First time I will contact state representative to express concern for continuous calls. Could be ASU, Creighton, Air Force, who knows? As a professional fundraiser(!), I am very disappointed. I look forward to OFC going out of business, and at the same time, I am sorry for all the legitmate nonprofits that will suffer from the impending legislation.

2011-12-06 18:33:36 UTCN. Folsom

I called the # back, selected 3 from the menu, and put in my phone number to have it removed from their call list. I'll see if it works.

2011-11-04 23:10:44 UTCChuck

I let the answering machine handle it. They just hung up at that point.

2011-09-23 18:32:36 UTCSMC

I get the calls and the postcards all the time. I get that it is some alumni directory. I am not interested and have no idea how they got my home address and work number. I called two weeks ago and requested to remove my number but low and behold I got another call today!!! Does it ever end?

2011-06-02 22:37:03 UTCdavid909

2 June 2011 -- 3:02 pm -- Caller ID said "directory ofc". Message was left by a Matthew Galway from Harris Connect. Wanted to talk to my wife about an alumni directory. This is probably a scam.

2010-12-28 01:00:30 UTCChaos

ever considered talking dirty to them? They mite b sleezy enough to give u learning experience though.

2010-12-28 00:38:44 UTCHarris

They're persistent buggers. I just hang up. Many times I'll pretend that I can't hear them or the connection is bad. It's great fun. Other times I'll insinuate I'm interested and ask them to tell me more, then I'll put the phone down and go do other things. When I return, the phone is usually beeping annoyingly. I like when they call.

2010-11-22 16:23:40 UTCCalling my JOB

Calls my work phone multiple times per week. I am frequently out of the office. They NEVER leave a message. This has been going on for months. SOOOOOOO Annoying!!

2010-11-03 21:49:33 UTCElaine

They called for my husband several times. Today, I responded, until they asked for his social security number. I refused to answer any more questions and hung up.

OH my GAWD! Someone CALLED ME! HELP!! A phone call! ..........

2010-10-06 16:56:42 UTCpwr

La.Tech University gave these sleazy creeps my contact information so that they could call and harass me about buying a cheap alumni directory. I sent the La.Tech Alumni Association a letter saying to delete me from all contact lists, never again give my contact information to any sleazy outside organization so that they can call and harass me, and that I would never again give them a cent. Harris Pri is a cheap sleazy outfit that will harass you and try to trick you in to purchasing their "directory." Please don't donate to any organization that does business with these creeps.

2010-08-18 17:06:59 UTCPissed

After may calls I finally went to the store bought a new Uniden phone system for 100.00 which lets you block calls at my home that I don't want or recognize. Best money I ever spent.

Don't wait for a phone call. I didn't receive a phone call. For the past two months, they have been taking money from my checking account. How did they get my account number?? I had never, ever discussed buying a directory from these people. Never spoken with them. I am a single household person...so go figure that one. The only way I can stop it, is to pay a $25.00 stop payment to the bank. Talking to them doesn't do any good. I am turning Harris over to the BBB and the Attorney General.

This is an Alumini number for an update to a directory.

Some company wanting to update the University's Alumni directory

2010-04-08 18:21:11 UTCRobert

I have dealt with Harris Connect in the past and have been very
greatful for the product. I had lost contact with many high school
friends through years and was very excited to be able to find and
reconnect with them. This company also did my college book with
the same positive results. In defense of this company I had a very
positive experience with them. My high school only does one every
10 years but most of our alumni would like one to be done maybe
every 5. This type of book is really a great way to re-establish old
friendships.

2010-03-31 17:18:09 UTCHC Employee

This Company DOES exist! I work for them! We sell alumni directories designed by YOUR schools! harrisconnect.com. You were put on this phoning list by YOUR alumni association or organization and we are contracted to do these jobs. We are located in Chesapeake Virginia. All calls are recorded and we would not charge you for anything you did not agree to buy!

