Who Called Us

Called my place of employement and tried to get access to personal information.

On 11/12/2010, I had a missed call from 215-320-0424 at 9:48 am CT, along with the female voice message asking to call back to Elisa Madison 1 800 220 0605 ext. 2552. The message says something about Robert Lidenberg something. I tried to call back, but the extension was occupied.

Called stating i needed to call back as extention 2550. I called back thinking this was a "real" call needing response. Got "Gary" and gave him my name....he stated he worked for Monarch Recovery and needed my phone number???? Red flag - if this was a real [legal] company you would think they would have my name. this started my questions after i gave them my phone number.....he began the stupid uneducated type tricks to try and get my "full" name....appears to be trying to scam people. Would not even tell me who and what loan i'm responsible for,,,,,stupid scams.

Caller asked for my brother. I told them they were WAY off. Asked me if I knew him...stupidly I said yes. I DID get the caller to give me a message for him...she said it was Lisa Gordon & he can call her at 1-800-220-0605, Ext. 2555. I asked who she represented, she told me "Modern Recovery Services."

Holly Sharpe called said to return her call at 800-220-0605. Finding out this is a collection agency.

We pay bills here. So heads up everbody!

Caller ID said "800-220-0605" but I have a dual-IP address reader and the number shot back as a Philadelphia Bottom Feeder "ACS"- the 2nd number [real?] was nothing like what the caller left.

Called multiple times lately, this is the first time they left a message demanding I call Kathy Blake at 1-800-220-0605 x4372 and hung up. I refuse to call people back that refuse to identify the reason for the call in some fashion (company name at least). So I came here... looks like another bottom-feeding collection agency is after me for a debt I don't owe (whatever you do, DO NOT buy anything on a Best Buy credit card. Even if you pay it off they'll still demand you owe them something and it'll be an uphill battle for years against the worst of the bunch of "collection" agencies.) Looks like I get to go to war against another one now...

Received a call from this #800) 220-0605, no name. Wanted someone who doesn't live here. Said they were doing an investigation.

Received letter with settlement amount on 5/29/2008 from Paul Roberts x4671.
Received phone call on my job from Kathy Wilson on 6/13/2008 856-668-4130 who stated it was essential to return call at 800-220-0605 x 4475.
Received phone call to my cell phone number twice on 6/20/2008 - no message was left.
Received phone call to my cell phone number eight times in one day - no message was left.

REPEATEDLY told that I can't be reached at work, but have been leaving calls on our general office voicemail daily!! I thought that was illegal!

These people don't give up. I reported them to the NY State Attorny Generals office 6 or 8 months ago and I have documentation that tells me they can't call me anymore. The calls ended shortly after that, but know they have started again. This time I'm going to try to take them to small claims court.

Ever wonder where drug addicts, prison parolees, and newly released mental patients go? They become debt collectors....oh.....that's why they are BRAIN DEAD DIRTBAGS!

My boss received a call from a Tina Charles asking for me. She left the number 800-220-0605 ext 4465. I have no clue who they are or what they want, but will file a compaint since they are calling me work and I have never spoken to them.

Called asking for my son. I told him he wasnt here, didnt even live in the state any more. He demanded me to tell him where. I told him I didnt know (I dont). He said he has a matter that if he doesnt get my sons side of the story then he will have to make a desisionc w/o him & that wont be good.
I asked who he was.
He said Andy Miller, he was calling from Philadelphia. It was federal law he couldnt tell me anything else. I told him that he needed to give me more info. He refused saying he couldnt. I hung up after he becoame beligerent w/ me.

called looking for someone who didn't live here. possibly lied saying that that person had given our phone #.

They leave this number but repeatedly call from 215-320-0424.

I reported them to FTC. I'm not sure if it is an illegal debt collection practice to call people who have names similar to the debtors (over and over and over and over!!) but what the hey, if enough of us flood the FTC and the ACA with complaints, maybe they'll stop. Complain at:

we just recently began getting harassed by these rude and ugly people who really need to get a life. My sister answered the phone and asked politely who was looking for my other sister and the man disregarded the question and would not tell her who it was, he just said it was a long distance call for her. She hung up on him and the creepy man called back and this time my other sister picked up. She also asked in her best manner, who was calling. Once again, he rudely refused to answer. He hung up on us after being even more creepy. Well, now that we know were not alone, I strongly suggest that someone or something, some force of God...TAKE THESE PEOPLE OOOOUUTT! ooh-rah!

