Some woman keeps leaving messages on my voice mail from this number. I have no idea who she's looking for because she never says a name. She calls every day while we are all at work.
Received call from this no. stating that this was Becky and it was a recorded message that said she has left several messages and if I do not return her call, she will call my work no. When I tried to call the no. on caller ID, all you get is a messsage that "This is Melanie, leave a message. It also gives an option to dial 0 for operator, but the operator is not available. I am on a no call registry and there is no reason for anyone to be calling me and SHE has not left any prior messages.
met this scumbag i would break her legs and beat her to a bloody pulp eddie businessmen dont make stmnts like that and you say one of my companies if you see this give me your company info so i can research and find nothing but a trailor you are in arears on pimping your wife and daughters out are not legitimate or legal for that matter so crack open a miluakees best and watch your video cassette of the best of stone cold steve austin on your plaid lazboy you got at a thrift store while smoking your pall malls while your wife is drinking thunderbird fine wine in a bag
NOT IN GOOD STANDING with the city of Arizona.
i got a call from this company and found out they had had my past due macys and bloomingdales accunts they advised me if i paid them off they would get me 2 new cards to re-establish my credit i paid them got the new cards and my credit score has gotten alot better after this i tried with my other past due accts and none of them would extend me a new acct they told me to reapply after i paid with macys and bloomies they didnt look at my credit or make me reapply i am so glad that i was given the oppurtunity to get my self right again finacially improve my credit rating
looking over this and other collection numbers i see stupid things said like th person that says they are not in good standing with the city of arizona last time i checked arizona was a state not a city but what do i know also the lady that says they hang up because i wont give them the number i called from hello moron obviously they already have the number if they called you and if you dont give them the number how are they to know wrong number also the moron that sd called and was disconnected hey stupid dial the right number and it will ring also the few morons sayng never got thru but they calling wrong nmbr they are looking for you just pay your bill and the idiots who say they couldnt be cllng for me you are in denial and revert back to childhood days when you used to tell your parents it wasnt me
I have no idea who they are. I don't have anything they would be calling on for collection. I tried to get info from them as to who they were and got nothing. I won't give out info without getting info. They were semi rude and when I would not give info they hung up on me. They might have some real debts to collect, I don't know but not with me. No mail or other calls before this message saying many attempts.
hey "SOS" sounds like you still haven't grown up. instead of taking care of your bills (because i'm sure you have plenty)you're whining on the internet about getting collection calls. get a clue!! paying your bills=no calls!!
it is funny how people live beyond their means with credit know they can afford it charge it anyway the when they get calls from collectors they make up things and go out of their way to blame everyone and everythng to make themselves feel better and to try to justify it if you think its ok to take merchandise from people and feel ok about not payng it back you dont have any morals there are people that go thru things they cant control but those people get back on their feet and handle their business w/out tryng to blame other people unfotunately 90% of debtors wallow in their own self pitty live miserable lives and try to make everyone else miserable around them do the research only 3 percent of people nationwide default on their bills i did my research and collectors make between 40 and 100 thousand a year so if you are calling them minimum wage employees and you have a bill they are tryng to collect you probably not employed or you yourself are making minimum wage and to make yourself feel better you crack on people
Clearly even those of you who say you never got the full phone number, have it, considering you were able to find this page, and it seems stupid, no absolutely moronic, to be so angry and feel justified in your anger when you've admitted to never talking to or trying to contact the company, when getting calls, and if there asking you who you are and trying to double check that the number is not to the debtor, its there job, a-lot of regular generally honest people will lie in a second to avoid collection calls. Also as far as there rudeness if you heard half the things people say to collectors, you'd understand how one of us could flip, or has a low tolerance for people giving them shit. Remember debt collectors are humans, and we try to be nice, but we're immediately treated like shit by 80% of people we speak with.
The person identifies herself as Sandy and in an angry voice says she has called several times and that we have not responded, which of course we haven't b/c she talks so fast we can't say a thing. not that it would do any good b/c it's a recording. can't even get down the phone number. too, too rude! doesn't id who she is with.
Unbelievable! A woman named Melanie - ext 228. Collecting an old Macy's account which an authorized user ran up; wanted payment in full by Monday she hung up on me after insulting me, telling me to "grow up", "come down off my high horse" "dumb and irresponsible" and then told me that she marked me "refused to pay" and to get a lawyer. I ended up in tears (which is what she wanted I am sure). I tried to call her back and she hung up on me. Then I got her voice mail. I know she is doing her job but... we all have things happen in our lives that are out of our control and just need a chance to make it right.
ok got this call from them saying I have untill 3:00pm today 4/18/08 or else. Now I dont know what the or else means .Maybe I will turn into a great pumpkin @ 3:00 I will find out and post it later unless I turn into a pumpkin and then I wont be able to write.HAAAAAAAAAAA
Message is always cutoff. Says to call before 4:00, message usually comes in between 4:15 and 4:45 Central Time, which is 5:15, 5:45 Eastern Time where they are located. They are most definitely minimum wage employees who cannot get real jobs! Must be the product of incest.
Constantly being called by this number and no one answers. When I call the number back it is disconnected.
OCS has been calling for years for a stranger who is not at this number or address and never has been. When they call, a recording asks you to wait on hold every ten seconds for ten minutes. They eavesdrop on your conversations with others while you are on hold. When they pickup, they are nasty and won't identify themselves. They want to know who you have been talking to while on hold. They routinely hang up on us when we warn them that we will be filing a harrassment complaint. We call them back, and they say, "I heard you the fist time sir!"
got a text from 129 saying please call 8006709944, calls me at least twice a day, it's absolutely ridiculous! I am getting effin p'oed!! My husband and I have perfect credit, we don't have any overdue bills or anything, we usually pay all our bills a couple of months in advance. The latest we've ever been in paying a bill is RIGHT ON TIME. Grr.....I'm not even going to bother picking up the phone if they call or call them back. I filled out a stupid survey online and all of a sudden I get all these crazy numbers calling me all times of night and day....that's what I get for trying to win a prize then finding out it has all these requirements (buying a lot of things and recommending another household and having them do the survey too, ect..) in order to even recieve the prize in the first place. Ach!!!! Technology is so infuriating! Sometimes I wish I had lived in my Nana's day. My husband jokes that I'm a chilled person but that if you push the technology button on me I blow up lol.....sad but true....oy!
