Who Called Us

Have been getting almost daily calls for weeks from this number. Since I never pick up ones I don't know I have no clue who they are

They call several times a week, but there is silence when answered. Have reported the phone number several times on the Federal governments "Do Not Call" website, but typical of our lazy government, they do nothing.

Called'm back (thanks for the 800 #) I Asked the operator why the were calling me. "Oh gosh they were a third party telemarketer", Great I says! Put Me On Your Do Not Call List and remember I have Your number now Too!

Here is Austin Gravens company toll free number: 800-888-6780. If you've got nothing better to do call it, and continue to call it. Each toll free call costs the company money. Don't know how much but that's beside the point. Also, after reading some of the posted comments I found that someone posted Austin's cell phone number......719-304-4538. I called it and spoke to Austin himself. I asked him why his company is continually calling my number and he hesitated for quite some time, then told me that he didn't know. He asked for my number so he could "stop" the calls but I declined to give it to him. I'm sure that my number appeared on his cell's caller ID. I did tell him that every time his company calls me I'll call him. He said "OK".

Well I just received my very first call from this number (719-219-3885). No one was there so that brought me to this site. Based on the previous posted comments I suppose I'll be getting many more. Don't know why they've called and don't care. For those of you who asked about recourse because you're on the "do not call list".....forget it. No one gives a damn if you're receiving these type calls. Just grin and bear it.

I get calls from this number at least once a day and don't answer the phone. They never leave a message. I don't know the number and therefore don't answer and I am on the Do Not Call list.

I am on the national do not call list and get a phone call from this number almost daily. What legal recourse do we have?

Got a call... no message... called back and got the voice recording asking me to leave my name and number to be removed from their list?!? I'm on the national do not call list.. that should be enough.

I received a phone call from (719) 219-3885. It is from a firm in Colorado Springs, CO named Graven, Austin and Drake. if you try to call the above number back, you will get a message saying

they keep calling us from this number and wont say anything.

I get this call every day around 2:35. It is very annoying.

Bunch of "A" holes, I get this call every day or at least every other day. One time I even picked up and no one said anything, then the line goes dead. Freaking idiots. We PAY for our phone service then we have to deal with crap, unbelievable. Phone companies should be protecting there CUSTOMERS from this type of annoyance.

Austin Graven continuously calls my place of work. Our office is only manned two days a week so I've only answered a couple times, while ignoring several others. When I did answer no one was on the line and in those cases when I get the silence that lasts more than 5 seconds I assume it's a telemarketer and then I hang up. Fortunately I have call blocking so I just did that and no longer have to deal with them. But the information below about it being a work release type of program makes me just want to say this, as someone who has had credit card numbers stolen and used without permission: don't EVER give your credit card info to people over the phone if you don't know who you are speaking to! You just never know the background of the person on the other end of that line and you put yourself at great risk by doing that. Online ordering is much safer because humans never see all the numbers in most cases.

We get at least four calls from this person Austin Graven everyday. I finally got fed up and dialed the phone number shown on the caller ID--791-219-3885. There is a recorded message that says, "this is a do not call back number. If you do not wish any more phone calls , speak slowly and leave your name and phone number." I did and hope this will stop all of these calls!

They just called me again after me telling them to take my number off of their list.

I recieved this call three days in a row. I missed it the first two times and no message was left. The third time I answered it. By then , I had read this page. The lady asked for me by name, and I said I was well aware of their company and that I did not choose to do business with them. She replied "You wish not to do business with Governing Magazine?" I said, that if I did choose to do so, I would do it directly with them and not through her company. I then asked her to remove my phone number (office) from their records. So far, no more calls but we'll see.....

I have had numerous calls from this number, and can't figure out why they keep calling!

A woman called and said that she knew I was a dental hygienist. She said that She was from the Listerine company and they wanted to send me a case of Listerine when I responded to 5 short questions on email. I called back and got a message that said "This is the do not call list" and if you don't want any calls, leave your phone number. So I did. I unfortunately gave them my email address and now I regret it....I bet alot of junk emails are going to be headed my way....

They called me and asked me if I wanted to continue a magazine subscription to MORE magazine and if I wanted to continue it to a friend that I sent as a 40th birthday gift. Sounded legit.

