AES and PHEAA are government agencies. For that reason, even if you are on the do not call list, we are still authorized to make a call to you (or the references you leave) to make contact with you to help prevent this debt from going onto your credit report or going into default. Like every other "bill collector", there are some good some bad. If you get a call from a rude rep, call their supervisors and let them know and it will be handled appropriately.

the number is 18002330557. i'm a rep for AES. We try to contact so many times due to due diligence. If you answer your phone and we make contact with you, we won't call you as often. What we try to due is help people as well as collect. If you can not make a payment, we explore other options. We wouldn't call so much if the phone was answered. Usually, if you do not have a loan with us and we call you, you were either a co-signer or an alternate contact for someone who has a loan out. We are legitamate. Most loan programs offer options to help if you can not make a payment. If we call and you can not make a payment, just let us know and we will see if we can help you so that it doesnt get credit reported or go into default. :)

that quote ...
''Put the bank behind the loan serviced by AES on notice of AES's egregious conduct. The bank should be a defendant in the coming action(s) for their knowledge of their agent's (AES) mismanagement of the accounts and their failure to take any corrective action.''

Whoops, try again ....

If AES is such an innocently bystanding ''loan servicer'', why are there so many recent complaints of behavior like that of a hostile junk debt collector? I'm seeing wrongful interest and fee gouging, rude treatment from the reps, and general jerking around of the alleged debtors. Anyone living in a state with decent collections or deceptive practice laws should rethink their responses to these goons.

Here's a quote I found from a Connecticut attorney which may illuminate:

This number is on my caller id almost everyday. I AM ON THE DO NOT CALL LIST. I never went to college and have no student loan. Stop the calls, I do not not answer any calls. They use another number also.

2010-12-20 19:41:43 UTCLisa

I dont even know the person they are trying to reach - They keep calling my cell phone - I have had this number for about 20 years (I had one of the original "bag" phones) - They called again this morning(at 11:39) I said I don't know her - do not call this number again - and they called again at 2:05pm - I have filed a complaint with the FTC

2008-12-09 23:13:47 UTCjon

report them to the fcc: FCC Form 1088: esupport.fcc.gov

2008-12-04 19:32:12 UTCGE

I have a carry over number, so they keep calling for the past owner of number. I called them to stop, but they keep calling.

2008-03-07 18:20:57 UTCScott

I called the number back and was routed through an AES switchboard. I'd recommend insisting that you call whoever back through a publicly listed number before disclosing any information. Despite the caller being honest, there is no guarantee that any number may be returned to then unused pool and later exploited. That and a PBX is capable of sending any number they want to caller ID, it is not controlled by the phone company except for residential service.

If you're legit and want to clear things up, why don't you leave the #800 here for everyone to see. I would very much enjoy speaking to a supervisor, or better yet, have my attorney call. I co-signed a student loan with another reputable bank, who apparently sold the loan to AES. I was notified ONCE months ago that the payment was late (the check was in the mail) but have been getting hang up calls from this number since. I make six figures, have exemplary credit, and if you sleazeballs in any way attempt to damage my credit using your strong arm tactics, I will have my attorney nail you to the wall.

very different experience from the first few that i just read; i called, pressed '1'for english. when asked for 'my' account number, i pressed '0' and was immediately patched through to a human. i asked her why they were calling me. she looked up my number and said that it was listed as an alternate contact for someone in their system. she said that she would remove it immediately. very nice and helpful.

2008-02-13 19:36:34 UTCSteve

They call and don't leave a message. I've had another recent scam caller, so I don't answer if its out of the area code. Plus, I don't even have a college loan, which makes no sense for them to call.

2008-01-29 22:47:02 UTCLizzie

The person who called couldn't even pronounce my daughters name correctly.
I told them she doesn't live here anymore and to stop calling. They call about 5 times
a day and I don't answer. The number I get is 717-720-1500. I consider this harassment!