2010-02-19 23:00:50 UTCKarey

DO NOT IGNORE!!
We began receiving calls in 2007. When I finally spoke to a person, I said no, no thank you, not interested, etc (that's what I always say). I didn't think much about it. Then we began receiving collection calls saying we were going to be sent to collections for a $115.00 directory.?. I never requested nor received a directory of any kind and therefore did not want to pay for this scam. My husband and I both thought "Red Flag/scam artists....ha ha we're not falling into your trap". Needless to say, we fell into the trap in a major way! I just attempted to refinance our mortgage only to be denied because of a $115.00 collection bill! I just pulled his credit report and listed as the number one negative factor affecting his credit was 01 Harris Connect! This company does not seem to exist on google. I am so thankful to this blog for helping me put the pieces together! Now on to disputing a 2 1/2 year collection and repairing a very damaged credit score!

2010-02-09 01:04:55 UTCchris

I received a call to update my current info.
I did not request a book ...However got a bill , then another bill, then the directory book and a PAST due bill.
there wasnt a contact number anywhere on the package or any of the bills.
this is a scam.
Called this number 800 877 6554 and spoke to a PERSON and the instructed me to write " REFUSED , RETURN TO SENDER". thanks for this blog everyone !
**I'll probably get a bill for the shipping though**

2010-01-25 18:19:52 UTCRich

I gave them all the infor. they needed from my Marine Corps yrs. and told them I wasn't interested in the New Book.
I received a bill for 109.04...what part of "NOT INTERESTED" didn't they understand?

2010-01-15 23:35:52 UTCLena

This is why having a VoIP phone service is so wonderful. Unlike landlines, and even the new cable phone services, some VoIP companies provide filters so that calls like these can be eliminated. You can create a "White List" and only callers on that list can get through to ring your phone. All others go to voicemail. Or are blocked, however you set it up. Sure, once in a while you get calls from friends not on your White List, but that will happen once; add them to your White List as soon as you get their voicemail Some folks have good reasons not to be able to do this; kids in school, elderly, never knowing where an emergency call might come from. When a call goes to my voicemail, I immediately get a text message on my cell telling me the name and number of the caller. Emergency situation solved. And it sure beats putting up with telemarketers.

2010-01-14 15:23:19 UTCTom

Harris Connect also is publishing the Marine Corps League Directory, and they're
trying to get people to buy it. That's why they called me, I'm sure.

You gotta love it when someone comes in here to leave a message about how legitimate these junk callers are and how they are really doing a public service and we should all be happy they aren't robbing senior citizens of their Social Security or selling dope in elementary schools. The fact is that they are parasites who, because of bribes (excuse me, I mean campaign contributions!) they pay Congress, get special privileges to bypass the do-not-call list and invade your privacy against your expressed wishes, harassing you using the very phone service that you pay for with your hard earned cash. And if you don't want them to call? Well, it's up to you to beg each one of these scum sucking companies to please, please not bother you anymore, just so they can ignore you and call you anyway. I know of very few professions with such an absolute vacuum of moral integrity (and when I say professions, I'm including all the world's criminal professions!).

The universities and organizations that Harris Connect prints these books for have ALL agreed in writing for Harris Connect to publish the books. Harris agrees to “update” their student information in exchange for relentlessly marketing an overpriced book to you. These directories are usually outdated and very little of the information is updated. The universities and organizations rely on Harris Connect’s “updated” information so that they can also mail out solicitations to “beg” alumni for more and more money. So, get angry at the universities and organizations who secretly agree for Harris Connect to harrass you on their behalf. Harris Connect’s system of rewarding employees for selling directories is also very unfair and “set up”. It’s a fraud. They have a system set up that only allows a select few to make any real commission. They have their calling lists and compensation system down to an exact science. This is set in place so that they can keep as much profit as possible. Don’t buy these directories. If they send you out the information card, it is best to call and be placed on a Do Not Call list. Otherwise your university of organization will keep allowing Harris Connect to call you forever and ever as long as you are an alumni or member. Better yet, write the university and tell them that if they keep allowing your name to be used, you will not give anymore money to your university or organization. The bottom line is that this company is making millions of dollars every month selling overpriced garbage.

