Who Called Us

SCAM CALLS FROM 1-800-347-4779, They claim to be Discover trying to get my account info to set up auto payments in exchange for a lower interest rate for 1 year. I Verified they are not Discover, just trying to scam account info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've been getting calls from this number every day. After reading the statements stating that it is from Discover. I'm wondering why they call since I don't even have a Discover card. Check my credit and no Discover Card. They don't leave any messages either.

Somehow I don't think this is really DiscoverCard. First, I have gotten calls from this number for several days and I had talked to Discover only 2 days ago because this number actually belongs to them but is the TDD number. They said they did not know why the TDD incoming number would be calling me. In addition my account is current.

It would appear that since some folks are reporting the number as 614-283-1943 that Discover's number is being spoofed. What bothers me is where did they get my phone number? It is unlisted and non-published, even the telephone company directory assistance does not know the number. My concern is since that email folks who handle the email for so many companies were compromised, what else might have been compromised?

I got a call from this number. They claimed they were Discover calling for my husband regarding some correspondence. I told them this was his wife and they could talk to me. She said they couldn't. I asked why they were calling this number when it's not the number listed on the account, she got flustered and said she didn't know, it's the number they have for the account.

I called Discover to verify the number and they said it's not a number associated with them. They couldn't find a reason that I would be receiving a call and recommended I don't call it back.

The caller leaves a recorded message about my Discovercard Account at least three times a week. She, in an English accent, said that it was important that I return the call. Since my account is current, and under the limit, I did not return the call. If it's so important, I'm wondering why they don't send anything in the U.S. mail, or even by email. My guess is that it is one of those debt reduction companies looking to sell you on their product. I won't be returning the call, unless I get something in writing about what's so important.

My caller ID said "unavailable" but the message on my machine said it was Discover and that it was important that I call them back at that number. I was suspicious because the caller ID did not have a name, so I contacted Discover through their website using my user name and password to be sure it was secure. I used their online chat service and the customer service rep said they are not familiar with that number. She said it couldn't have been a marketing call since I am on their "do not call" list, so they checked my account to see if there was a problem that would warrant a call. They found nothing wrong with my account and they also found no record of anyone calling me. She reported the incident and said it was good that I didn't call the number back.

Called, but did not leave a message. Reported as a DNCL violation.

Get called from this number two to three times a day. An automative message is left telling me of an important information regarding my discover card account. Also that I should call back within set hours. There is just one problem, I DO NOT HAVE DISCOVER CARD!

have paid well below minimum. they call 4 or 5 times a day, but only once left a message. "Please hold for an important message..." is all that is left on my BellSouth/AT&T mailbox. No message is ever left, which means that they never have a live person on the line for at least the first three minutes, the open time for a message. interesting, since I pay online and there are never any messages or notices: just "Thank You" emails.

Here I am again. I think this IS legitimate after all. But the lady who called gave my wife the whole account number which is against protocol. We didn't get the cards in the mail for this new account, so I was confused. But I do recommend that you don't give bank information over the phone if they call you. Instead, tell them you will call them back. Then call the number for Discover card 1-800-347-2683 and see if it is legitimate.

The reason 4 people on this listing are saying this is Discover Card is because 4 PEOPLE GOT SCAMMED! Either that or they are part of the scam. I got an email AND a call from these folks, and my wife even gave them our bank account information. So we shut down our bank account immediately and they didn't get us, thankfully. We don't have a Discover card ending in 5047 and we didn't have a late balance as they tried to say. These are clever scam artists.

Got a message just now from a guy looking for Curtis Long (have no clue who he is) and left his # of 1-800-347-0265 calling from Discover Card. These people have called me before looking for Curtis Long and have left different 800 #'s and have gotten similar calls from Law Firms and such, but there all "Scams." I'm assuming group of low lives are working together creating a false story for you to fall into (trap) and hoping you will send these scam artists your hard earned cash.

i also got called today from this number, and they left a message claiming to be from discover. the number they left did not match the number on the back of my card, so i called the card's number to ask what was going on -- they said that it was NOT discover that called, and that I should NOT call the number back. the customer service rep I spoke to said that there were no flags or memos on my account, and that nothing strange had happened, either. when you get calls like this, i'd say it's best to call the official number back and ask what's going on. if their own departments are not communicating with each other, that's their problem, not ours... it only is our problem when we get scammed...

Three calls in less than 24 hours. Third time they finally left a pre-recorded voicemail, saying it is important I call back. I have never had a Discover Card, there is no reason for me to call them.

jo is right, this is Discover Card. The actual phone number is in relations to accounts and not a soliciting call. It can be anything from account questions and fraud prevention to over-the-limit charges and late payments.

I have been getting a couple of calls from this number just about every day for a week or more. The message just says "Please call 1 (800) 347-4779." It's highly annoying! The number matches what's on my caller ID.
