They continue calling my home looking for Virginia Davis...never heard of this person. An automated message says that 'by continuing to listen I acknowledge I and Virginia Davis..." - If you're going to use automated messaging, YOU NEED TO MAKE SURE YOU'VE ENTERED THE RIGHT NUMBER! DON'T YOU HAVE METHODS TO FOLLOW UP ON THESE CALLS?? I am not this person nor have I ever heard of them!

I had a debt with them and because my daughter works for them as a collector, I took care of it. They are a standard collection agency. Some good collectors, some bad. They are huge and have many resources, you can't really fight them. Even if you are past the statute of limitations you may have to pay them to clear up your credit. Keep this in mind, they are always willing to settle for less. Sometimes up to 70% less. Keep haggling, supervisors can give you better deals, ask to speak to one. Foremost: BE NICE, if you aren't nice they aren't going to give you a good deal, they don't have to.

no message, just AACC on the display

2008-07-02 20:52:02 UTCJoel

Sleazy debt collectors who use illegal automated dialing methods. Even if you tell them specifically that no one by that name is at your number the calls will continue. Expect daily automated calls once they start. Complaining has no effect and when they do stop the calls will start up again in a few months.

they keep calling for bally total fitness regarding a membership i supposedly had with them. I told them that at the time when they are saying I had the membership I was pregnant with twins and I had 3 broken toes from a fall I took, and I have doctor reports and stuff they keep on telling me that it is my membership, so i finally contacted somebody to see how many female are out there in my city with my name and on a 10 mile radius there are 6 of us so it can be any of the other 5 but they keep on calling.

2008-06-09 21:43:32 UTCDan T

Asked for Donna. Told wrong number and disconnected before he could say more.

2008-06-07 01:27:09 UTCUPSET

They call me looking for someone else!! I told them they don't live here. They threatened me saying they're going to keep calling me until I give them the information they want. I don't even think that's legal!

2008-05-28 04:08:27 UTCo no

they are looking at this right now!

2008-05-20 22:11:36 UTCguytheycalled

They called me. I called back with same phone - got busy; called back with another and talked to a few reps before getting a guy who played the game quite well :) If they are a scam - meh. If not, at least they have one cool-headed fellow who was smooth enough. touch

2008-05-15 01:43:57 UTCthe Girl

debt collection scam, they are collecting for Bally Total Fitness.... I paid this debt off too, a long time ago

2008-05-09 22:35:17 UTChk

it wont let you call it back either

2008-05-02 23:45:08 UTCWhy me

AACC????? Who is this? Unsure of why or how this individual got a telephone number that is non-published. Date received 5-2-08

2008-04-29 23:19:43 UTCpooh

I didn't answer

2008-04-25 00:02:56 UTCgg

This is a recorded call... it says, "by continuing to listen you are admitting to being (whomever)."
they then threaten to keep calling because you have admitted to being that person. I have put this number and name into my DO NOT CALL LIST! Why do they allow these menaces to leave such threatning calls. It is my phone. I bought, paid for hook up, pay my bill for my convenience, not the telemarketer's. This should be taken care of properly. It seems to be the summer months that it is so prevalent.

A stupid mumbler trying to give me information "for my benefit."

2008-04-17 18:30:25 UTCmclark

Don't know what they want or who they are looking for. I let the answering machine pick up, but they never leave a message. They continue to call.

2008-04-01 19:11:03 UTCmagali

i didnt answer and just looked up the # on google..then clicked on this link....so i didnt answer.

2008-03-31 22:09:34 UTCTucker

I just noticed that there is an ad for AACC on your website right now!!!!!!! Talk about irony

2008-03-31 22:08:37 UTCTucker

They are calling me at least 3 times a day. Have finally turned off answering machine so that they cannot leave their message about accepting the call. The name is not mine. Tried going to their website...waste of time...what can we do?

2008-03-29 03:05:07 UTCGeri

They call all hours of the day or night. Recorded voice states... "by remaining on the line and listening, you are admitting to being this or that person!" Why do the phone companies allow these calls to have precedence - I paid for my phone, I pay a phone bill, my number is supposed to be unlisted!!!!! What the????? This is harassment!

2008-03-25 23:27:06 UTCa business

these idiots call our fax machine at least once or twice a day. it's getting ridiculous. I managed to copy down the number from the caller ID and track it today, and the customer service rep didn't know anything about the calls but mentioned a name that's connected to the fax number. The name was familiar, but I can't figure out who it is or how I know them. I come across so many people in this business it's hard to keep track.

2008-03-19 16:23:55 UTCNot June Parker

Regularly call asking for a June Parker that we have never heard of. The kicker is that the message states that "by continuing to listen you are acknowledging that you are June Parker". WTF? I don't let you assholes determine who I am and which messages I can listen to on my own phone.

2008-03-18 22:12:06 UTCanon

calls about once a week. from what log I have: 2/25, 3/04, 3/17 so far..