2009-11-30 20:57:02 UTCleavemealone

I'm going to go with the previous poster Al. Harris Connect is a real company, not a scammer or telemarketer operation. They sent me two yellow postcards by postal mail, their name in a corner and my schools on the front. I haven't received any calls from them, but I did call them at their toll free numbers:
1-877-252-5644 and 1-866-874-7468.

If you're bothered by either unsolicited calls or postcards, don't ignore them. Call them back and demand to speak to a supervisor if needed. The calls are "recorded for quality control" which means they are all monitored. If that doesn't work, then go one level higher and complain to the school, college, professional organization, etc. that contracted with Harris. Tell the alummi association that you will not donate any more money to them unless they can get Harris to stop pestering you. That'll get their attention.

2009-10-14 18:36:09 UTCAl

I used to work for Harris Connect. SORRY!!

But, the best and easist way to stop the repetative contact is to CALL IN.
Once you have updated the mailings and CALLS WILL STOP!! IF they dont theres a glitch and all you have to do is tell the rep your already updated.
Let the rep Update your information, but all the information is voluntary!!!!
If there is something you dont want listed then just say so!!

YES - at the end they will offer the book to you for sale. This is NOT HARD sales... THey ask you once, twice then 1 last time giving you all their avail products SO all you have to do is calmly say no, no and no.
But that everything that they just update is complete and if its ok to print in the directory.

AS I SAID: ALL INFORMATION IS VOLUNTARY!!
IF you have the same name but not the right person CALL IN and say so, it takes 2 minutes.

I cannot not address how they get numbers The research dept calls last known numbers and sometimes whoever answers give out the "unlisted" or "cell phone" numbers and that is how you get calls on those lines.

This # has called my house once and I ignorned it and just now they called on my work cell phn. I have no idea how they got that phone #. I did fill out an on-line update for my Alumni file from the college I graduated from, but I do not remember listing my cell phn #. I have received mailings to call and verify my information and I have ignored them I am not interested in buying anything or donating any money, so I have no reason to call and verify anything. I am going to block this # on my home phone and hoepfully they will not call my work cell phn again.

Yet another company who seems to consider the federal "do not call" to be a "please call me" list.

2009-04-20 22:18:50 UTCDick

Although I am supposedly on the "Do Not Call" list, I get repeated calls from this number. Many of these calls come at mealtime. I received one at 6:15PM on 4-19 and received another at 12:15 today. I have not answered them but if they persist I am going to contact the Attorney General's office.

2009-04-20 04:49:54 UTCSam

I actually do work for Harris Connect. It is a company that is contracted by YOUR SCHOOL to update their data base so they can stay in contact with you for reunions, mailings, alumni events. A lot of alumni use the publications for career networking, to stay in contact with one another or re-connect with old friends. The best way to get us to stop calling is to 1.) Answer the phone and say "Put me on your DNC" (We do not ignore those as somone suggested)
2.) Answer the phone and update your information. We do include everyone in the book, but you do have the opprotunity to have some of your info. not printed. ie: address, phone numbers etc. but ONLY if you answer your phone other wise whatever info. we have we print and list it as "List not confirmed". Regardless of what some people might think we are a very repuatable company and MANY people enjoy the product we produce.

I recieved a half message today that included a number to be added to the Do Not Call List. The number is 888-201-1301. The call came from 757-962-8857 and 800- 546-2545 was the return call message. Hope this is helpful to all.