We get calls every week and sometimes everyday for a name that doesn't live with us. I assume they want someone who had our number before it was assigned to us maybe 10 years ago !!!!!! They are so annoying and doesn't matter how many times you say you have got the wrong number, so they ask you if you know the person they are calling for dah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Left same message as reported below. I am glad I found this website, now I know how to handle them.
LCS Collection Agency. Tried calling for their address to send a certified letter not to call me at home or work. Was on hold for some time.

Calls alot ,sometimes leaves a message. Message never says who they are calling for or who they are, just to retun call. They can just keep talking to the machine.
Rude mean lady(bitch) called saying she has supposedly left me numerous messages and i havent called back which is not even true and aside from that she doesnt even say who shes calling for or where shes calling from and then she hangs up...freaking disrespectful...im a businessman myself and i would never ever let a company of mine call anyone like that without firing everyone responsible in making the call happen...No one ever speaks to me the way she did...rest assured if i ever met this scumbag i would break her legs and beat her to a bloody pulp.
Kerry Murphy was the agent who calls, leaves nasty messages, threatens to call my employer, threatens that I need to call by 4pm or she will call my work (own my own business so I dont give a flying F$%^). Its about Macys account thats past due.
They call my house all the time, I just don't answer. If you look up the President's name, George F. Kopp you will notice that their company is NOT IN GOOD STANDING with the city of Arizona.
same thing. i can not reinstate your account if you dont call me before 300pm today?
never do business with them! i spoke to melanie! she was very rude! i tried to work out a payment plan with her but she would not have it! she called me young and dumb!! she needs to be fired! this agency is scum

Called to talk to "Melanie" at 228. Explained that she had the wrong person. She hung up and wouldn't answer phone again.
Call several times a week for someone who does not live here. When I called back she accused me of "being nosy" and that I did know the person! Pond scum credit collection agency.
This lady called at least 2 times a day and leaves the same message " I've left previous messages and this will be the last time regarding the reinstatment" She does not tell who the message is for. I finally called back because I was annoyed by her"this will be the last call" and yet the next day she will call again just to say the same thing. Turns out, the person no longer live here, she wanted me to give her the person's new phone. I told her no, and that I want them to remove my number. She tells me, the person have to call her so she can put in a new number. With that comment, i assume, i will continue to get the calls. I was transfer to a lady by the name of Tracy. I don't know if she is the one leaving the message, but I have to agree with the other postings. They are very rude....
Called me in TX at 4:48pm (CST) and told me to call back by 4pm EST to take advantage of something... does not make any sense b/c 4:48 CST (when they called) is 5:48 EST (1 hr 48 minutes after they told me to call)... weird.
Omni Credit Services of Florida, Inc. in Tampa, Florida. They are a debt collection agency, trying to collect for my old Macy's account which was closed two years ago and was never late. Be careful when dealing with them, they are slimy!
Have been getting messages on my machine for weeks now ...only half messages because the person calling begins talking before the beep. She states we had to call back before XXpm to be "reinstated" and this was my last chance. Finally was home today when she called and got the same lady...however it's a recording! Called back the number and reached Omni "AKA" OCS.
Called again in the middle of the day. I contacted them -- they identified themselves as "OCS" -- and asked them to take my number off their call list.
This company sent me a collection bill for a fraudulent of $300. They were combative and harassed me on the phone. The company from this number is Omni Credit Services of Florida, Inc. The address is:
PO Box 23381
Tampa, FL 33623-3381
The above number is a collection agency called Omni Credit Services of Florida, Inc. in Tampa, Florida. Rude doesn't even begin to describe them.
This company called my daughter, who is a 3rd grade teacher with PERFECT credit, and threatened her with lawyers and, of all things, the IRS if she didn't pay a bill. The bill is from a store in another state that she's never been in and they refuse to send her any documentation with details and/or her signature. They were so rude she ended up in tears.
I got a new cell number and have been getting calls from this number a couple times a day on some days -- leaving messages to call back to get re-instate (something...)
Yes. It's a creditor. I got a message with someone saying somthing about this being the last day of the month and we had to call before 4pm to be "reinstated" and then called back to say that the deadline would be extended because of the holidays. I missed the first part of the message, since their machine was talking over our greeting. I knew this was a load of crap, but I called back to figure out WHO was calling. They were very rude and wouldn't identify themselves. Should have come here first.
HARRASSING CALL FROM CREDITOR
Some woman keeps leaving annoying pre-recorded messages on my answering machine on a daily basis: "It's very important I speak with you today I do not want to bother you at work it's
1-800-670-99__" (the last 2 digits are cut off). The sound of her whinny voice really gets on my nerves. She's lucky I haven't yet picked up the phone and answered because I would chew her out! When I find out more information on who this is who's calling my private phone and annoying me, I will hold them accountable and make them suffer the consequences.
We get calls every few months or so for a name that doesn't live with us. I assume they want someone who had our number before it was assigned to us...6 years ago. Yes, they're still calling after 6 years.
called a few times, no name, acting if they were a personal friend.
Call several times a week since June. Just a recording asking for a call back--no way to tell them to put us DNC list. So irritating.