2008-01-22 18:13:52 UTCgirlfriend

this is to the a-hole at the very bottom, AES dfltprev.....you guys must wake up each morning with a clean slate for a memory. my boyfriend has a loan that isn't even DUE for any payments until 2011 but for some reason you complete morons call him and harass him about paying the damn thing. and we HAVE called the 800# but since you guys have your heads up your asses and can't seem to find your way out, you ARE being telemarketers and you ARE acting like debt collectors so don't get all high and mighty. and we ARE going to keep bitching until you guys figure it out.

2008-01-19 07:38:34 UTCaes dfltprev

the phone number is for the default prevention department at american education services. if we call you, it is probably important in one facet or another. no, we are not the debt collectors yet. if we were the debt collectors, your wages have already been garnished. if you're on the do not call list, it doesn't matter. we are a government agency about student loans. we are not telemarketers, but then again, instead of bitching about it on here, you would've looked up the 800# we leave to see who we are.

2007-12-21 14:10:23 UTCRenee

This is an identity thief. They are posing at AES, a student loan company. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFORMATION.

2007-11-25 17:59:53 UTCJason

Hey guys i had a little trouble paying AES, who calls about 20x a day. I found a website that can help you pay your loans adviceontime.com just as an FYI every dollar counts.

2007-10-22 21:10:40 UTCJeff Spicoli

It's about student loan re-payment.

2007-09-25 18:54:34 UTCRebgloy

Recieve a call almost daily from this number, sometimes they leave msg for someone I never heard off. They call at all hours from 8am - 10pm.

2007-09-13 17:53:18 UTCEva

They called and I tried calling back, but they hang up.

2007-08-22 19:02:17 UTCLisa

This company calls every couple of days asking for a new name each time.

2007-08-09 14:42:25 UTCKaren

called twice same day - no message left - how are they getting cell phone numbers?

2007-08-07 21:56:08 UTCAngel

This # called me 2 times, yet I didn't pick up, I figured if it was important they'd leave a message, which they didn't....Why would they keep calling?

2007-05-28 18:03:47 UTCJoseph

They left a computer recording on my answering machine

They left a message to call their 1-800 number... I'm not going to call and find out any more than that. My number is on the DNC list... so these guys are gonna get a little call from someone else...

2007-03-29 11:47:27 UTCShawn

They just called did not leave a message. I tried to call back, busy.

2007-03-01 14:03:58 UTCKate

It is American Education services. They were calling to see if I would tell my brother to call them to update his information. I do believe that he is probably late in paying his loan.

2007-02-07 14:36:04 UTCAbbey

Left a msg saying it's for a student loan, I've never had a student loan.

2007-02-02 10:02:56 UTCjillibean

received the call and it was for a ref on a student loan.

2007-01-17 13:22:51 UTCzwarbyt

They called asking if I knew a friend from college. i told them yes I knew him, then they asked for his current adress info etc. Definatly a debt collector.

2007-01-17 08:45:54 UTCGerard Mohammed

This number has been violating my phone line for the last few days and it's both making me angry and suspicious.

2007-01-11 11:44:40 UTCAndrea

They called and asked if I needed a computer repair. I said no and the guy laughed and hung up.

2006-11-22 17:57:18 UTCbella_grrl

It was AES, American Education Services. The call back number is their debt prevention program--I called back and the guy said the department is for people one step away from collections. Luckily for me it was a MISTAKE! I pay on time and they called me by error.

2006-11-15 08:11:38 UTCRob

They've called three times in one morning. I answer, someone says "Hello?" and then hangs up.

2006-11-03 12:53:33 UTCBill

It was American Education Services, who left a call back of 1-800-328-0355 about previous edcuation. They handle student loans.

2006-10-26 19:55:47 UTCmarco

dont know when i call back i get a recording saying "lines are temporarily busy, please call again later"

they said it was about my college education...its a bit sketchy. When my sister asked them what they wanted they said she was not authorized to hear the information...

2006-10-25 08:30:57 UTCYan

Someone has been calling from this number for the past 2 mornings, I haven't picked the phone up.

Who is calling? Let me know yan@memorysuppliers.com Thank you!

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