2009-02-16 23:06:40 UTCPaul2

They called my elderly father. After a "friendly" chat, they offered to send him confirmation that he'd belonged to an organization 70+ years ago. He reports there was no mention of money. He subsequently got a Directory, a bill for $130 and a threatening collection letter. He called them and got "Margaret Armstrong, Collections Supervisor" at (800) 829-2629. She offered to arrange a return and asked for his email address so she could send him info on how to send the book back (so now they have his e mail address too). Her email to him promises to credit his account if he returns the book by a specified date… Sure! I called and gave her the usual hell. I got the usual negligible results.

There are two actions that may be effective: The first is to contact the Federal Trade Commission/Do Not Call Registry and explain how their exemption of non-profits is being exploited by outfits that use unfair and deceptive business practices. It would help to call your senator and representative as well. The second is to contact your college or other organization. Explain that you can't support an organization that contracts with this type of outfit and that you're going to take this up with the alumni organization. Then follow through. Ask for a written response.

Based on my prior experience with this sort of thing, 10 contacts will be enough to make an organization review their policy. They know that, for everyone who complains, there are 100 who are just as angry. The Do Not Call people don’t want questions from legislators and colleges can't afford to have 1000 alumni mad at them…... But you have to do it.

What happens if you go ahead and answer, then inform you are sorry, but that person died last (???), and the family moved to (????) -- you don't have any information as to their address, but the caller might try phone directory service there in (????) --- crap like that ??????? Sometimes I talk funny, in a foreign language which I make up as I go ... worky worky! One time, after screeching and screaming my "foreign language" at caller, he held up his phone and hollered at his boiler room cronies "hey! -- listen to this s***! This is from HarrisConnect, which publishes books/CDs for school alumni. Both my high school and my undergrad were "lucky" enough to get these people to do the directory for the school alumni, and my email/snail mail has been flooded with "respond now" cards. I did it online, and then they sent more, asking me to confirm. Today they called, and went through all of my info. Had I not known they were legit (i.e., email from a school official) I would have reported him.

2008-08-27 22:15:57 UTCIncomplete

Harris (should really be spelt HARASS) Connect is a sleazy would-be "publisher" of "alumni directories." What they do is collect your private information from whatever schools you might have been affiliated with at some time in your life, then they pay "vendors" (a/k/a data-mining snoops) to harvest your current information. Then they call and write you and hound you to death, to "update" and "verify" your private data, so they can expand the NETWORK OF HARASSMENT. If you do not respond to their hounding calls and mailings, they will go ahead and PUBLISH YOUR PRIVATE DATA without your permission. Then they sell it to people who can in turn call or write or show up on your doorstep to harass you. They not only "publish" your information in soft and hardbound copies, but also CDs!

If you are tired of having your private data violated this way, call the School District office and tell them to STOP selling/sharing your information; and instruct Harris to get you out of their system.

Good luck.

PS Harris has many different contact phone numbers, including 800-877-6554, 877-625-4244, 757-965-8075, 800-927-8189. They need to learn how it feels to be harassed at all hours with nuisance calls and unwanted junk mailings, delving into their own private lives.

I was receiving calls sometimes twice daily and when I lifted the receiver there was nobody on the line. I finally came across a number to call which will hopefully solve the problem. The number is 1-800-877-6554. This is the number of the company named Harris-Connect which publishes Alumni Directories for various institutions. They assured me they would not call my phone number anymore.

I got 2 calls from this number with no answer. 3 minutes or so later I got a call from my the alumni directory people that were mentioned by other posters below. I told them about the problems with their phones. At the end of the call they gave me the phone number for customer service (1-800-877-6554.) I think that's the number (provided I understood and remembered it correctly.) Anyhow, for those upset by the calls without an answer you might want to try to tell the people at this number.

