I am pleased to say that as of June 5th, after reporting to my bank, all 3 major credit bureaus as well as the FTC - the calls have stopped. It's been 3 days!!!! Either the fraud alert on my accts backed em off or the FTC did :-)
They called me and hung up right away before I could even answer, so I did what anyone else does, call back. They had told me that I had won some package deal for 400 dollars and a 2 night trip to who knows where and wanted to verify my info. They began to read all my personal info such as: my address, account number, phone number and complete name...which was strange. I asked how they received such info and said it was "Randomly selected" through some place I had used my debit card. SO, I asked for their name, he said his name was Jeremy Dhafler, which i think is a fake...Lucky, I work where I bank and I told him if I noticed anything suspicious on my account, I would report him. His response to me was "o-ok.." which was odd to me... usually they would give an explaination of why I shouldn't worry and that it's secure and such. Immediately I called my supervisor and my account will be closed. But, I still have NO idea how they would get my number and information like that.
Continually calling on my cell phone & never leaving a message. I do not answer if I don't know the person calling. I reported possible fraud activity to the FTC regarding this phone number as well as placed a fraud alert with my bank based on the site's messages regarding possible illegal activity. Also a fraud alert with the 3 major credit bureaus. FTC stated that I did the right things. Also if more would report this number to the FTC that would generate an interest to investigate this business.
Thx :-)
I have gotten calls from this "company" before and now they are calling again. Great!
keeps calling although I am on the donotcall reg.
Man, i love these guys :) they sent me $1,000 in free airline tickets :D Haha suckers, im cashing this right now.
Keeps ringing my work phone. I do not pick up because I don't know the number. They never leave a message. Rings the phone 2 times a day.
This number rang here at work, I did not pick it up. They did not leave a message.
Have been receiving calls from this number for the last few months or so. Have not managed to speak with anyone calling from this number. Receive 2+ calls pretty much everyday or several times a week. They do not leave messages. Figured they'd eventually stop calling, but they persist and I don't know how to stop the calls. Isn't there a way to block cell phone numbers from these people?!
They're scam selling some sort of travel package. Don't answer the phone if they call.
I just got this call (at work) and luckily i googled their company and this site popped up. I immediately told them to take me out of their system and to not send me anything. I then called my bank to let them know what had happened and to make a note on my account. FYI - you can also create an additional password for your protection.
Yeah they call me twice a day I finally picked it up they asked for me, I said she wasnt here because I didnt recognize the number and they didnt want to leave a message.
Thank you to all who have shared. They have called my cell several times, but I didn't answer. I'm glad I didn't!
I received a call on my cell phone around 5 p.m. My son had the phone, answered it, they asked for me, I wasn't there and they hung up. Oddly, I have used that phone in 4 years because my son uses it. Some company got my cell phone number from an old employer or creditor/phone company, etc.
Received a call from this number on my cell. Female voice asked, "Is this---", and the call dropped. I didn't receive a call back, but I won't pick up next time. I'm glad this site confirmed my suspicions regarding this bogus call.
They also told me they had my account number due to a purchase. I just said not interested and they said, "but it's free" and I hung up. I doubt they have the full account number. Makes me leary of ever using my check to pay for anything again.
I got a call today, stating that I won $400 worth of airline tickets and a hotel room as a reward for a recent purchase I made with my Wachovia debit card, they could not tell me what store but they did know my address and name and all other information
Informed T-mobile, please call your cell phone provider so they can build a case against them, all they need is 3-4 complaints and they will take action. FTC regs can fine these people $1000 per call if they continue after being notified that they are calling cell phones. Also you can call them back and notify them that it is a cell they are calling but it will only help yourself not others.
Called the number back from a different phone and it was a recorded message about winning 'some gifts'. It gave an option to 'give up the gifts'. When that option was selected it confirmed the phone number and said that number would be removed from the promotion. Not sure whether to trust doing the same from the number they called from.
I also receive calls from this number. I used to work for as a fraud analyst. What you should do is contact you credit cards and checking. Check very carefully for charges that are not yours. Once you have done this please report to your credit cards as well as you personal bank. They will be able to put a stop these people who are fishing. I personally do not answer my phone, but now that I know who it is I may tried and see what information I get out of them. Please DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY INFORMATION, NOT YOUR NAME NOTHING. You will be suprise but yes with you name and a city you can find any and all information out from a person. Do not panic, if you did by accident give out some pesonal information call your CC holders as well as the bank and they should have a process of what do next to insure no identy theft happens.
They called last night for the 4th time since Thursday and I told them to take me off their list, but I got another call this morning. They know my name and my cell number, scary! I keep reading its a scam!
They ask for bank account Numbers twice and the third time they told me they where a travel agent. They are calling from Clearwater Fl. Real scumbags.
I've been called everyday by this number for the last week. I tried calling it back but an operator says, "Cannot connect at this time"
This is my cell they are calling and wasting my minutes!!!
When they call, don't get hostile, simply ask them where your eligibility came from. When they say your checking account, sound confused, when they verify the routing number, inform them that is strange since you recently closed that account as you are moving out of town. They will immediately remove all your info since you are no longer valid. They didn't press me for any other info.
The other thing to note is, all they are doing is getting a list of Bank Customers. The routing number is on a Bank's webpage, they don't have your account information, just your phone number.
It is a Scam, but they cannot charge anything to you if you say no. I recommend then going into your bank and politely reporting the call to them and making sure you are excluded from ALL bank affiliate programs.
I answered twice and gotten two different reasons why I won. On was through my bank and the other was a purchase from online. They know my name, address, routing number, and last four numbers of my checkings account. I think it would be safe to change my checkings acount info because of these people.
They keep calling - I am scared - whom should I complain to ?
For the past several days, this number has called my cell phone. I do not pick up because I do not recognize the number. They do not leave messages, but keep calling. Is there anyway to stop them?
I called them back and they told me they were going to send me a $400 travel voucher and proceeded to inform me that they had my bank account information and would charge me for shipping. I asked how they'd got my info--supposedly because I applied for a payday loan in the past year. I'm pretty sure I did not. I told them to delete me from their database, but to be on the safe side I think I'm going to talk to my bank.
they called telling me that through a purchase i may have made online, via telephone, etc., that i won a travel trip and hotel stay for two. they already knew my name, phone #, my address, the last 4 digits of my checking account, and thru a temporary lapse in judgement i gave them my birth city (cursing myself immediately afterwards). this is the third time they've called. each time they hang up at some point. tell these f***ers to f*** off. they're full of it. i'm going to talk to my bank first thing tomorrow.
This looks like the same problem as with 7276831117. They hang up as soon as you pick up. Travel package scam if so.