I just called their 800 number four times in a row and didn't say anything. I was hung up on. I could tell the person answer was getting irritated. Ohhhh, too bad. I suggest that everybody write down their number
800-888-6780 (or their personal numbers) and post it on bulletin boards in gas stations, stores, dorms, etc. and ask everybody to call them and hang up on them.

They didn't leave a message and I don't return call from people I don't know. Just curious...

After numerous blanks on the line when I answered I blocked the call through my phone provider but the calls keep coming through!! Today this was Cook's Illusrated the publisher of the magazine and cookbooks.

This is a last resort company. It's a harbor for ex-cons, drug-users, as well as some good people trying to survive. If you really need a job in this tough economic time then this is the place for you; the turn-over is insane, the managers do absolutely nothing, (aside from yelling inappropriate things right behind you while you're on a call and setting ridiculous goals in order to gain a commission for themselves), they will fire you for being sick and asking off, nobody has been there for more than a year, if you are an actual promising employee they will put you on a harder program that way you don't make as much sales bonus. As far as it being a scam, I am not sure, one of the three (Graven, Austin & Drake) is a major holder of stocks with the Meredith Corp. who produces Ladies Home Journal and Better Homes and Gardens so I guess it's relatively legit on that aspect. And they will never stop calling Jeff, if you get a call from them just politely tell them you already renewed. I know for a fact that the more veteran workers (2 weeks and on) are not in any way intimidated and will probably just call you back alot if try to dominate the conversation. As for the people that are on the Do Not Call List....since you did business with some magazine that is associated with Graven, Austin & Drake then you are not protected. Also they don't put their real address or information out there so if you somehow feel like you are going to get them back.... you're not.....they don't give a shit. So in summation, if you want a terrible/short job for some extra money GAD is the place for you. Everybody else enjoy your calls.

I have received many calls from Graven Austin, 719-219-0669. I would like them to stop.

I am more concerned because I got an email today with his email address listed in with the others on a mass emailing.

You are harrassing me. I am a 71 year old handicapped woman and you are calling me several times a week and I want it to stop immediately.

So, I did a little research...

1) If you're having trouble getting removed, email the company owner at jimgraven@gadtelecom.com or jimgraven@aol.com (the former is found in job postings, the later is the registrant for the company website but I haven't verified if they're still working).

2) Not that it really matters, but I can somewhat corroborate the claims of targeting work release programs as one of the addresses for Jim Graven/GAD is right inside the area where the Colorado Department of Corrections and the Employment Office are located. It's hilarious this lowlife capitalizes on providing one of the lowest forms of employment with the "lowest" citizens. But, building a business is something Mr. Graven should be proud of because it takes a lot of work...even if four of the five top results for his company are about abuse and potential lawsuits.

3) In the case you research this yourself, I'll save you some time by noting Angela Zavala--the former "IT Manager--no longer works there. She now lives in Houston and works with a different company so there is no use in me posting her current phone number or address. As an aside, it's no wonder GAD would hire a barely competent person to help run this sleazy enterprise; her list of qualifications and accomplishments is downright laughable for a "computer engineer."

If you think this company is bad at their marketing calls, working for them is even worse. They are the worst employer in Colorado Springs. One day they will go down for what they did to me.
Their staff is made up of people that are on a criminal work release program and people that have to deal with parole officers. This means that there are drugs circulating through their building during normal business hours. How do I know? I saw it and very often I could smell it, but I never said anything for my own safety because I was pregnant at the time.
They had also told me I would be making $10.00 per hour, but my one check that I recieved was for seven dollars an hour. Another concern was that they were selling A&E Videos to School districts around the United States for just over $200.00 while they could be purchased off the A&E website for $40.00 and up. How low could a business go?
I had complained that I was not being treated fairly and I felt I was being discriminated against and harassed because I was pregnant and they fired me for it. I sent off for the papers to fill out to file a complaint but did not send them out because it goes to the state of Colorado which is never for the employee.This state is almost always for the employer. They do not care about you as an employee.Besides I just wanted to forget about it and enjoy the rest of my pregnancy. That is the reason why this company has been in business for so long-- but they will go down one of these days and I am going to be laughing when they do because they laughed at me and called me a fat pregnant girl when they thought I was not listening. One of their supervisors (Christian) uses his middle finger to communicate. Beleive me, this company will be shut down one of these days.