hey everyone, thought id browse the site and see what complaints there were. believe it or not for two months, i worked for this company(im out, thank god, on to better jobs) but yes, thats one of the reasons why i left, is because they ignore any DNC lists, by not listing themselves as marketers, but teleservice agents. they will tell you they are only interested in gettting your up to date information, but really (and the managers there PUSH this to no end) they want you to buy the book. and it is commission based. and if they cant get a hold of you through a number, then they have a phone research department who will try to find another number to harrass you at such as your work or cell phone number. and will call you 7 days of the week at 7 am up until 10 pm at night. now i dont know what you as the callers would choose to do about it...(by the way, i sincerely apologize if by chance i happened to call any of you, i was doing my job at the time, and i hated doing it, i knew it was morally wrong to bother people at work and at home at early hours of the morning, so accept my sincere apologies) but if you can take some kinda action, because they will keep calling. and these directory projects last for about 3-4 months at a time, so they wont stop calling anytime soon. well thats my rant of the former company, i wish everyone the best of luck in getting rid of them.

Before sending the email I created a free yahoo account to send it with, as I am sure these butt heads would start filling my email address with offers. No message left on my work phone number. Since I'm on the national "Do Not Call List", they are probably trying to reach me at a number not flagged.

2007-05-20 21:22:17 UTCDenny

Nobody on the line - Caller ID said "Harris Pri Ani"

2007-05-19 23:04:07 UTCnan

The woman, JoAnn Finklestone stated she needed a new bank acct. number because she called MY bank and they stated my acct. was closed. I NEVER give out private info. and told her to send me info on the alumni yearbook "she said I requested for $79.94" When I called the number back there was no answer or machine.

2007-05-19 15:40:56 UTCMelanie

I was never able to answer the phone in time and there was no message. I tried to call the number back, but no one answers. I suspect it is a telemarketing scheme.

2007-05-17 14:20:05 UTCLisa

I've gotten 4 calls from this number today. No one spoke. I hung up after about 30 seconds.

2007-05-16 00:24:29 UTCsc girl

no message, no one spoke-

2007-05-15 16:40:27 UTCJerry OH

No one spoke, call stayed active for around 30 seconds then stopped.

2007-05-03 18:13:46 UTCDave

They called yesterday and today -- I did not answer. Caller ID says DIRECTORY OFC.

2007-05-03 16:44:27 UTCCindy

Got a call at 12:40 PM EST.

No message. I hung up.

Caller ID: Directory Office

2007-05-02 15:05:22 UTCcphil674

Definitly an alumni updating service via Harris Corp, as my alma mater has been calling nonstop to update my info.

2007-05-01 20:36:44 UTCAllison

Called me at work but I didn't pick up (I screen my calls from #s I don't recognize!!) and they didn't leave a message. This is probably the 3rd time this # has called me in the past 2 months. Weird too b/c I don't live in the Virginia area, nor did I attend college near there too.

2007-04-17 22:30:54 UTCDr. Joe

Called me after hours. Don't pick up unknown out of area calls like that. Checked the message which was dead air. Guess it wasn't a medical emergency - or maybe they were choking :)

2007-04-17 14:36:05 UTCSteve

It is an automated call from Harris Publishers trying to get information for an alumni directory for a school you attended. It permits you to put your number on a do not call list.

2007-04-09 17:42:47 UTCMary

First time no one spoke, the second time he didn't know who he was calling or for what purpose. I told him NOT to call back again. He claimed his computer was working slow.

2007-04-06 23:29:00 UTCJim

Caller said they were from a company called 'Harris Connect' (harrisconnect.com). They collect data for publishing Alumni Directories.
Contact # they gave me was 800-702-4515.

Company also does business under the following names:
Directory Publication Office / Harris Directory Internet Data / Harris Publishing / Harris Select Communications, Graduate Connection

2007-03-27 11:35:50 UTCHawkins

This number just called. The answering machine picked up and whomever was on the other end decided not to say a word. They simply hung up.

2007-03-14 20:30:05 UTCRat

From a company that does yearbooks or directories for a private school I attended in Minnesota in 1971. They're just trying get get people to buy the current directory.

2007-03-14 13:49:52 UTCMarcy

Caller ID showed Harris Pri Ani. We're getting the post cards for high school alumni directory updates too.

