I've received many many calls from "Rachel" offering to get me a lower interest rate on my credit card balances. Several times I dialed "1" and spoke to another individual who attempted to query me about the amount of my credit card balances. Sometimes I went along with their game for a bit trying to find out more about the caller's organization. One of them told me she was calling from Orlando, Florida, but was evasive about what they were about. Eventually, each time I asked them to stop calling me, sometimes politely, sometimes profanely. A couple of days ago I filed a complaint with the Do Not Call website. But I wasn't able to give them a telephone number for the nuisance caller.

2009-07-02 15:54:08 UTCQuit calling Me

I have learned how to deal with these calls. Reporting the number that is on your Caller ID to the FED or your state’s Attorney General does no good because it is usually either a forged number or it is a number that can not be associated with the caller, and therefore cannot be used to identify the real caller.

You need to get a REAL number that can absolutely identify the caller in order for the FED or your state Attorney General to be able to sue the real culprit. The only way to get that real number is to talk to the caller and turn the tables on him!

When you get this type of call feign interest. That means that if the recorded message asks you to press 9 then go ahead and press 9 to talk to a live person. While they give you their pitch, keep feigning interest. Sound excited that you may be able to have your interest rate reduced. Keep them talking. If they ask you a question, answer it, but don't answer it truthfully (and NEVER give them your Credit Card number or anything else that is real).

After a couple minutes you will have them hooked. That is when you have to go to the bathroom, or check the oven, etc. Ask them if you can call them back in a few minutes and get a phone number from them. Chances are they will give you a real number (and their name). Call that number back a minute or two later and ask for the person that you were speaking to. Talk to them just long enough to ensure that you are talking to the same person and that the same conversation is being continued. At that point, tell them that you are on the Do Not Call List and that you want to be placed on their own internal DO NOT CALL list. Also, let them know that you now have a valid phone number to report to your state of the FED.

I did this a month ago after receiving dozens of calls offering me to reduce my interest rate. When I asked if I could call back I got the number ‘1-866-942-6441’ along with the company name ‘Sapphire Financial’. I called back a minute later and spoke to the same person and the conversation picked up where it left off.

I was able to report all this to my State’s Attorney General and because they have a verified bonafide phone number, the AG can sue the company, which they are in the process of doing so now. Now when they call (and they continue to call) I feign interest so that I can get a verified, bonafide number that can be used to SCREW them both legally and royally 

Until you can get a verified bonafide number, there is nothing that you can do. If you can get a verified, bonafide number, the FED or your state’s Attorney General can do something,

By the way….If you do feign interest and they don’t give you a number when you ask….just tell them that you will just call 1-866-942-6441 and ask to speak Jennifer Sallies instead. More than likely they will be calling for Sapphire Financials and hearing their real number and the owner’s name will really BLOW their mind.

Have some fun at these jerks expense rather than getting aggravated 

I just got one in queens. Twice. When I spoke to a live person either Elizabeth or Evelyn and asked her to remove me from her list she just hung up.

I've been getting the "Rachel" calls here in VA often and for awhile now. There must be malfunctions with the 'remove your #' option, so I've stopped trying that. I've even talked to "a representative" to beg them to take off my #, but they just hang up. One guy actually told me straight up that the dialers malfunction and he couldn't do anything about it. So that was the ONE time I wasn't immediately hung up on. These calls must be happening all over the country. Sorry to everybody who has to deal w/ it.

I get at least one Cardholder Services call every other day. I own no credit cards, (ex-wife issue) and have blocked all credit advertisers. I did their number three thing and even asked them nicely and not so nicely to take me off their list. They said they would. They claim they are in Canada and not subject to U.S. laws. Not only are these people scam artist they are pretty stupid and inefficient by calling the same people who tell them not to over and over and over again. But the immoral and unethical were never known for efficiency.

2008-02-13 19:13:22 UTCRobert Fink

Just like everybody else, I am receiving these calls everyday. Is it the credit card companies doing this, or common thieves? perhaps they're one of the same... I don't know. I've tried to contact every government agency - nobody cares. As for the phone company, they'd rather pass the buck than take the initiative to help out a loyal customer. What I intend to do is drop my phone company after 30 years, and start using an internet based phone service like Vonage. When I terminate my service, I will let the phone company know why. My hunch is that if enough people follow suite despite the inconvenience, the phone company will eventually respond. Its amazing what they can accomplish when their bottom line is in jeopardy. I applaud anybody who takes action in this matter!

