I just called the Verizon 800# listed on their website. The Customer Service manager informed me that this IS a Verizon Wireless office, it is their marketing division. They call you to offer upgrades and such. All you have to do is tell them "no thanks," and they will stop calling.
I have been on the phone with verizon wireless directly since 1/6/2010 with concerns of this 800-261-1646 # When you call this # it's a verizon recording that keeps circling and no one ever answers. 2 customer service reps and a supervisor have tried this # can not get through to anyone and can not confirm if this company is outsourced by them. One of the supervisor's even suspects that this co just recorded a verizon wireless message and put it on their phone. BEWARE!!! They ask you to confirm all your information. They actually asked me to confirm my 9 digit ss#. I told them if they really have my account info they already know the info. They also told me the name of the co is Connect North America. The incoming calls from this # is very harassing. Tonight I receive 5 calls every 1/2 hr and they are now blocking their # using 000-000-0000. Verizon Wireless has given me the FRAUD DEPT # 800-521-1841 which I will be calling. Everyone must call the FRAUD DEPT so they will start doing something about this. They also marked my account for no soliciting from within the company, so if the calls continue it's definitely not Verizon wireless calling.
They've been calling me on and off for three months. in the last week i've gotten a call everyday ranging in time from 9:30a-5:30p.
No answer when I picked up.
I am tired of these phone calls. I don't have Verizon Wireless and am so sick of these attempts at soliciting my business that out of frustration I WON'T do any with Verizon Wireless. There's gotta be some way to block these calls. Asking to be removed from the call list is useless. Like oh so many other "government-sponsored programs," the Do Not Call List is a waste. Good luck, y'all.

Probably NOT Verizon. Think about it...I have a Verizon Cell phone. Why wouldn't they just call that?
However, a scammer looking to get cell phone numbers probably wouldn't have it and is looking to get it so he's phishing. And also probably getting personal info.
Verizon sends my bill via email AND snail mail. Why haven't they sent me anything by those means if they are trying to get me to enhance?
Who is 800-261-1646/Unavailable? I already got calls previously from so many numbers such as 203-514-5000 like 4 or 5 times a day almost for a week. Never left a message on my fax machine. I think we ought to put Verizon as telemarketing should put to a FULL STOP!
Verizon calling to sign a new contract and buy a $119 (their cheapest apparently) cell phone, a full two months ahead of schedule there-by canceling my "new every two" cell phone deal.

Verizon Wireless called to offer an additional 100 minutes a month, at no additional charge, for early renewal of my 2-year contract (which doesn't expire for another 3 months). I declined and asked that they flag my number to NOT call me about this again. She confirmed that this would be done. We shall see ...

This is Verizon Wireless. I have no "business relationship" with them. After several calls (hangups or no message) early this summer, on July 16, I called back and asked to be taken off their list. But they called again on Aug. 23.
According to the NY State Office of Atty General, "Federal law allows you to sue for $500 in state court if you ask to be put on a telemarketer's "Do not call" list and you receive more than one call from that same telemarketer within twelve months after making the request."
Waiting for one more call...
I also got a call from these people. I didn't pick up, and they didn't leave a message. It's probably VZW reminding me about my contract.
I am sick of this call coming into my cell at least 3 times a day.When you try and call back no one picks up.If you are trying to get me to enhance my service, I already told you I am not interested, so why KEEP CALLING. My experiences with Verizon have gotten so bad I am switching. The service stinks.....................

Have gotten a few of these over the past 10 days. Haven't answered, haven't gotten a msg. Current Verizon contract is up early Nov, so it's hard to believe they're calling me now! Won't be renewing regardless.
We've received a call, no message, from them 4 times recently. Additionally I answered the phone about a Verizon renew, same as Matt described and told them we would be doing it at the store. Didn't check the # when I answered and talked to Verizonwireless.
got a call from these guys today and the agent used profanity just before i hung up- not sure if it was directed at me or what- very unprofessional.
i got a call from this number, when i picked up, no one repsonds. i get tired of it so i just push one of the number buttons for about 10 seconds just in case someone is there so they will get irritated just like i do with this type of phone call. you would think a massive corp like Verizon would not pull this thoughtless and inconsiderate customer service.

Called and did not leave a message. I have a feeling it is about the 2-year contract renewal because i'm approaching end of contract in July. I tried to call back and the number did not work.

(Note: In the above message, by resign I meant "to sign again" (as opposed to "to give up"). Perhaps I should have used the word renew or, at least, re-sign. Sorry for the confusion.)
I answered the second call I received from this number; turned out to be Verizon letting me know my 2-year contract was nearing its end and offering a special deal to resign now for 3 years ... the rep was nice enough and didn't pressure me when I said I didn't want to do anything at the moment.
