The national do not call list is a joke. A meaningless waste of time. I don't even know why they started the stupid list. Worthless.

It's known that cash makes us independent. But what to do when somebody has no money? The only one way is to receive the loan or just bank loan.

Getting these calls often. I do not answer, let the answering machine get it, but they leave no message. It's annoying to get these calls. I'm on the "National Do Not Call List" but I get a great number of calls every week.

The presumption is always that you are the right person, the debt is always owed and you are attempting to obfuscate the issue. I tried to get the caller to verify who they were calling for, but he wanted me to give him my information (Social Security, etc). When I refused, he threatened me with "legal action" and actually had the nerve to tell me it would "be better for me an my family if I just acknowledged the debt and paid it like a real man instead of hiding". Tried to call his office to complain and was met with exactly the same treatment - "we know you owe this, so just pay it already."

This is where we live today. The burden and cost is on you to prove a negative with no evidence whatsoever while the collectors have absolutely no accountable responsibility to prove you are the debtor.

This call happened last year looking for a very common name my husband has. After talking to very rude people and verifying that it wasn't the same person they quit calling until recently (Nov '08). I went to their web site amsher.com and located their address and I will mail them a letter to stop calling. We have no late or overdue bills (yet) and I do not think it is fair because our name is common that we should have to put up with trying to resolve this in an extensive manner. They need to state the last two numbers of a SSN of whom they are looking for to clarify that they are incorrect or who they are calling for or more identifying information without giving up protected information. Just because somebody doesn't have time to call them back doesn't mean they are the target.

Be leary of any collections to your number if you are not in debt or have any collections on your account. If you can get the name of the person and do your own investigation if you are a Maryland Resident you can go to casesearch.courts.state.md.us and look up people for free. Also if you ever put your name on your check beware! People will take your phone number and use it as a reference number while they keep free of getting harrassed by collections while they give your number out while they run up bills from phone companies, Cable companies, credit cards etc.
Maryland Residents.. BEWARE of Mail or calls in the name Of Feriyal Sorany Kahn. THis is happing me right now.

getting automated calls daily from this outfit asking for someone we do not know. The robotic female voice used by this service reminds me of the game called "Portal".

Left generic message for me to call them back. I noticed some are saying collections , however I have nothing in collections.

I have rec'd a couple of collection messages lately from this number for another person that I do not know. I have not responded to those messages even though I have been getting one call a day left on my answering machine from "Jason" or a woman whose name I can't remember . I even rec'd one recorded msg on my answering machine that said by NOT responding to the recorded msg (while their msg was being left on my answering machine while I was at work earning money to pay my own bills!) that I agreed that I was the person they were attempting to contact. I guess these collection agencies are too cheap to use inexpensive online search companies to verify who a phone number belongs to. I have had the same phone number for 30 years and do not know and have never heard of the person they are attempting to contact. I'm looking into my state's laws about these types of phone calls. Also, look up 800-616-0166 for comments about another apparent collection agency that refers to a "court matter".

calls, but doesn't leave a message. calls my biz phone number so i'm able to block them.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
