Kamloops, BC - no number available

Hello, this is Rachel at cardholder services. I'm
calling in rerference to your current credit card account.
There are no problems currently with your account however it is URGENT that you contact us concerning your eligibility for lowering your interest rates.
Your eleigiblity expires shortly, so please consider this your final notice.
Please press one on your phone to speak to a live operator about lowering your interest rates or
press three to receive no further notices.

I pressed 1 to speak to some one and they asked "Did you press one to find out about lowering your interest rate?" And I said "No, I just wanted to tell you that is a disgusting approach - that recoded message" click.... he hung up.

Only caught the last seconds of the answering machine message...something about dialing 1 to lower my interest rates. When I call back, it's busy.

Surrey, BC here.

*Phone rings*
Me> “Hello?”
Recording> “I’m sorry, that was an invalid response. Please press 1 to speak to an operator about lowering your interest rate-”
*click*

Yeah. Maybe you should use a human, to confirm that I am in fact a university student and not the mortgage holder you're looking for, who wouldn't be interested anyway, scumbags.

Same thing happening here in Medicine Hat. Four or five calls in the past week. Each time giving me the "don't-panic-about-your-credit" routine. I am also on the DNC list. I pressed 1 and as soon as I asked the lady why I was being phoned all the time, she hung up.

2007-04-19 20:47:40 UTCTiff

Same as Jason"My "Account" is up-to-date, however I need to contact their office immediately to take advantage of their lower interest rates, blah, blah, blah. Press "1" to speak to an operator or press "3" to discontinue further notices."

2007-04-19 18:47:33 UTCjo

have called several times

2007-04-19 17:46:10 UTCJay Y

Yeah , I contancted the calgary police service. And I am also trying to contanct the iowa police. If they are from IOWA. Theyre going down

2007-04-19 16:12:16 UTCTSellers

Same as calls from (307) 764-8784. Added them to my call block list, as soon as I heard the first sentence and realized it was a recording I hung up.

2007-04-17 21:16:43 UTCSam

Did not answer, the message left on my answering service the same as what Lori and Jason reported.

2007-04-16 21:07:57 UTCSue M

I'm not stupid, I just hung up. I'm so sick of spammers.

2007-04-13 20:52:27 UTCanti spam

(712) 429-0273 calls us evry week . He is a telespammer. Her eare few more telespammers: (416) 488-8181, (416) 915-3309 Those are shameless creatures would NEVER QUIT. Government should do something about them.

2007-04-13 02:57:49 UTCEvan O.

Heard the same message fragment that Lori H did. Call display said Iowa. Possibility of fraud? I would strongly suggest NOT to press any of the numbers they suggest. It may be a trap.

2007-04-11 18:33:58 UTCRokkslyde

oh, and she claimed to be calling from Tacoma, WA.

2007-04-11 18:33:09 UTCRokkslyde

Pressed "1", spoke to a woman who claimed to be from "MCS" who represent Visa AND Mastercard for CIBC, BofM, Royal Bank and others. She hung up after I told her that I prefer high interest rates because they turn me on.

2007-04-09 17:52:22 UTCMary

I pressed 1, and told fellow that picked up to put # on Do Not Call List - he just hung up.

2007-04-05 15:52:40 UTCJason

My "Account" is up-to-date, however I need to contact their office immediately to take advantage of their lower interest rates, blah, blah, blah. Press "1" to speak to an operator or press "3" to discontinue further notices. Yeah, right.

2007-04-03 10:37:14 UTCLori H

didn't answer, went to voicemail - telling me it's the final notice to lower my interest rates, press 1. Tried calling, but the number is busy

2007-03-30 13:29:57 UTCAndy M.

I'm in Vancouver, B.C., Canada, and this mortgage referral company from Iowa has called several times over the last few days.

Do they seriously believe that I would want to remortgage my house through fly-by-night phone spammers in another country via a cold call?

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
