Didn't answer but they left a message. This time they said they wanted to give me cheap health insurance. No company name given.

Warranty Solutions. I asked where they operated out of and the person on the phone said "Southern California". When I pressed for a city, she said she would take me off the list and quickly hung up on me.

Didn't answer this one, since I know what they want.

I just got the first call today from this number. It is interesting to me that I owe one payment on my Ford Vehicle and Ford is the only professional company (lender) who has my cell phone number, so, they would have had to have given out this number. Any other ideas???

Scammers – My phone is Virgin Mobile pre-paid and I never started getting calls until I started with them – never with tracfone! I think they give out the numbers so that the credits are used up faster – absolutely No One has this number – I never give it out!!! Anyone else with Virgin experiencing this?? There should be an investigation!!!!!

Got call on my cell phone at this afternoon. I had gotten an earlier call from 773 753-0974, which is listed as somebody Greene in Chicago. Maybe they are the same scam. Not sure whether this will work, but I have added both numbers to a new name in my Contacts: First Name DO NOT; Last Name ANSWER. What a stupid waste of our time and money. It must work sometimes or they wouldn't keep doing it.

How very interesting that "Reply To Frnkln" rallied to the defense of a shady company that sends cards in the mail aimed at roping in the elderly and the easily confused. Nowhere on the card does it state that Dealer Warranty Services is not affiliated with any car manufacturer.

Perhaps the Dealer Warranty Servies employee needs to read this:

ago.mo.gov

It's of course to be expected that scammers will troll sites such as this one.

2009-02-14 00:49:37 UTCReply To Frnkln

In reading the bolg posted by Franklin, I called the number for Dealer Warranty and spoke with a very nice person who sounded shocked and very interested that their company's phone number and other contact information was being proved in a scam operation. I gave him a way of getting to this website so that he can read these bloggs for himself. Again, very interested and concerned, he is turning this information over to his manager. Evediently Dealer Warranty Services is a viable company but NOT part of the warranty scam.

Got a call from this number who is it?

2009-02-14 00:08:38 UTCFranklin

TO ALL:
I played the game of this vehicle warrantee SCAM with those pains in the butts and here is the information I got. It is interesting information. Do with it as you will.
I pretended that I really did want the warranty (yea right) and after being transferred to a real person (several times) I finally got to the root of it. In using vehicle information from a website from a fellow blogger, I was soon talking with a Warranty Specialist, Latoya. Latoya said the name of her company is Dealer Warranty Services. She explained the insurance policy. Further she said they use Summit Financial Bank and when you get the warranty you pay a $100.00 deductable and then they will use their credit card to pay for your vehicle repairs. For the warranty, the down payment is $150.00 at time of signing and then for 18 months it is payments of $132.06 per month. That is for a 2007 Honda Accord with 54,000 miles. This newly purchased warranty would kick in when the current (your real one) warranty expires. The warranty would expire in the year 2016 or an additional 100,000 miles. To call back and talk with Latoya one would call 1-800-581-1575, she said to ask for extension 124.

I just mark it as Ignore. I now have 21 numbers marked- between RX pharmacies, credit card interest lowering scam , and the warranty scam. BMo has the right idea with the telemarketing scam trap. However there are problems in doing this: the time involved to do go through all those girations with ALL these scammmers and secondly now you confirm youre a live being. Your number will now get on even more scam lists!!

2009-02-06 19:17:57 UTCGeedorah

Apparently I'm on a list too-- I get one or two of these a week. I say Ignore 'em! What else can we do?

2009-02-05 16:05:51 UTCDavid

Called my cell phone, pre-recorded call. Lady trying to get my vehicle information since my "warranty is going to expire". Wow, I wouldn't want that to happen.... So which car? They don't trust you with that info? Then why should I trust you with that info. Supposedly works for "Vehicle Services", which is pretty generic and useless. Suggested I check my warranty and get back with them. Like just how? They have no name, no number, etc for Vehicle Service? What a pity that people actually fall for this garbage.

2009-02-05 15:20:08 UTCAnne

They're obviously just buying a list of phone numbers and calling without listening to the voicemail message. They keep calling my workplace and our message states that we are Community Mental Health. They're idiots!

Another one of these awful car warranty calls. I was connected to an operator and asked them to take me off the call list. She took my number down. I HOPE I get taken off instead of receiving more. These people need to die.

2009-02-04 17:21:09 UTCChris

Yeah I just got the call from them, waited on hold to speak to someone as I don't have warranty coverage on either of my vehicles so I'm not sure what they want me to extend. I repeatedly asked the person I spoke with for their name, the company they worked for, etc. All I got was "Warranty Help Desk". When I asked to speak to a manager, I was disconnected.

Just rec'd this call. Didn't leave a voice mail so must not be that important right? odd number. stars with "1"? I've been getting those "warranty" calls a lot lately. I hate that they call your "cell phone" so annoying. Not going to call back.

2009-01-30 22:14:13 UTCA

No one said anything. Why do I even answer?

2009-01-30 20:13:17 UTCKP

I get these calls all the time and as soon as you ask "what is the name of your company?" they immediately hang up on you. Today I asked the same question and the girl on the other end said "Warranty Help Desk". I said "The name of your company is "Warranty Help Desk"and that is on the sign out side the building?" She said "Yes". I said " I don't believe you and I hope that you can find a job with a legitimate company one day". She then said "Fucking Bitch!" to me. I said "Is that how you are trained to talk to customers, is anyone monitoring this call?" She said "YES!!!" and hung up! I would sure like to know who the hell these people are and have them shut down.

2009-01-30 18:26:21 UTCS.Evans

Called then hung up after broadcasting an annoying tone. Were I more paranoid I'd suspect them of using the phone system to datajack, except as far as I know the phone companies have taken measure to make that entirely more difficult than it used to be. (At one point you could get some phones to dump their memory to a high speed stream then hang up simply by dialing them and sending the right code over. A consumer rights lawsuit did away with that practice however.

2009-01-30 17:01:37 UTCmike

they called talking about this is the second call to inform me of my car warranty has expired. Man they str8 trippin! LOL!!

2009-01-30 15:45:42 UTCAimee

These people are calling a corporate office about six to ten times a day and everyday. When I try to call the number back it says that it is not a working number. When I stayed on the line the girl hung up on me. I would love to know what BS this is.

2009-01-30 01:35:17 UTCmona

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