2007-02-28 20:59:03 UTCspecial monkey

i am receiving these stupid postcards one every month. the last thing i want to do is keep in touch with my HS. i wish they would stop mailing me. i am hoping to file a mailing restraining order (is that possible)?

2007-02-26 13:41:00 UTCBWW

Calls our office everyday on the main switch board. After 20 seconds of silence, two people came on line taling to them selves. "You signed in on auto dial, is your headset on, are you logged onto the computer?" Probably some type of telemarketer. What a job to have.

2007-02-22 18:01:14 UTCJonathan

No message, my guess, Alumni Directory as well. If so, the represent Universities, Fraternities, Sororities and Colleges as well. Fight On Trojans!

2007-02-20 10:48:00 UTCBeth

I work at a university and just got this call. Voicemail message that was left consisted of a deep sign and a hangup. I've got enough to do without having to deal with telemarketers at work. Very much doubt it's a government conspiracy, however.

2007-02-02 09:06:29 UTCBarbara

This number calls daily. Sometimes more than once per day. I decided to find out who they are when they called so early it woke me up. ID says Directory Office. I'm sure it's about an alumni directory they are hoping to sell. My husband, stuipidly enough, filled out their postcard. We do not wish to buy their book for a small bible college in Oklahoma that is nearly defunct. Any advice on how to prevent these calls would sure be appreciated.

2007-01-27 09:28:38 UTCLori

01/25/2007 I have been receiving a card in the mail from a company wanting to update my information for a high school alumni. Then I start getting these calls from directory ofc (757-962-8857) which a google search shows Norfolk Virginia area. Well I finally answer this number after being irritated by the hours they have been calling. I
begin a conversation with a male asking me to update my information for my high school yearbook. I tell him know such person lives hear and I am not giving anyone information on who does live here and to quit calling me. He then starts in telling me how the government is trying to take our rights and liberties away. And they are trying to form A North American union between Canada, Mexico and the USA and build this super highway running from Mexico to Canada.
I think the people calling from this number is someone in the government or NSA trying to illegally populate TIA (Total Information Awareness) which was voted down by congress and a violation of privacy rights of US citizens. I think someone needs investigate this and take legal action.

2007-01-23 23:05:39 UTCCarrie

I have received multiple emails, post cards and phone calls about the alumni directory. My guess is they that provided services to multiple universities. Just FYI, mine is University of Colorado.

2007-01-19 10:29:11 UTCDean

I too have been getting alumni messages recently - but I don't know what the purpose of this system is, since they don't leave a message er anything...

2007-01-09 11:57:54 UTCMichelle H.

This is annoying. It is in reference to the TLU alumni directory. I filled info out online and then have been bombarded by mail to call their number to confirm. All they want is to harass me into buying a book I don't want. Now they are calling my office number - Can't someone make them STOP!

2007-01-05 11:55:27 UTCLarry

Called back no answer. Keep ringing.

2007-01-04 14:29:05 UTCLindsay

No message. Line dead or empty when I answered. I waited for a while and heard someone ask for my maiden name...I'm wondering if it is coorelated with the alumni directory I've been mailed on for updates...

2007-01-03 16:52:37 UTCCL

I received a few calls from this number over the past several weeks. The caller ID says "Harris Pri Ani" I am also receiving requests via postal mail to update my information for my High School Directory. I have not answered the phone when called by this number. They have never left a message.

2007-01-02 14:22:56 UTCEddie

I've also gotten alumni notices in the mail lately along with calls from Directory OFC.

2006-12-10 15:51:38 UTCSuzie

Received call 12/7/06 -- wasn't home, tried to call back no answer.

2006-12-02 20:05:53 UTCPedro

Person called twice to tell Sandra that they got her doctor's note, but she should have given more notice and been more proactive about being sick.

2006-11-27 18:58:00 UTCDavid

Also received this call NUMEROUS times. It's an auto-dialer so you have to wait a few seconds for the person to be notified that you've answered.