Austin Gaven calls every night between 7 & 8 PM. No one is on the line. Here is what I do to get back at them. There toll free # is 800/888-6780. Every time they call me, I call them back 10 times on their 800 number. When their operator answers, I don't say anything. Love hearing her say hello, hello. Is anyone there? Your phone must not be working. Try it, it is so much fun.

To File a complaint with the Governing Authority responsible to follow up on these calls go to: esupport.fcc.gov (Federal Communications Commision Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau)and fill out the all the information completely. Make sure you document the dates and times you have received the calls, alot of phones now store the information so you can look back in the memory. If you choose "not to take the time" to fill out the complaint form nothing will be done. The FCC needs to receive mutiple complaints to perform followup as soon as possible, so it is neccesary to log complaints immediately.

I would suggest NOT CALLING THE NUMBER BACK. I believe that the entity of Austin & Drake Graven will try to use the fact that you called them to initate contact and that they where merely following up with you. If you initiate contact with them then you have opened the door to have them call you back. Go to the site and log the complaint no matter what you have previously done and they will be dealt with. I have receievd multiple calls, ran the number on Superpages.com and the # belongs to Austin Graven & Drake Graven,5040 Corporate Plaza Dr Colorado Springs, CO 80919-3132 (719) 219-3885. The caller hangs up the phone and does not speak. I called back to let them know this is the fifth call on record and the repeted calls are harrassment. I will be filing a complaint with the governing authority tomorrow. I will be posting the appropriate contact information tomorrow for anyone that wishes to file a formal complaint. I assume that the entity of Austin & Drake Graven are monitoring this site.

9:59 AM Pacific time: Phone called is the California State Board of Equalization. Four prior calls have been received and each time the calling equipment hung up when the phone was answered.

They called around noon today (Maryland); I'm on the do not call list, in fact, have 3 lines on the list, one a fax. It's usually this idiot, Credit Card Services (one in the same?) or some outfit selling extended warranties. It's been going on for 3+ years now. I've pressed #2 to be put on their do not call list, but it doesn't work. I've hit #1 to chat w/ whoever and have politely begged them to remove me. Some are better than others. Some are polite and alledgedly try and do something, others either hang up or throw an expletive out first. I've called the Marylands Attorney Office and perhaps because they serve at the will of the Governor (means they don't work) they wring their hands; ditto the FCC in DC!

I worked for this company for 2 days. I left and never went back even for my paycheck because I was fearful for my safety. To this day, they have not paid me one cent and are taxing me. When I requested my paycheck, they harassed me, and intimidated me. I have never been treated so poorly.

They are the scum of the earth! I could not sleep for a week after I worked there because I felt the way they did business was SO SO WRONG. They hire convicted felons who are supposed to be under house arrest. The managers there come in sick with hangovers, puking in garbage cans throughout the day. Everyone who works there looks like they have murdered someone. This company allows convicted felons to call your home! COMPLAIN. DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN TO SHUT THEM DOWN!

Better Homes and Garden will not be renewed by my household! The way to prevent telephone solicitation it to provide a bogus number when you subscribe, purchase or complete an online request for anything. Give the number of these bottom feeders. Sign up for everything you can possibly think of. If just 100 people do this, the phone calls and amount of garbage advertising will be grand. Ask all your friends to do the same thing. Request them to ask 10 friends. This is the only process we have to fight back.

I have tried calling back, but just get a message stating, "you have reached the do not call number of Garven, Austin & Drake, please leave your name and number and we will return your call ASAP". First call from Austin Graven. I do not answer calls from unknown Names/Number. Caller ID identified name and number. I too am on the "Do not call registry".

con't...renew subscriptions people supposedly already have (harmless enough) but many of the numbers dialed did not have a subscription, or I had the wrong address info for them, or they were indeed on the DNC list and were still getting calls. DO NOT blame the people calling, the computer dials a random number they know nothing about and then they are prompted to say "hello". The computer gives them a name and address they have never seen and asks them to verify info which could be completely false. And all day long they struggle to make a legitimate living (difficult for many of us in this economy)and neither their employers nor the people they have to call and sell to in order to keep their jobs take them seriously. There is a button they can select that puts you on the company's own DNC list whether you are on the national one or not which they are required to maintain by law. And we do our part by putting you on it if you ask. However, If the company is not doing this, get angry at the company and the magazines that contract with them because the person on the other side of that phone knows nothing about who you are or what list you signed. They're just dumb dispensable puppets that the company finds plenty of, because so many people who were making so much more money before at far more reputable professions are at the end of their rope when they come to work there because they cannot find work elsewhere. WE NEVER dial a single number. The computer does it. Tell the company to fix their crap! Horrible place to work

Unknown missed call on my work phone.