2007-11-24 04:10:13 UTCBrian

They've reached Victoria, BC. Receive these calls once - two times a week. Definetly spam. Remove from list never works. Hitting 9 on keypad gives loooong beeeeep.

2007-11-21 19:10:49 UTCLynn

Just got a call from Rachael at Cardholder Services regarding my credit card account.. First time.. No number shows up

2007-10-15 23:36:05 UTCAndy

Got another call from "Rachel from Cardholder Services".

This is the third call this week from these people. I've pressed 3 each time to be removed from their list, but it's obvious that they ignore it.

2007-10-11 03:53:02 UTCJosh

"Hello this is Rachel from Cardholder Services".

Please press 1 to speak to a live operator to lower your interest rates.

WOW, I`m in Vancouver Canada and these guys MUST be using up some long distance. What I did was just left the phone until it auto-hung up to cost them the few pennies on the long distance.
Ha ha. It is an annoyance but I usually dont answer any calls on my call display that I dont know. Wish those DO NOT CALL lists would work, we have them up here in Canada too.

2007-07-05 19:48:37 UTCTammy

I get the same calls at least once a day. There is nothing you can do. There is not even an ID anymore or number on caller ID. They laugh in your face because they know you can't do anything about the calls. The only way is to persuade the State Attorneys office that they are running a scam, which takes time. And since there is hardly any info (if numbers appear on caller ID, they are fake), they usually don't persue it or put it on low priority. Since I can't stop the calls, I can at least get some retaliation. I press 9 and wait until somebody comes on. I show interest in lowering my score and just when I know they have the phone/headset/whatever close to their ear and on max, because I intentionally talk softly, I scream at the top of my lungs with the mouthpiece to my mouth as close as possible. That way I can let off steam and the person at the other end will have their ears ringing/deaf for a while.

2007-05-07 16:20:37 UTCGordon

Cardholder Services called again, after the recording said Press 9 to lower your interest rates, or press 8 to be taken off the list. Pressing 8 just says invalid option, and the recording starts over. So I pressed 9, when the operator answered, they asked if I pressed 9 to lower my interest rates I said No, please take me off your list. She laughed and said "Don't you know you're just supposed to hang up doo doo brain" and then she hung up on me!
I am on the National DNC list! They keep calling. The next time they called I decided to play along and get the company information. So when I pressed 9 a guy ansered and asked if I wanted to lower my interest rates. I said sure. He said, well you need at least $3000 in credit card debt to qualify, I said sure I have that. He said exactly how much credit card debt do I have, I said $5000, then he just hung up. I guess $5000 in refinance wasn't worth his time. Next time I'll say $20,000.

2007-04-04 19:12:05 UTCFred

They said they represent Government Grants. They wanted my payment information for $1.80 shipping to send me the kit. Be careful. They are want your Credit card and or banking information. Watch out!!!

2007-03-20 12:43:14 UTCBill

This computer generated caller called twice in the last 4 days. Out of curiosity, during the second call, I pressed 9 and a "live" voice answered. I asked him the name of the company and he responded "Card Services of America". I asked him his phone number and he quickly disappeared. I reported both calls to the National DONOTCALL Registry.

2007-02-28 11:16:10 UTCDrew

Called themselves Rate Relief Solutions. Proposed to charge me nearly $700 and reduce my interest costs by over $2000. Then asked me to verify, while being recorded, that I had authorized this $700 charge against my credit card immediately. I said not until I see the terms of the deal in writing. They said impossible. I said then no deal. They said they would see what they would do and the phone went silent. Waited 5 minutes and got dial tone.
They were not answering their 800 number this morning. Their website has spelling mistakes.

2007-02-27 10:09:52 UTCRachana

I received 6 calls within 20minutes apart. Every time I tried calling back, all I ever get was a busy signal. After reading all these comments I won't bother answering it unless I have a whistle to answer answering the call. Annoying especially at work!