The company was hired by my college to update their alumni directory. I had already done that via the web site, then again by mail, but the call to "update" is really a call to get you to buy the directory - for me it was two easy payments of $32.

They'll keep calling till you answer - your choice!

2006-11-16 14:51:09 UTCCorey

Calling 4 time a day No message, whoever was on the line did not speak

2006-11-16 11:56:20 UTCStuart

It's an alumni directory company. I received the call today and they updated my information for a high school alumni yearbook.

2006-11-13 19:31:06 UTCdirk

"directory OFC". I think it is alumni crap as well!

2006-11-11 09:11:26 UTCSteve

These jerks called at 8:00 on Saturday morning... the ONLY day I get to sleep in. Woke my entire family up. I am considering legal action against them.

2006-11-10 16:40:05 UTCJohn

I recieved a call from this number at work. A guy was asking for a former employee that worked here 6 years ago or more and also asked for a number where someone could reach him.

2006-11-03 14:57:29 UTCJohn

Same as the other comments. I get one from thses jokers every other day. Have no clue what they are trying.

Area code 757 is in the Southeast corner of Virginia. I was not by the phone when they called. They did not leave a message. I called the number and there was no answer after about 10 rings.

No one said anything. When
answered with hello their end hung up. I suspect home monitoring from with our borders. Do any of you have answering machines that you can call in on and monitor your house or home alarms? They can tell if someone is there or not!

2006-10-31 13:17:03 UTCDan

No voice or recording, just silence. I just turned my CCR (vacant code recording) back on on my answering machine. VCC is a SIT(Special Information Tone) that goes beep, beep, beep to indicate that the number is not in service. Number dialers recognize this and mark the number not in service.

2006-10-30 10:19:24 UTCJulio Baez

We get calls from this # about twice a day. Anyone have any success in stopping it from happenning.

2006-10-25 06:19:59 UTCGeorge

CID: Directory OFC.
after 20 seconds or so of silence it spit out a pre-recorded message about "Card Services" Wow, I've been approved for a credit card.. *click* I don't want a credit card. Obviously just another telemarketer and probably nothing to do with any university. I think the alumni directory stuff is probably coincidence.. or maybe universities are selling people's info to telemarketers like everyone else has been for years ;)
I get 2 calls a day from this number. (Asterisk PBX now blocks them very nicely, so no worries)

2006-09-14 18:13:06 UTCSuzanne

No message left. I too have been getting postcards from my high school regarding a directory.

2006-09-14 17:21:06 UTCVernon

No message. I would bet given the current comments that this is from an alumni association (my wife is an ODU alum and the area code and exchange are norfolk/newport news area).

2006-09-12 02:49:00 UTCJamie Sawyer

I have received a call from this number numerous times. But as some of you said I to have been getting notices in the mail about my sorority directory, Maybe there is some correlation.

My husband picked it up the last time and no one spoke. I tried calling back but the phone just rang and rang.

2006-09-07 18:24:30 UTCSue

I didn't answer and they didn't leave a message. Could be the alumni directory - they've been after me too.

2006-09-07 12:39:09 UTCBill

Only saw caller ID.. but possible alumni directory for my fraternity (Pi Lambda Phi) since I also have received those postcards recently just like reporter Susan.

2006-09-06 22:59:28 UTCmike

No message.

2006-08-30 19:39:58 UTCSusan

I think this may be about an alumni directory as I have also been receiving several postal mails urging me to call to "help them update" my info regarding a university. Very annoying as I do not wish to be listed in anybody's directory, alumni or not. But I guess I would have to call their 800 number -- which would of course automatically confirm for them my phone number if they don't already have it, since when you call an 800 number, in case you don't know, they can see your phone number even if it's blocked -- to tell them no, don't put in info in your *&$#% directory. When I called back this 757 number there was no answer despite about 20 rings. I wish people had to have permission to call you.

2006-08-17 18:31:20 UTCKeith Severtson

No message, whoever was on the line did not speak.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
