They (Gemma Communications) basically work for Rogers Communications, probably auto dialing, and the people are not keeping up with the computer dialing

I have been recieving daily calls from them on my cell phone. I finally called them back and unsubscribed. For some reason, the number it spoke back to me initally was a completely different number though.

I get about 10 calls today from this number, everytime I pick up the phone, it hangs up!

I am NOT happy with that! so I call this "866" number back, guess what, it says, this is a Long distance call, the long distance rate applies; without know what kind of rate it is, I hang up. (some of the bait phone call you, and when you call back, their charge like 10 dollars per minutes for the call)

Some more checking on the net, find it is a telemarketing company called ATELKA doing the promo for FIDO.

I check the internet again, 866 IS a toll free number, but without taking any chances, I call this number from a Public phone then you will find out how to remove your phone number from it!

So, if you are annoying with this number calling you, call this number back from a public phone, it will cost about $1 for them, but cost you nothing!

REMEMBER: CALL IT FROM THE PUBLIC PHONE!

I called back the 1800 nmber and opted out of being called. I also asked someone trying to get me to sign up for a credit card to remove me. This was 2 weeks ago, they still call.

I decided to start calling their office and putting them on hold. After doing this 5 times, they agreed to take immediate action and remove me from the list...we'll see tomorrow I guess.

Been getting tons of calls from various 1800 numbers lately. Driving me crazy! I never answer, hope they'll eventually give up. Stored the numbers in my cell and changed the ringer ID to silent that way I don't notice when they call.

They called me today to sell me an insurance for my Citi Master Card...they tried to verify my identity asking for my age,date of birth so i told the nice lady i cant give that information over the phone since i don't know the phone number you are calling me from.....
Look out...they know your address and they know you already have a credit card...so what else do they need? your date of birth so they have use of your credit card or appliy for a new one.

It's so annoying & frustrating. They call you in the morning and even after 8p. It's from Roger cable telemarketing. they tried to sell you as many stuffs as they want. the easy solution stop them is click & hangup their call.don't even bother said any word. the more you do, they were less to call you in the future.

I too am getting these calls...two and three a night...I knew they were from CIBC mastercard because they called one night and I spoke to them..told them not interested in changing cards but they continue to call...There is never anyone on the line when I pick up but tonight after reading comments here I waited and finally a woman answered and I told her stop it take me off the list and she said well you do know it can take up to three months...I said if it does you can tell Gemma your employer..they will be receiving a call from my lawyer for harrassment...I hung up on her........I phoned CIBC personally 1-800-465-2422 and just push 0 and waited to speak to an agent...I told her exactly what was going on and let her know about this site...she called the number and indeed it was Gemma Communications 416-256-1800 or 1-800-391-9421 Toronto. She said it is not CIBC but rather an outsourcing company and she is passing the info on to her managers to let them know how these people are affecting our lives and what the response is. I told her I was posting the CIBC number for everyone to call and complain and she said that it is the best thing to do as she herself has received these annoying phone calls. She said if more people call in they can have more power to stop these idiots...so call!

they use autodialers. someone could set one up on their pc and enter gemmas number to be autodialed. if the autodialer hears and anwering machine beep it will stop. you should be able to download one on to your cell. if the autodialer doesnt get an answering machine beep or a voice, it will assume your number is inactive, i think. you try shutting off your phone for a time period around when they call, assuming they call at the same time everyday.

the next time a retailer asks for your number, give them an old number or fake number, but use the same one and remember it. your number is either sold, stolen, or kept, all for the purpose of soliciting. do not give your number to any business. they can get your address from it and sell your name , address, and phone number. my question is, does the caller get any money for the call? thats how they scam you in japan.

Always seem to get dead air! Don't answer the phone. It's all computerized. If you answer, the computer will register your phone line as an "active number".

Unfortunetly thats not true. I have very good credit (no credit cards, no loans). Plus I check my online bank account for fraud. Plus i've gotten a credit report as well. Not only that I pay cash to almost everything. Except utility/phone/cable which is on auto-payment. So with all that said I owe nothing to anybody. Anyhow I called these people up had my number removed. So don't go judging people just because you yourself owe money or have a bad credit.

Am wondering if the CRTC can really do anything about these companies? Seems these aren't the only ones calling me. Have been called by "Cable Vision" 1-647-288-7553 and by "Call Desire'" 1-866-629-7707. Am wondering if it is at all possible to get these stopped? Or am I just dreaming? Phoning them seems to be non-existent, cause the phone calls just keep coming, regardless of what you ask them.

I too had been getting multiple calls a day from them. Most times their was no one at the other end, and a couple of times they asked for my husband by name and I told the person that he died a month ago, lol,(he's still alive) but, they still called. I called them back and got an answering service and got the option to be removed from their list last week. NO more calls, Yayyy... It worked.
They are a call centre that call multiple numbers at once and the first one to aswer gets to speak to the telemarketer. The others get silence.