2007-02-26 10:34:12 UTCDestiny

I have been getting calls from this number at least 3 times a day for about a week now. I don't answer it because I don't want to pay for the call from my cell and when I have called from a land line phone I get the message "Call cannot be completed at this time. Please try again later."

2007-02-19 11:23:32 UTCMark

Automated message from "Cardholder Services" (number unknown) offering a lower 6% interest rate - "press 9 to speak to an operator, press 8 to be removed from our calling list". I pressed 8 and it said "sorry that was an invalid response" and played the recording again. Pressing 9 and a woman asked if I was holding to lower my interest rate today -- I said "no I'm holding to tell you not to call me again". She hung up.

So far only called once, I did not answer, Best thing to do if don't know the # calling, if it's really inportant, " They'll leave a message. I'm also on the no call list. But by the sound of all the comments I read, sounds like kids, prank calling people. Can the phone company find out where this # is coming from ? and get the police involved ? Just a thought

I got this call claiming there wa nothing wrong with my card. i WAS ASKED IF i WANT A LOWER INTEREST RATE ON MY CARD TO PRESS "1", As I did that a male answered and started to talk ofering credit cards for a better rate. I interrupted him and asked which of my cards they were talking about, he immediately hung up. I tried to call back to ask why he hung up on me but a recordind says the call did not go thru.

2006-12-04 23:35:34 UTCSharon

Said hello and recording stated that is not a valid option......

2006-12-04 21:05:37 UTCMaven in Tx

Identified herself as Nicole with Card Services in Dallas. Limited time offer to lower my credit card interest to 6%. When I asked where she was located she stated Dallas, Tx. When asked how she got my number, stated that banks released this info every 2 years for folks with rates over x%. Did not identify which bank or card.
When I questioned her about her company she directed me to a webpage, Raterelief.com that was a software add, then to a second page that was also not the page she stated it to be.
When I was told that "it is the third option down" I stated What, on Google, 'cause there are no buttons on the page you gave me. I'll just google it.
She asked someone there in the background if he meant Google and that I had Googled the name, and he asked "What did she do that for?"
When I asked for written material to look over to be sent she agreed quickly and hung up without asking for an address.
Pretty sure this is a SCAM.

2006-11-30 20:15:09 UTCAmy

I answered because it said "Card Services"When I answered I was immediately put on hold and told to wait for an important message regarding my card. The message was an offer for a lower interest rate after the automated voice told me there was no problem with my card.

2006-11-28 16:30:44 UTCRobert

Caller ID says "Card Services" at 13:42 MST today. I was not here at the time, but I searched for 7028182427 and reached here. Just now at 17:20, they called again. I knew it had to be a scam (as I bait advanced-fraud scam artists on a regular basis, see 419eater.com). This time around, they offered to lower my interest rate, so I pressed one and got connected to a female operator. When asked if I was interested, I replied "no thanks" and then proceeded to tell her about my sexual dysfunctions and how I am fantasizing about her. *lol* :-D

They called and said President Bush had signed a bill that would cause my interest rate on my credit card to go up to 36% - but since I was a 4-star customer with one of their best credit ratings - they would lock in my interest rate at 6% on my card - they just needed my card number and the PIN on the back. They called 3 other times with these numbers: 866-317-0662; United Debt Solutions 877-351-7854, and Aimes Group 416-631-9595

"Card Services" just called again. This time I answered and some recording SCREAMED at me about how I won a trip to Cancun and that I needed to press 0 to get the details. I did and was eventually transferred to customer service where some other woman, who sort of spoke English, asked how she could help me. I told her to take my number off their call list and she said they would. She sounded like she was sitting in somebody's garage and there was very loud music playing in the backgound.

Card Services...left no message. I tried to call back to inform them that I'm on the Do Not Call registry and to remove my number from their list, but only get either a busy signal or a message that says "Call cannot be completed at this time. Please try again later."

2006-11-14 18:31:23 UTCBeverly

Don't remember what was said, message was on answering machine and I deleted it when I reaized it was junk.

2006-11-14 17:38:55 UTCDallas

I'm in Ontario Canada and this number has been phoned three times and has not left a message once.

