This man claimed to be from the Golden Nugget Casino, and claimed we won a prize. He said his name was Frank but didn't catch the last name. It sounded like W something. I told him to stop calling, and he kept telling me he was legit and didn't want anything from me. I hung up on him but he called right back and left a message pleading for me to pick up or call back.

Larry, you might have meant ''debt collector'' where you use the term ''creditor''. That distinction matters since the FDCPA doesn't apply to original creditors. A cease-comm via CMRR is indeed the surest means of compelling silence if one is pelted with skip trace calls for strangers.

It should be noted that those who actually get dunned by a collector like PRA need instead to send a dispute letter, which can also restrict or ban all phone calls if PRA ever validates in response.

send a certified mail to cease all communication to each creditor. If they call again after receiving the card back stating they received, and signed for the letter in violation federal collection laws, and you can be rewarded $1,000.

I sent certified mail to every creditor calling for someone else, and had no calls in 3 weeks.

Hope this helps.

i hung up on them

How do I stop them from calling?

  1. Ask the unwanted caller to stop calling and put you on their do not call list (they are legally required to comply).
  2. If your number is registered with the National Do Not Call Registry you can file a complaint with the FTC.
  3. Block them with a call blocker or something like Nomorobo.
