Finally figured it out. I picked up the phone and when the idiot on the other end talked (so I knew I had a live ear) I gave a blast on a whistle I now keep at the phone just for these jerks. I figure it should take her about a week to get her hearing back and I am confident that she took my number off the list without me asking.

this number keeps calling.. and I never pick up. My machine picks up and the message is for a Van Ru to call back and that its not a sales number.. and to press 1 to talk to someone. So I finally picked up today and pressed one. Was on hold for about a minute... till a women answered with a 'hello'.... I said yah.. can you remove my number from this call service? She said sure, repeated my number to me and I said yup.. thats it. She then said 'we are looking for a douglas mccoy (we get asked this all the time with callers). I said he doesn't live here.... and that was it. So hopefully they will stop calling once and for all.

SOMEONE IS ALWAYS CALLING THIS NUMBER AND LEAVING NO MESSAGE FOR THE PERSON TO CONTACT.

Yeah I have gotten calls form this number first off it's not even a complete number, so that led me to believe that it was not legit, but whomever it is they leave a message of nothing but noise in the background, no one actually says anything. Oh it comes up as Intl Number or something on caller ID

Under federal law, the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) states that an account may ONLY stay on a credit report for seven years. Asset Acceptance Corporation has allegedly been known to report to the credit bureaus that you made a payment on this old account which would than give them the right to "turn the clock back" so they can start collecting on this debt again. This is a violation of your rights.

If this has happened to you, there's plenty of lawyers out there who would love to take on your case.

This is the third time in two weeks this company has called. Today I was home to answer. I asked who was calling and a man said "Dave England from American Public Insurance. How can they keep calling if my number is registered with the DO NOT CALL list? I asked him to please remove my number from their call list.

Some of these comments are LAME!!!!!!!!!! This site isn't a list for people to get moron telemarketers, scammers, and other dorks to stop calling you. Its just a site (great one at that) to see if the number that called you is a SCAM.......

Some people shouldn't have computers...............or phones for that matter.

they have called our office (we have 4 lines) and hang up every time I answer. I suspect they are sales calls, and when they find out we are a business, they hang up. Clearly annoying. It keeps us from getting our work done, (interrupted 20 times a day to answer a hang up call)

I had received a new phone# once I moved into my new home. Shortly after, I started receiving calls from this number. I told them several times that they had the wrong number and requested that they remove my number. They obviously did not and the calls continued. Finally, I started looking into who they were, what type of company it was and/or whom they represent. I talked to manager after manager and the calls continued. Instead of the regular once a day, they called 3-4 times a day. One day they called, I requested their info and fax them in writing requesting that they stop calling the number and listed every person I spoke with. I went under Better Business Bureau's website, Fair Debt Collections Practices Act's website, and Federal Trade Comission's website and filed an on-line complaint form and provided them with the copy of the fax. I even got to the point where I was so fed up that I started calling them about 10 times a day stating they had the wrong number and to remove my phone# from their system. One day, I got to the CEO of the company and made a formal complaint with him. Since then, I never received a call from this company. Sure, I could've changed the phone number easily but why should I have to do that because of some debtor??

Just started calling yesterday. It is fraud. They are a collection agency. All they want is information about you.

I do not know your number stop calling me. Harrasement calls can land you in jail dont call again.

We have received numerious calls from 800 877 405 3189 They say we owe over a million dollars. Wow thats a lot. I will notify the Attorney General Monday Morn for the state of Az. Also the BBB for Tucson. Maybe that will stop the phone calls

We have told this person for the 3rd time to stop calling. He was not pleased.

I found adviceontime.com under their section advice there is a credit section. They left a letter. i sent it to them and it worked. they stopped calling

This company is calling our house almost everyday. Sometimes they hang up, sometimes there is silence on the line. In our case they have the wrong number and person. STOP CALLING!

Keep getting calls from GC-EASYTEL. They either hang up or play music. I want to know who they are and what they want. It's becoming very annoying.

Too many calls from this number to remember. We are tired of it and we are on the DO NOT CALL list. What good is it?

If you call 1-877-891-8157 they will stop calling. VanRu is the company - collection agency. In my case they had the wrong number and person. The number on my caller ID has been 727-213-9122, name GC - Easytel HU.

I called the toll free number listed on this page and told them to stop calling me. They tried to tell me I owed them money. I told them I would report them to the BBB if they didn't stop calling. Not sure if it would work, but it made me feel better.
We are on the Do Not Call Registry so I reported them there, too. They had been calling 2x per day for the past 3 days (typically when I'm putting my baby to sleep! ARRRGH!) Glad to see I'm not alone, and that it is a SCAM. Buggers...

This is a collection agency apparently. Not a very good one at that, but they are out to collect small debts owed to credit cards from what I understand. They are very harrassing and rarely leave messages or actually phone numbers to return calls to.

They called me and left a message with my roommate saying their name was chris and i needed to call back because it was an emegency.. any other time no one talks when i anwser

I called the 977-891-8157 number cited in a post here and got VanRu collection. They were looking for a person who definitely does not live here. They said they would take my number off the list. We shall see.

These people keep calling me trying to talk to my boyfriend. They will not stop calling. Just a warning because I finally did some research, do not tell them anything or confirm anything. They are from the VanRu collection agency trying to collect on very small sums of debet. They have a 800 number if anyone wants it, 1-800-708-2375.

I have had this number come up on my phone several times no one answers me just music is playing like I'm on hold.First one I can recall was on 8/31/06 at 7:21 pm, the next one was on 9/05/06 at 10:26 am the name that comes up on id is GC-EASYTEL HU WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT DO YOU WANT? I tried calling the number back got a recording saying that it was a non working number... how can that be they just called me form it.

I have received calls everyday for approx two months. Finally answered the phone today and all I heard was music. I was so determined to see who it was and what they wanted that I placed the phone on speaker and for 45 minutes but no one ever came to the phone all I heard was music.

Called, rang 2 times then hung up. They have done this a couple of times now.this one was on 9-02-06

They actually left a number for me to call back. They were asking once again for someone that does not live here. They call weekly. Some weeks they call daily. I called the number and actually got to talk to someone. I asked them to take my number out of their computer. After answering a few questions, he said my number was removed. I am sick and tired of these bum's have turned it over to the Attorney General for the state of Or. They had called and called no one spoke, the last time music played for 20 min. I'm fed up.

They called at 8:45 PM and left a message to call them back. So we did. We were on hold and finally gave up.

This number is a front for Credit Acceptance. My caller ID showed "GC - Easytel HU." I was left a recording with a different number to call. I called that number and it is Credit Acceptance Corporation. I thought callers had to show their true identity on caller ID???

I would like to see more constructive comments here. I dont have any experience with this number but im sure all the "STOP CALLING ME" comments are not doing any good to help people understand this call.

They call 2 times a day. this morning I answered and it's hold music... no person STOP CALLING!!

They keep calling me, twice this morning and at least once yesterday. They ask for "TRENT". I don't know "Trent". I told them that and they keep calling back!