2006-11-14 17:31:40 UTCG

Caller says "Cellular Number". Claimed to be from "United Debt Solutions". Had a great deal to organize debt onto one monthly payment. Just needed last 4 of Social Sec. and Credit card numbers. DO NOT DO THIS! SCAM! NEVER give your number over the phone to ANYONE if you did not call them first!

2006-11-14 16:25:54 UTCDJ

Verizon says that this is a cell phone through Nextel based in Las Vegas.

2006-11-13 20:26:15 UTCThomas

I never asnwer these types of calls, and by reading these notes, I can see that I'm justified.
Please note:
1: Caller ID can be spoofed.
2: Keep a whistle close to the phone and blow loudly into it if you want to fight back against these people. A ruptured eardrum or 2 might make these people think twice before they pick up the phone, IMHO.

Rec'd pre-recorded message from Card Services on 11/13/2006 at 2:08 PM instructing me to press "1" to get lower interest on my credit card. When I requested who they were representing the female said Visa, MC etc. I informed her I was on the DNC list and would be filing a complaint on them.

2006-11-13 12:11:57 UTCsarah

They wanted to lower my interest rate and when I asked who do you work for they hit a high pitch sound and hung up.

2006-11-11 14:34:38 UTCdebunker

I answered phone and got background music and a frequently repeating message to "Stay on the line for the next available cardholder representative". I hung up after 1 minute.

2006-11-11 14:00:28 UTCphil

After listening to tackey music for 5mins a shrill voice said to press 0, after doing so i explained to the man who answered to remove my number he said no to wich i replied i was on the do not call list. he replied im in mexico fucker i dont care and hung up.

2006-11-10 10:55:15 UTCJennifer

Answered, but no one was there

2006-11-09 16:28:43 UTCSyndi

No Message left, called id showed only phone number. I live in canada, but I guess maybe because our area code is 705 the are just calling random. Or maybe it is really a marketing gimmick from this website to get us to come here by searching telephone number...Hey not a bad idea eh, Most people are curious enough to search the phone number right,:)

I was put on hold for a while, then they told me I won a trip to Cancun, then I was on hold until they hung up on me.

Thanks for filling me in on this site-seems like I can expect more unwanted calls from this site.
Will contact phone company to see what can be done, I also have DNC

Pre-recorded message telling me I have won some wild number of travel points and to push "0" to claim them. I smelled a scam so just hung up.

2006-11-05 11:24:05 UTCAnna

Calls several times per week! It is very annoying, and the callers are extremely rude.

2006-11-04 09:57:39 UTCChris

Another "Card Services" target here. *sigh*

From the sounds of it, I'm going to be very pissed off soon.

2006-11-03 15:39:20 UTCMM

Called at 1630 EST. Caller ID said "cardholder services." Left no message.

2006-11-03 13:21:05 UTCPhil H.

CID: Cardholder Services. Recorded message: "Hello this is Rachel from Cardholder services..." with a menu option to press 1 to reduce the interest rate on your credit card or 2 for no further messages. I hadn't paid credit card interest in over 20 years, so hit 1 to jack with these folks. Got the usual please wait for the next available rep and then elevator music and no rep. Bummer! Call is to zip 75070

I got this call sometime this morning. I woke up and answered the phone, listened to the message, and hung up. Later on when I was actually awake, I *69'ed the number, called it back and got this message: "We're sorry, your call cannot be completed at this time. Please try again later."

2006-10-30 11:43:48 UTCSam

My experience was much the same as everyone else's I pressed 1 to talk to a human, they asked if I pressed 1 to lower my interest rates, I said: "No I want to be removed from your call list", They hung up.
Trying to dial the number results in a "call cannot be completed" message.

How is it legal to spoof caller-id information?
Anyone know how to make these calls stop?

2006-10-26 14:54:33 UTCskip

Received a call from this no., prerecorded message claimed I was a grand prize winner, they just wanted my credit card #, or Debit# to route the money to my account. When I told the guy I don't give out that Info He hung up.

Today, October 24, 2006 at 10:58, I got a call from CARD SERVICES, 702-818-2427. They did not leave a message. They have been calling almost everydayfor the last three weeks. The fact that the phone number is in the DNC registry does not make any difference to them. I have had similar experiences with them to those reported here (use of bad language, etc.)