These people call about 15 times everyday. They leave short ugly messages. One this evening was more like a threat out of a Horror Movie. These guys are sick and perverted, they really should get a new act.
The tactics used are old and boring, maybe a cleaning job at the ZOO would better suit their intellect. DO NOT give these people ANY of your information, and DO NOT allow them to shock you!

Turn on your answering machine, even if you are home. It helps.

They have called several times, once one of my kids answered the phone and the person started threatening my child. I was not home and so they could NOT give me the phone, but being a well trained child, she was not going to tell a complete stranger that she was home alone. When they called back they accused me of hiding behind a phone and children and used extreme offensive language.

It is a nightmare of a place that I never imagined could be doing business the way they are because of existing laws and regulations covering third-party collections. The other crimes being committed on a daily basis were just as mind boggling to me: drug dealing and drug use definitely being at the top of the list -- all being done very openly and with the knowledge of all who work there. Academy management regularly demanded it's collectors to change dates of deposit on posted-dated check-by-phone payments in order to look better and appear more productive to their clients. How were they able to do that in this day and age?...The daily routine at Academy Collection Service is extremely bad and very illegal and something needs to be done about it!"

Like most debt collection agencies, Academy Collection Service makes more money when they DON’T abide by the law as detailed in this email from a former employee:

“I was employed as a collector at Academy from **/**/ thru */**/ when I was fired. The reasons for my being terminated had everything to do with my unwillingness to violate FDCPA regulations as I was expected to at Academy. Every word I have read about Academy online (all of it very negative) is completely accurate. I began keeping an informal log of each time I witnessed an FDCPA violation, other crimes being committed in the office, unethical/illegal demands placed on collectors by management, etc., and I stopped after reaching 150 violations in less than one week. All collectors were not only expected, but required to do or say absolutely anything required to collect the most money from debtors as quickly as possible regardless of the law while at the same time it was understood that if a collector received a complaint from the Attorney General Office or other agencies we would not receive our commissions on that particular account and would possibly be required to pay a fine. Received several calls asking a person that has a name similar. When I repeatly told them had the wrong person they would quickly hang-up but calls still continue.

Received numerous calls from this number, they left messages (on my sons cell phone), but not a name of the person they were trying to contact. Returned call thinking it was a school(Academy Services) calling (they have called from a few different #'s). Asked person that answered what business I was calling, they stated that Federal Law doesn't require them to state. They asked my name to see if I was in their data base, again I asked who they were and was told the same about the Federal Law. Stated I didn't know who they were/why they were calling my # so stated I won't give my info as THEY were the ones that called my number (person that answered was very RUDE). I hung up on them.

some one with a similar name owes money i always get the call. Please report them. They called once and I told them the had the wrong number

They call me 2 or 3 times a day, even after I told them the person they are looking for does not live here. I filed a formal complaint with the New York State Attorny Generals Office.

Hehe same deal here as above, except my husband and I decided to call them back. Janet was her name, and she was extremely rude when I asked what type of company it was. We each called, asked if we could record the call. She said no and got huffy. We asked a lot of questions--that makes them uncomfortable I guess. Call back. What else can we do? what's this "Reporting?"

This guy called Mike Carter called and left a message demanding that someone named aaron call him immediately. Who are these guys?

this person is not related to us nor lives at this address- told the caller that- they have called several times- today is the first time that a person talked on the line- I don't want to be harassed over someone elses bad debts!

this # calls every day or every few days. they ask for someone with my last name, who I don't know. I have told them that they are calling the worng #, but they continue calling. if i don't answer, they still ask for the same person and say that it is imperitive to resopnd and leave a call back #.

they called for my husband and i said he wasn't available but wouldn't tell me what it was about. gave me a call back number and extension that was it. never heard of them either.

this # calles about 5 times a day asking for cheryl whitesall (spelling) and they have been told that there is no such person many times and still they call. i have asked who they are and they won't tell me who they are or what they do.