You can call the number back and leave you number to add to their do not call list.

I just called the following number (800)888-6780 and dialed ext. 216 to be added to the company's do not call list. Once you call and enter the extention there is a message telling you to leave your phone number, including area code. I followed up with a brief comment that any other calls from their company would be reported to the Ohio Attorney General.

I'm on the Do Not Call registry and this company is calling 1-3 times a day for the last 4 days. No person ever answers, it makes a clicking sound and hangs up.

Graven Austin & Drake responded to attorney general's office regarding my complaint. They stated they were placing calls on behalf of Meredith Corp in attempt to offer a renewal extension to my Better Homes & Gardens subscription and since I was an existing magazine subscriber their calling qualified for exemption under my state's existing business relationship exemption. They have placed my phone number on their internal DO NOT CALL list and claim to supress my number from future calling. I will be notifying Better Homes & Gardens of this issue.

tonight they called at 7:57pm, phone rang exactly 4 times. I did report the harassment on the do not call website. My phone number must be the only number they know how to dial. I have not renewed any magazine subscriptions this year - have no idea how they got my number.

Calls several times a week - calls arrive at approx the same time each evening around 8:00 PM central time. Phone rings 4-5 rings always just short of the answering machine picking up. Someone mentioned calling their clients - I am going to report this to the MN Attorney General's office if it continues. I am also on many do not call lists which apparently they have not purchased. I just got my first call today. I called the number back and it answered as the Boy's and Girl's Club. It gave a list of names and numbers to press for them. However, Autin Graven's name was not mentioned.

My husband answered the phone and a male voice on the line asked by me by my name! We hung up.

Apparently being on the national Do Not Call Registry does no good. Constantly get calls from this #. Frustrating!!

Have called several times with no messages left. Now that I see what's here, it's probably because we didn't renew a magazine. Now I certainly won't because of the way the handle it. Thanks for the info!

Received a call this evening at 8:56 p.m. (Central), but when I answered the call disconnected. I called the number back and got their recorded message which states if you want to be removed from their list to leave your number. I started pushing buttons & managed to get through to the Human Resources office & left a voice mail. Then I called again and got the direct line for Jason Graven (719-387-0300), called him and left a voice mail message. Advised that I am on the DNC list, that if I ever get another call from them, I will call him back 3 times and leaves messages on his voice mail. Tonight's call was the second call in the past 2 days. Their website does not give you a clear idea of who they are, but appears to be publishing. I will be reporting this to the DNC people.

Two days in a row even though I told them per their answering machine I was on do not call registry. They keep calling.

and asked them what was going on that someone would ask for me by name then hang up as soon as I identified who I was. She said they have 120 people making calls and she would add my number to their do not call list... I am on the national DO NOT CALL list why would I need to call them up and get on their list.

If your telephone number is registered in the National Do Not Call Database, go to:donotcall.gov and click on the "file a complaint" prompt. If enough people report these telemarketers, they will get the message and stop the annoying and unwanted calls. Hope this info helps.

They called last night at 2 minutes to 9, just before the cut-off time for telemarketers. I googled this morning and found them.

This is the second call from this number; however, the calls are months apart at this point.

I just received my second call from Austin Graven. The woman asked if I know my neighbor Anita Luch at, and then gives an address a few doors away from me. There is no such woman. This is the second time I have gotten a call with the same question.

These people called me and wanted to know if I would renew my subscription to better homes and gardens, told them NO and not to call again, THEY KEEP CALLING and the name showing up on the ID does not look very business professional if they even are legit..

I have received about 10 calls from this person and they never leave a message. I am on the Do NOT call registry but they keep calling anyway. I thought I wasn't supposed to get any calls like this but I still keep getting them. I went to the Do Not Call site and filed a complaint. I suggest the rest of you do the same.