2006-10-23 20:36:05 UTCbruce

At least once a week for the past year. I press '9' to talk to a human, and always ask to be taken off the list. They say there's no list, it's random. Ya, for sure.

Of late have told them they are harrassing me, and I'm on the no-call lists. they laugh and hang up, or say the list doesn't apply to them.

The DNC list has no teeth. We have to track these bastards down and do some serious councelling of our own if we're going to be rid of them. One would think the PhoneCompany would do something, but no...

2006-10-21 10:37:10 UTCJoan

Rachel from Card Services excitedly left a message we had won a trip to Cancun after submitting to a contest on line. Worth over $2000. Didn't enter any contest.

2006-10-17 13:21:30 UTCNate

No message left. Called ID showed "Card Services"

2006-10-10 17:35:58 UTCChris

Said I had won vacation points. Pressed 0 as instructed. Some woman asked who she was talking to. Then women in the background began laughing.

2006-10-10 08:38:29 UTCEllen

"Card Services" has called numerous times. I finally answered the call yesterday so that I could request to be removed from their calling list. A recording told me to press "0" to talk to an operator about claiming "travel points" I've earned on my credit card. I do not have a credit card but pressed "0" anyway. I asked to be removed from the calling list. The woman I talked to (can't remember the name) said that she is not responsible for that. I asked to talk to a manager/supervisor. She said that they are busy "selling things" & don't have time to go get a supervisor. She then hung up on me. I am on the do not call list.

2006-09-29 16:38:57 UTCBill

We just got home and checked the answering machine. There was a message regarding lower interest rates on my,credit card (didn't stipulate which card). This would be my final opportunity to take advantage of this plan. In doing some checking, I find that the number identified on caller ID was registered to a cell phone out of LV, NV through Nextel Communications. I will see if this continues or not. Bill

2006-09-28 13:55:14 UTCAnnabelle

They call almost hourly..and leave no message. Today they
didnt say a word..but filled my answering machine with sixty seconds of loud music, then they hung up.

2006-09-27 20:29:05 UTCJames

Screeching woman left a VERY LOUD message that I had won a free vacation. Has to be a total scam since I don't enter contests.

We get these all the time; today I attempted to talk to them and get off list..that ended up with him (& others in background) laughing and SMART- ALECKY COMMENTS.

WORST PART IS: When I hit
'redial' of the caller ID
info. on my phone (which is
702-818-2427) I get a recording from Wake Forest/
Baptist Hospital Medical Services saying 'if you have reached this # from caller ID info. on your phone, someone has called you from the hospital. If you have a friend or relative in the hospital, please use the number they left you."
Well - I HOPE - and don't think - any of my friends or relatives are in the hospital! But How Can This Phone # be connected in any way to Baptist Hospital???
I've called & reported this to Baptist Hospital.

2006-09-11 22:01:01 UTCT.E.

I have gotten 6 to 8 phone calls a day on my Caller ID while at work for the last 3 weeks. I called back the number last evening. To my suprise it was Cardholder Services. After explaining I didn't have nor want a credit card, I recieved some nasty commits. I also explained I was on the National Do Not Call list, as well as the one from my state. I recieved the words "F--k off" then he hung up. 5 more calls on the ID when I got home from work. I just finished reporting to both the US and State Do Not Call web sites. Just now answered a call from the same number (6 calls today!). After getting to a semi-human, I explained that I had reported them to the Do Not Call sites, and was told that wouldn't matter, I was now locked into 10 calles a day by their computer system. I do hope they enjoy the legal action I plan on bringing.

2006-09-11 15:48:56 UTCElizabeth

I got this several times last week when I was not home. Today I answer and its Rachel with Cardholder services. WELL first off I do not have a credit card, so I know it's BS. I tried to press 3 and it just looped back to the recording. Finally I press 1 and get Wendy who asks "Did you press one to lower your credit card rates?" When I said No she used profane language and hung up on me.

2006-09-07 19:43:32 UTCBill

They call about 3 times a week and I have pressed 3 to get off their list. Today I pressed 1, got some guy told him I was on the Do Not Call List. He said something and hung up.

2006-09-05 18:42:21 UTCMatt

"Hello this is Rachel from Cardholder services" has now surpassed Jerry with Dish as the most prolific prerecorded solicitation call to our home.

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker:
