You people should know better than to"dial it back". Your answer machine picked up the call and hung up. You didn't win the NY lottery, no one in your family died, so why have a screen call and dial it back? Look at what you did. You just verified the number is valid, they have it recorded so the list can later be sold to another spam outfit and they accomplished the goal of proving the number to be valid. How dumb can you get. Stay off it. Your answer machine protected you and you didn't want the protection, you just had to dial it back. I wonder why you have an answer machine to screen calls.
This call was on Caller ID, but no message left. We're on the "Do Not Call" list, use Verizon's call blocking service to eliminate anyone blocking their number and routinely ask ALL phone solicitors (survey, charitable, political, etc.) to put us on their "Do Not Call" list. It keeps it to a minimum, but we'd like to eliminate all such annoyances.
I let my ans. mach. pick-up and so they hang-up w/o leaving a message. When I call their #, their VM greeting directs to 800-379-2058 to speak to someone. I believe the company doing the calling is here: xentel.com and they have this e-mail up on their site:
"Don't Call Service"
dontcall@xentel.com
Caller ID: 800-379-2057
Caller: MS Society of Portland (Xentel DM)
Caller Type: Non-Profit Organization
Saw this number on caller id, didn't recognize the toll-free number, let it roll to the answering machine rather than pick it up; no message left, they just hung-up the second they got the answering machine. I dialed the number back and got a detailed voice-mail greeting that described the purpose of the MS Society of Portland's purpose for calling, and providing 1-800-379-2058 as an alternative number to call to get them live.
I answered the call, but no one answered.
This is Xentel DM telespamming on behalf of The MS Society of Portland. The inbound number for that campaign is 1-800-379-2058. Same Xentel guy's voice as whocalled.us
When I answered there was no one on the line.