2008-03-14 16:33:19 UTCShelley D

Bill collector

2008-03-11 21:49:27 UTCraiderhr

they called asking for someone else-seemed like they had the wrong number. I found it on my voice mail. I wouldn't ever call these guys back and never talk to them. After reading the other comments, they have no credibility and this is a racquet. Should be part of a RICO investigation by the US Atty General

2008-03-10 13:33:01 UTCStink

Called but didn't answer. Here is a great site. Go to clubdean.com

2008-03-06 21:46:07 UTCJohn

I found free letters on adviceontime.com that you can mail to this a@@holes to get them to stop calling you. They also have an article on how to deal with them. Fight back, they have to respect your legal rights.

2008-03-05 18:41:01 UTCceltmaidn

Talk about rude. They don't need to get rude with me. I am not the one they need to collect from.

****CONSUMER NOTICE***
ARE YOU A VICTIM OF ASSET ACCEPTANCE CORP? HAVE YOU BEEN SUED BY THEM? WAS A JUDGMENT OBTAINED? ARE YOUR WAGES BEING GARNISHED, BANK ACCOUNT LEVIED? IF SO, PLEASE GET IN CONTACT WITH ME.

Asset Acceptance Corp. (AAC) is a publicly traded company. (Nasdaq: AACC)

They purchases old portfolios of mostly worthless charged-off accounts for pennies on the dollar. Once owned, they appear to inflate the value of the portfolio, send out dunning notices and try to collect at a ridiculous profit.

2008-02-29 05:23:43 UTCINFO MAN

Don't be surprised if you notice the date of last activity on your credit report, as stated by AAC is WRONG! Deliberately changing the date of last activity is a way to scam consumers into thinking they are entitled to money they would not legally be allowed to collect.

This is standard procedure for them -- from "re-aging" the debt on the credit history, to suing on what is probably a statute of limitations claim, to reneging on a written promise.

Watch out for the mystery $50-$75 payment you didn't' make that magically revives the account. When pressed, they claim to do an investigation and "discover" that they made a "clerical error" and mistakenly posted someone else's payment to your account.

2008-02-29 05:22:49 UTCINFO MAN

Asset Acceptance Corp has earned the distinction of one of "AMERICA'S WORST COLLECTION AGENCY'S". They lie, steal, cheat, misrepresent, file bogus claims, create phony documents and commit perjury in the court system JUST to increase their bottom line.

I SAID HELLO, NO ONE ANSWERED, I HUNG UP, LATER DUDE!

2008-02-27 21:26:28 UTCanon

Claimed to be confirming a loan for Matew Martin at the address 11 Stevens Point, Algonquin, Illinois, 60102

2008-02-23 19:15:27 UTCDidi Martin

I answered the phone quickly, and noone spoke to me. I kept saying "hello" and got no reply so I finally hung up.
This is a violation of the Do-Not-Call lists I am on. I have no debts in debt collection, so if they are calling about an "unpaid debt", it has to be a hoax. I went to their website, and they ALSO offer services, so I wonder if they were calling to sell me something. I intend to report them on two Do-Not-Call lists I am on.

2008-02-16 16:59:43 UTCannoyed

I have a similar experience to people above. Every few months they and other companies call with an automated voice and ask for someone I never heard of. I think they must make up these names and/or call every possible number. I have call blocking on my phone but they seem to call from different numbers every time.

2008-02-16 16:46:30 UTCANON

Even with the choice to remove my number offered, taking that action DOES NOT remove my number........................this is my fax line, apparently once owned by someone else. How do I stop these calls as it has gone on for over a year

2008-02-15 22:10:13 UTClynnie

They said I owed a bill from 2004---I paid it and had the paperwork to back it up. When I told them that, they hung up. Scam???

2008-02-13 21:11:10 UTCWarsun

This is a dailing machine that always ask for the same person. this machine is prerecorded. It has no real information. its a starting number. it gets information about your phone line then relays it to other machines giving them your number as a call back number. Interesting enough im with ATT an you would think that they would block this call. None of there services block out of state calls. Interesting. Could it be they want you to recive out side calls. Because if i say i want to block this call they wont do it.

2008-01-29 21:59:32 UTCRB

Recorded message stating "not a solicitation call."

I hung up.

2008-01-29 19:22:59 UTCgreg

I keep getting calls from these people, usually around 8:15AM. WTF do they want? My phone number is new.

2008-01-28 15:19:13 UTCjkd

Don't know what they want or who they are looking for. I let the answering machine pick up, but they never leave a message. They continue to call.

2008-01-18 01:02:28 UTCanon

Did not answer call. No message was left. Called number back using protected line and received busy signal only.

2008-01-17 23:00:47 UTClink

i answered, but they just hung up.

2008-01-17 20:38:53 UTCanon

I didn't answer.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