I am on the DNC registry and have been receiving at least one phone call a day from Graven Austin for the last 3 weeks. Received several calls (10/07). Doesn't respond if I answer. I am on No Call List and have renewed recently so I shouldn't be receiving these unwanted calls. Especially when they don't respond.

Calls daily during the weekdays. Finally home and answered today. Person on the other end giggled and hung up. I called them, got a recorded message, allowing me to leave my number to be added to their "do not call" list, or to leave a number for a call back.

I'll just start by saying I used to work for this comapany and the owner is so cheap he wont invest in better equipment so the computers are so slow that the line wont connect us alot of times before you have hung up. My 91 year old mother has been getting calls from this phone number for weeks. I don't think it is that they hang up on you but rather if you stay on the line a few minutes they will pick up....which means it is a computer generated call which is illegal if you are on the DO NOT CALL list which my mother is.

I put that phone number in whitepages.com and it is listed to a Michelle Graven. You can call your local phone company and have that number blocked from coming into your phone.

My mother started getting a subscription to Better Homes & Gardens along with about 3 other magazines that she did not subscribe to three or four years ago and we have been unable to stop them from coming so perhaps they are just trying to sell magazines, but that is not the way to go about it.

Receive calls from Austin Graven, same # everyone else lists. I do not ever answer, no message ever left. On DNC list, this is outrageous. Who do we call to get this stopped, must be a scam of sort.

These people are getting under my skin! They call EVERY morning, sometimes twice. I've asked to be put on their do not call list 6 times. They are extremely high pressure. I will begin to ignore their calls, as I see no other way to get rid of them.

I received 4 calls from Austin Graven this week and a hang up occurred each time when I picked up. This has to be a computer generated call. There's a glitch in their system somewhere but they must be aware of it by now.

Austin Graven appears on our caller id three or four times a day most days of the week. I know it is a telemarketer, so I don't answer. I am on the do not call registry, so this is probably a violation. This should be investigated by the FCC and the FTC.

This number called me tonight and hung up when I answered. When I called it back, a recording came on saying that recording 3 has not yet been recorded and to record my message after the tone. Caller ID said it was Graven,Austin 719-219-3885 at 6:33pm Central Time. I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST. PUSHED *57 for a trace. Police say after 3 traces we may report and press harrassment charges from that telephone number. First offense is a misdemeanor. If problem continues a small claims harrassment lawsuit is in order. Police say shoot for the maximum allowed in our state. Who knows, the judge just may award it all.

Just called again-I didn't answer-looked up the phone number and found it here. I answered one day last week and when he asked for me by name, I said "She's not home, can I take a message?" lol He gave me his name and number and said "Its important she get back to me." Yeah, right.

I looked at Graven, Austin & Drake's website and found who they list as happy customers. Two of my magazine companies were listed. So I emailed both. Strang communications responded positively. They are changing firms and wished they'd gotten my letter last year! They agreed w/me that 1 letter represents 1000 more that just didn't write. So check out GAD's list of clients. If you see one you do business with email them your complaint. Tell them how GAD represents them poorly!

I see this company does telemarketing for a number of magazines and publishers, so it's possible the call is in connection with one of my magazine subscriptions - I see Charisma and Group magazines both on their client list.

they were calling a user at my federal agency. the target federal agencies, but mine in particular could shut them down. they took the number that they were calling and said it would stop within 48 hours. call this # Phone: (719) 548-9292 and tell them to stop and they will.... if they don't, we'll shut them down.

I'm also a long time "do not call" person. If it says "unavailable" we don't answer, even if it gives a #. This however does say, Graven, Austin and the number is 719/219-3885. I have no connections with these people and am very aggrevated to keep receiving calls. They don't leave messages, so if it was info related to me, I'm sure they would. I am employeed with the State of Maryland and for the past few days I have received a call between 12 and 1 from this number. After I identify myself and the agency whoever is on the other end hangs up and the line goes to a busy signal.

My mother called me today and said she had a message on her answering machine for me. The caller ID said Austin Graven and the phone # is 719-219-3885. The message was simple "We're looking for Christine K" what makes it odd is I dont go by that last name anymore and I havent lived there in years and the phone was never attached to my name.
